Chapter 19: Seeking eternal life

(Normal pov)

"Let's see if we turn it here—" Hiccup bit his bottom lip as he carefully turned the disk he had just inserted into the Dragon Eye, he switched the slide to the Mystery Class dragons; due to how stealthy and sneaky they are, the dragons in this class are generally more feared than those in the other dragon classes. The dragon species included are: Armorwing to Sword Stealers.

But there was on dragon that grabbed Hiccups attention. The Foreverwing. He looked at this dragons description and development.

The Foreverwing resides in a mountain side hidden by trees and rocks. It is the perfect camouflage for this Dragon, which would rather spend its time sleeping.

The Foreverwing is a colossal dragon. It has a woody brown colour and the what seems to be like branches at the back of its head and below its chin. These 'branch-like' objects resemble hair and a beard. With small, kind eyes and an aged appearance, this dragons looks rather old and wise. The Foreverwing has thick foliage such as trees and vegetation on its back. The Foreverwing uses the foliage on its back as camouflage that leads others to think that it is just part of a mountain side. The dense foliage on its back covers almost its entire body, except for its head and limbs. Their body, by itself, resembles wood and earth. Thus, even when its head is revealed, it is hard to spot a Foreverwing. This may help it hunt, escape, or even simply get some sleep undisturbed.

Hiccup grunted in acknowledgement, so basically this dragon can hide in plain sight.

The Foreverwing enjoys sleeping most of the time and does not like to be disturbed. Its stillness when sleeping also contributes to its great camouflaging abilities. This dragon appears to be lazy and has a huge temper when it is awakened without its consent.

The Foreverwing, like a Stoker Class alpha, a Bewilderbeast, the Screaming Death and other alpha species, have loyal subjects under its command; the Foreverwings are known as Seedling Dragons. The Foreverwing seems to be a benevolent leader, and does not treat its subject dragons harshly. Also,

This dragon also shares special connections with humans; if humans prove themselves, Foreverwings grant a special kind of telepathy bond and can grant immortality.

No.

Gods no.

Hiccup felt his panic skyrocket, if this dragon can grant humans immortality, and Drago gets his hands on one...

He'll truly be a Dragon-God and live forever; ruling through fear, cruelty and madness.

That's not going to happen.

Hiccup gathered his war council, riders and lieutenants together to discuss a plan of attack. Once everyone was gathered they immediately began. "Everyone, thank you for your time, I'll get right to business." Everyone in the room stopped their side conversations to listen to their leader. "I believe Drago is looking for a Mystery Class dragon known as the Foreverwing." Everyone looked at each other in confusion then turned their attention back to Hiccup, the young Viking then continued speaking. "The Dragon Eye told of this dragon having a special telepathic bond between humans, but the other gift that's frightening is that this dragon can grant immortality."

Everyone's eyes widened, they now understood why Hiccup was spooked. "If Drago finds a Foreverwing, he and his army will be unstoppable, we need to stop him before he gets his hands on one." One of the elite dragon riders spoke up. "With respect Hiccup, we cannot take our Night Furies into battle, Drago's Bewilderbeast will only control them and add them in his arsenal."

Hiccup nodded in agreement. "True, which is why we won't be taking our Night Furies." Hiccup whistled and the baby Scuttleclaws from the Dragon Sanctuary landed and nuzzled into Hiccup. "We're going to be taking these babies, they don't listen to anyone; even a Bewilderbeast." Everyone nodded in agreement, though the babies would be difficult to fly on, this was the only option they had.

If they could stop Drago from achieving eternal life, rescue Valka's Bewilderbeast and brake Drago's Bewilderbeast's control over Toothless and the other Night Furies? They'd be one step closer to ending this mad war.

Hiccup strapped a saddle on the baby he'd be riding and fed it some fish, the baby happily excepted his offering and nuzzled into his side, Hiccup scratches its head and chin. He then turned toward his other riders and spoke. "Everyone get ready! We leave in five minutes." Everyone nodded and began saddling up the babies they'd be riding.

Hiccup turned around to see Mala holding Eira and Astrid in her battle armor, the blond Viking woman kissed Hiccup's lips and said. "No matter how deep you fall, how dark the nights are or how far you have to travel to save the world, I'm always right behind you, until my last breath." Hiccup smiled and kissed her passionately and caressed her cheek. "Thank you Astrid, you honor me. Now let's stop Drago and get Shade back." Astrid nodded and saddled her baby dragon up.

Mala approached Hiccup and hugged him, she looked at Eira who smiled widely at her father. "Are you going to stop a bad man Daddy?" The girl asks, Hiccup nodded and stroked his daughters hair. "I am my little princess, once I stop this bad man, you won't have to worry about losing your dragon." Eira nodded and hugged her father, Hiccup sighed happily and hugged his daughter back. "I love you Daddy." Hiccup kissed Eira's temple and replied back. "I love you too my little princess." Mala smiled and spoke.

"Return victorious and return with your life." Hiccup nodded and the two hugged one last time, then Hiccup got up on the baby dragon and looked toward his fellow riders. "WE GO!" Everyone shot up toward the heavens and headed toward the village of Nepenthe.

(Nepenthe village)

Mikkel or Mik sat on the beach and played his harp string, the island of Nepenthe is a lush tropical island, which is unusual in the Barbaric Archipelago. Possibly it has heat from geothermal activity. The island has pristine white sandy beaches, and is specked with mysterious hot springs, with sedative properties.

The boy hummed as he continued playing his harp strings until he looked out toward the horizon, he spotted an entire armada of ships that were armed to the teeth. Mikkel pulled out a telescope and spotted the largest ship out of the armada, its sails had a large sword right down the middle of a dragon's skull; their decks filled to the brim with dragon traps, cages, and soldiers.

Before the boy could cry for help, an explosion sent him flying and crashing into the beach; sand scraping his cheeks and arms, he groaned in pain and he looked behind him to see a dragon that was black as night and a mountain of a man sitting on top of the dragon. The man smiled evilly at Mikkel and pointed his bull-hook at the frightened boy. "You are King Mikkel? Pathetic." Drago snickered in amusement, this boy looked like he's never worked a day of his life, he didn't look fit to be king and he was a scrawny little thing.

Mikkel stuttered out. "W-what do you want?" Drago slid off of Toothless and placed the point of his bull-hook inches away from Mikkel's face and growled out. "You will take me to the Foreverwing so that you can awaken it and I will prove myself worthy of gaining eternal life." The frightened boy nodded and led Drago toward the jungle that led toward a luscious mountain with trees and plants covering it entirely.

"The Foreverwing sleeps, waiting to be woken by those deemed worthy. They, like many other colossal sized dragons, have telepathic abilities to communicate with the many dragons who flock to them. You cannot force this alpha to awaken and grant you the ultimate gift of life, you fool." Mikkel said, Drago then backhanded the boy and sound of his meaty hand making contact with the boy's cheek echoed through the jungle. "I have a Bewilderbeast under my command, the king of all dragons. Do not speak to me unless I command you to you maggot!" The warlord snarled out, Mikkel whimpered in fear, his cheek burned from being handled by this mountain of a man.

Once they reached a slope, Mikkel pointed to Drago. "There." The warlord looked up along the side of the largest, most luscious-vegetation-covered mountain around them. Drago squinted slightly, seeing what the boy was pointing at— as if Drago's Bewilderbeast launching itself upright at the edge of Nepenthe island wasn't dramatic enough, even from the ground, the earth trembled at the gigantic Foreverwings grand entrance.

"Ah, there you are."

The Foreverwing was probably about the size of a full-grown Bewilderbeast— on all fours. Instead, he was up on his back legs, the entire body looking like it was formed out of endless tree roots, patches of green scales that perfectly resembled leaves as it crossed much of the island in a few strides.

Drago's Bewilderbeast snarled at the Foreverwing; talking to it, the Foreverwing looked at Drago and made its way toward him, Drago glared the dragon down, the warlord heard a voice enter his mind.

::What is it you want from me? Drago Bludvist?::

The warlord extended his arm out with his bull-hook still in hand and spoke his desires. "I wish to deem myself worthy to gain eternal life." The Foreverwing inhaled Drago's scent; he smelled of death of both man and dragon, he reeked of cruelty and if this man sought eternal life, he would continuing terrorizing both races of man and dragon.

::Prove yourself before me Drago Bludvist, and I'll decide if you're worthy of such a gift::

Drago growled but nodded, he would play by this dragons rules...

For now.

Either way, he would gain eternal life and truly become a Dragon-God.
