Once upon a time (lyttlejoe)

Once upon a time

It may not be written

Or spoken aloud

And the genre doesn't matter,

Nor location or time,

But it's there in each mind's eye

When writing prose or rhyme

That germ of an idea

That only sparks sometime

The words all come from somewhere

Events, experience or imagination

Then they are suitably organized

Into a unique and new creation

To be absorbed and savoured

As something so sublime

That soon the idea takes flight

Harkening back to that first inkling

When we first began to write

Those magical words

Once upon a time.
