Fae swept her eyes over the cave that she and Seth shared. Even though she and him were complete opposites, Seth's side of the room being dark and moody and her's being light and airy, the roomy cave had a homey vibe, light filtering in through the skylight.

Smiling, Fae sat down on her circular bed, piled with soft pillows. Seth was reading one of his books, hunched over his desk and absorbed in the crinkled pages.

Fae reached her hand over to her bedside table and grabbed her slightly glowing notebook and pen. She often used this book to record story ideas. Fae was currently working on a draft about a girl and a boy who fell in love but live across the world from each other. She started to write, focusing on the story, drowning out any noise except the soft scratch of pen on paper.

Seth looked up from his book, glancing across the  spacious cave at Fae.

Writing in that notebook of hers again. he thought. I wish I knew what was in there.

What the notebook had written in it was one of the only secrets Fae kept from Seth, and had asked him not to look in it. Seth had to force back the pressing curiosity to open it each time Fae left it out. But he couldn't hold back any longer.

"What is in that notebook of yours?" Seth inquired loudly, walking over to Fae and sitting on the edge of her bed. "Don't you think I've waited long enough without knowing what you write everyday?"

Fae snapped her head up from her notebook, startled. She had kept her stories away from prying eyes for so long, but Seth had a point.

"Well, I guess it's time to tell you," she sighed, sitting up and slipping the notebook into Seth's callused hands. "They're stories. About far away places and lost loves and fantasy adventures. When I write them, I get sucked into this incredible place where my worries vanish."

Fae stared off into space, then turned back to Seth. He gestured, indicating he wanted to read it. When Fae nodded, he gently but eagerly flipped through the pages, becoming more and more entranced by the second.

The twisting tales created colorful pictures in his mind, and he spoke words of praise to the pale girl sitting beside him.

"Fae, these are amazing," Seth looked at Fae with admiration in her writing skills. "Why do you keep these secret? These stories... They're beautiful!" he exclaimed.

Fae looked down, fiddling with the blanket cover. "I guess I just feel like no body will like them," she mumbled sadly, scooting over and leaning her head on Seth's shoulder. She felt him stiffen, then relax and start rubbing her arm affectionately.

"I could read your stories a thousand times and never get tired of them," Seth reassured the girl.

He sat up and gazed through the skylight, keeping his hands clasped gently with Fae's. She squeezed his large hand lightly, watching the rising moonlight flicker across his sharp but kind features.
