"Standing your ground already, eh?"

I turn around to see William's father, who is smiling.

"Wait I wasn-"

"I assume you are ready, correct?" He cuts me off, holding his arm out.

Unwillingly, I loop my arm around his, forcing a smile.

"Yes. I'm ready."

.
.
.

After walking a bunch of stairs and hallways, we stop at a large gate guarded by two soldiers. As if out of thin air, Myra appears, standing in front of me. I watch as she sneers, disgusted by my dress.

Oh how I wish I could-

"You may do it now, Myra." William's father says, stepping away from me.

Wait, what?

"Don't worry, I'm just going to use some of my special powers to make sure at least a part of you cooperates with us." Myra says, bringing her hands up.

She murmurs a few strange words and then points towards me. I make an effort to block, but whatever she just did still gets to me. That's when I notice that there is someone by my side... myself?

"You must not be very well acquainted with Myra's powers, Jennifer. The power to duplicate, a handy one indeed."

I step back, and the clone does the same, copying my movements.

"What the hell is happening..."

The second I turn around, the two guards grab me, not letting me escape. But I am confused by their strengths. They don't grab me as hard, but still don't loosen my grip as I struggle.

If only I wasn't wearing this stupid dress.

"I'm sorry to say this my dear, but not everything may go as planned for you. That's unfortunately the was life is. You plan things out, think it'll go well but still end up failing. Think of that as you enjoy your time, in the dungeon."

The dungeon? What?

"N-no! Stop! You can't-"

It's inevitable. I can't stop anything from happening... he can stop me, for now at least.

What is minutes seems like hours as the two guards drag me down the stairs and into the dungeon. The air underground is musty, coughing heard from the different cells. One distinct noise catches my ear as the guards lead me to a cell farthest to the door. A loud, rumbling sort of breathing, like an old machine vibrating through the walls.

As soon as we reach 'my cell' the two guards stop, pushing me in. I hit the ground with a thud, scraping my hands against the ground. I look down at my bloodied and dirty hands, noticing water coming down onto them like a faucet after you close it, water still dripping. I know they are tears but I don't dare to wipe them or stop them in any way for that matter. Then I hear a noise.

"Who are you?" A gruff voice asks. "Servants aren't allowed in the dungeon."

"Well, jokes on you because I'm definitely not a servant." The voice almost makes me jump, but I stay rooted to the spot.

I hear a loud roar followed by a howl and metal clashing against the floor. In just seconds, the cell bars beside me are torn open and I see who has come to see me.

Niko.

I'm still frozen to the spot, looking up at the blue and green eyes that stare down on me.

"Wow, you look so...beautiful. Are you okay?" He changes suddenly turning into a human once again.

I look down at my hands to instead reveal that I am unscathed, my dress as well.

"I'm fi-" I begin to say, but he cuts me off with a kiss, lips touching mine in a fury of shock and excitement. Butterflies fill my stomach, carrying me up high into the clouds as he touches my back, pulling me closer to him. For a moment, I forget that I'm in a dungeon, I forget that I'm being held captive. And I forget that I'm in a wedding dress. When we separate, a part of me wishes we never did, but the other part... I don't even know.

"I-I'm really sorry. I should've never gotten ahead of mys-"

"It's okay." I tell him, looking into his eyes. "It felt good."

"Y-yeah. it did."

A sudden blush comes to my face.

"I think we should get out of here." Niko says, changing the subject.

"Yeah, but I need to check something out first." I say, coming back to reality.

To the side of my cell is a large metal door, also home to the intense vibrations. But it's locked. I walk closer to it, inspecting the lock. The moment I touch it, the whole thing evaporates, even opening the door for me a bit. The door is heavy, but with Niko's help, we push past.

"Oh. My. God." Niko says, almost as amazed as I am.

On the other side is an enormous dome holding two dragons chained to the floor. I look at the glistening metallic wings and sharp claws, followed by the gray ocean of scales. I slowly look up to the familiar face, running towards him.

"Estefano!" I bury my face in the crook of his long neck, holding back tears.

Jen-ni-fer

I hear him say, but only to me.

"We have to get out of here, now." Niko says, looking towards the door. "I feel them coming about a mile away."

I quickly look towards the other dragon, a mix of yellow, orange, and gold feathers. It's a female. At both their feet are large iron footholds, designed to only hold down the dragon instead of hurting them. Both Niko and I work on the footholds, busting all eight of the them open.

"Quick, get up. We need to get out of here." I say, patting Estefano's back while Niko runs his hands through the female dragon's feathers.

In an instant, she snaps at him, moving back and lifting her front leg.

"Are you hurt?" I ask, approaching her cautiously.

My young. I cannot let anyone touch it.

Young? She's pregnant?

In a series of screeches and unrecognizable noises, Estefano speaks with her. I can tell he is tired. After what feels like hours, they stop, and the female brings her leg back down. I gasp when I see a large dragon egg roll forwards, stopping when it reaches me.

"Y-you want me... to-"

He trusts you with his life, so I do too.

I cautiously carry the egg, which is roughly the size of a large beach ball, just not nearly as light.

"Then I will, but first, we need to get out of here." I say, still amazed by the trust bestowed upon me.

Estefano makes the effort to stand on his hind legs, looking at the glass dome above him.

This is the only exit.

Estefano says, as the female whom I name Stella sits by his side. Both Niko and I sit on Stella's back, letting her ready herself. Seconds after, Estefano jumps up, breaking through the glass easily. Stella jumps right after, flapping her winds. We land in a large stone area surrounded by daisies and petunias. A garden?

The moment we turn around, I realize it's not such an occasion. The wedding was in session, William standing with... well, me. Everything is silent as a man in the front row gets up and walks towards where we are.

"Well, well, well. Who must we have here?" It's William's father. "Ah, Jennifer, just in time! I was expecting you. I'm you're as smart as I envisioned, but not smart enough."

Wait, what?

"You and your boyfriend walked right into my trap, along with my dear Inferitous." Estefano snarls at him. "I haven't been able to wake him in so long. Such stubborn dragons." He laughs, and then turns to Estefano.

"Join me again, so we can change the world, and you can become stronger." William's father says, lifting his arms.

In just seconds, Estefano's eyes flicker red, and I feel our connection fading.

"No!" I yell, but Niko pulls me back.

I yell and kick and thrash, but soon, my world fades to black. I still feel Estefano's connection, but it is very faint. I let the blackness swallow me up as I reach towards him. But he does it instead.

Jennifer. I know you want to save me. I can feel it.

But soon, my power will give away.

When my master created me, he told me to protect you with my life.

I feel myself being lifted up.

I cannot let anything happen to you.

You must go.

You must leave with your friends.

I feel an arm wrapping tightly around my waist.

Please, protect my egg as I have done so for your father.

And don't worry, your existence here gives me power.

But my time has arrived.

I have aged greatly and hope to see you in years to come.

Thank you, Jennifer.

I hope to also see you in your final years.

Farewell, little one.

My eyes slowly open, but I still can't see anything. My eyes sting with tears. My heart is numb, but I still feel Estefano slowly fading away. Seconds later, the connection stops completely, leaving me in Niko's arms.

It's just like how my mom said.

Not everything will turn out to be how it seems.

Not even for me, The Dragon Warrior.
