Chapter 27

Y/n Pov

I stared at the queen of Fiore while she sat down on the head of the table and the seven of us right around it. "What's with the purple haired child? Is this Irene's daughter?" Hisui asked and I turned around to see Irene lightly blush. "No, we found this child at a bandit camp and its an urgent mater of importance, we wanted to contact you but something came in between." She stated and Hisui leaned forward. "I'm listening." She replied with a raised eyebrow.

"This child is the Shoguns daughter." Irene said and Hisui's face dropped from a smile to one of utter shock. "How did she get here?" She asked and looked over at the smiling child. "That's still a mystery we do not know how." Cana replied and leaned back on the seat.

Hisui's eyes were glued on the child and she motioned Irene to come closer. "Can you tell something about the kid and how I'm supposed to help." She asked and Irene nodded. "The child name is Makoto and if we don't get her back soon to her homeland we'd risk a war with the Shogun." She said and placed her hands on the table. Hisui placed a hand on her chin. "The only thing I know about Japan is there is no way we'd get inside without being caught, its a closed nation. Our chances of getting her back are none and if the Shogun finds her we are in a war." She said and Hisui gulped down a lump.

She let out a light huff. "I wanted to keep out of anything that's not a direct problem of my people but I think diplomacy is needed in order to solve this. "I will write a letter to the Shogun and the answer will come in a week or two." She replied and Irene nodded. "If a conflict arises then please let me talk with the Shogun, I know her and I might be able to stop a possible war in the last moment."

I crossed my arms and looked at the map noticing a dragon head on one part of the map. This is where the thing Hisui spoke of should be. Could this be another tomb of the past? It would be the first time we'd enter one with Irene.

My adoptive parents are archaeologists and my favorite past time was looking at all the old maps they had in their office at home. That and to eagerly await being a big brother to my now 10 year old sister. I wonder how they are doing right now. I should try to visit them after the games as soon as possible.

"Hey Y/n are you here." I got taken out of my thoughts by Cana who stood in front of me smiling. "You've been staring at me a bit." She added and I looked away. "I just spaced out." I replied and she smiled teasingly. "Hisui was about to explain to us what we need to do." Cana stated and I looked over to Hisui who nodded. "Yes, the six of you would need to go down to the door and go inside whatever hides behind it. From our own research and knowledge it is supposed to be an ancient underground temple. What's behind it is not known to us but from the size of the door it could be anything, even the remains of dead dragons." She stated and I looked over to Irene.

"Mother you've been awfully quiet this whole time aren't you going to say something?" Erza asked and Irene looked up from the map. "I was thinking about what could be under there. During Dragnof's time a lot of temples had been build, well over a hundred through all of Fiore and some outside of it. In fact we are standing over the remains of my former palace which got destroyed during that time and the door you saw was the underground palace, in which we stored almost everything regarding the war, if we go down there its very likely we'd have a hard time." She stated and Jellal got impatient.

"What will we find down there Irene." He asked and she turned to him. "We will find weapons with enchantments on them, gems, gold and the biggest non living army you'd ever see." She stated and we all looked over to her. Every single one of us had a blank face.

I gulped down a lump from the last words she said. Enemies which are neither alive nor dead. "Irene are we going to fight against zombies?" Erza had asked and I noticed her face going pale as a ghost.

I clenched my jaw not trying to freak out. "No Erza, zombies are way too easy to beat, its much worse." She replied coldly and placed her hands on the table giving us a serious face. "They are Homunculi, made out if Iron or stone, the magic which they have been created with is no longer known and last time I heard of it its considered dark magic as it takes blood to create the magical seals to imbue the magic into them. Forbiden magic as you may call it." Irene stated and I saw Jellal clench his hand tightly. "We could also happen to run into a demon created by my own knowledge. Back in the past as princes of Dragnof I had spend a lot of my time into exploring my magic. Enchanting magic is seen as lost magic today but not even in the past many knew what it could do. I had no one to learn from to use my magic. I surpassed my parents already at the age of 8 in terms of magical power and what I can do with it. So I began to experiment and the human sized ones are those I created of boredom, I call them demons because they do not look human." Irene stated calmly but I heard her anxious breathing.

"Did you use some dark magic when making them?" I asked and she nodded slowly. "When magic first got studied on by the professors we didn't know what the good ones or dark ones were, we just used all of them and no one really cared about it. Only years later people started to slowly see the negatives from some of them." She stated and sat down on her seat looking somehow terrorised. "I've seen too many citizens die or go crazy due to their own magic." She whispered and stayed silent.

Hisui stood up from her seat. "Now lets take a walk, I'm sure Irene needs it." She stated and we all stood up as well.

. . .

Whistling wind and a strangely cold draft moved over us as we all stood at the mentioned door. A large stone dragon head that adorned the door was at our eye level. Hisui and the two exceeds tried to open the door by pushing it. "I think that's pointless." Erza stated and Jellal agreed. He clapped his hands together to get our attention. "I think this door does not open under conventional means, Irene you might have the answer." He said and she observed the door for a moment.

Irene walked right up to it placing her hand on the dragons snout. "There is nothing I can do, this door is shut, the only one who can help now is Gildarts." She stated and we all looked to him. "What me?" He asked in surprise and Irene nodded calmly. "There is one way but that depends on the person itself." She added and then snapped her fingers while slowly walking to Gildarts.

"What are you up to?" He asked and she gave him a cheeky smile. "Don't take it the wrong way Gildarts-sama." She replied and kicked his back making him fly right at the door.

A bright explosion happened right when he hit the door. I had to cover my face as a huge cloud of dust and debree flew past us. So this was the crush magic of Gildarts, the most destructive mage of Fairy Tail.

I coughed from the dust and looked in suspense at what Irene's stunt did. "Do you think it worked." Bill asked and I shook my head in a no. "No idea, I can't see a thing." I stated and I heard a lightly hearty laugh. "It really worked." Irene stated and walked into the plume of dust. "You could have asked me to crush the door at least." I heard Gildarts scoff and he got a giggle in return.

A second later all the dust got blown away by Irene using her hand in a simple motion. I looked in awe at the destroyed door. It was at least 2 meters thick.

"Lets get inside and then we'll see what we need to do." Irene exclaimed grabbing Makoto and stepped inside.

Erza and Jellal ran after her quickly with Cana and me being last to follow. "I don't like this one bit." Cana stated and moved both her hands over her upper arms. "Its strangely cold and the smell, it reeks of trouble."

The corridor darkened quickly and I had to hold Cana to make sure she wouldn't fall as only I was able to see now. "I too think there is something more to this then meets the eye." Irene is either hiding something or she keeps it from us to protect us from it." I replied and we stepped inside a large cave. A hand was shoved right in front of me, stopping me from going further. "Don't walk any further or do you want to die!" Irene hissed at me.

My eyes slowly got adjusted to the darkness of the area. Under us was a whole army of more then thousands of different creatures, some human looking armored ones, some looked like from a Fairy tale and right at the end I could see some that were massive beings. "Dragons, Irene you created dragons to fight for you." I gasped out and she stayed silent. "This is more then we thought." I said and she averted her eyes.

Erza stepped forward "Mother we need answers about those things Y/n just said." She yelled in a furious tone.

I saw her nod. "I'm aware that you feel like being left out, I'll explain this to you. These creatures are the remains of operation Blood knight, the last plan between the total victory of dragons and survival of humankind if it ever came that our dragons lost. I do not know if they still function or if they are merely a a sculpture waiting to break down." Irene said and she gazed back down to the area.

Her expression changed quickly and I looked down too now. "There are several empty spots." I stated and she nodded slowly. Sweat ran down from her temple. She quickly turned to the group "Listen up, we need to be on guard and I need to somehow get a light going in here. It is supposed to light up if we go down the stairs." Irene stated and I thought she was shaking in fear.

"Do you know anything about their magic?" I asked and Irene let out a troubled sigh. "Dragon slayer magic, all of them. They are created for one thing only and that's killing dragons." She replied and a huff was heard from behind us. "Great we could have used their help when the dragons attacked the city." Erza scoffed and a bright flash of light startled us. "Woah that's one giant cave." Erza awed and I turned to see her in a strange outfit with cat ears.

I turned back around and we reached the base of the large cave, standing right in front of the creatures.

A flickering in the distance caught our attention making us all get ready to fight. The light grew bigger until it spread through all of the cave making us see the entire size of the underground area. Cana gasped in shock. "Its massive, an entire town can fit inside here." She awed walking on front. "Y/n I don't know why but this is the most amazing thing I've seen to this day." She stated and walked right up to one of the stone creatures, an armored knight. "Be careful Cana, I don't know what happens if we touch them." Erza stated and equiped her sword.

A pair of fuzzy paws took hold of my neck. "I'm scared Y/n this place smells of trouble." Bill stated and I pat her head gently. "There is nothing to be worried about we'll just go past the sculptures and examine the area for anything that's abnormal." I said and she clutched her head tightly onto me.

. . .

We walked through all the statues and ended up at three large corridors going into separate ways. "We haven't found them yet so that means whatever has woken up is inside there." Irene stated and pointed with her fingers down the dark paths. We got stopped by Erza who stood in front of us. "Wait we know there's more then one so we should split up and each go into one direction, once one of us is done its important we come to help so after beating the enemy you should go help the other teams and draw an arrow into the ground to show the others where you went." Erza stated calmly and grabbed Jellals hand. "I'll take the middle one." She added and walked to it.

I took a short look at the two other ways. "I'll go left, with Cana." I stated and she smiled fondly while we headed over. I turned over to Irene who followed Gildarts quietly.

"Come on Y/n lets go, I want to be first to beat the enemy." Cana stated and I chuckled softly at seeing her being so eager about it.

The further we went down the path the colder it became. I realized it by the sudden steam coming from my nose. "This is strange." I whispered and took a look around the dimly lit way noticing frozen footprints on the ground. "Cana, the monster we'll be facing is no doubt using  ice." I stated and she pulled her cards from her equip space.

"That's great because I've got plenty of fire cards to deal with it." She replied and showed me them. "I've never seen these before, are they rare like celestial keys?" I asked in wonder and she shook her head quickly. "No, they are even rarer, I'm making them on my own with Reedus help, he draws the cards on my request and I can add the desired magic of course only those that are basic, I can't copy spells like Natsu's fire dragon roar or yours. But I can create something close using two cards wind and ice which then creates a blizzard." She said and then fiddled on one card. "Here this one is made due to you as I got the idea from seeing your magic attacks."

I stared at the card for a bit, it had a lance in it which seemed to fly forwards with me being the one who cast it. "Is there a reason why I'm on it?" I asked and she blushed faintly. "Yeah you are the one who did this attack." She replied silently and averted her eyes from me.

We jumped up when we heard something crash on the ground behind us and turned back. "Damn it, we are not gonna get back there are we." I said and Cana nodded. "Yes it looks like whatever we are searching knows we are here." She replied and stared back to me.

I had no idea where exactly we were, from my feeling we walked at least 100 meters in this corridor straight on before we got here. We ended up in a massive room again with giant stalactites resting far above us. "Whatever we do in here we better don't cause an earthquake." Bill stated and I nodded slowly while gulping down a lump.

"Looks like my prey has finally come to meet its end." A weird voice said and we looked in front to see a giant Iron knight walking right to us from the shadow.

"What are you?" Cana asked and the being stayed silent before it let out a laugh. "I'm what my creator told me, the pinnacle of magic evolution. Strong enough to destroy the most dangerous beings in all of Dragnof. My only purpose is to serve her majesty Irene, mother of dragon slayers creator of dragon slayer magic." He stated and clenched his hand tightly into a fist. "And you are in my way!" He yelled darting towards me.

I could barely react to his speed and his fist connected with my stomach making me fly backwards. He hit Cana with a spin kick making her fly towards me. I crashed on the ground rolling. How can something be so strong when its only made out of metal. Does it have some weird link to the host, if yes then the stronger the host gets the stronger the being is.

No if that's the case then if Irene is fighting we'd stand no chance of winning as she takes it serious from the start. I hope we have enough time before she fights.

I stood up slowly. "Cana we need to finish this quick or else we are in big trouble." I said and she nodded. "I know, I can guess what you mean." She stated and threw her cards towards the enemy that came to us. "Cards Magic fire tornado." She yelled hitting him directly at the chest making the cards stick to him.

I ran right towards him. "Ice dragons claw." I yelled hitting his chest causing deep slash marks in it which made him skid back. "If that's all you got I have bad news for you." He mocked and the cuts slowly vanished. "What." I gasped and he uppercut me instantly.

"There is no way you'd ever be able to defeat me by attacking me, I'm created to fight beings well beyond your power." He stated and his body began to form crystals of ice. "Ice dragons raging burst." He yelled and a dozen of spikes shot out from his body towards me.

"Y/n watch out." Cana yelled and I could barely notice the spike coming from behind. "Ice dragons shield." I yelled forming a barrier on the nick of time. "I let out a chuckle. "Looks like your magic is a lot like mine. "I said and he clenched his hand again. I knew he had no real body so he'll likely have unlimited stamina for being a puppet.

Irene told us how these things were created, Homunculi made out of Iron or stone with a seal somewhere on them. I blocked a punch from the enemy but he hit me with a freezing breath attack causing my body to stop moving and I began to freeze from the bottom. He punched me in the face. "Cards magic lighting. "Cana yelled and it got hit by a lighting bolt.

This magic it felt familiar, like I've felt its coldness before, it felt soothing to me. Irene did mention that she enchanted dragon magic into them and my dragon has just the same magic as him, the scent was the same. I felt a small tear roll down my cheek. Mother is that you.

3rd Pov

A lighting bolt struck the enemy from behind causing him to stop moving on the spot. Cana ran towards Y/n pulling out a card. "Cards magic fire." She yelled throwing it at Y/n making the ice melt.

"Y/n I know a way to stop it." She stated and he looked at her attentive. "How, it can't be damaged." He replied and she shook her head. "It can, it has a sigil inside of it which keeps it going, as long as we don't hit it that thing will just stand back up." She replied and Y/n ohed.

"I see so if I want to beat him I need to go all out." He replied and she made a quick nod while taking out some more cards. The enemy began to move again." That's it ice dragons secret art blizzards inferno." He yelled and from his body the entire area froze over including Cana and Bill that was hiding behind her. "Now we can truly see who's the strongest of us." He stated and Y/n looked over to Cana in horror. "What did you do to them?" He asked clenching his hand tightly. The Homunculi laughed mockingly.

Y/n Pov

"They were in our way so of course I had to stop them, if you defeat me they will be free if not then you die with them." He stated and I felt a cold shiver run down my back.

I gritted my teeth tightly. "You monster." I yelled clenching my hand. "If you truly want a fight you'll get it." I shouted and he kept staring at me without moving.

I jumped forwards and punched his stomach making him fly upwards. "Ice dragons Roar." I shouted and hit his entire body making him shout. I realized the moment Cana's spell hit his neck that something was off. His mark had to be there and if I can hit it right I can just destroy him. He crashed back down and I jumped over. "Ice dragons hammer. "I yelled and swung down right at the spot I thought his sigil was. supposed to be.

The moment my ice hammer hit the sigil the entire monster let up in a bright light. "I can feel it her highness is giving me her power to fight you." His voice broke through and my hammer burst into tiny pieces upon connecting with it.

I was hit by a shock wave from him and thrown backwards. "Damn it how can this be I thought we had it." I whispered and I looked up to the monster. His armor clacked at every move and from his body came a reddish color. "So Irene finally decided to fight huh." I murmured with a smirk. The scarlet despair has woken up.

I inhaled deeply the cold air around me there was something with this ice that I couldn't put my finger on. I darted forwards. "You fool you just gave me everything to beat you." I shouted and kicked his helmet making him fly backwards. I grabbed one of the ice chunks and bit inside it. Since its not my own magic I can devour it just fine. At least I hope so.

I bit into it and swallowed it. I could feel my magic rising immediately. "Now then lets fight." I shouted and blocked the punch from him. I grabbed him throwing him over and into the ground.

I felt my own magic suddenly increase and a red mist suddenly form around me. "What's happening." I whispered and the enemy stared up to me. "So her majesty is here she just used her magic on you." He replied and I smirked.

"Then I only have one shot left." I replied and moved my hands to the side. "Ice dragons secret  blizzard zero." I shouted moving my hand in front in a punching motion and from my hand came a large beam of ice shards. I stared at the enemy with a smirk who was turned into tiny pieces due to the millions of tiny ice shards hitting him.

He fell down and I stopped the attack due to having no magic left. I took a deep breath and fell on my butt. The ice slowly melted around me and I chuckled. "Looks like I won finally." I whispered and looked over to Cana who was freed from the ice. I crawled over and placed her head on my lap. "We won." I whispered and she opened her eyes slowly. She stared up to me with her soft purple eyes. "Thank you, I thought we'd never win against him." She replied silently and I just stroked her cheek. "I wouldn't have won without you." I whispered and she smiled softly at me. Her hand grazed my cheek slowly.

A/n: So Chapter 27 done and this had some more plot about the past of Irene. The dragon who gave the magic to those beings is the same one who gave Y/n's mother the slayer magic with Irene's help as we know by Fairy Tails lore Irene was the one who enchanted the magic into the people turning them into slayers or the dragons did it on their own. She surely would have experimented with artificial humanoid dragon slayers like the 4th generation ones as well.
