The Fall of Dragon Land

Above is a picture of Kida ^^

"COME ON, EVERYONE!" I screamed, looking to my Dragons that I lead. "WE WILL HOLD BACK THE ENEMY, OR DIE TRYING!"

All of the Dragons behind me gave a battle cry, some even being so bold as to shoot their element into the sky. I turned back and away from them, ruffling my wings as I gripped my sword tighter. I did not know for sure what they were called, but us Dragons dubbed them The Kapah. They had dragon wings on their backs, but their bodies were either dark grey or black. Large horns sprouted out of their heads, looping around their jaws as well. They had human-like hands, but their feet were hoofs like that of a cow.

The only real thing that we knew about them was that they wanted to reach Fiore.

As princess of the Dragons, I led my own army of Dragons agains the Kapah, in hopes of stopping them. However, it had been nearly a year of fighting, and Dragon Land was almost destroyed. Many Dragons had been killed, and those that did not fight fled to a different land. The Dragons left fighting were pushed all the way up the the Border Mountains, and this would be our last stand.

We would either push back the enemy and win, or fail and have all of Fiore destroyed.

As I looked, I saw the Kapah army arise, coming straight for us. "THIS IS IT, DRAGONS!" I screamed. "NO MATTER WHAT, WE CANNOT ALLOW THE KAPAH TO GO BEYOND THE BORDER MOUNTAINS!"

All of the Dragons behind me roared, and the next thing that I knew we were fighting. Kapah were hard to kill, but their weak spots had been found over time: the tops of their heads, a swipe across the shoulder blades, and their eyes. I charged and fought, with all of the other Dragons at my side. I do not know for sure how many I had killed, but I did know that it was many. The fighting lasted for hours, before someone finally shouted, "THEY ARE RETREATING! THE KAPAH ARE RETREATING!"

Upon hearing so, the Dragons all gave roars of victory. I felt a smile appear on my face as my sky-blue eyes watched the Kapah retreat. A small sigh of relief made me suddenly realize how exhausted I was, but we would all have to get back to our camps at the Border Mountains. "RETURN HOME, DRAGONS!" I shouted, and we all took to the sky.

"We won!"

"Victory!"

"Hail, the Queen!"

These are some of the things that I heard as I walked to the cave where my mother and cousins would be. Mom was, of course, the official leader of all Dragons, and the Queen. As her daughter, I was the second highest in rank and the Princess. My cousins, Aquimira the water dragon, Territra the earth dragon, Aeristo the air dragon, and Igneel the fire dragon were all there as well, as generals.

"It seemed as though the Kapah had only sent a small army, not a large one like usual." Aquimira said.

"Perhaps they underestimated us." Aeristo suggested.

Mom shook her head. "I don't believe so. They retreated far too early."

"Could they be planning a surprise attack?" I asked, making my presence known.

"Oh, hey, Kida!" Aeristo said, slightly smirking. "I didn't see you there. Well, you can't blame me, can you?"

"If you make one more short joke to me, I'm gonna burn you." I threatened.

"Kida, quiet," Mom said, keeping her eyes on the map before us, and causing Aeristo's smirk to deepen. "Perhaps they are planning to strike again."

"It would make sense," Igneel said. "I mean, we are slightly vulnerable as of right now."

Igneel is smart. I thought.

"Indeed," Mom said. "We need to be ready, and quickly."

"O-oh no!" Territra gasped.

"What is it?" I asked, frowning.

"I feel vibrations in the Earth! It is calling out in pain! There is death...much death..." Territra's eyes glazed over.

"H-hey, Territra, hang in there!" Aeristro cried out, trying to keep Territra steady.

"Mom?" I asked, looking to her. She had her eyes closed, and a look of pain on her face as well. Suddenly, as rush of dizziness came over me, and I had to blink a few times. Help us! I heard voices call. Please, we beg of you! Help us before we die!

Mom's eyes suddenly snapped open. "Prepare for battle."

Dragons flew and ran around, trying to get to their correct locations and leaders. I pulled the helmet down, to protect my head. Dragons have scales to protect them, but I do not. I can grow wings and a tail whenever I need them, use all of the abilities that Dragons have, but I do not have the luxury of a home-made armor.

Kapah entered our vision again, this time as a much larger army. I gulped, hoping for the best. "DRAGONS!" I screamed. "FIGHT UNTIL YOUR LAST BREATH! PROTECT THE MOUNTAINS AND THOSE WHO LIVE BEYOND!"

Then, we all charged.

It started out as only Kapah warriors, but much more creatures came. Some looked to be large trees that had been turned into monsters, others large snakes that slithered across the ground, and some even looked almost to be human. Nevertheless, they were all enemies, and we Dragons fought and killed many.

I had just killed one of the large snakes when I felt a dark presence behind me. It radiated death, and seemingly nothing but that. I slowly turned and looked to see something that surprised me. "Y-you're human." I said.

He nodded. He had dark black hair and eyes. He wore some sort of black and yellow robe, with a white sash around his left shoulder. "In a sense. You are a demi-dragon."

I nodded in return, not even questioning how he knew. "Are you with the Kapah? Or the Dragons?"

He only looked at me with soulless eyes. "Neither. The Kapah, as you call them, are simply my army."

"Who are you?" I asked him, frowning.

"My name is Zeref," He told me. "And you are Kida Draconic, the daughter of the Element Dragon Natsuru and a man."

I gripped my sword, staring at Zeref. I was guessing that he was the leader of the Kapah, and he was the one responsible for all of the death and destruction of my country. I couldn't let him get away with such a thing!

"I wouldn't attack me," Zeref said, slowly turning to his side. "You could get hurt."

"You expect me to just sit back and watch as you kill those that I love and destroy the country I was raised in?" I growled. "I do not care who you are, Zeref! You are my enemy and I shall destroy you for what you have done!"

I flapped my wings and attacked him, trying to land a strike on him, though he only dodged all of my attacks while looking at me in my eyes. I did not know what his plan was, though I kept on attacking him with all my might, finally landing a blow on his cheek. It was only a nick with my sword, though it made his frown deepen. "I warned you against attacking me, Kida Draconic. Now, you will die."

A black aura surrounded him, and I noticed that all of the plant life on the ground was shriveling up and dying, their last screams ringing in my ears. Help us! Please, help us!

I frowned, looking as the dark aura got closer. I knew that if it touched me I would die, and yet I couldn't seem to move. No matter how hard I tried, it wouldn't work.

"KIDA!"

Just before the black aura hit me, I saw my Mom fly down from the sky and wrap her body around me in a protective way, and her wing over the top of me. I huddled against her body, squeezing my eyes shut as I felt a tear slip from my eye. After a moment, nothing happened, and I breathed a sigh of relief, being able to move again.

"M-mom?" I asked, moving out from under her wing. She was lying down, unmoving, with her eyes closed. I felt tears run down my cheeks. "Mom? M-mom, please!"

But she didn't move, and all warmth from her body seemed to leave her. I knew what it ment: the fire in her belly had been extinguished. All dragons have some sort of fire inside of them, as a life source. If it is extinguished, it means that they have died. More tears rolled down my cheeks as I looked to her.

"Mom..." I whispered. A sudden wave of fury and adrenaline rushed through my body, and I grabbed my sword, running to Zeref. "I'LL KILL YOU!"

He only dodged my attacks again, seemingly without effort. I didn't care what happened to me, the only thought on my mind was getting revenge for my mother. I slashed at him, used my dragon powers, but nothing seemed to affect him no matter what I did.

Suddenly, I felt drained, and my eyesight went blurry. I fell to the ground, unable to move. Zeref walked over to me, looking into my eyes once more before flicking his hand, and I went flying in the air, going miles away. My back arched painfully, and I was almost positive that I had broken multiple bones in my body. My body fell back down to Earth, though I landed in water, and slowly started to sink from the impact.

The last thing that I remember was seeing the blurry shape of a human with wings reaching out for me.
