Larissa and Leon- The Donut Date
It was a dusky winter evening, Larissa had just got done a long day at work and was currently walking home from her workplace. The cobblestone of the street clicked under her boots, nose a soft pink and cheeks cold to the touch. To be fair, even without any wind it was fairly cold, at least for someone who forgot a scarf before they went out the door. Larissa continued on despite the chill that was running up her neck, hurrying through the crowd with her backpack slung over one shoulder.
She was in quite a rush, after all she was going to miss the Christmas party her stepsister was throwing. Such a rush in fact, she failed to realize she was running straight for a tall, lean man with vibrant fiery hair. Larissa made a soft "Oof" sound as she bumped into him, and she blushed. "Oh! I'm so sorry, I should really look where I'm going next time. Are you alright?-" she paused dead in her tracks when she focused on the person that now was laying flat on his ass on the cold street. His facial hair was tied to a small pony tail that was unusually attractive, and his eyes were colourful amongst the rosy complexion his skin held.
"Yo, don't even worry about it." The man responded, Larissa hurrying to offer a hand to him so he could stand up. "Um.. I'm.. Larissa!" She introduced quickly, cringing at how flustered she was getting. The man tilted his head but cracked a smile, leaning forward to fix the woman's knit hat. "Leon. Leon Kuwata." He returned, offering a smile.
Larissa smiled back, before looking to the floor to try and find the phone she was looking at before they bumped heads. With a grin, she picked it up once it was found but immediately paled at the gigantic crack that now split the screen. "God damnit.." she mumbled to herself, and Leon frowned. "Wow.. that's a pretty big crack huh? I'm sorry, I should've been paying more attention too." He admitted before looking around.
"If you'd like.. I do know a friend at a technology repair shop. It's not too far away, and I'm sure he could get ya a discount." Leon offered next, and by the time Larissa had thought to protest, Leon had snatched the phone and was already walking back down the street to his destination. Larissa hurried after him, trying to explain she didn't need his help and that she didn't want to bother him.
Her refutes went unanswered, the two entering the repair shop and venturing to the counter. "Yo! Chihiro!" Leon called and a feminine, young boy turned towards him with a bright smile. "Hey! Leon!" He responded with a voice of butter. "I need you to fix this for me? Long story but.." he leaned forward to whisper. "This really pretty girl ran into me and she broke it. I wanna fix it for her."
Larissa felt her face heat up, listening to the deep gravely tone she could pick up a couple words. She willed herself to pull her eyes away from the short ginger hairs at the nape of his neck. Chihiro chuckled. "Always the charmed huh..? Well I'll see what I can do, it might be a bit of a wait if you wanted to go and get coffee with this pretty girl." He suggested innocently, whisking the phone into the back. Leon grinned. "Well, he's gonna take care of it.. it might take a bit though he said."
Leon paused as he looked down at his feet, his next request bashful. "Did you.. wanna go and get some coffee? Or donuts? theres one next door." Larissa looked up to meet his eyes and played with the tails of her bangs. "Oh.. you mean Monokubs..?" She said and bit her lip out of nervousness. "I suppose we could, if you wanted."
With confidence in his step, Leon smiled and led Larissa out the door. He held the door open once they arrived at Monokubs, sitting down at a table and ordering a plate of donuts plus two coffees for the two of them. It was awkward for a moment, before Leon reached over to grab a donut. Coincidentally, Larissa had reached forward to grab one as she focused on her coffee, their hands brushing together.
Larissa's hand jumped back, and she flushed as she rushed to defend herself. "Sorry! You can have first pick, I'm not even at the donuts yet!" Leon smirked gently, taking the donut that he has originally reached for and putting it between his teeth. "I'm sure we can share it?" He prompted, leaning forward with half the donut in his mouth.
Larissa's heart was doing loops, as she hesitantly leaned forward and bit the other half of the donut between her teeth. Once she did that, Leon winked and bit off his chunk, leaning back in his seat to leave Larissa hanging in the middle of the table. "Leon!" She scolded, rolling her eyes but smiling to herself as she munched on her half. Leon blushed gently, sipping his coffee. "So..? Tell me about yourself. All I know right now is that your kind of clumsy and you have a nice smile."
Larissa laughed. "Well.. I play games sometimes, mostly video games. I like anime, and astrology has always been a hobby of mine. Greek gods are also pretty cool! I love a lot of their backstories and I find the concept very endearing-" she caught herself. "Oh.. sorry! You probably don't wanna hear me ramble about Greek gods." Larissa pushed her glasses back up her nose, and Leon stared at her fondly, combing his hair back with his hand.
"I don't mind, I'll say I've never been a history type of guy, let alone stuff in the stars." He mumbled with mild embarrassment, and Larissa dared to set her chilly hand atop Leon's warm one. "Then.. what type of guy are you?" She asked.
"I used to enjoy baseball, but I'm more for music now."
"What kind of music?"
"Some rock.. I like a bit of country."
Larissa smiled, taking a sip of her coffee but flinching at how hot it was. Leon sat quiet for a moment before he reached for another donut. Larissa chimed in. "Thank you. So much, for getting my phone fixed and.. buying me coffee and donuts. It's so sweet of you, and you really didn't have to." The man grinned. "Well.. it's the least I could do. Plus.. I suppose I may have been scouting out a couple date spots." He hinted and Larissa blushed. "Oh..? For who?"
Leon smirked. "This singer who I know, she had sleek black hair and she dresses like a high school sailor moon." Larissa felt her shoulders deflate from the dissatisfaction. But Leon immediately laughed. "I'm kidding, I haven't seen Sayaka in years. I wonder what ever happened after she moved." He brushed it off and shrugged. "No, I had my sights set on someone.. better." He flushed as he looked down at his lap, taking a big gulp of his coffee.
As Larissa was about to ask who, the waitress came over requesting their payment. She dug out her wallet and slapped a twenty on the table before Leon had a chance to ask for a debit machine. The waitress happily accepted and walked off with their dirty plates, dropping off a box for their donuts. Leon huffed. "You know I coulda done that." Larissa smiled as she countered. "It's the least I could do." She parroted, and Leon rolled his eyes as he laughed.
"Well.. we should probably go and check your phone." He prompted, standing up and taking the box of donuts and handing it to Larissa. She accepted and set it in her bag, downing her coffee before walking out of the coffee shop on Leon's arm.
Back at the repair store, Leon had paid for the expenses, waving to Chihiro as he picked up the phone and left. Outside the store, Leon handed the fresh phone into Larissa's hands. "As promised, a fixed phone." She smiled, taking out a pen from his pocket, pulling off the cap with his teeth and taking Larissa's wrist into his other hand. He wrote down a phone number and his name then capped the pen.
"And that's just a bonus, if your into it." He winked, and Larissa was stood breathless as she grinned. Nodding and trying to stutter out words, Leon pressed a finger to her lips. "No need to thank me.. you can thank me with a date." He concluded, as he turned to leave. "See you around Lari." He winked and disappeared into the street.
Stood in the snow, Larissa was with an smooth phone screen, and ink on her palm. With an excited squeal and a blush, she began back down the street to get her the Christmas party she was attending. She always thought she liked the colours pink and blue, but perhaps... orange could be added to that list.
