Chapter 13: What is lost, and never forgotten
After the fight against Keldeo, and the mysterious appearances of the pokemon who carried him away, I went into the altar.
Knowing that N was once here before, i kept myself on guard just in case he ever decided to show up again, all while i searched for my friends.
It seemed quieter than usual.
“All this decay… All this disaster. All this for control? Why would he do this!” I thought to myself.
While i walked, i could hear slight footsteps behind me, but at that time, i thought it was an echo of my own.
But further behind me…
“It appears that we are alone heading into the altar, I hope.” Said Starshadow.
“But from what i can tell, sight is not really reliable. Your senses are the real trust.” Said Cosmo.
“Yeah, yeah, you always say that… And the last time YOU did, YOU were wrong.” Said Starshadow.
“Well, okay, that doesn’t compare to how many things you’ve messed up.” Said Cosmo.
Then Starshadow stopped and gave Cosmo an intimidating look.
“Oops, did i make someone mad?” Said Cosmo, now teasing Starshadow.
Instead of Cosmo stopping with Starshadow, Cosmo kept going.
At this point, I was further ahead than them, but Lusamine, Orin and Hugo were entering the altar from the side, near where I was at.
(Currently about a kilometer east of me…)
“I have a bad feeling about this…” Said Hugo.
“Oh, well don’t we all!?” Said Orin, probably wanting him to be quiet.
“Hey, have you ever noticed how the storm rotations center matches the altar?” Said Lusamine.
“Yes, I’ve seen it already…” Said Orin, now going into the altar.
“Well, this is for the best or the worst.” Said Lusamine, also entering the altar.
Hugo slowly followed them both.
Now at this very point, all three parties were at least a kilometer away from each other. And each party was getting closer by the minute, already including myself.
The fourth party, which was originally the second, was actually my friends.
They were the second party from the very start.
They weren’t here at the altar, and I didn't know that. They were still in that forest about 9 miles away, and Blazefire wasn’t scouting at that time, so i wouldn’t know.
They were coming to the altar for the reason of Darkrai.
After Darkrai heard of N being here, he left immediately.
Of course they were also coming here to stop what N started, but the thing is, is that N was not here, and none of us knew that.
“Stop!” Said Cosmo.
“Now what is it?” Said Starshadow.
Cosmo looked around, and then at Starshadow.
“A human is here… Multiple amounts of them, I can sense it.” Said Cosmo.
“Well, if we’ll have to deal with them, then that’ll be easy!” Said Starshadow.
(Currently where i’m at…)
I then stopped, and looked at the empty room.
I then noticed a pendant on the floor, consisting of Lucarionite, but the pendant was broken, while the stone was intact.
“Hayden… no....” I said slowly picking it up.
I then looked over at the spot that I was fighting N, and saw my brown bag that I received a long time ago that I dropped during the battle.
I rushed over to pick it up, and sort of had a moment with its memories.
I stared at the pendant, and then I was looking for some other things that they might’ve left behind.
Now, I lost even more hope.
I did not know if they were alive or not, and with this pendant that was on the floor, that proved that they might not have made it alive.
I fell to the ground, clutching the pendant that was now in my hand, and I began to cry.
“WHY!!!?” I then yelled in which that echoed all across the altar.
(Currently one kilometer behind me…)
“Did you hear that?” Said Cosmo.
“Actually, yeah, i did hear that.” Said Starshadow.
“Come on, we must go find out what that was!” Said Cosmo, now running getting closer to my location.
“Wait up!” Said Starshadow, now beginning to run with Cosmo.
They ran very silently, to the point where I couldn't even hear them if they ran right next to me.
They then slowed down when they saw the large room that I was in, and they saw me in it.
“Cosmo, It’s Thunderheart.” Starshadow whispered.
“Yeah, but what is he doing here, and why is he crying?” Cosmo whispered.
“I’m gonna go talk to him…” Starshadow whispered.
Cosmo nodded, and Starshadow walked towards me.
“Hey, Thunderheart…” Starshadow said a little nervously.
I then stopped crying, and looked at Starshadow.
He then gave a slight wave.
I then ran over to him to hug him, and I started to cry again, all while not saying anything.
“What’s wrong, Thundy?” Said Starshadow as I hugged him.
I then backed off, and held out the broken pendant.
He then looked surprised.
Cosmo then stepped out of the shadows and stared at the pendant.
“Wasn’t that Hayden’s?” Said Cosmo, as she examined it.
I nodded and walked to her and also gave her a hug.
“Where have you been?” She said.
I didn’t want to speak, but Starshadow then realized what had just happened.
“Cosmo, this pendant… It was interlocked to Hayden as an endless bond, and now it’s here, and Hayden is nowhere in sight…
Is… Hayden dead?” Starshadow said now understanding everything.
“Wait a minute… Where is everyone?” Cosmo said in a worryful tone.
