Chapter 33

Y/n Pov

The loud and bustling guildhall was as lively as ever with people taking jobs on the board or having a brawl. The only ones missing were the thunder legion and Natsu's group. "Its still a while to the grand magic games so what should we do for it, I mean we can train again but is it really necessary?" Cana stated and nipped at her drink which was just mango juice. I stared at her drink for a few seconds wondering why she hasn't touched alcohol in a while. "Is there a reason why you aren't touching any of the hard drinks anymore?" I asked and placed mine down on the table. She hummed softly. "There is." She curtly replied and gazed at me slowly. "Your mother told me to lay of everything that can  harm me. To be fair she's right, drinking did get me into a lot of embarrassing situations which I wouldn't be in without alcohol." She added and looked at me smiling gently. "But I wouldn't have met you without it." She added and I saw a clear blush spread on her face.

The doors of the guildhall opened abruptly. "We are back." The Salmon head known as Natsu yelled while Gray let out a scoff. "Do you need to keep yelling every time we come." Lucy whined and Juvia nodded. "Lucy's right, why can't Natsu be more like Gray-sama. We came back from the training for the festival." She stated and I raised an eyebrow.

"A festival?" I stated in wonder. I looked to Gildarts and Irene but they kept silent and shrugged. "Its every year when the cherry trees of Magnolia are in full bloom, legend says that when two go there together they'll be with each other for the rest of their life." She added and I saw her eyes sparkle lightly. "A festival for couples?" Irene blurted out and Cana nodded. "Do you have someone special for it." Cana asked teasingly and Irene shook her head. "N-no, I was just curious, does it include a prize?" She asked shyly and Cana nodded again. "Yup, a dinner for two at one of the costliest restaurants in town." Cana stated happily. "I'll get the price hopefully." She stated clenching her hand tightly.

"Then we have a mutual goal." Irene stated and gave her a firm look while crossing her arms in front of her chest. I felt a strange tension rise between them. "If you excuse me I'll be going for some fresh air." I stated and stood up slowly. "I'll go too." Gildarts added and came right behind me.

. . .

We sat down outside of the guild looking down to the ground. "Gildarts, I've got a question but its complicated." I stated and he leaned on his arm looking at me. "Ask away." He replied calmly to me and sat up now giving me his attention.

I tightly clenched my hand from nervousness. What should I ask him even. Would he even answer or just laugh. "You want me to answer how to deal with Cana don't you?" He stated firmly and stared at me directly. "How did you know?" I asked and he made a little shrug. "Just a hunch." He replied and leaned back crossing his arms. "Its pretty easy to know how to deal with Cana or pretty much any woman in your life, you just need to be confident in what you do and assertive. And you need to be kind to them as well. Kind in the sense to not be a complete asshead to them which makes them feel hurt, girls want to feel save when they are with you, they want to know you can protect them." He spoke and then closed his eyes lightly. "I can even see in Irene how she changed during our time together, the first time I had saved her from the attack of a monster I could read in her eyes how thankful she was to me and she dropped in my arms thanking me, she let herself be so weak in my arms even tough she's stronger then I am from her magic power." He added before pausing. "I'm certain Irene fell in love with me." He whispered and I looked at him surprised not knowing what to say. "Cana, I know my daughter likes you, she loves you even." He spoke and looked directly at me patting my shoulder. "We both are afraid of the same are we, to hurt or lose the ones we love the most or to break the group we formed through our adventures. Don't worry I know the time comes when the feelings we have to them are too much and we will behave like idiots confessing out love to them in hope they'd cry and kiss us saying they do to like in the many books of romance people read." He stated and let out a light chuckle. "Got your answer." He cocked his head up and I nodded. "Yeah I do, its just my parents probably want me to confess my love to Cana and have her wear a ring next time we are at their house." I stated and Gildarts grinned at me wide. "If you want we can go and find a ring for her right now." He stated and I shook my head quickly and felt heat creep up from my neck. "No that's not necessary." I shot back and he just gave me a sly smile. "What about you and Irene do you like her?" I asked and he nodded. "I do but I'm unsure of it." I told myself I wouldn't be chasing pointless fun anymore. But Irene. . . She's different, every time we are together she makes me really think I'm with someone who cares about me as much as I do about her, I feel the same about her as I do with Cornelia, they even share the same smile I loved about her." He spoke calmly and then shook his head. "It wouldn't be right, I promised Cana I'd only have her as focus in my life and not someone else, I want to be the father she didn't have." He replied and clenched his hand. "As for you, don't break my daughters heart or I'll break you." He added through gritted teeth making me go pale.

Cana Pov

I still couldn't understand how I passed out at the monolith. Everything was just blank. I know I had imagined him and me having a family but could it really be so much to make me pass out?

I stared back down at a medium sized book in my hand which seemed to be hand made. I couldn't believe it, Y/n's mother actually gave me her families cooking book when we left to go back to the guild. I fiddled with it around between my hands. "Irene how much does it mean if a family gives you their cooking book which was passed down through generations?" I asked and she lowered the cup of tea down slowly. Her lips had a smirk on them. "It's very important, especially to those who have a farm, the bigger the book the more they have on their farm which is important for survival. During my reign I had a strict law on who was allowed to have children and who doesn't." She stated and set the cup in its saucer. "You know its always the men who have the power in their hand when it comes to survival, we women are the ones who give them the push so I build the laws around that, it works perfect and the village we went to is the prime example of a culture build around the family and self sustaining. If you and I would find a relationship there is no better place for us than that village, the two of us would need to have children as well who take care of us in our older age." She spoke calmly and leaned back on the bench. "A perfect world where the government doesn't interfere and its only purpose is to keep other armies out of its borders." She added smiling at me.

"Well that does seem logical." I curtly said and she nodded lightly. The entire time we came back Irene had been acting a bit stranger then usual. "I can feel something is on your mind, wanna tell me." I asked and she let out a light hitched gasp. Her face blushed lightly before she turned away.

She took a deep breath before facing back to me. Her hands where shaking lightly "Cana, this may sound foolish but I'm in love with Gildarts, I want him to be with me, I want to know what being truly in love feels like when the other has the same feelings, I never experienced it for myself." She spoke in a hushed tone.

She truly was in love with him, all those giggles all those eye glances and all those close interactions between them. I have no right in being between their love and we as a family should always support each other the best ways we can no mater what. I crossed my arms and stared at her intently. I leaned forward and took hold of her wrist. "Irene, chin up. If you really fell in love with my idiot of a father then so be it, be happy and tell him. I'm not gonna be pushing you away from him, just don't act as my mother if you ever get married." I replied with a light huff at the end and she beamed up in joy.

"Thank you Cana." She spoke and sipped her tea again with glee. "You and I are in the same boat you know, we both are in love." I stated and she nodded. "I thought as much honestly. The way you look at Y/n is the same way I do with Gildarts, but I never could bring myself to kiss him properly." She spoke and I chuckled lightly. I sipped at my drink. "Hear that, the one who is a mother cannot bring herself to openly kiss the one she loves, while I gave my first kiss to Y/n right on his lips." I spoke and she blushed shame faced.

. . .

The gentle breeze of the wind flowed around my swing dress as we made our way down to the Southgate park of Magnolia. "You seem nervous Cana." Bill spoke and I stared up to her. "Well I am, its the first time I'm going to this with someone I care about." I spoke and she chuckled gently. "Someones in love." She chimed and I nodded. I stared down to my feet seeing the brown heel sandals I had chosen for this. I have no idea why I started to wear dresses rather then my usual cargo shorts and bikini top. Maybe its true being in love does change you and makes you think to be more feminine.

"Well at least I'm not as nervous ass Irene about this day." I stated and cocked my head in her direction right next to me. She had a picknick basket in her hand as well which she asked me to help her with. "So why exactly did we make a picknick basket?" I asked and she blushed faintly. "Uh well, since we all are together to view the cherry blossom trees I thought why not have a small picknick there for us too with Y/n and Gildarts." She spoke softly and fixed the ground in front of her with her eyes. I couldn't help the laugh. "Geez my old man really did a number on your emotions you can't even talk about him without getting all giddy." I said and she made a pout. "Same goes to you with Y/n he caught your heart." She shot back and I felt heat rise on my cheeks.

"Hey guys you got finaly here." Y/n yelled and walked right up to us. He wore a white short sleeve shirt and gray pants. "Did you wait long?" I asked and he shook his head in a no. "Not really, Gildarts and I just got here before you and found a nice spot under a tree for us." He stated and pointed down to my father who sat near a tree.

We quickly got there and Y/n helped me to spread the blanket on the ground for us to sit on it. "Gildarts your daughter and I made something to eat for us, I hope you like it." She spoke and opened the basket which had all kinds of sandwiches in it. She pulled out the juice too. It was strawberry flavored water and matcha soda. "Matcha soda, never heard of that." I whispered and Irene opened it, with a simple smack of her finger against the lid. "Its my favorite type of drink, its cool and refreshing and gives energy throughout the day." She spoke and took a sip of it.

We all go scratchcards handed to us by Mirajane before she walked back to the stage. "So what should we do until we are at the grand magic games." I asked and Y/n took a bite of a sandwich. "Well my mother told me she'd like me to come back home to her before the games start and we only need about 5 hours of walking to get to them from Magnolia." He stated and looked down briefly to my stomach.

Right his adopted mother is expecting her second child. I unconsciously placed my hand right on my abdomen when I realized it. "Are you happy?" I asked silently and he stared at me for a moment his eyes going vivid and his breathing stopped for a slight second. He pressed his lips firmly together. "Yeah I guess so, its just-" He stopped taking a deep breath. "Last night I realized that I'm the same age as them when my mom and dad had Miku. Its just weird to think about you and me expecting our first child the same way my parents did." He stated and I blushed furiously looking at him in shock. I was thankful I didn't have anything in my hands right now or else I would have dropped it.

I glanced over to Irene and Gildarts who also looked taken aback by his words. Was he drunk? No he couldn't be he only took a single sip of the strawberry soda Irene gave him and that had zero alcohol in it.

"Bingo." Irene yelled in excitement and I got thrown out of my thoughts by her jolting up. She walked over to it quickly. "And what did I get?" She asked eagerly and Mirjane laughed gently. I let out a sigh as she handed the prize of the restaurant tickets to Irene.

I really wanted to win those tickets for me and Y/n. How could I spend a great time with him. "Hey Cana are you alright, you seem a little gloomy?" Y/n asked and placed his hand right on my shoulder. "Just a little bummed on not getting the prize." I huffed and looked at Irene who sat down all overjoyed at winning it.

She extended her hands out to me. "I want you to have it." She spoke smiling softly and I gave her a confused look. "Why, you were the one winning it and didn't you want it at all costs." I stated and she shrugged lightly. "I know but there is something I don't like about fancy dinners, you never really get full and I as a dragon slayer need a lot of food which can only be found at a normal restaurant or an inn." She spoke and Gildarts frowned. "So that's why our food orders are usually a 100 thousand jewel at minimum." He spoke annoyed and Irene blushed shamefaced.

"I can't help it, whenever I smell food I just get supper hungry and my mouth starts to water." She squeaked and we laughed. He pulled Irene close to himself. "Red, we can go to any restaurant you want and I'll pay ok. My only demand is we do a quest before it." He stated and she nodded.

I could clearly see the blush forming on Irene's face at that nickname, she was practically panting from how embarrassed she is. I let out a light frown while I stared at Y/n from the corner of my eyes.

A/n: Done with this chapter too Cana and Irene are both now sure of their feelings and only hesitant while our two males don't seem to be the typical definition of a guy who doesn't know or care. How will they truly confess to each other. Through a letter or openly to one another? Love changes people most times for the better. Also if any of you know the quintuplets anime I got his sisters name from it. Miku just sounds so cute as a name.
