Skye sat in a corner of the cafe, her thoughts a chaotic whirlwind. The pregnancy test, with its two unmistakable pink lines, lay in her Lulu Lemon bag, partially visible through the unzipped opening. How could this happen? She was on the brink of going back to medical school; a baby was the last thing she needed in her life right now.

The door chimed, pulling her from her thoughts. Christopher walked in, dressed in his golf attire which, Skye begrudgingly admitted to herself, accentuated his butt in a way that was hard to ignore. 'Dammit, Skye, focus,' she chastised herself mentally.

Christopher, oblivious to the server who looked at him with a hint of admiration, made his way to Skye's table and sat down. He glanced at her, his expression a mix of concern and uncertainty.

"So...um, hey," he greeted, his usual confidence somewhat subdued.

Skye took a deep breath, her hands trembling slightly as she reached into her bag and pulled out the pregnancy test. She placed it on the table between them, the reality of the situation weighing heavily in the air.

Christopher's eyes widened as he looked at the test, then back at Skye. A myriad of emotions flickered across his face before he found his voice. "Is it... is it mine?"

Skye nodded, her throat tight. "Yes, it's yours. We... I mean, there was no one else."

The weight of the moment settled around them. Christopher leaned back in his chair, running a hand through his hair, a gesture of confusion and disbelief. "I... I don't know what to say, Skye. This is... a lot."

Skye felt a tear slip down her cheek, her emotions raw and exposed. "I know. I'm just as shocked. I didn't plan for this, Chris. I was going back to school, and now... this changes everything."

They sat in silence, each lost in their own thoughts. The reality of the situation was daunting – a doctor and a nurse, their lives and careers on a set trajectory, now faced with an unexpected and life-altering challenge.

Christopher finally spoke, his voice firm yet gentle. "Skye, whatever happens to us wind or storm, I'm here. We'll figure this out together, okay?"

Skye looked up, meeting his gaze. The sincerity in his eyes offered a glimmer of comfort in the chaos of her emotions. "Thank you, Chris," she whispered, a small sense of relief threading through her anxiety.

Sitting across from Skye in the café, Christopher felt a whirlwind of emotions. He was shocked, unprepared, but also, deep down, there was a sense of responsibility that he couldn't shake off. Abortion was not an option he could consider. It was his child growing inside Skye, and that realization brought a gravity to his thoughts.

"It's not just a decision to be made lightly, Skye. Abortion definitely isn't an option. It's our child," Christopher said firmly, his voice laced with conviction. "I know this is unexpected, but I'm prepared to take responsibility. I can raise the child myself if need be."

Skye looked stunned. "Chris, so much is going on right now. I might put it up for adoption," she said, her voice quivering.

The idea of his child being given up for adoption was something Christopher couldn't bear. "No, I won't allow that," he responded quickly, perhaps more sharply than he intended.

In his mind, he could hear his mother's voice, chastising him for not being careful. He had always had a rash with condoms, so he never thought it was a big deal. But now, the consequences of that oversight were all too real.

His father's words echoed in his mind, about wanting grandchildren. But Christopher doubted this was the scenario his parents had envisioned. He was the only child, the bearer of the family legacy, and here he was, facing fatherhood under less than ideal circumstances.

"Look, Skye," he said, trying to compose himself. "I know this isn't how either of us planned things. But I'm here, and I'm ready to support you and our child in any way I can."

Skye's eyes were filled with a mix of fear and uncertainty. Christopher could see the enormity of the situation weighing on her. He reached across the table, offering his hand as a gesture of solidarity.

"We'll figure this out together," he reassured her. "Whatever you decide, you're not alone in this."

As they sat there, holding hands across the table, Christopher felt a new resolve settling within him. This was a turning point in his life, and he was determined to face it with courage and responsibility. The path ahead would be challenging, no doubt, but he was ready to take it on, for Skye and for their child.
