(Normal pov)
Hiccup had gathered the other Dragon Riders to show them what he had found.
"Okay, bud, go ahead." He said to Toothless.
Toothless bent down towards the Dragon Eye and casted a low flame in front of it. At once the string symbols and strange writing appeared right in front of them. The other riders just stare at it in amazement.
"Definitely worth getting up for." Fishlegs said in excitement.
"Whoever created this sure knew what they were doing." Asbjorn said.
"Fishlegs, can you make any of it out?" Hiccup asked.
The bulky man approached the symbols and strange writing to study them.
"There are parts of maps and symbols, nothing I've seen before." Fishlegs concludes.
"The writing is similar to what's in the logbook, but we're not able to decipher it." Astrid pointed out.
"What's that?" Asbjorn asked pointing to the symbol in the centre.
The symbol looks like a burning fist.
"Must be some kind of tribal crest or something." Hiccup surmised.
"Ooh, I like that way better than our tribal crest." Tuffnut said.
"Tuff, Berk doesn't have a tribal crest." Hiccup reminded.
"Well, it should." Ruffnut said, causing Tuffnut to smile at his sister."Yeah, and it should be that." Tuffnut pointed toward the flaming fist on the wall.
Fishlegs looks back at Hiccup. "Hiccup, this map, you realise it..."
"Goes beyond the boundaries of the Archipelago." Hiccup said. "Oh, I know."
"And I can tell you something else."Asbjorn sais. "Nobody would go through all this without something to hide."
They all looked at each other not saying a word and then Astrid turned to her husband and asked. "So, what's our next move babe?"
(Unknown location)
After Viggo and Ryker regrouped with their allies, they all boarded the hunter command ship and headed to where Drago's fleet was anchored.
"So, did your chat with Johann reveal anything?" Cutthroat asked as he walked into Viggo's room.
"Very. Surprised that you didn't think of it sooner."
"I'm going to ignore that jab. So, what did he fill you in with?"
"A bit of Hiccup's past—"
"I could have filled you in on that easily."
"I prefer more reliable sources." He glanced up, finding a small amount of amusement in Cutthroat's glare. "As I was saying before I was interrupted, a bit of Hiccup's past— his life back on Berk, his friendship with Queen Mala, and the name of the location of where the he and his friends are."
"I sense a 'but' in this..."
"But he doesn't know where the island is exactly. And I had no reason to question him."
"Can't believe you didn't. I would have at least threatened to cut his beard off."
"See, that's where we differ. You just take pleasure in making people beg for their lives, causing untold suffering to them and their loved ones. When Enyo told me I'd be working with a new partner, I didn't know they clearly lacked self-control."
"And what makes you so different from me? You may be a 'businessman' as you love to call yourself one, but you have your brother do all your dirty work for you. All you do is lurk in the shadows, only revealing yourself once your opponent has been defeated and then ending him by your hand, when you had nothing to do prior to it. So forgive me if I'm not begging for your respect." Cutthroat seethed out, his fists clenched up and nostrils flared up.
Viggo looked at Cutthroat and curled his lips at the Berserker. "Are you finished?" Viggo asked in a dark tone, he was met with another glare from Cutthroat and then a nod. "Good, because now we can focus on getting the Dragon Eye back from Hiccup and his riders."
"Hold on a minute." Cutthroat said, causing Viggo to sigh irritably, glancing up from the scrolls on his table. "We're supposed to deliver Drago the Screaming Death. The big, white, red-eyed dragon that Krogan tasked us with?"
"Tasked you with. I'm here to collect what rightfully belongs to me."
"And I'm sure Enyo is thrilled that we're disobeying a direct order."
"I can't believe you got as far as you did with Alvin the Treacherous when you captured Hiccup and that girl he was with." Viggo snorted out, when Cutthroat didn't interrupt, he continued. "The Dragon Eye is a device that reveals all the secrets about any dragon in existence. All that information is engraved on lenses that have been scattered throughout the Archipelago."
"Why didn't you say so in the first place?"
"Any Viking with a brain could have come to that conclusion."
"You love belittling your partners, don't you?"
"Only when they deserve it. Now, what can you tell me about Hiccup and his friends from your brief encounter with them."
"Nothing much to tell. I only talked with Hiccup's wife, Astrid Hofferson years ago for attempting to strike a marriage contract." He grinned at a memory. "Threatened to kill her and nearly raped her in front of Hiccup to have him reveal the whereabouts of the Red Death."
"You really are a class act."
"And I chopped off his leg."
"I can imagine he wasn't happy with that..."
"I'm pretty sure his friends, especially Mala and Astrid, would love to put my head on a spike if we ever cross paths again."
"Then you better hope your fighting skills haven't deteriorated since your last encounter."
"I will revel in that moment. I have unfinished business with Mala and Astrid." Cutthroat smiled menacingly.
"Well then, I'm sure you'll be happy in helping me locate their base." Viggo gestured to the map on his table.
"Yes I would." He placed his palms on the map, looking at the pins and symbols Viggo had placed. "I'm assuming you've reached some of your contacts about him?"
"I did. But based on previous sightings, it's impossible to tell where exactly they come from. Do you have any suggestions?"
"Hold on, you're asking me for suggestions?"
"I know I teased you a bit, but we're partners. We have to work together whether we like it or not. Now, do you have any suggestions?"
"If we can't pinpoint their exact location, then maybe we ought to find someone who does know it. But the only people I can think of is Stoick. And I know he'd kill me as soon as I was in Berk's sight."
"Then we just have to find someone who does know where he is. Someone close to him. His friends perhaps." Viggo smiled, as his eyes went toward the Isle of Night on his map.
"I think it's time to pay the Strike Clan a visit."
(Dragons Edge)
Hiccup and Fishlegs spent hours learning everything they could about the Dragon Eye and all its secrets, this device had knowledge on almost all dragons.
Mala would visit weekly to see how the Edge was coming along and see Hiccup of course. When Hiccup showed the Dragon Eye to his allies, they were shocked at how much knowledge such a device harbored. They could find whole new species of dragons and so much more, the possibilities were endless.
Everyone present on Dragons Edge went to grab food for the day, everyone chatted away about dragons, life on the Isle of Night and so on. A Terror Mail arrived and landed on Hiccup's shoulder, the man removed the letter on the dragons leg and gave it a fish. Once Hiccup began reading, his eyes widened and he then gasped in fear.
Everyone looked at him in worry, Mala approaching him. "Hiccup? What's wrong?" He gave the letter to her and as soon as she finished reading she gasped. "We need to go now!!" Hiccup nodded, Mala then rounded up the riders that were from the Strike Clan and Astrid and the other Berkians said they'd safe guard the Edge and the Dragon Eye.
(Hiccup's pov)
I urged Toothless to fly faster, after about half an hour in the air, the Isle of Night came into view and it was under attack by... Dragon Hunters? They must want the Dragon Eye, that's the only explanation. Our 'swarm' was already on the defensive and holding the line.
I then turned to Mala, she nodded at me as she urged Shadow to dive to the left as five riders joined her as well. And I had my sight locked on the command ship.
Toothless fired the front of the ship and we landed on deck, I drew out Inferno and twirled it in my hand with ease, Toothless bared his teeth and spread his wings out showing his dominance. The hunters on deck were in awe and bewilderment as they gazed upon us.
"Well, well, well, look what the Night Fury dragged in."
I grit my teeth at that voice. I looked up to see Dagur and Cutthroat smirking down on me, with their weapons drawn. "You two have nerve to attack my home. Leave now!!" I seethed out.
"I'm afraid that's not an option Hiccup Haddock."
I turned to see a man who stood at 6'4, he wore a black tunic with red scales on his shoulders and around his waist. He also has spiked shoulder pads and a silver belt buckle with Dragon Hunters' tribal crest on it, and black wrist guards, he had short black hair, brown eyes with what appears to be eye-shadow, and a French cut beard. He has three scars on the left side of his neck supposedly from a dragon.
"I'm Viggo Grimborn, and this is my brother Ryker." He gestured to the man next to him. Ryker too stood 6'4, he was bulky in muscle, he wore a light green cut tunic that looked like it was made from snake skin, and he wore armor and arm braces that looked like it were made from turtles of some kind.
"What do you want." I spat out, offended that these animals dare attack my home. Viggo smirks and walks toward me, Toothless snarls in warning, I place my hand on his head to calm him down for the time being.
"Straight to business then, very well I'll cut to the point." Viggo gave me a hard glare and continued speaking. "Turn over what you stole from me, what has belonged to my tribe for centuries, and I will give you serious thought to letting you and your people go free."
My lips curled and I pointed my still blazing sword toward Viggo.
"The Dragon Eye stays with me, and my people will best your hunters and your filthy Berserker pets anytime." I snarled out, the Berserker cousins bared their teeth, itching for a fight; Viggo nodded and drew his sword.
"Hunters! Fire at will!!"
I grabbed my shield and blocked the incoming arrow fire, I switched my shield to crossbow mode and fired a clean shot at Viggo, unfortunately Ryker blocked the arrow with his sword and eyes me from head to toe.
"Dagur was right. You don't look like much." He snickered as he charged toward me, I charged him and front flip over him while throwing a dagger into his shoulder, causing him to yelp in pain. I landed gracefully behind him and sneered.
"Never underestimate your opponent you dragon hunter scum." Ryker growled and ordered hunters to shoot me. I growl at his low blow and block the arrows, Toothless fires at the archer nest and sending them into a fiery crisp, Dagur and Cutthroat land on deck and circle me.
"It's been awhile brother, I'm so glad we're reunited." Dagur giggled, I lock eyes with Cutthroat. "Oh you're gonna wish you hadn't attacked my home. Besides, I owe Cutthroat a debt in blood." I then unleash Zippleback gas at Cutthroat and light it, he gets hurled back and hits the mast of the ship, I charge at him; ready to behead that freak.
But an axe stops me, I turn to see Dagur smirking at me and then kicking me back, I summersault backwards and join Toothless, both of us getting in a fighting stance.
"Last chance Hiccup! Bring me the Dragon Eye, or else I'll burn your entire clan to ashes and ship all these Night Furies to my superior." Viggo threatened as his men circled me and Toothless.
Wait. Viggo isn't Dagur and Cutthroat's superior? Viggo and Ryker too are pawns? I'd like to know who this superior of theirs really is.
"Over my dead body." I twirl my sword and Toothless roars in warning, Viggo nods. "Very well, kill them." Hunters and Berserkers have crossbows and bows at the ready to shoot while the leaders of both parties are too much of cowards to fight themselves.
Multiple plasma blasts sends everyone on deck scattering, I look behind me to see Mala beside me while our 'swarm' is behind us and dozens of hunter ships in flames.
"You dare attack our home without repercussion Viggo Grimborn?! Well let us show you and your men what Night Furies can do." Mala roared, our dragon riders charged, hammering the ships around Viggo's command ship, the man yelled someone's name and suddenly a big dragon landed in front of us.
A dragon with three tails along with three stingers on the ends and had two ear-like appendages on its head and large pincers as forearms. But what surprised me the most about this dragon was that there was a rider on its back.
"Hiccup Haddock III, the great Dragon Master. My Dragon-God will be most eager to see you and you clan." The woman on this dragons back said.
Dragon-God?
"Who is this Dragon-God of yours?" I asked, however, this riders face was covered in a veil of some kind, while a hood draped over her head, her eyes were the only thing visible on her face. Her armor was black and brownish, resembling her dragon; she had daggers strapped to her thighs, a bow around her chest with a quiver full of arrows on her back and a sword at her hip.
"In time, but as of now? Know that a war is coming, the likes of which that will be immortalized in history." The rider threw a smoke bomb on deck, I cursed myself for getting distracted, we flew through the smoke screen, but that rider and the leaders of the Hunters and Berserkers were gone.
I noticed two dinghys with Sea Shockers serving as their engines, they were heading toward a massive ship with sails that I've never seen before.
(Normal pov)
Unknown to the Strike Clan, the dreadnaught that awaited the Hunter and Berserker leaders belonged to Drago, with the man himself waiting for their arrival.
Drago watched from afar that this... Strike Clan rode the very beasts they massacred his village and his family. His fist clenched in his palm, this... "Dragon Master" posed as his biggest challenger; if he was truly to become a Dragon-God, he'd conquer the Strike Clan, eradicate the last of the Night Furies and cave in the Dragon Masters skull in. Only then, he'd rule unchallenged by those who claim to control dragons.
Once everyone made on the deck of Drago's ship, the mountain of a man turned toward Enyo who slid off her Triple Stryke and bowed before Drago; everyone else took her example and bowed.
"Rise."
Once everyone rose, Drago places his hand on Enyo's shoulder. "Tell me my child, describe this "Dragon Master" to me, what he looks like and what kind of man he his." The warlord demanded, Enyo moves the veil down to her throat and removes her hood so Drago can see and hear her clearly.
"He does not match you in muscle and size my Lord, he is lean muscled and broad shouldered. He stands at 6'1 with auburn hair and a small scar on his chin." She revealed, Drago grunted and then nodded for her to continue. "He's a fierce warrior, wields his flaming sword with deadly purpose and is willing to defend his home at any cost."
Drago looked at his soldiers on deck and the leaders of both parties that stood before him, he then roared.
"My brothers! Prepare yourselves! Soon we will clash with the Dragon Master and his people; we will conquer, spill blood, and gather spoils of our war!! And soon, I will rule this world and lead you as your Dragon-God!!" Roars rang out across the deck and fists, swords and spears raised high in the air.
War has begun.
