XV - Star Has A Chat With Her Grandma
"How much fartheeeer..." Groaned Marco, who was growing tired of waiting. Angie checked her wrist watch and looked back at them. "About 3 more hours before we get there Marco," she replied, "Maybe 4 If it started raining." Then, as if on cue, droplets of water started appearing on the windscreen, and in a few short seconds there was a downpour.
Star giggled as Marco groaned and thumped his head against the back of the driver's seat. "Hey! You know there's a rule on the road we should always respect," Raphael lifted his chin and gave his best British Squire accent, "Neigh mess with thy driver whence on thyne road!" Raphael cleared his throat, "Which probably means 'Get off my lawn you crazy hooligans!' In Italian."
Marco groaned, "Thats not an Italian Quote dad. No, wait," Marco jumped from his seat and shouted, "THAT QUOTE DOESN'T EVEN EXIST!" The rest of the passengers just laughed, Marco grumbled something Star couldn't make out and crawled into the back, in the mungle of camping equipment, there was a small cove for Marco to hang out in- Angie hadn't said he was allowed to go there, but she didn't seem to notice- There was a long line of cardboard for him to lie down on, there were a bunch of crumpled Mentos mint-flavored candy wrappers littered all over the place, a sleeping bag was his pillow, and next to the handle that opened the back of the car was a note saying 'Star! If I fall asleep, do not, AT ALL COSTS, pull this lever!' A badly drawn arrow was pointed to the handle for good measure. Marco fell in silently, keeping caution as his mother might hear him, and lied down on the cardboard mattress to sleep.
Star couldn't help giving off a smile watching Marco sleeping. He looked like one of those cute kittens takin a nap in the arms of it's owner. Get your dirty hands off me! Wash them, or don't you ever touch my head again! Star couldn't help but giggling at the thought.
Star was still baffled at how mature, and immature he'd gotten. Sure, he was at most a foot taller than her now, meaning she had to either go on her tiptoes or pull his face down to kiss him, and it is true that he's more of a gentleman now. Although she's not quite sure what's going on in his brain, Star suspects something really perverted must be going up his noggin whenever they were in the same room. But he was still the same old Marco, still goofy, still smarter than her, still protective, and still a safe kid. And she loved that about him the most.
Love...
Star loved him, more than as a friend with benefit. She grew tired of hiding their relationship seconds after their first session. She wanted him, but somehow less than how she wanted him before. He wanted to be called his girlfriend, not his whore. And that's what she saw herself as, a whore, a slut, and other disgusting creatures that walk on earth. You're a Princess! Not a Prostitute! Her mother's voice rang out.
Stop it Star, she thought to herself, you're only making yourself feel worse.
A 'Psst!' sound came from behind her. She turned around and saw half-awake Marco, "Wake me up when we get there, okay Star?" He dreamily whispered, Star nodded, gave a cheery smile and kissed him in the nose. A wave of crimson crawled up his cheeks, and he went back to lie in his cove.
Marco's words snapped the princess out of arguing with herself. She scooted to the left side of the back seat- Where Marco was sitting a few minutes ago- and looked wistfully out the window.
The radio station changed, an old 80's sort of slow beat tune started playing. "Oh honey! It's the song they played when we first met in prom!" Angie giggled, Raphael hummed out the tune. The song made Star feel sleepy, she closed her eyes, and her thoughts drifted back to three days ago, inside Echo Creek's 3rd janitor's closet.
It all happened so fast.
First, the door swung open revealing two figures, one was excessively fat and the other was exceptionally skinny. Second, Marco slipped his dick out of her and back into his underwear. He tried to run backwards, but ended up slipping on the puddle of water underneath his feet. Star was holding on to him, so they both fell together. Which led to number three, Star's ass was exposed, leaving the two figure with their mouths hanging open.
The two got a good shot, Marco was lying on the floor, his face red and his eyes bloodshot. Star was crouching in a dog like position over Marco with her skirt off. So the lucky two saw her buns hole and pussy just by opening a goddamn door.
Star wasn't quite sure of what happened next, but she did see Marco get up and attack at the two guys sprawling out of the closet. Star fixed her dress, pulled up her panties and took a peek out from the door.
Marco and his two friends Ferguson and Alfonso were having a conversation with Principal Skeeves and Mr. Candle. They must've been caught fighting in the corridors, thought Star. Marco kept glancing back at the door, when he saw her peeking out he silently mouthed out 'Wet back this ice'.
'What?' Mouthed out Star, Marco gestured something with his hands. Star couldn't understand what he was saying. 'Wet back this ice'...... Star's face lit up, 'Get back Inside'... Oh.
Star quickly went back in. Her heart was pounding. If the two told the Principal about what she and Marco had been doing, she was beyond toast. Her parents would be send her straight back to Mewni, or worse, publicly excecuted. She started to cry, not a pretty sight. She silently prayed to God, hoping nothing would go wrong, even if she fully deserved punishment. She prayed to Christ's God, to Mewni's God. To any of the gods to help her.
Soon enough, he heard footsteps come from outside. Star's dread faded slowly when Marco appeared over the door, he quickly closed it, locked it, and went to comfort Star.
And that was that. Only now did Star realize there was something wrong with her.
Soon everything went dark, a faint swirl of colors swam across her field of vision. Must be sleeping, Star thought.
"It's terrible isn't it? How death plagues the mind of the pure?" A woman's voice came from behind her, Star quickly turned around and saw a young pale lady holding an opened umbrella. She wore dark clothes, a tight black dress that reached from her shoulders to her knees, and a long hat with a quill attached. Her umbrella was also quite dark, with gray features here and there, her face was beautiful, her eyes were the color of blood, her smile was light, a mother's sort of smile, but her spade shaped cheek marks made her look like a queen.
"Eclipsa," Star said, "How'd you get in my dreams?"
Eclipsa gave a small laugh. "I'm not in your dreams dear. Just whats left."
"Um, okay," Star scratched the back of her neck. "Why are you in my dreams?"
Eclipsa slowly paced around the void. "Just stopped by to give you a message from the other world. Being dead isn't so bad actually."
Star suddenly gasped, "You're dead?! B-but the guards swore they would protect you! Mom said you'd stay safe in that tower! She swo-"
"HAHAHAHA" Eclipsa boomed with laughter, her laugh was exotic, melodic, yet bittersweet to the ears, like the sound of a fork forced against a wine glass when the bride or the groom in a wedding want to make a toast, except the glass suddenly broke because the groom hit it too had, "Who is to say that you are not dead? Are you really still there in that car of yours? Sleeping like a sweet little girl?"
Eclipsa moved slowly closer to her. Star could almost feel the dark aura around her, she might not have noticed it when she was alive, but she sure does now.
"To put it in simpler ways, I am asleep," Eclipsa stared at Star dead in the eye. It sent shivers down the princess's spine, "I slept in the tower, I slept in great pain, horrible pain, yet I have to admit I deserved it. Nobody came to my tower to put me to sleep, but nobody came to my tower to comfort me in my last moments either," She looked away and rubbed her eyes, then glanced back at Star, "I guess I deserved that as well."
Star had her mouth slightly open at her in shock, "The guards never knew?"
"They never sought to check until... Well right now actually," A 'Seeing Eye' portal appeared next to her, these kinds of portals can give any wand bearer a glimpse of whats happening in real time to a certain area which the bearer most desires to know about.
The image shone on the portal was two armored Mewmen looming over a corpse in the tower.
Star's throat felt dry. Can your throat feel dry in a dream world? I'm not so sure. Star felt like she needed to say something, but the words just wouldn't come out.
"Eclipsa," Star said slowly, "Where are we? Are we in some dream world? Or is this happening in the real world?"
Eclipsa grinned, "You are aware of what dimensional scissors do? They cut open a small passageway for a user to travel into one dimension to another, right?"
"There is of course," she continued, "one dimension that needs not the pleasures of dimensional scissors to go to."
She paused for a second, "There are two sides of a penny," she pulled a penny out of thin air, "The front and the back. One of those sides is the real world, the concrete dimension. And the other side is the dream world, the abstract dimension."
Star tried to process the information, "So, which side of the penny are we on?"
"The third side," she turned to penny sideways, so the side view of the penny was shown. "The path from the real world, to the dream world."
Star's head was aching, "So... How did we get here?"
Eclipsa smiled lovingly, "We simply went to sleep."
Star's eyes opened wide, "I-I'm dead?!" Her breathing became intense.
Eclipsa started laughing, "Just because you're asleep doesn't mean you'll always be asleep!"
Star was calmer now, but quite dumbfounded, "So... I can wake up?" Eclipsa nodded in agreement.
"What about you?" Star asked, "Are you going to wake up?"
Eclipsa sighed, "No, my dear. I have come to sleep 'till the end of days."
Star felt sad hearing that, there was a long silence between the two ladies. Eclipsa smiled at her, said nothing, and started walking away.
"Granny," Star began, "How did you die?"
Eclipsa looked back, and smiled again, "The same way you will, or might, at least... But don't let that thought get to you dear. Do not fear death, to sleep is only to move, move from the known to the unknown. Move from the real to the reality. Move from the end of the beginning, to the beginning of eternity."
Eclipsa soon faded away into the void.
"Granny! What was the message you were gonna give me!?" Star shouted into the abyss.
No answer...
Star woke up with a start, she woke up suddenly, but felt calm.
She was tempted to ask where they were now, until she looked outside the window, the scene outside had changed from when she first slept, it was a grassland before, now it looked more like a view going up a mountain. Star got her answer pretty quickly.
Marco was still asleep in the back next to all the camping gear. Angie still hadn't noticed, or maybe she did but didn't really care all that much, who knows? The tune playing was another 80's song Star couldn't understand.
The car stopped, She looked out the window once more, and she tried to imagine the face of Eclipsa again, but even now the memory of her was slowly fading back into the dream world.
I have come to sleep 'till the end of days.
"Goodnight Granny." She muttered under her breath, and went back to sleep.
