Wendy Pov 

I ran as far away as I could before the attack would be able to reach me. "Ice dragons wing attack." He shouted from above and the entire area was encased in ice from the top of the threes to the very ground causing me to slip and skid across the area right onto a palm tree. I rubbed the front of my head. "Ouch this hurt." I whined before I felt someone place their hand on my shoulder. "Wendy you need to go I'll handle this on my own I promise, I'll be there with you soon but first I need to get that jerk for trying to roast us." He snarled and ran off towards the temple. The person we fought against had ran away after Y/n's last attack, giving me time to retreat.

"Wendy lets head to the village, I'm sure Cana and Bill have the same idea." Carla spoke and helped me up. I nodded and we began to run to the village, it wasn't actually far from the temple but we ran in circles the first time and in reality its just a half hour walk. The sun slowly dawned over the horizon giving me enough to see to run without risking to fall. "Do you think Irene-san is already here, I'm certain with her magic she can quickly come." I stated and Carla looked up to me with a serious face. "I'm certain she's already here, only thing I don't know is why she hasn't come to us, usually you'd be the first she searches for as her pupil and literal daughter from how she treats you." Carla replied and I blushed embarrassed. Irene was like a mother to me, she cooks for me often shows me how to clean a home from head to toe, how to make the laundry and she made me learn how to have dignity, something Erza did not know growing up as a slave. Which caused Irene to promptly force Makarov to throw Erza out of her dorm and set into Irene's home that is at the edge of town not much further away then the Fairy Hills dorm actually and its my second home. 

We reached the village soon enough, Carla and I were exhausted from running so fast and we both stopped right at reaching it. "We arrived finally." I said and took a few breaths before standing up. "You are Wendy right, someone is in that tend over there waiting for you." A woman said and I turned my head to the tend.

I walked to it wondering who would want to see me. I opened it with my right hand pulling the curtain to the side. A cold chill went through me when I saw Cana and Bill bound on the ground with both having their mouths covered by a cloth. Right behind them sat Rose and Irene with a large two handed battle axe in her hand. "You took your sweet time." She exclaimed with a deadly glare. 

I let out a shriek from being scared by her glaring at me before her expression changed. "I want answers." She stated and motioned for me to sit down near her.

I did as she wanted and got closer to her. "First I want to know why you didn't get them back to the guild, I'm sure with your cuteness you could have gotten them back in no time." She stated and then stared me up and down. "At least you would have been more successful then trying to use your seduction." She added with a slight chuckle.

I gave her a deadpan look as she sometimes made comments about my appearance which I could do nothing about for not growing as fast. I held back the urge to yell out why I'm so small. "Cana used her card dimension to trap me and Carla, that's how she played us." I stated and Irene made an Oh sound while a smirk spread on her lips.

"Looks like someone is going to be punished already." She said and stood up. "We are leaving as soon as I get a hold of Y/n." She said and I stared up at her. "We can't we need to help the people of the village and we found a dragon just below the temple, some crazy person wants to free it and defeat it showing that he is as good as a real dragon slayer." I said and Irene stopped in her tracks looking down at me.

"I don't care what the problem of this village is, someone else can accept this request as you didn't do it." She replied and I grabbed her by the arm. "We can't leave, Y/n and Cana would have gotten here anyway, even without the job request as this is one of the places the map had marked." I stated and Irene turned around. 

She looked to the side thinking about it. "Even so, all three of you broke the guild rules and you have to be punished for it." She stated and pulled her axe in front. "Might as well give the punishment out now." She exclaimed and raised her axe into the air.

I turned my head away as I didn't want to see this. Cana and Bill both let out a terrifyingly loud scream causing my ears to hurt. I opened my eyes again and saw the ropes lay on the ground cut, with Cana and Bill looking at Irene in pure terror. Their faces were white and their soul seemed to have come out. "Cana, Bill don't die!" I yelled and began to shake them.

I tried healing them before I felt a light hit on my head. "Wendy, healing them is pointless, you can heal magic deficiency and injuries but not near death shocks." Irene stated in annoyance looking down at me.

I slumped down looking at both. "Just give them a few seconds." She said and her axe turned into a staff while she sat right next to me. She got my attention by tapping my shoulder. "Wendy if Y/n really wants to fight that dragon you should know something, this temple here on this island was once used to sacrifice humans to dragons during the times before my family had taken over in Dragnof over 500 years prior to today." She stated and I gave her a confused look.

"Does that mean. . . The dragon down there is evil?" I asked and she made a slow nod. "Its very likely to be one of those dragons who ate humans and only saw them as food, if they did not get enough sacrifices whenever they showed up they'd either destroy parts of the island, kill large amounts of life stock burn the village down or would kill half the citizens and eat them instead of only eating what had been agreed on." She stated calmly and I felt her press her hand on my shoulder. "Facing a dragon is extremely dangerous, we cannot just head towards it and fight." She exclaimed and I looked down to the ground.

"We cannot leave this island without defeating the Dragon Irene-san, the people on this island are in extreme danger we need to help them, we are Fairy Tail and we never give up." I replied and looked at her with pleading eyes. 

A solemn look showed on her face and she made a small frown. "I'll never be able to say no to those eyes, fine I'll see what I can do at least, I need to know what kind of dragon it is, its color and element are crucial to defeating it, the more we know about it the easier we can prepare." She replied and gave me her attention.

I made a quick nod. "It's a green dragon, the size seems to be about the width of the guild and its held captive inside of ice." I replied and Irene began to think about it. "Green dragons usually use elements that are close to the earth, I'd say it could be an earth dragon that can cause earthquakes or a dragon which can shoot plants out of the ground and has a breath attack that fires millions of small seeds like bullets. Before Cana and Y/n decided to steal this S class quest I was at my home searching up the places on the map and stumbled on a few things I had forgotten, the dragon that is encased in ice was fought against by some of the dragon slayers in my kingdom, I'm certain the village had suffered a lot during that time and they decided to reach out to us and ask for dragon slayers to kill the beast, usually we always operated in pairs of two and made sure to know what we are dealing with, we had about 10 times more dragon slayers then there was dragons but the sheer power of the dragons was easily enough to kill half of my slayers at the begin of the war alone, in the end only about a 100 had survived without turning into dragons but thanks to Acnologia even those who did not turn to monsters died by him. Only me and the six of you are now alive 400 years later still holding the legacy of a long forgotten magic." She explained and Cana sat up now slowly.

"Are you crazy, you could have killed me!" Cana yelled glaring at her and Irene merely stared down at Cana in silence having a proud smirk on her face from scaring the brunette half to death, I was sure Cana would have almost wet herself. "If I did want to kill you I wouldn't use an axe, too much to clean up and besides you still need to face your punishment." She stated and her hands rested on her hips. "Lets go we'll have to catch Y/n if we don't want to see half of the island be vaporized in no time by a pissed off dragon."

Y/n Pov

I ran through the halls searching for the enemy who ran away from me. "Damn it why are these guys always running, its like they don't want to fight me." I yelled and stopped as I reached a dead end. I found myself in a room full of stone caskets with names on them. I walked to the nearest one and found a dragon symbol on it. "Here lies Galatil slayer of Aragorn the green nature dragon." I read and felt a slight sting in my heart. So dragon slayers are not always the ones beating the dragons sometimes the dragon wins.

I placed my hand on the base of the tomb. "Your death was not meaningless, I will make sure this dragon remains sealed or if he gets freed I'll defeat it." I whispered and then heard footsteps come closer to the room I was in. "Its such a tragedy a real dragon slayer could not defeat a dragon but I with a lacrima made with fire magic will prove that I can defeat it even without the magic known as dragon slaying magic." He stated and I was now face to face with the jerk at fault.

I glared at him. He wore a full face dragon mask but I could practically see his cocky smirk behind it. "You really think the strongest beings ever to exist will just be defeated by some weak fire mage." I shot at him in anger. "Dragons are not the gods we make them to be, I'm going to be the first to prove that to everyone." He replied and let out a laugh.

I could only shake my head and faceplamed slowly. "Oh really, if you think you can defeat a dragon without being a dragon slayer yourself." I stated and smirked at him.

"Show me what you got." He yelled and ran towards me while putting his first on fire.

I just gave him an amused smile while I put my hands together to the side and into fists. "Lance of the ice dragon." I shouted and out of my hands shot a large ice lance hitting him frontally causing him to fly backwards and crash on the wall. "Such power." He mumbled before passing out.

"And that's the power of a dragon slayer, a dragon is even stronger." I stated and walked past him.

I still couldn't find any answer to who was the one putting up the ice on the dragon, from Irene''s explanation only four had that magic, I could narrow it down if I somehow knew who was send here to this island.

But there is no way anyone could know it and Irene isn't even here on the island or else I'm sure it would be blown to pieces. I ran towards the staircase to reach the dragon as something weird was happening. Earthquakes began to shake the temple causing dust and debris to fall on the ground. "I hope this temple is build sturdier then it looks." I said and ran through a cloud of dust coming out right at the cavern with the dragon.

The ice had cracked in some parts and I was beginning to think the dragon could come out of it soon. Was I even strong enough to face a dragon which killed a dragon slayer in its past? I had to be careful or else we all could die.

An array of voices was heard and quick footsteps. "This is where the dragon is sealed." A voice that I knew was from Cana stated and I turned around to see Wendy, Cana, Bill, Carla, Irene and another exceed. "Y/n I'm glad you are ok, I was worried a bit." She stated and ran towards me.

I looked over to Irene lightly nervous. "Irene I'm glad you are here." I stated and she gave me a stern look. "We'll talk later about it but first we need to take care of the dragon." She stated and stared at it going wide eyed. "That's Aragorn the nature dragon." Irene added and turned to Wendy. "He belongs to the earth dragons category of the bestiarium drakonis."

"And how can we beat him." Wendy asked letting Carla go while looking up to Irene who stared the dragon up and down. "As far as I remember I had send a dragon slayer with crystal dragon slaying ability and an ice dragon slayer, I think it was Diane, they both had a very close relationship and fought often during the war but unfortunately he died on his last assignment before all went to hell." She replied and Wendy stared at the dragon still in uneasiness.

I clenched my hand tightly. "So this dragon is the one who killed Galatil." I said and Irene nodded in silence. 

The cracks in the ice began to become bigger and I started to prepare for the fight before I felt a hand on my shoulder. "Y/n I'll handle this, Aragorn is by far stronger then you, I don't doubt your strength but I want to make sure no one gets injured while I'm around, I'm responsible for what happened to you Y/n its a mothers duty to make sure her children are save." She stated and pushed me behind her. "As for that Dragon he's powerful." She added and a sudden red light appeared around her.

The magic energy increased quickly around her. "Sage dragon mode." She yelled staring at the dragon which was more and more breaking the ice. Her cheeks and hands began to have scales on them while her pupils became slited. 

The ice burst apart making large chunks fly around and crash on the walls. "Aragorn king of the Nature dragons I Irene Belserion have come to finish what my kin had started long ago." She stated and the dragon now glared at her with his eyes full of rage. Irene launched forward and reeled her first back. "Dragons and humans coexisted for decades and you had to ruin it, I will never forgive you dragons for destroying what we had build together. Sage dragons Iron fist!" She yelled and connected her fist with the chin of the dragon causing a major shock wave to happen.

The dragon flew backwards and stopped in mid air staring down at Irene. "You humans are just food for us, I will never understand how dragons could live with you, you are beneath us in every way, you are lesser beings." He roared and opened his mouth which was glowing green. "Like I would allow you to attack us." Irene scoffed while a small smirk appeared on her face. She seemed like she enjoyed this fight against one of the deadliest beasts known to us, her expression was none of fear but excitement to face such a being, one which would cause people to run in fear she just smiled and fought it head on. "Sage dragons Roar." She yelled and a red beam of light flew against the green beam of the nature dragon causing an explosion to happen.

"So this is the power of Irene huh?" Cana stated and stared at her in awe as we couldn't help much. "What do you mean?" I asked and Cana just chuckled softly. "Erza told me back in the Alvarez war she could feel it when fighting against her own mother, her power was nowhere near Irene's current one and she only won because she let her, this right in front is her true power, the power to protect those you care about the strength only a wizard of Fairy Tail could posses." Cana explained and stared at Irene who was going toe to toe with the dragon in the air.

Irene landed on the ground getting into a jumping position staring at the dragon that hovered above her. "I would never let you endanger the lives of my guild mates or any citizen of Fiore, the ones who accepted me with open arms and who would risk their own lives to save mine just like I would do it, your reign of terror ends now! Sage dragons secret art piercing shot." She yelled and shot forward like a bullet, wings of her magic color appeared on her back and she pierced the dragon with her whole body before landing behind the dragon staring back towards it as it fell down on the ground.

We all kept looking at the dragon to see if it stands up while Irene jumped towards us from behind it. Her dragon force disappeared like nothing. "Its dead, the dragon is defeated." Irene stated proudly before walking to it in silence placing her hand on its snout. "Such beautiful and intelligent beasts, its a shame they are extinct but its for the better when they are filled with blood lust and destruction." She murmured while slowly caressing the side of the jaw.

Wendy walked up to Irene slowly. "Irene-san why did you kill this dragon without hesitating if you care so much about them?" She asked slowly and Irene let out a deep sigh. She stood back up and hugged Wendy making her gasp in surprise. "Its a little complicated but I know when a dragon is dangerous and this one here was known to eat humans, I even had to kill a dragon who turned rogue which was living in my own kingdom, its really hard to do but I had to its like having to put down a pet you love but you know letting them stay alive is more torture then good its the lesser evil and some choices will just be that, do you chose the greater or lesser evil a lot of people would rather not chose at all which means running from their choices. I as the queen had to make them many times and many of those I regret deeply, I lost more then I had by making the choice, sometimes the lesser evil turns out to be the greater one and the dragon war was just that, if I never would have taken the choice of creating dragon slayer magic but rather invest more in healing the dragons then maybe Acnologia never would exist and the dragons would still be flying high, souaring through the sky like the beings they are." She replied and let go of Wendy.

Irene's eyes met mine when she turned her gaze to me. "I'm truly sorry for what I have put you through Y/n, being a dragon slayer has one very large problem, the more you use your magic the more you will turn into a literal monster, a human turned dragon such as I once had. I know of no possible way of curing it." She said and took me into a hug making me hit her hard chest plate before letting me go. But as soon as she let go I was met with her hand raised high flying down slapping me. "And that's for running off to the job without me!" She yelled glaring at me.

I rubbed the cheek with my hand. "Geez you take being the guilds mother a little too serious." I stated and a soft chuckle came from her lips. "I guess so but I have to be strict as the mother of dragon slayers, a bunch of noisy brats as Makarov would say." She replied and gave me a proud grin.

I turned over to Cana that was eyeing me worriedly. "Y/n I hope you aren't injured, you've been alone this entire time and fought?" She asked and went close to me looking at my face. "Mhm I was fighting several of the Dragon priests men but it turns out that guy just had a very inflated ego and was a one shot drop." I replied and Cana touched my cheek gently. "I'm just glad you aren't injured." She replied and I raised an eyebrow. "Why would you worry about me?" I asked and she shook her head. "Its nothing really, its just normal between guild mates to worry about someone you see as your family." She replied and turned away sighing lightly. Irene began to walk to the exit with us behind her.

This is it for this chapter, a fight against a dragon with the dragon slayer queen herself. I thought of having Y/n fight him with Irene lending a hand but decided to get her to face him alone while the rest of the group sees her full dragon slayer power that she never showed. I hope I did a great job with the fight and next up they will be back at the village.
