"Okay. So I am supposed to protect someone? Who?!" the princess huffs before falling onto her bed. She looked over at her friend to see him huddled around the egg. "How's the egg?" she asked while sitting up. "Well there is a crack in it. Not sure if that's good or bad." he replied.

"Might be that it's hatching, according to this book." Ezra added while flipping through some pages. "Or that it's broken." he added. Lorena grabbed a pillow and threw it at the back of his head. "Rude." he said while picking up the pillow and chucking it back at her. She just shook her head and got up.

She then started to head over towards her friend. She looks over Ezra's shoulder and watches him as he flips through the book. "So. When do you think that the egg is going to hatch?" Lorena questions while also trying to start a conversation. "I'd say by how it looks, maybe a couple of days to two weeks. Two weeks at most. I think." he answers while rewrapping the egg.

"Whatcha think it will look like?" he asks while turning and facing the princess. She tilts her head as if she is thinking he and plops onto the floor, still holding her pillow. "Maybe. It will be purple like in the book. Or blue. Or yellow. Or green. Or any colour." she replies. Ezra nodded and got out of the chair. He sat down next to his friend.

"How much you betting it's a girl." Ezra asks while a smile is tugging at his lips. "Bet." Lorena challenges. "If it's a boy, then I get to dress you up however I want. If it's a girl, then you can dress me up however you want." Lorena proclaimed. "Deal." Ezra said while the two friend shook hand to symbolise the deal that they just struck.

"How do we even know if it's a boy or girl?" Ezra asks. "Lets check the book." Lorena suggests while standing up. She grabs the book and sits back down.

Male or Female?

It's easy to tell the difference with animals and humans. But what about dragons?

One simple way- depending on the species- is the way on how the scales look. If the scales are more rugged and uneven, then it would be a girl. If it is more even and looks neater, then it is a boy.

Again it depends on the species, but for most, that is how you can determine. If your dragon doesn't apply to this, then turn to page 137.

"I guess that's how it works?" Ezra half questions while looking up from the book and at the egg. "I guess so." Lorena agreed and closed the book. She then stuffed it into her bottom drawer and stood up. She stepped over towards the egg and looks at it.

"What will we do when it hatches, Lo?" Ezra asks. "I'm not sure Ez. I'm not really sure." she replied. "That's helpful." Ezra retorts. They both just looked at the egg.

After a while, they stashed the egg deep in Lorena's closet and pulled out a chess board. Being only 13, they get bored easily. They set up the board and began playing some simple chess.

What will the dragon bd? A boy or girl? What colour?
