Preparations

Juan? Little Juan?

"Weren't the wedding preparations postponed along with the wedding?" William asks, blocking the door's entrance.

"Yes, but your father asked that she be fed and prepared ahead of time. The maid will arrive in an hour or so." the boy says quickly.

I'm still confused about his last name. When did that happen?

"Very well then, I expect my fiance to enjoy her meal. Any complaints and you will be burnt, badly." William threatens.

The boy then bows, followed by William leaving the room.

I feel so much better.

As soon as he leaves, the boy closes the door behind him.

"Juan?" I ask cautiously, watching as he takes off his hood.

"Jennifer." He smiles and runs towards me.

After a bone crushing hug, he frantically rushes to the cart, fishing out something from the bottom.

"Here, drink this." He hands me a small bottle with a strange blue liquid swirling within. "It'll make you feel better by neutralizing the spell's affect for a while."

I quickly gulp it down, feeling a coolness flow throughout my body.

"How did you come here?" I ask, finishing the rest of the liquid.

"I just knocked out another servant and stole his cart." He says proudly.

"No, I meant how did you arrive here."

"Oh, Marc sent me. We met not a lot time ago. I was looking for medicine and stumbled upon him."

How come Marc didn't tell me?

"How are you going to get me out of here then?" I hesitantly ask.

"Well, in our situation, the best thing to do at the moment is just keep playing along. Of course until the actual wedding. By that time, Marc and all your friends will be ready. If not, we escape together."

I slowly smile, leaning against the mahogany dresser. It's surface is cool, as well as the rest of the furniture. My senses begin to tingle, fingers shaking unexpectedly.

"Is there a dragon near here?" I almost whisper, as if I can hear the beast.

"Yes, I actually think they have one captive near the dungeons." Juan says, pulling something else out of the cart.

"In the dungeons?" My blood begins to boil.

"Yes, I believe its for the prisoners." He replies, turning to me.

He hands me a beautifully carved bow, made of cedar for the upper and lower limbs and sinew for the bowstring. Its thoroughly polished, wood glistening in the  faint light.

In his other hand is a large quiver, holding about 25 arrows. Small, but larger in number. I pull one out, inspecting the arrowhead made of carved bone. But the bone was strange, like if it could break easily, but was still very dense.

"Where did you get all of this?" I ask, curious about the arrows.

"I made it by myself, d-do you like it?"

"Of course, I love it!" I was yet again impressed. If only I could just possibly demonstrate my skills...

In a hurry, Juan gathers back all the equipment, stuffing it into the hidden skirts of the cart.

"Wait, what happened to your last name?" I ask quickly as he puts on an apron.

"That was fake. I'm pretty sure we'd be in a different situation if everyone knew I was your younger brother here."

After Juan finishes, he starts to talk loudly.

"I believe the maid will be here in a moment. I hope we meet again, sis- I mean Ms. Cruzal-" I cut him off before he sounds even more suspicious.

"It's okay, I understand."

Before he exits I give him a loose hug, pulling his hood back on and ushering him out. Just moments later, a tall and petite woman steps in the door. Her curly brown hair is held in a high bun, accentuating her flawless dark skin. She has a maid's outfit on, and it isn't very pleasant. Or long for that matter. I feel bad for the women working here.

"Cruzalez, fiancé of William Paradia, correct?" She spoke sharply, as if she had rehearsed those lines beforehand.

"Yes." I reply, looking into her deep brown eyes.

It's terrible to say, but I must keep up the act or else escaping from here may be more difficult than necessary.

"As you may have already been informed, your wedding has been postponed to a later hour. According to the king, preparations will allow you to be wed at midnight give or take a few minutes."

"Very well than, who-"

"-I will be dressing you and applying your makeup. Go along, take a shower. I will be ready with your dress in a moment."

She motions me to a door right in front of the enormous bed. I open the door and gasp when I see the inside.

Everything is gorgeous and neat. Though the candle light isn't real, it's beautiful and it flickers as if it contained a real flame within. I feel the rough difference between the smooth marble and rough quartz.

(A/N: I know it's completely different, but I couldn't find matching pics and I just really think they are gorgeous. If only....)

On the other side is the tub, automatically filling itself up. Inside of the water were scattered rose petals. In the corner is a small candle accompanied by the words "RELAX".

I begin to open a cabinet filled with hundreds of soaps and shampoos. I pick out a purple lavender soap along with a soothing cinnamon shampoo.

I begin to take off my clothes, laying them in a pile on the floor. Slowly, I enter the bathtub, laying down in the warm blue pool of water. A sudden whirring sound is heard, causing me to stand up. White foam comes shooting out of a small hole next to my thigh.

Whew it's only bubbles.

I watch as the suds increase, covering all of my exposed limbs. Letting myself sink in the water, I shut my eyes tightly. Rising back up, I'm surprised to feel a light shower of water. I quickly rinse my eyes, opening then. In front of me is a metal showerhead pushing outwards from the upper walls of the bathtub. The rest of the water in the tub is slowly draining away.

I hear another whirring noise and notice that there is a red shower curtain surrounding the tub. Taking the soap I picked out, I rub my hands against it, cleansing my body. The smell of lavender fills the air, reminding me of Marc.

After I'm done, I pick up the shampoo and pour it onto the scalp of my hair, massaging it deeply. Cinnamon then wafts in the air and only Niko fills my mind. I then wash it out and do this 3 more times. When I'm completely finished, I somehow manage to turn off the water and step out. Water seeps into the white mat as I dry myself and put my hair up in a towel.

I take another towel and wrap myself in it, walking towards the cabinet. I pull out a container of conditioner, as well as a comb. My hair is strangely tangled.

Well this is going to be difficult...

"May I be of assistance?"

I turn to face the maid in relief. She is standing by the door, observing me struggle.

"Y-yes, please." I am overcome with embarrassment.

With just the movement of her fingers, she takes the conditioner out of my arms and puts it back in the cabinet. She didn't even touch it.

"Come, sit."

She motions for me to sit in a brown chair that I hadn't seen before. She then leaves the bathroom for just a second to retrieve the most beautiful dress I have ever seen. Before I can take a good look at it, she sets it aside and inspects my hair.

I watch as she runs her hands through my hair, untangling each and every strand. I instantly think of Bree, and feel tears stinging my eyes, but I hold them back. The moment I look up, I realize my hair is completely done as well as my makeup. I even have my dress on.

What kind of sorcery is this?

"Only thing left to do is your nails and you'll be done." The lady says, plucking out some clear nail polish from her pockets.

When she is done, I'm unrecognizable. I look like a completely different person. Well, at least I think I do.

[A/N]( Yes, this has been edited and "color-changed")

I feel like a queen, but not in a good way. Well, at least I'm gorgeous. Before the maid can leave, I stop her.

"Thank you-"

"No need to tha-"

I cut her off.

"-No, seriously. I'm grateful for all of this. You remind me of a friend of mine. Do you know anything about Locten?"

As soon as I say the word 'Locten' she freezes and I know I hit her weak spot.

"W-well I do, but-"

"You're a Locten aren't you?"

{Flashback}

"But then how do you know when someone else is a Locten?" I ask Bree as she chews on a piece of lettuce.

"Easy, you just look at the way we do things. Lots of Loctens prefer to levitate things. I like to do things manually and not use up my energy. We are also very in tune with jewels or any type of fashion. No matter how secretive a Locten may be, they always engrave an 'L' in the largest gem or peice of jewelry."

{End Of Flashback}

"Uh... Well, I can't really say." I can tell she was caught off guard.

I take off the jewel used for my necklace and inspects it carefully. A beautiful 'L' is shown in script.

"Can you really? I have a friend who is a Locten. I can tell that you are one." I say confidentially.

Eyes wide, she gets down on her knees and pleads forgiveness.

"I-I am so sorry. I should've told you the truth right awa-"

"Stop. Why are you apologizing?"

I can't help but feel bad. Why did she thing I was going to do some thing?

"Why did you think I was going to do something? I wouldn't hurt you over something like that." I say, lowering my voice.

"You're not like the other ones." She whispers and looks at me admirably.

I ponder for a moment, not knowing why she said that. Then I remember that I'm considered a princess here. That's when I hear another voice from the door.

"Standing your ground already, eh?"

Hey guys! Hope you enjoyed the chapter! It took me a while to configure the pictures and change some of the colors.

You guys know I'm quite lazy...

I'm actually surprised I managed to cram in 1800+ words in just one day.... I feel accomplished.

In case you couldn't tell, the shoes probably don't match, but I just went with it... you never can see the shoes of a bride anyways, right?

....Right?

Also, here is an updated version of Jennifer.

The picture at the beginning of the chapter is Juan, and yes he does look like that. I had another picture in mind, but I couldn't find it on my phone.

Well, here are your questions...

1. What do you think of Jennifer's outfit?

2. Who do you think came out the door?
