Long story short: Jay gets executed, HUGE plot twist at the end, WHEEEEEEEEE k read. I wrote this for the Jaya discord, and upon hitting send I burst out laughing-

The sounds of angry crowds caught Nya's hearing as she edged towards the town square, her long skirts swishing past her ankles. She'd heard word about an execution occurring, which was quite uncommon in the little town of Ninjago.
"Nya?" She whipped around to see her brother, his face smeared with dirt, one eye bruised badly, "What are you doing?"

"Something's happening in the town centre. I have to..." she paused to catch her breath, "I have to see what's going on." Immediately, Kai's face fell into a look of fear as he quickly gripped her shoulders and steered her away, "It's getting late, you should come home-"

"It's the middle of the day, Kai! I need to go, I'll grab lunch at the bar-"
"Nya, if you could just-"
"Kai, ow, ow, Kai! You're hurting me!" He retracted his hands, holding them up in surrender as Nya shook her head, adrenaline pumping through her blood as she sprinted to the town centre, skidding to a halt as she sees the Mayor reading out a speech on the podium in front of a large crowd of citizens. Her eyes scanned the crowds to find her Yin, but no luck. Until...

"Jay Walker, you have been charged for poaching on forbidden lands. How do you plead?"

What... Nya jumped up onto the brick fence, gripping on tightly as she suddenly saw a sight she thought she'd never have to see in her whole life.

Jay had his hands tied behind his back as guards watched him wearily. The Mayor asked again, "I'll repeat my question. How. Do. You. Plead?"
The auburn male glanced up at the head of the town coldly, "Guilty. I plead guilty."The charges would be much much worse, and would indefinitely put his whole family through endless pain if he pleaded innocent.

Nya's heart dropped to her boots as she watched the executors step forward as the Mayor read out the verdict, "Jay Walker, you plead guilty for the poaching on forbidden lands, and thus shall be punished via execution." He nodded at the heavily armed men wordlessly.

They threw a black burlap sack over Jay's head, lifting him onto the tall stool as Nya hurriedly jumped off the wall, running into the crowd, pushing past citizens, "Jay!"

The noose went around his neck, as Nya finally reached the front of the crowd.
"Nya?"
"Jay!"
"Nya, go! Don't watch this, please!"
"Jay don't go!"
The executioner had his hand on the lever, as the young lovers simultaneously shouted out their last words.

"I LOVE YOU, NYA!"

"I'M WITH CHILD, JAY!"

But alas, it was too late.

The stool was tugged away, as Jay's now-lifeless body swayed side to side. Nya fell to her knees, hand covering her mouth as she shook with sobs.
