Chapter 35; The Reward

Leyna's POV

We walked into the TARDIS, and I had time to think about why the Master suddenly frowned before when I started knocking. We walked into the TARDIS and I sat down on one of the seats.

"Where are we going?" I asked.

"To get my reward", he answered.

I kept thinking while he flipped switches, but before I knew it, we had landed, and I had no reason down for his frowning.

The Doctor and I are in an abandoned factory. People were running beneath us, holding guns. Must be a war. A potato like alien, aiming a gun at some people down below, was unaware that we were standing right behind him. The Doctor walked closer behind him and pressed a button on the back of the potato's neck with a hammer that was laying near his feet. The potato, gasping in pain, fell to the ground.

I look down to see two people standing there, and one of them looks familiar. Martha! I started waving to her and the man beside her starts waving at us. Martha turns around and starts waving at us, and the Doctor starts waving back. We both got back in the TARDIS, and the Doctor started pressing more buttons, sending us to our next destination.

We landed on a sidewalk beside a road, where a young boy is crossing the road without looking. The Doctor quickly runs toward the boy and drags him over to the TARDIS.

The boy was about to say thank you when he realized who had saved him, "but its you! You're... Mum! Mum!"

A woman, who I am presuming is his mother walked out of the house. "What? What is it?" she asked her son.

"It's him, it's the Doctor!" he exclaims as there Doctor started waving good bye. We got back inside the TARDIS and I then realized who he was waving to.

Sarah Jane Smith. She originally travelled with the fourth regeneration of the Doctor, but they met up again when they stopped a school from being devoured by krillitaines, vampires that could disguise themselves as humans. Or at least, that's what was written in his journal. But, come on, this is the Doctor we're talking about.

The TARDIS stopped again, and we landed in an alien bar. The Doctor walked over to the bar and ordered a drink for Captain Jack Harkness.

When Captain Jack looked our way, he smiled at us. I waved at him. Captain Jack then looked at the paper that came with the drink.

"Doctor, what does it say on the paper?"

"Look", the Doctor answered.
Captain Jack started talking to a guy that was sitting beside him at a bar.

"Did you write the guys name?" I asked the Doctor.

The Doctor nodded and Captain Jack saluted at us before walking out of the bar with the man beside him.

The Doctor and I made our way back to the TARDIS where the Doctor started pressing buttons again.

We landed in a book shop where a book signing was taking place. The Doctor and I got a book from the shelf and lined up. I read the back while we were waiting, and skipped to a page in the book and read that.

"Doctor, you wrote this?"

He nodded and presented his book to the lady who published the book.

"And who's it for?" she asked without looking up from the book.

"The Doctor", he replied.

"To the Doctor. Funny, that's the name he used", she replied.

She looked up at him and smiled, realizing who it was.

"Was she happy in the end?" the Doctor asked her.

"Yes. Yes, she was. Were you?"

The Doctor smiled and waved by, and we walked back into the TARDIS.

"Doctor, where are we going now?" I asked him.

"The last stop", he answered.

The TARDIS landed. I was following him to the doors when he turned around and stopped me.

"Leyna, I'm sorry, but I need this one to he by myself", he apologized.

"Fine", I smiled. I would know what's going on either way. How? The TV screen thing on the console.

A blonde girl was walking away from the TARDIS, and snow was gently falling. The Doctor grunted and held his stomach. The blonde turned around to look at him.

"You all right, mate?" She asked.

"Yeah", the Doctor answered.

"Too much to drink?" She asked.

"Something like that", he replied.

"Maybe it's time you went home", she suggested.

"Yeah", the Doctor said, still holding his stomach.

"Anyway, Happy New Year", she said.

"And you. What year is this?" The Doctor asked.

"Blimey, how much have you had? 2005, January the first", she joked.

"2005. Tell you what. I bet you're going to have a really great year", he said.

"Yeah? See you", she ran off.

The Doctor fell on the ground and I ran from the TARDIS to help him back on his feet.

"Were you watching?" he asked.

"Yes", I told him as I guided him back to the TARDIS.

"So you know who it is?" he asked as he pressed some buttons.

Actually, no. Why would he waste this time on someone who he didn't know? But he must know her, otherwise he wouldn't say 'it will be a great year'. But which regeneration was he in 2005? I recalled his journal and now I know.

"You love her. You really love her. And that's the last time you'll see her."

He nodded and the noise of the TARDIS filled the room.

"Wait." I pulled a lever back down so we would stop.

"This is the last time you'll see her. Why would you see her now? What's happening next?" I asked him.

He looked down at his hands, making me look at his hands, too. I didn't see anything at first, but then I saw some regeneration energy coming from his hands.

"The inevitable", he answered.
