Russian Roulette 😨😭

Summary: WHO DOESN'T LOVE SOME JAYA ANGST!!!

To rescue their friends, Jay and Nya are forced to take part in a deadly game, also known as "Russian Roulette,"

Using all his body weight, Jay threw himself at the door, bursting it open. The cold hair kissed his skin, as he roamed through the darkness, linking his fingers through Nya's.

"This is great," Jay muttered, "our friends are gone, and we don't know what the hell happened to them!"

"We need a plan to find them. They could be anywhere now." Nya could feel Jay's grip on her hand tighten with fear. The ninja clad in blue nodded towards the ground where a ribbon of red led out into the distance, "I found a trail. Wanna follow it and see where it takes us?"

Nya nodded, "It's not like we have much of a choice."

The couple delved into the forest, covered by the tall trees and the eerie night sky. Their legs shook with fatigue and they struggled to keep their eyes open, but they kept going. They had to.

The scenery was filled with trees of various lengths, and several flower patches, all lit by wooden staffs set alight. The wind whistled and the branches rustled. Wild critters were asleep or hunting for food, as they would normally do, completely unbothered by the presence of two humans in their habitat.

As they followed the trail, the path got lighter and lighter as more light came through, slowly but surely.

"Hey, look." Jay nodded towards the clearing in front of them, where the section of the forest was brightly lit with torches, revealing a tree stump with six shot glasses placed in a neat circle. Above the layout was a tree, with a cage hanging from the thickest branch, containing four people.

Lloyd gripped onto the bars, "Jay! Nya! We have no idea how we ended up here-"

"It's okay!" Nya coaxed, "We're getting you guys outta there. Just have to find the key-"

"Not so fast." A deep echoey voice disrupted them, "What did the blonde say your names were? Jay and Nya, hmm? Ah yes, now I remember. It's been a while, hasn't it?"

"Come out and face us, you coward!"

"I'd rather stay hidden, thank you very much. It ruins the fun, don't you think?" The voice had a thick accent to it, a Spanish or Arabian accent. Jay and Nya knew that voice all too well.

"Let's play a game, hmm? Do you see the six shot glasses in front of you?" Jay could see the faces of his teammates, and all he could see was fear.

"I see them," Nya murmured, gripping onto Jay's arm.

"Good. The game is simple, really. 5 of those glasses contain water, from the nearby river, but the sixth glass contains..."

Jay shut his eyes, "Don't say it...don't say it..."

"...Tiger Widow Venom."

Kai shook the cage as it rocked back and forth, "What?! What's this bodyless lunatic yapping on about?! Let us out before you feel extreme pain!"

"Hm. He's got a short fuse," the voice murmured, "Anyway. If you play this, I'll let your friends go. And since I'm feeling nice, I've hidden the antidote nearby. But do keep in mind that Tiger Widow Venom works quickly. But if you want the cure, you must free your friends first, and then it'll drop from the sky. Careful so it doesn't break on the stump!"

"I'm not playing games, Nadakhan!"

Cole pushed past Kai, "Who's Nadakhan? JAY!"

Jay stayed silent, cursing softly under his breath.

"Spin the bottle to see who goes first." In the middle of the tree stump was an empty bottle, waiting to be spun.

The duo took their positions opposite each other. With a shaky hand, Jay reached out, gripping the bottle as he gave it a firm spin.

The bottleneck spun...past Nya, past Jay, past Nya, past Jay...stopping to point at Nya. A deep chuckle could be heard from 'Nadakhan,' as Nya bit her lip, "Choose a glass, young Water Ninja. And don't think for a second you can fool me by tipping the contents onto the floor."

Nya stared at the glasses, reaching out and picking one on the Eastside. Jay's breathing stopped as he watched his Yang tip her head back, drinking the contents of the glass. She slammed it down on the table, crushing the glass as she shook her head, "It's water."

"There has to be another way around this!" Lloyd yelped, as Zane took in his surroundings, "Impossible. This cage seems to be made out of vengestone and is weakening us by the minute.

Now it was Jay's turn. He was quick to select the glass right in front of Nya, wasting no time as he repeated the Grey Ninja's movements, swallowing the liquid, "Water."

"Move along, we don't have all night."

The ravenette chose another glass, feeling the water within her. She too, threw the glass aside as Jay picked his second glass, swallowing the beverage. More water

Two glasses remain. Nya picked one, and her movements were shaky, as she brought the glass to her lips.

"Nya! Don't! Please! We can figure this out!"

"Sis, I can't lose you too!"

Nya ignored them, holding her breath as she tipped the glass askew, drinking the contents. She blinked in surprise as she set it down slowly.

It was water.

She lived! It was water- wait...

Jay looked at the final glass, which was right in front of him, before looking back at Nya, whose face crumpled as she ran over, immediately wrapping her arms around Jay's neck. He didn't hesitate, his arms snaking around her waist as he held her tightly.

"I shouldn't have done that," she whispered, "I am so sorry..."

"Shh...it's okay, it's okay. I won't put you through that pain again."

Tears streamed down Nya's cheeks, "Don't do it, Jay."

"I have to. We don't have any other choice."

"There has to be another way...I-I can't imagine a world without you in it...I love you, Jay Walker."

Jay's eyebrows furrowed, "I-...you've never said that before..."

She sniffled, "I know...but it's now or never...and I can't stand to be apart from you, and the idea of you dying...I can't live without you. You're my other half in this world."

"I'll always be your other half, Waterlily,"

Before Nya could speak, Jay pressed his lips onto hers.

It was like the world around them was nonexistent. They had each other in their own home...heaven.

Nya realised what she had to do. The thought of watching her true love die pained her. But she had nothing else to fulfil in life.

She was willing to make that sacrifice if it meant saving him.

Jay gently pulled away, and stared at her, "Gods, you're so beautiful," he murmured, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.

"I'm so sorry."

That was all she said before grabbing the final glass before Jay could, swallowing the liquid.

It was thicker, compared to the water, and it felt like knives were stabbing her insides endlessly as she cried out, falling to the floor.

A key dropped from the sky, and Jay caught it, working quickly as he unlocked the cage. The remaining four ninjas landed in a messy heap, limbs akimbo. The lightning ninja raced back to Nya's side, holding her in his arms

"Where's the vial?!" Jay roared.

A deep chuckle shook everyone to their cores, as the voice spoke, "You stupid boy. There is no cure. It's Tiger Widow Venom!"

Jay screamed into the darkness, "You bastard! You murderer! You promised me! You're a fucking liar!"

The laughter faded, as everyone crowded around the young woman. Jay hoisted her up slightly, "Nya? Nya, it's okay, we're gonna speed back to Ninjago and see if Mystaké can help...Nya? Baby, can you hear me?"

"Sis?" Kai's voice shook, "You there?"

But the breath in Nya's body had left long ago, her soul gone, leaving a frail, lifeless figure in its wake.
