Welcome to Steep Wisdom, the busiest coffee shop in Ninjago City.

"I have a large raspberry mocha for Maria!"

However our tale focuses on mainly two employees: Lloyd and Jay. They were 3rd year uni students of Darkley's university, working part-time for rent money.

As Jay prepared another customer's order, Lloyd rested his elbow on the table, as he watched him add extra ice. Jay groaned.

"Whaddya want, Lloyd?"

Lloyd smirked cheekily, "You're waiting for her, aren't you?"

"Wha-" the brunette's face flushed bright red, "No! I'm stupid, no, you're stupid!"

"Dude!" Lloyd followed his friend out to the front counter where he handed the customer his coffee, "Just ask her if she wants to grab a coffee with you...or should I ask for you?"

"No!" Jay hissed, "I am not going to do it, I barely know her!"

He whipped his head around just in time to see his favourite customer: Nya. She was a 2nd year student in Darkley's university as well, and a regular customer. Just as another barista approached her, Jay rushed forward.

"Hi! Welcome to Steep Wisdom, what can I get started?" he rushed out breathlessly. Nya giggled at him, "I'll just take my usual, thanks!"

"You got it!" With his cheeks flushing bright red, he disappeared to the back room to prepare the beverage.

"Write a small note or something," Lloyd suggested. Jay gritted his teeth.

"Lloyd, for the last time, I barely know her! I don't wanna freak her out or anything. I'm going to the back room to get more whipped cream. Don't do anything stupid!"

"No promises!"

Lloyd casually whistled as Jay walked off, before grabbing the cup filled with liquid. He pulled out his pen and scrawled Jay's number on there. The blonde thought for a second, before adding a small note along with it. He placed the cup down, just as Jay returned. He narrowed his eyes, "What did you do?" he ask suspiciously.

Lloyd raised his hands in surrender, "N-Nothing!"

Jay rolled his eyes, before topping the drink with whipped cream and a lid. He slipped a straw on, and bought it out to the front, handing it to Nya. Lloyd watched from afar, smirking as they exchanged a few words, and Nya left the shop. He saw her see the note, and a smile spread on her face as she continued walking.

Nya's POV

"He gave me his number! Can you believe it!"

Currently I was in Skylor's dorm, telling her about the cute brown-haired guy at the coffee shop. She nudged me, "What are you waiting for? Text him!"

"Okay!"

My heart was racing, as I typed in a simple greeting.

Hello!

Skylor grinned, "Look! He's typing!"

Hey! I hope you don't mind me asking, but who is this?

"Tell him!"

I laugh at Skylor's excitement as I reply.

It's me, Nya! You wrote your number on the cup with a note.

I'd sent him a picture and the screen indicated that he was typing.

...I see. Anyways, um...wanna grab a coffee sometime, or dinner and a movie?

My smile is so big as I type back.

Of course! Does Friday work for you?

Sure! You live at the dorms, right?

Yup! Room 318

Okay, does 7 work for you?

Sure!

I'll pick you up. I'm Jay, by the way

I gotta go, but I'll talk to you later. I'll see you tomorrow, right?

Your usual order? Milk, with ice, 3 pumps of raspberry, 3 pumps of vanilla, blended, right?

I squeal as I fall onto the bed. I can't believe it! I got a date with him!

"Finally, after ages of pining, you finally made your move!" Skylor laughs. I sit up, "I should get going, it's pretty late!"

"Sure, goodnight!"

"Sweet dreams!"

3rd Person POV

Nya headed back to her dorm room where her roommate was on his laptop.

"Your home late. Good day?"

"Yup, you?"

"I... guess you could say that. Something big's happened hasn't it? I can see by the look on your face!"

Nya danced around excitedly, "I got a date! Actually it's the guy you work with: Jay! He wrote his number on a cup with my order and we're going out on a date this Friday!"

Lloyd grinned at the news. His plan had worked. Now he had to escape the wrath of Jay.

"You idiot!" Lloyd jumped as he saw Jay storm up to him, holding his phone in the air.

"I knew you did something!" He held his phone out, showing the picture of the coffee cup with the note Lloyd had written on it:

Lloyd grinned, "At least it worked. I hear you got a date!"

Jay stopped short. He hadn't told anyone yet, how did Lloyd know about it?

"How do you know about that?"

Lloyd simply smirked, "Because she's my roommate, and I'm good friends with her brother, who's like, really overprotective of her!"

Jay's angry glare suddenly turned to a smile, "Even though I'm writing you out of my Will, thank you,"

"No problem, just call me when you need a best man,"

Jay whipped his head around, "What was that?"

"Nothing!"

He watched Jay prepare an order; Nya's order to be precise. He smiled.

He really was head over heels for her!
