16 ~ Ministry

Lia considered herself a lucky person, and today was no doubt. Especially as she hovered over top of where she knew the magical courts were. If she had listened to her father enough and given up-- which she had, he loved to speak-- then she knew one of these rooms would have the magical creatures' emergency meeting in it, and Charlie.

Lia gripped the edge of Helena's neck, bracing herself on her dragon's back. Tanwen was snarling behind her, angry that Charlie was gone. They were climbing upwards, high above the street in London, high enough to generate force to get through the wizarding barrier covering the roof of the ministry.

It had been all too easy to sneak out of the ministry, and the inklings of a plan for Charlie's rescue had formed while she exited the silent archives and climbed back into the muggle street. No wizards had even looked at her funny, despite the smell of burning paper that lingered on her clothing.

Lia wasn't sure how many laws she was breaking by enacting this plan, but the cool dark rage that had overtaken her mind didn't care. All that mattered was Charlie and the dragons disappearing. She had to start by getting Charlie back.

Lia leaned close to Helena's back, gripping her wand in one hand before she tapped Helena twice.

The dragon hissed, before plummeting into a nose dive. Tanwen flapped his wings behind her, following Helena and Lia as they soared down towards the muggle street. If the muggles could see her and the two angry dragons, there was no sign.

Lia dove downwards and they crashed through the barrier and the glass ceiling that protected the Ministry of Magic. The screams were instant, but Lia ignored them as Helena banked towards the trial rooms. Tanwen was close behind.

Lia cast a quick spell in front of her and the wall leading to the trial room shattered apart into a plaster and brick. Helena did a lap of the room, before landing on the tall stand at the front of the morning. She was faintly aware of a minister jumping out of the way as Helena straightened up and roared.

The roar shook the room, and Tanwen found a spot beside Helena, roaring just as loud. The wizards froze in the wide oval room. Lia flicked her wand and a shield sprung up in front of her and the dragons, protecting them from the wizards in front of them.

Lia narrowed her eyes, scanning the crowd quickly. Charlie's red hair was like a beacon in the crowd. He was on his knees in the centre of the room, his hands bound by a magical rope. He was grinning at her. Three Aurors, marked by emblems on their breast pockets, were surrounding him, wands at the ready. Her father-- damn the man-- was just behind them, his own wand at the ready. Just to her side, originally at the head of the room, was Amos Diggory.

Amos had a small stack of parchment tucked close to his chest, and Lia recognized the emblem on the outside-- it was identical to the one that Andrew had had, and the one Aurella had sent them.

Lia pointed her wand directly at him, and in one hiss, said, "Obliviate,"

There was a flash of light, and he hit the ground, the file scattered.

"Incendo!"

Somehow, in the chaos that Lia and the two dragons had brought, Charlie had wormed his way free of his restraints and grabbed a wand from one of the Aurors holding him and destroyed the file. Lia suppressed a smile as he dove through the chaos, moving towards her and the dragons.

Lia flicked her wand, keeping her body hidden low on Helena. She obliviated every wizard in the room, watching as they hit the ground. There were flashes of spells as they ricocheted off of her shield. Whenever a wizard got close, Helena would gnash her teeth at them, and they would stumble back.

The dragons had thrown them off of their game. It was almost child's play to get Charlie onto Tanwen. And once they were on, they were unstoppable.

"Wait!"

Lia stiffened, pointing her wand at her father. He had appeared in the centre of the room, between the unconscious bodies. Thankfully, Lia knew that they would just have headaches and no memories of the past hour and the ritual when they eventually woke up.

"Have you been a part of this?" She asked. Lia stared at the man who had supposedly raised her and felt nothing. He was just another man to her. One who had isolated her in her own home.

"Ophelia, listen to me, this isn't you," He pleaded. Lia narrowed her eyes as he took another step towards her and Helena. "I don't know what you think you are doing, but you don't have to do this."

Lia scowled. "Because you would know, wouldn't you? Answer my question, have you been a part of these rituals."

There was a moment of silence and Lia could feel her chest pounding.

"Lia," Charlie whispered. "Obliviate him, we have to get out of here before more people arrive."

Lia swallowed once, raising her wand. In her focus on her father, neither of them noticed Andrew behind them.

Her father's eyes flickered, and she frowned, glancing once behind her. Andrew's wand was pointed at Charlie's back.

Three things happened at once.

The first, Charlie pointed his wand at Lia's father. "Obliviate!"

Lia's father hit the ground, and any memory he had of the ritual and dragons was gone.

The second, Andrew raised his hand and his wand and began to utter the killing curse at Charlie's back. Charlie was distracted by Lia's father.

The third, Lia slid off of Helena and tackled Andrew. The spell that he cast with the intent of hitting Charlie, hit her square in the chest.

There was a flash of green, and Lia hit the ground, gone.
