SUMMARY: I mean, I dunno for a summary, this was an old work I had in my drafts and I thought I'd post it. It was supposed to be an AU and this was meant to be the prologue but yea :)

Lloyd headed to the scene, "I'm an intern," he explained to the guard, showing his ID. The guard nodded and lifted the tapes.

"Lloyd. Here!" Zane waved his arms around, as Lloyd joined him, "Man, our first crime scene, huh?"

The blonde nodded, "Crazy, right? Who's the victim?"

"Um...Harumi Jade...her body was found underwater, with bricks tied to her feet to keep her under. Her body's been taken for an autopsy."

Lloyd blinked. The IT girl from the highschool? As Zane rambled on, Lloyd frowned as he caught sight of a familiar figure with their back turned to them, her arms folded, "Zane, wait here..."

Shrugging, Zane left to check up on the detectives. Lloyd grabbed the girl's wrist and pulled her away.

"Ouch! Lloyd, you're hurting, let go!"

Once they were out of earshot, Lloyd let her go, "Nya? What the hell are you doing here? You're supposed to be in school!"

Nya was a Senior at the same highschool as Harumi. She folded her arms indignantly, "Harumi and I were friends...sort of. What are you doing here?"

"My college internship. Criminology, remember? Come on, I'm taking you back, let's go." Nya stepped back, "Can't. They want all friends of Harumi to come in to answer some questions."

"Yeah, well they can't do that! They don't have a time and place. So, I'll bring you back later on when they ask. For now, let's go." Lloyd protectively slung an arm around her shoulder and dragged her to the car park, where his jeep was waiting. He looked up to see his professor taking the register, and swore under his breath, "Crap! Listen, take the jeep and go back to school, I will call you when I need you to bring it back. Do not crash it, for FSM's sake!" He kissed the top of her head and jumped out of the car, sprinting back. Nya rolled her eyes and muttered under her breath.

"Has it not occurred to him that I've failed my driving test three times in a row?"
