Make Up 🥵

SUMMARY: Jay comes to the rescue of a makeup crisis. JAYA

Nya's POV

"Ah, Nya! There you are! Come on now, we're running very late!" Gayle grips my elbow, tugging me down the corridor and into the dressing room, where a woman with bright blue hair was waiting. I'm ushered inside, and Gayle runs back out, ordering producers to their positions. We were doing an interview that was set to be seen worldwide, and had to 'look our best.'

I sit on the seat, and the woman hoists it up, so I could see my reflection in the mirror. Everything was spread out across the vanity table before me; brushes, pallets, mini-mirrors, combs, pins, and other bits and bobs.

The lady began to mutter incoherently about being late, as she scrubs my face with a wet wipe, tossing it in the nearby bin. I glance down as she squeezes out foundation onto a brush. A yelp escapes my mouth as she grabs my chin, smothering my face in foundation. Her neon pink false nails dig into my skin, and I bite back a snarky response.

Next came the concealer, the lady practically painting my face with the wand. I narrowly escape getting stabbed in the eye as she roughly blends everything in. My temper was slowly bubbling over as I grit my teeth. I needed a distraction before I lose it.

Phone...phone...ah! There it was, resting on the polished white vanity table, the screen turned off. Trying not to move my face, I slowly reach forward, my hand touching the wood of the vanity desk.

Eyeshadow is smeared across my lids and my fingers were inches away from my phone. I edge towards it slowly, my hand finally feeling the cool screen beneath my palm.

Perfect. Time to initiate Part 2. This is when my plan started to go awry.

I precariously slide my phone towards me. Now all I had to do was catch it and boom! But it was harder than it seemed.

I scream internally when I lose grip, and the phone falls to the carpeted ground. The lady takes no notice, as she draws on a line on my eyelids with liquid liner. My feet were a long way off the ground, so I spent the next five minutes kicking my legs around aimlessly.

"Nya? There you are?"

Who was it? I couldn't crane my neck around to see the source of the voice, but I recognised the smell.

Lavender detergent, blueberries and cotton candy...it's Jay! He finally comes into view, before bending down and picking my phone up from the ground. I could see the pain on his face as he saw the makeup caked onto my own face. Handing me my phone, he whispers to the lady, "Could you...give us a moment?"

She grunts an answer before leaving us alone, shutting the door behind her. Jay tutted, "FSM...what has she done to you?"

"I think I'm allergic to half of this stuff." I mumble, glued to the seat. Jay works quickly, taking some baby wipes, gently wiping the makeup off my face. It was much more soothing, compared to the lady's rough strokes. I examine Jay's face closely as he furrows his eyebrows in concentration, careful not to hurt me as he brushes the hair out of my eyes.

"Alright, let's see..." Jay was actually very good at makeup and hair, one of the best I knew. Skipping past the foundation, he takes the concealer, gently dabbing it under my eyes as he spoke, "It's a good thing I came when I did."

I mumble a response, "A very good thing." I don't normally care what I look like, but I didn't want to look like a clown in front of the whole world.

He uses a very light amount of highlighter, dusting it across my cheekbones and on the tip of my nose, before leaning in and whispering huskily into my ear, "That robe is driving me crazy. I could just pull the ties, just like that..."

My cheeks burn red, which was exactly the response Jay wanted. He paused to braid my hair into a neat high ponytail, before resuming my makeup. He skipped past the eyeshadow, neatly applying liner and mascara on my lashes and waterline.

"These lipsticks aren't so good," he murmured, "I have a better one."

He blocked the mirror as he stood in front of me, before leaning in, pressing his lips onto mine. I cup his chin gently as I kiss back, his hand playing with the hem of my robe. Unbeknownst to him, I actually have an outfit under it. He pulled away quickly, a teasing smirk on his face. I bite my lip, "I like this lipstick." I whisper, looking right at him.

"There's more from where that came from."

I stand up, and I'm about to kiss him again, when the door opens, revealing Kai holding a frappe, "We're on in five. Get your butts out of here!" He leaves and I sigh, tugging the robe off, revealing my outfit. A simple grey full-sleeved dress, reaching mid thigh, and a pair of silver heels. Definitely not something I'd go for personally, but a nice fit overall.

Jay wraps an arm around me, whispering in my ear, "We'll continue this later. Between you and me, I personally think that dress would look so much better on the floor." (cred to hydroelectricjaya for that oneliner!)

"And that mouth would look so much better on mine." I retort, "But we have an interview to get to."

I leave him there, marching towards the studio with a big grin on my face. Continuing this later? I'll definitely make sure of it.
