Familiar Faces
Authors Note: This chapter is dedicated to laurenkay1995 for fangirling with me over Bill and Ted. :) Party on dude!!
For those wondering, the pic is how I kinda imagined Jim. (he's the closest I could find) His name is Joe Walker from Team Starkid. I got to meet him. He's really cool!....Anyway! Enjoy! Feedback is always loved immensely! <3 \m/
"Ever wonder why the obstacle course and hand-to-hand was so easy for you? You're the chosen one, Ted. I mean, we are. They call it The Matrix."
Ted furrowed his eyebrows in confusion and looked up at Neo.
"What's the Matrix?"
Neo drew in a long breath.
"It's...very complicated. It will skew your perception of everything you know."
Ted nodded and waited for the explanation.
"Okay, I'll try to ease you into this," Neo put a hand on Ted's shoulder, paused, then put one on Bill's too. The Doctor, feeling left out, put a hand on Neo's shoulder. Neo glanced at him once, then explained.
"Reality as perceived by most humans is actually a simulated reality called 'The Matrix', which was created by machines to control the human population, so their bodies can be used as an energy source. In short, none of this is real. It's a lot like a dream, while we are being contained and used as fuel."
Ted gripped the sides of his head, trying to understand. The Doctor eased the silence by making a statement.
"Okay. I get that. I do believe the Cybermen tried something similar before the Time War. It all makes sense, really. I knew the air tasted different. Ted, Neo, the sun's gone out. But humans are easy to maintain, especially in a comatose state. They just sleep, they dream, they can't fight back.
Humans can be used for the energy, especially if their mind is active, which is why you're allowed to move around in this dream world. You'd never be the wiser and live yourself to death, am I right?"
Neo ran through everything The Doctor said.
"You've got the basic idea. A bit off, but you've got most of it... how do you know all this?"
"I'm not human," The Doctor stated simply. "I'm Timelord."
"Timelord?" Neo repeated.
"Do you believe in aliens?"
But Bill wasn't getting it, and it frustrated him.
"So I'm not real?" He said in confusion, running his hands down his arms and stomach.
"No, Bill, Ted, you're real. You're not controlled. See, I think I have this figured out. There's a specific spot in the timeline where you two split off: where Ted goes to Oats and you travel to Santa Carla. If that future never happens, Ted never ends up in The Matrix, just like you never end up a vampire."
"You're a vampire?" Neo pulled a face of disbelief.
"Long story," The Doctor said quickly.
"Ted! So this is the Bill you were telling me about? From Wild Horses or something?" Jim finally piped up.
"Wyld Stallyns," Ted corrected, "and yeah, dude. How was finishing Oats?"
"The man still hates me," Jim confirmed, almost proudly. "But in the end, it's a good thing I got trained by him. It's very useful here in the Matrix." He shouted the last words into the sky, like he wanted to be heard. Many heads turned toward him, and Jim just grinned and waved.
"Jim, keep your voice down, would you?" Neo growled, reaching to shush Jim with his hand. Jim ducked out of reach.
"Why? They know we're fighting back. And I hate those vicious---"
Jim looked at The Doctor's face, and it was clearly a Watch-What-You-Say-Around-Me glare.
"---losers."
"I know, Jim, but--"
"They killed Corey. They killed Neil. They killed Alex. Or don't you remember that?"
Ted's heart dropped. All his mouth could form was a choked-out "No...,"
"They killed Bill, too, Jim. But now we have a chance to stop this, to save Corey, Alex, Neil, and even Bill. I have to go with The Doctor and fix this," Neo stated firmly.
"Then I'm coming too!" Jim confirmed.
"No, Jim, with me gone, you have to watch out for all these people."
"Neo, I'm not letting you go kill yourself. If you're gonna bring back my friends from the dead and get revenge, I wanna be there!"
"Jim. I said no. They need you here. It's not revenge, anyway. If this goes right, none of this will have ever happened."
Jim was not happy with being told no, but he held a finger to Neo's face.
"Alright," he growled. "But you get your butt back here in one piece, okay?"
"Yeah,"
Jim gave Neo a quick hug, patting him on the back. He smiled at The Doctor and shook his hand.
"And you!" Jim turned to Ted. "Take care of yourself." He was proud of that joke, and pulled Bill and Ted in for a hug.
"Later, dude," Ted said quietly.
Neo picked up his staff and sunglasses and went with The Doctor, Bill and Ted.
The four went into the TARDIS just in time, too.
It seems the Frogs had woken up.
Dwayne was choking Alan against a wall, David and Paul were wrestling Edgar for a wooden stake, three of the four bikes were knocked over and trashed, and Marko was standing on the console shouting for everyone to stop.
Immediately, Neo bolted from Bill's side, staff in hand. With one swing, he hit Paul in the wrist and made him let go of Edgar. The other side of the staff hit David in the chest and forced him back. David snarled viciously and tried to attack Neo, but he blocked every move with the greatest ease.
Meanwhile, Ted had jumped in, grabbing Dwayne by the back of his jacket and ripping him away from Alan. Alan gasped in a breath of air and went for Dwayne again, but Ted kicked him right in the chest, which caused the vampire hunter to fall.
Dwayne reached in to attack Ted, and for a second, all Ted could see were the vampire's yellow eyes, fangs, and black hair. Ted, in self defense, grabbed a handful of Dwayne's necklace and slammed it upward, right into his face. The dark haired vampire cried out from the pain of it and scrabbled at his face.
Marko jumped in this time, grabbing Dwayne by the arms and holding him at bay. Dwayne was no calmer, but he didn't attack Marko. Ted pinned Alan to the wall by holding his shoulders, and looked back at Marko.
Dwayne was a tall, vicious man. His long, long black hair was now disheveled, his tanned skin slick with sweat and just a touch of blood. His bare chest rose and fell rapidly from underneath Marko's grip and the leather jacket, but slowly, his eyes changed from yellow to brown.
Bill was holding Edgar back, and Neo had subdued both David and Paul with his staff. David's eyes were burning holes into Neo, but Neo's expression didn't change. Paul had his large fangs bared, shaking his head a few times to try and get his blond hair away from his face.
Even angry and ready to kill, he still had a certain charm about him, a twisted sense of humor, because he was laughing quite chillingly, daring Neo to let him go.
The Doctor shouted over the argumentative noise.
"If you could all hold still a minute because --I --AM-- TALKING!!!"
Silence.
"Thank you. Now. From this moment forward, there will be no fighting whatsoever between any of you or I will not hesitate to throw you into a supernova! I invite you onto my TARDIS and you fight and try to kill and utterly destroy my interior design?!
I was in the last great Time War when the Daleks murdered my people and since then I have never killed. I've had many an opportunity, but after Gallifrey fell, have I? No!
I expect the same respect from all of you, because right now there is a much bigger problem than who's a vampire and who's not, you hear? If we don't stop this, we--are--all--dead, do you understand?!"
Murmurs of agreement.
"Good. Now let's get a move on. Geronimo."
