The Quadrapeds' Night
A/N: In this Chapter, there might be smut. If you don't like it skip over it, if you do... then keep reading. Above's video is for Fall Out Boy's new song, HOLD ME TIGHT OR DON'T. Great song!
Patrick's P.O.V
I looked at the others, standing. "I'm gonna go check on Stella. You guys finish eating." I said, heading outside to find Stella.
Looking around the yard, and other places, I thought I'd find her. I looked around a patch of willow trees, seeing Stella in the middle of them all. I walked over and sat beside her as she said,
"My mother would bring me out to a field like this every time she had the chance to get away from doing Queenly duties. She'd be leaning against a tree, teaching me how to use magic, and would play hide and seek with me. We'd always wait till nightfall to look at the stars, and then when we went home, she'd tell me a story about one of my ancestors."
She looked at me, silent tears going down her face. Wiping the tears away, I smiled softly. "She sounds like a great mother." I said, getting a soft, but sad, chuckle.
"She was. She did everything she could to keep me and my Father happy, even when she was too tired to want to do anything, she put everything in her to care for me. Father would watch me when she wasn't home, and we would watch Disney movies together. When I was upset, he would dress up as Gaston to make me laugh, he had his voice down to a peach just to get me to laugh even more." Stella said, smiling gently.
I chuckled, and got an idea. Standing up, I stood in front of her, holding a hand out towards her, getting a confused look from her. I smiled.
" Come on, I want to take a walk. Look around this area, after all, I'm sure we'll be here for a while." I said, chuckling.
Stella smiled, and took my hand with a nod. "You sure the others will be okay with us going off without telling them?" She asked as she stood next to me, looking back at where the cabin is.
"All they know is that I came out to see if your alright, and you are, so now, we're just taking a stroll in the woods, to get a feel of our new territory." I said, taking one of her hands into mine gently with an innocent smile.
Stella chuckled, and looked down at our hands with a smile. "You never seize to amaze me. Come on, let's see if there's any good places around here." She said, and lifted her head, nodding it towards the opposite direction of the Cabin.
"I knew you'd see it my way." I said, playfully smirking as we went further into the woods.
Stella's POV
Patrick and I had gotten back to the cabin after our six and a half hour stroll through the woods, give or take another hour since we fed on a couple deer before heading back, and before you ask, we were in our dragon forms; even we know how to at least show some decency. As we were walking up to the cabin, we noticed how dark the sky had gotten.
"We'd better hurry. Don't want the others thinking we died." Patrick joked slightly, making me giggle.
He had done that the entire time on our walk, we also got to know each other better, and I came to find out that we both enjoy Sci-fi movies, although we had an argument over which trilogy was better between Star Wars and Star Trek.
Once we got to the cabin, we could see Pete, Rae, and Gerard, standing, with their arms crossed, and a not-so-happy look.
"Where have you two been?" Rae asked, frowning.
I smiled nervously, saying,
"We were just on a walk. We were on our way back."
Pete shook his head with a sigh.
"What if hunters had got you two? How would we have been able to help you if we had no idea where you were?" He asked.
I sighed softly. "We'll let you guys know when we go out like that." I spoke gently, getting a nod from Pete, Rae, and Gerard.
"If that's it, let's get going. I don't want to wait around with these 'Hunters' here." Gerard said distainfully.
I rolled my eyes. "Gerard, they aren't bad. Brendon and Hayley would have given up our hide out the moment we got here if that was the case." I said, and walked over to the field, shifting.
I laid there patiently, seeing one by one the others walk out and shift as well. I nuzzled Patrick, since he was the first to follow after he spoke to the others, then Pete, Joe, Gerard, Halsey, Andy, and Mikey.
Once we were ready to go, we quickly flew off to the Mating Grounds, my mind kept running to what Rae had told me the day I met Patrick.
"Who doesn't like a Dragon?"She asked.
"More than you would think, Rae. Dragon hunters have hunted us since the Renaissance , and they still do. Just be lucky your human." I said saying the last part softly.
"Hey, you'll find your mate soon, so don't be down. I got to go, Midnight is hissing like crazy." Rae said hanging up the phone.
I smiled softly, realizing that I did find my mate, I just didn't see it yet. We were close to the mating grounds when Patrick flew close to me, him most likely already catching the scent of other male dragons. I glanced at his eyes, seeing that his pupils were dilated to slits, an obvious sign he was beginning to be possessive. We landed, not shifting to our human form, and I looked around, seeing different breeds of dragons, all from hidden areas in the U.S. Behind me, I heard Mikey and Gerard wrestling each other, growling and hissing, making Patrick growl slightly.
"Would you two stop acting like hatchlings?" He hissed, glancing back at them.
I heard shuffling behind me, and looked to see the two had separated from each other, with Gerard narrowing his eyes at Patrick.
"What's got your wings knotted up?" Gerard asked with a huff.
Patrick narrowed his eyes as well saying,
"This is the only time of the year we can see other dragons so go socialize instead of playing."
Gerard growled, lowering his body, and slinked away, glaring at Patrick as he went to talk to other dragons, muttering under his breath.
I looked at Patrick with a small frown. "Was that really necessary?" I asked him gently, tilting my head, as he started to walk towards the fields.
"He needs someone to keep him from worrying about when Brendon or Hayley will decide to tip Thomas off at where we are when they get tired of us. Brendon made a deal, I highly don't he'd want to die at a young age." Patrick said as everyone else headed their separate ways to have company for the evening.
I sighed, following Patrick, looking around, enjoying the view of wide open plains. Flowers of different kinds spread out, large trees blooming, and a creek running through the area for smaller creatures with many different dragons flying or walking around with hatchlings playing with each other as their parents talked with friends they hadn't seen for so long in fear of getting caught. I noticed that Patrick was looking around as well, his face calm, much calmer than a moment before with Gerard.
"Do you ever wonder when we will come out of hiding, and really show the hunters and Thomas what we can do as an army?" Patrick asked calmly, looking over at me.
I stood beside him, and smiled sadly. "Of course I have, but sometimes you have to look at reality. Most of the dragons here have families to look after. They want to make sure that their safe and nowhere near harms way." I answered, looking at the groups of dragons with hatchlings.
Patrick sighed, nuzzling my cheek. "I just want our kind to be able to live their lives without worrying about getting caught by Hunters." He said softly.
I nuzzled him back. "We'll figure it out somehow. I'm still up to kicking Thomas's ass." I said with a smile, getting one from Patrick as well.
I heard screeches and hisses from the hatchlings and chuckled. I looked over, watching some of the Adolescents talk with each other, a few of them giving each other suggestive looks, making me chuckle softly. Patrick chuckled as he realized what I was chuckling about.
"I wonder what would have happened if we were their age." Patrick said with a smile, watching them.
I smiled gently, as memories of a boy with strawberry blonde hair was running around my backyard with me. Looking at Patrick, I said softly,
"I think...We were friends."
