Tara'li

It is odd to walk around as a winged Elf, even though I've done it several times these past months. Even after several years as a dragon it does feel natural, though I'm not used to it yet. With my family I'm staying in Celaris. My gem of a husband is currently talking with Celeste about a possible integration of her into the dragon community while my kids and I wander around in the fortress, me giving them a tour of the sights. Now we are entering the hall of heroes. I'm surprised to see a statue at the end of the hall. As we walk there I see it is flanked by two others. On the left is the leader, on the right Celeste. But between them is something else.

It shows a winged Elf with a spear in her left hand and a carved Elven sword in the other. From the armor I can already see who it is. The statue depicts me not standing with raised weapons like the others, but jumping from some ledge, spear and sword pointing forward towards a large, fat Demon. My mouth drops open. My statue depicts my last major battle. Besides me, one of my five kids puts its paw on the base of the statue. 'Is this you, mommy?'

I put my hand on the back of her neck. 'Yes, that was me. Before you were born. This was when I killed the Demon Lord with moms sword.'

I hear Trashkanir's voice behind us. 'You truly are a hero of all races, my golden queen. They will remember you way past your death.'

I nod. 'There is only one thing to do. I never fully put my mom to rest. It is time I did such.'

I unstrap the sheet with moms sword in it and climb on the base of the statue, where I reach up to the belt of my statue. There I strap the sheet on the statue. 'Now her sword will always be carried by me, as she wished, though her soul can rest now.'

Trashkanir shakes his head as I climb down. 'And what if the Demons return? Who will kill their lord then?'

I smile softly. 'If they return I will retrieve the sword. But for now, it will remain here. It is time for me to let go of mom and focus on being a good mother myself.'
