Finding a Human Village
Picture of Kami ^^
I arrived at the human village about a half an hour later. I was tired by then, but was quite glad that I had reached it. I could see a lot of people down there, walking around, and some noise that must have been talking. I flapped my wings and flew down, landing right next to a large fountain. People all around looked at me, many people gasping.
"So this is a human village..." I spoke under my breath. I looked at all of the people, before dispersing both my wings and tail. I took a step towards the people. "Please, help me! I am looking for a man."
None of the people moved or responded. I continued to look at them, hoping for someone to answer me. "Please?" I asked.
Then, the people moved. Most of them ran as soon as they could, and others tried to calmly walk away but failed at it. I only looked to the people, hoping that someone would help, but no one did step forward.
I sighed in annoyance. Not a good first impression on humans.

No one agreed to help me. In fact, no one spoke to me at all. I didn't know what it was that made them turn away. I looked just as much of a human as they did, right? Or at least, I thought so.
I sat back against a wall, in a little alleyway. "Why won't someone just help me?"
There was no answer, but then again, I didn't expect one.
I took out one of the pieces of bread that Nefta Batibat had given me, and took a bite. I had never eaten bread before, but I thought it to actually be not so bad. I would have liked some meat much more, but I would have to make due with what I had at the moment. I looked to the side, down the alleyway, to see two pairs of eyes suddenly looking to me.
I swallowed, looking at the curiously. "Hello?"
There was silence, before a small, "H-hello."
A little boy came out of the shadows. He was only wearing some ripped pants and a shirt, with no shoes. He had brown hair and dark green eyes, a thin face with freckles dotted all over his cheeks, and pointed ears. He looked really hungry and sick. I smiled to him, and held out the bread. "Here."
He only gave me a weary look.
"It's alright, it's not poisoned or anything," I told him. "Besides, you look like you need it much more than I do."
He slowly walked over to me, sat down, and took the bread. I smiled, looking down at him as he slowly lifted it up to his nose and took a sniff. Next thing that I knew, he snarffed it down, and the bread was no more.
I looked away from him and up at the moon for a moment. "My name is Kida, by the way. Kida Draconic."
"I-I'm Kami." He told me.
I looked back down at him, finally getting a better look at his eyes. They were a beautiful forest green, though is pupils were slits. It reminded me much of a dragon, and curiosity got the best of me. "You're a demi-dragon, aren't you?"
Kami looked away. "Y-yes."
"Don't worry," I told him. "So am I."
"I know that," He said. "You have scales around your eyes."
"I-I do?" I asked.
He nodded. "They're green, red, white, and blue all at the same time. It's really cool."
I blushed a tiny bit. "W-well, thanks."
Silence fell upon both of us for a while. "What are you doing here?" Kami asked.
"Looking for my father." I answered.
"Is he a dragon?"
"No. He's a human. The only problem is that I don't know anything about him."
"That makes it hard to find him then," Kami said. "My mom was a dragon too."
"Did you live with her?"
"No, I lived with my dad. He took care of me until the other towns people grew restless enough. I don't know why, but they burned our house down and my father never left it."
My eyes widened. "So, you've been living on your own, then?"
He nodded. "What is it like to be raised by a dragon?"
"Well, we have to learn how to use our magic and how to fight and stuff." I rubbed the back of my head. "That's kind of it."
Kami looked surprised. "We have magic?"
"Of course," I told him. "Did your dad ever tell you who your mother was?"
"He said her name was Territra."
My eyes widened. "Well, she's my cousin. She's the Earth Dragon."
Kami grew a smile on his face. "Could you teach me how to use my powers?"
I giggled a little bit. "Yes."

The next morning, both me and Kami left the village. Because Kami didn't know how to use his wings, and I couldn't carry him, we both just walked. He said that he had memorized a lot of maps and knew how to get to another village where he thought he could help me find my dad.
"How long should it take?" I asked him.
"Maybe a day," He said. "We don't have any mode of transportation."
I decided not to mention my wings.
"So, how old are you, anyways?" I asked him.
"I'm gonna be ten in a few months!" He punched the air, and it made me smile to see him so happy. "How old are you?"
"I'm gonna be sixteen soon."
Kami looked at me. "Hey, Kida?"
"Hm?"
"W-would it be alright...if I called you my big sis?"
I blinked in surprise, but smiled right back at him. "Of course, Kami. But only if you can be my little brother~!"
He giggled at me. "Yeah!"
~*~
"It's almost dark..."
"Indeed it is."
"I can't really see..."
"Liar. Your eyesight should be just as good as mine."
"I'm hungry..."
"You just ate."
"I can't feel my legs..."
I sighed. "Fine, we can stop."
Kami jumped up in the air with happiness. "YES~!"
We both sat down under a large tree, and I took out some food for us. "Here," I passed him some bread. "I can go hunting tomorrow."
"Okay!"
Kami sure wasn't the same shy and scared little kid I had met just last night. He was rather energetic and crazy, though I was pretty similar. "Look at all of those stars."
Kami looked up at the sky with me. "Yeah, it's pretty, isn't it?"
"It's not like Dragon Land, but it is really nice."
"What does Dragon Land look like?"
"I guess that depends on where you go. There is a desert to the south, and a lot of forests to the west. The entire east side is one large valley, and the north is mostly covered with glaciers. Dragons live depending on where their element is."
"Where did you live?"
"In the east, in the large valley."
Kami looked down and the rest of his bread. "I wish that I could have seen it."
I smiled. "I'm sure that you'll see it. I'm going to go back someday, and I'll take you to see it all, Kami."
He looked back up at me, and I noticed a small tear running down his cheek. "Promise?"
I nodded. "Promise."
He smiled, though he still looked sad. I didn't know really why he reminded me of myself, but he did. My mom would usually catch me with the same look on my face, and then sing to me a lullaby, which would send me to sleep. I reached out and wiped the tear away. "Come stop your crying, it'll be alright." Kami's eyes became brighter. "Just take my hand, and hold it tight. I will protect you from, all around you. I will be here, don't you cry."
Kami smiled lightly and leaned on my side. I wrapped my arm around his small frame, smiling myself. "Will you still sing?" He asked.
I gave a slight giggle. "Sure, Kami."
"For one so small, you seem so strong. My arms will hold you, keep you safe and warm.
This bond between us, can't be broken. I will be here, don't you cry.
'Cause you'll be in my heart, yes you'll be in my heart.
From this day on, now and forever more.
You'll be in my heart. No matter what they say.
You'll be here in my heart, always."
As I finished, I looked down to see Kami fast asleep. I smiled and held him closer, whispering, "Always."
A/N: Yes, I know that it is from Tarzan...but I couldn't help myself! I love that song so much! So don't judge. =_=
