Natsu's POV

I watched as Lucy looked at her friends as they slept. Her emotions were so overwhelming, I could feel them from beside her. I was surprised that she was holding up this long. I saw that she was struggling to keep from crying. She then suddenly started falling. Thank goodness for my speed because I caught her just in time. I didn't wanna do this to her but she'd never stay here unless I did.

She has a really good heart. She even made me make her friends forget about her. It takes courage to do that. She loves her friends more than herself. She was comforting them. She also said that she was weak and useless. How could she say that? She IS NOT weak or useless. She's perfect in every way possible and she's super strong.(Awwwwwwwwww) I just know she is. She just needs to be trained a bit more. I'll take care of that. My mate needs to be able to defend herself if something happens while I'm not with her. Which will never happen. But still, I can't believe she thinks of herself that way. I looked at her sadly

I picked her up and started carrying her to my bedroom. She's had a rough week so far. I lay her down and went out to get the royal healer after knocking on the door. I went to Emily's office. I knocked quickly before entering. "Ah your majesty" she squeaked."My mate. She fainted. Is she ok? Can you see her?" I asked. Everyone found out about me finding my mate. Thank you Dad.🙄 "Right away sir" she said suddenly serious.

She followed me to my bedroom. She looked at Lucy before smiling at me. "She's really beautiful. Good choice" she told me. I blushed slightly. She then pushed me out. OF MY OWN ROOM. "Sorry but you need to stay out until I call you in" she said. I huffed but nodded. I waited outside. It felt like an eternity before Emily called me in. I saw that Lucy was awake. I quickly went up to her and hugged her tightly. "Don't scare me like that." I said. (Ok guys but seriously WHERE. CAN. I. FIND. A. NATSU?)

Lucy's POV

I woke up to see a woman. She looked to be in her 20s. "You're awake. Finally. I'm Emily by the way. The royal healer. You must be Lucy. You fainted in the dungeons and the king carried you to his bedroom." she told me.

......processing.......processing........processing....
"What? Oh. Thank you Emily. And say thank you to Natsu as well." I said with a smile. She nodded. I got up but immediately fell to my knees. "Are you ok? You need to stay in bed for a few days. I think you've gone through an enormous emotional shock or pain" she said. I was confused. She helped me to the bed.

She went to the door and called someone in. It was Natsu. He looked at me and without warning hugged me like I'd disappear if he let me go. "Don't scare me like that." he said. I was still in a daze from all that was happening. He let go and looked at me. I was so confused. What was going on?

"Say" started Emily "Has Lucy been through an emotional phase lately? Like the loss of a loved one or something. She's suffering immense emotional pain right now. It's weakening her from within. She needs to stay on bed rest for at least a week. With regular visits from me of course" she said. (I don't think that emotional pain is that bad but go with the flow peeps) Natsu nodded and started hugging me again. "My my. I should leave you two lovebirds alone now" she winked at us before leaving. I was about to object but she closed the door behind me.

"Emotional pain? Loss of a loved one?" I questioned. "My friends." I said as realization hit me. Natsu pulled away and looked at me guiltily. I was so mad right now. But I was relieved too knowing that my friends would be safe. "Sorry" Natsu said. "Sorry? SORRY? You gave me a choice between freedom and my friends. Why do you want me to stay anyway? I'm nothing special." I said sadly. He then suddenly became angry. "Don't ever say that again Lucy. You're not weak or useless. You're the most special person in the world." he said before going back to hugging me. He was hugging me like his life depended on it.

"I'm getting outta here." I said. I tried to get out of bed but I fell to my knees again. I used the bed as support to stand back up. I managed to walk 2 more steps before collapsing. Next thing I knew, I was being carried by warm arms to the bed. I gave Natsu a questioning look. "You heard Emily. You are not to leave the bed. You're supposed to be on bed rest." he said. "I can't stay here." I said. "Why not?"he asked. "Because I don't live here and because this is YOUR room." I said.

"No you're wrong. You DO live here now and you are going to stay in my room" he said. "Why" I asked. "Because you're MY mate so I have to take care of you. And if I leave you alone then you might try to escape." he said. I couldn't argue with the escape thing. We both knew it was true. But what's with the mate thing?

"Mate?" I questioned. "Yeah" he answered. "Don't worry about it right now." he said. "No. You have to tell me what's up" I demanded. He sighed. "Every dragon has a mate. Mate is short for soulmate. Just like people. They're destined to be together. Decided by the gods and angels above. The mates both love each other to death. They would even die for their mate. You love me too but you don't realize it yet. The dragon gets strange feelings when their around their mate. That's how they know that they've found the right one.

1: They can't get enough of their mate.
2: Their scent drives them crazy. They can't get enough of them. It calms them down when they're angry too.
3: Their dragon senses just tell you that they're the right one.
4: Their heart starts beating abnormally when they're around their mate. They also get really protective of their mate and get jealous really quickly.

You're my mate Lucy. I know you don't exactly understand any of this right now, and you don't love me yet but I'll try my best to make you love me. I can't let you leave me. Dragons have to mark their mates. They do this by biting them. It doesn't hurt, just feels tingly. Once their mate is marked, they have a telepathic link where they could talk to each other without using actual words and no one else could hear them. This is for the mate's safety. The mates can feel each other's dominant emotions.

I just have to make you fall in love with me. I promise that I'll never hurt you and take care of you for life. You're too precious for that. You've also had a rough week so far so just let me take care of you." he said. He then did the cutest thing ever. He sat me on the bed with my legs dangling down the side, kneeled beside me, and buried his head in my tummy as he wrapped his arms around my waist. Ok I have to admit he was totally cute like this. He looked so broken that it broke my heart.

I wrapped my arms around his shoulders and started petting his head to calm him down. He started to calm down. I pulled away and said "Don't get used to it. You just looked so adorable and broken so I hugged you to make you feel better. And I'm not gonna fall in love with you that easily so you'll have to try extra hard. Wait.......... did I just give you a chance? Double wait......... Did I just tell you that I might fall in love with you? Triple wait....... DID I JUST CALL YOU ADORABLE!?!?!? Ugh my head hurts."

Natsu's smile was so big that I swear the Cheshire Cat would be jealous. He sat on the bed beside me and hugged me again. I was so tired and he was soooooo warm. I was starting to fall asleep. I think he noticed because he picked me up and put me in his lap. He shifted my body so my face was in his chest and he was wrapping his arms around me protectively. Next thing I knew, I was welcomed by dreamland.

Lucy sleeps a lot in this story.
