And The War Continues!

Third Person POV

2 days after the meeting with the Amazonian Queen.

It's been two days since Perseus signed the peace treaty with the Amazons. Two days, and the war has jump started. The Greeks and Egyptian Forces together are still outnumbered by the Romans. This is a fact that the Greeks and Egyptians have acknowledged, yet they are determined to win.

Perseus is committed to this war. As such, he has made the demigod Generals of the Egyptian and Greek Armies, immortals like Artemis' hunters, and has expanded their powers.

King Leonidas, who is a son of Ares, was granted partial immortality, he also gained the power to summon Skeleton and Ghost warriors to aid him in battle since he was adopted by Osiris, God of the Underworld.

Since Zoë is part of the Hunt and Achilles is a God, Perseus has no mortal children to bestow powers to. He searched but has not found anyone worthy of being his champion. As such, Perseus has been watching the battles from afar, his heart hurting with each Greek and Egyptian slain in battle.

A flash beside Perseus brought him back from his brooding. 'My lord, a minor goddess wishes to speak to you. She claims to have an idea that might help our forces in the war' Seshat reported, looking worriedly at Perseus and the battle that is taking place in the distance.

Perseus nodded, hope rising in his heart, before flashing to Olympus. As the usual light died down, he looked before him and saw Hecate. She bowed in respect to me before straightening up.

'Lady Hecate. Its good to see you but aren't you supposed to be in Rome?' Perseus asked politely.

Hecate smiled nervously. 'I never left to Rome with the rest of the Olympians, my lord, I went to the Titans believing that they will at least recognize me and give me the respect I always wanted but never received' Hecate said softly as she fiddled with her feet.

Perseus stared at her for several minutes as he thought about what she said before speaking. 'And with whom do your loyalties lie with Hecate?' Perseus asked.

Hecate looked up, finally meeting Perseus' eyes. 'I stand with you my lord. You were always kind to all Gods and Goddesses, whether major or minor. That is why I came back, because the Titans just want to kill everyone. I don't want that, I just wish to be respected and you have been the only major God to ever show us respect' She stated confidently, her back straightening and her head raised high proudly.

Perseus smiled. 'The Titans would have treated you worse than the Olympians, trust me. But I want you to swear fealty to me and my future wife, Lady Thetis. It's not that I don't trust you, it's just something that everyone, even Major Gods, have done to avoid having a Civil War between each other' Perseus stated with an even tone.

Hecate nodded in understanding before she swore fealty to Perseus and Thetis. Perseus then enveloped Hecate in a friendly hug before smiling warmly at her.

'Thank you Hecate. Now I believe you had something for me?' Perseus asked politely.

Hecate nodded and smiled. 'Yes, I was informed that Rome was waging war against Greece. I couldn't help but notice that we are outnumbered so I started looking for ways to help the Greeks and I finally came to a solution!' Hecate replied happily as she took out a book that seemed ancient.

'And what did you find?' Perseus asked curiously.

Hecate grinned. 'I found an old spell that would boost a mortal's skill level like swordsmanship or archery. It also boosts the mortal's stamina and endurance as well as speed and strength. With a few tweaks, I found out how to make it work on large numbers of mortals' Hecate said proudly as she flipped through the pages in the book and stopped when she found the spell.

Perseus took the book and saw the spell. It was called The Elixir Of Heroes. Perseus nodded in in approval before smiling kindly at her.

'Nice work Hecate, but this spell seems to take quite a bit of power. Do you need me to provide the power for this spell? I'd like to provide this same spell to the Egyptians as well as they are fighting with the Greeks' Perseus said Hecate nodded.

'Yes it does take up a lot of power. I would only have enough power for 100 soldiers but would only be able to sustain such a spell for 3 days before I pass out' Hecate said smiling sadly at her lack of power.

Perseus nodded before calling a Council Meeting. In moments, the Council had gathered and were seated, waiting for their King to speak.

'Good evening Persians! I have called this meeting because Hecate, Goddess of Magic, has informed me of a spell that can turn the tides of war in our favor. Hecate will you please fill them in on the spell and it's requirements' Perseus asked.

Hecate nodded. 'Of course my lord' She said before turning to the rest of the Council. 'I have found a spell that would boost the soldiers strength, speed, endurance, stamina and the level of skill one might have in fighting such as swordsmanship' Hecate began.

She looked around the room as many were nodding their heads in approval.

'The downside of this spell is that it takes up a lot of power. To perform this spell AND sustain it, I will need power. Depending on who would like to donate their power, I may be able to sustain the spell for a month maybe or even 2 months' Hecate finished nervously.

The council seemed to be thinking about this new information, processing it and seeing if it's worth it. After several moments, many council members seemed to approve of this plan.

'I volunteer myself as a power source for this spell. If it will aid us in defeating Rome then I'll do it' Anubis stated confidently.

Perseus nodded. 'I too will be volunteering' Perseus said much to the Council's dismay.

'But my lord, doing this may weaken you and the Olympians might take advantage of that fact' Horus said concerned.

Perseus smiled. 'I am not afraid of being weakened. My power shall return just as surely as a new day shall begin tomorrow. Plus, if we are lucky, the Olympians won't know that we are weakening since they have lost their brains' Perseus said motioning towards Athena who blushed at the sudden attention.

Several more hands went up, even the twins volunteered. Hecate nodded glad that the Persian Council was more kind and accepting of her mystical power. 'Thank you all for volunteering. With so many powerful volunteers, we will have enough power to activate the spell and sustain it for a little more than a year!' Hecate said excitedly.

She then turned towards the King Perseus. 'When would you like me to cast the spell, my lord?' She asked looking up at the King expectantly.

Perseus looked thoughtful before turning to Horus and Achilles, whom are in charge of the Greek Army. 'How close are we to the nearest Roman City?' Perseus asked.

'The Greeks are still pushing forward heading straight towards the nearest City, however their progress is being slowed by light skirmishes from the Romans. They will reach the nearest city in 2 days as planned at the latest, however they could reach it earlier since they are pushing hard under the leadership of King Leonidas' Anubis said looking thoughtful.

Perseus nodded. 'Then we will cast the spell as soon as Hecate here could perform it' Perseus said as all eyes turned to Hecate.

She nodded with a determined look on her face. 'I can cast the spell as soon as this meeting is over. I already have the wording done' She said proudly.

Perseus nodded. 'Good, start the spell now then. Our forces need all the aid they can get to repel the Romans and drive them back. ALL the way back' Perseus gave his permission.

Hecate nodded before starting her incantation.

~~~Time Skip!~~~
Leonidas' POV! (Surprise!)
I marched to the very front of the United Greek Armies. Before me stood the Roman City of Romania(I totally made this city up) It's one of Rome's greatest suppliers and has a harbor that shall prove useful for when the Egyptians decide to send us reinforcements.
Unfortunately it's a rather large city and will take time to subdue the entire city thanks to the large reinforcements the Romans sent. I turned to my friend Priam and nodded.
'Do you think we are ready to lay siege to the city now or should we wait?' I asked Priam as Priam is older and has more experience than me at warfare.
Priam smiled. 'With the spell that the Gods have cast on us and our soldiers, I believe we are more than ready to sack the city' Priam replied with a determined look.
I nodded. 'Alright I will lead the soldiers while you stay behind and place the rest of the soldiers where they are needed as well as calling archer support' I said seeing as Priam is a bit old.
He laughed heartily before nodding. 'Yes I agree seeing as I'm too damn old to battle' Priam said almost as if reading my mind.
I gave him a nod before turning on my heels and putting on my helm. I grabbed my spear and tightened my belt that was holding my short sword as I continued marching to where my Spartans were standing next to the Myrmidons.
'Today we will strike fear into the hearts and souls of these Roman scum! They think they are all big and bad now just because they have an emperor and call themselves an Empire!' I screamed loud enough for the entire army to hear me.
I stopped and looked around slowly, giving everyone a nod and smiling at them proudly.
'But we will show them what it means to face the Greatest Fighting Force in the World! We will show them what happens when they dare challenge us and our Gods! Today ladies, we fight! Today, we kick over Roman buildings! Today, We will fight like monsters, or die honorably!' I yelled pulling on my shield and raising my spear high into the air.
'For Greece! For the Persian Gods! CHARGE!' I bellowed as loud as possible before turning around and charging forward towards Romania.
As I charged, I looked across the field as saw the Gates to Romania start closing. I cursed under my breath before sending a quick prayer to Lord Perseus.
"Lord Perseus, hear my prayer. Send a wave of power down from the heavens and destroy that gate, that we Greeks who fight in your name and honor, be able to sack this city quickly and with minimal loses' I silently prayed as I continued charging.
I was only about 50 yards away from the Gates when a rumble was heard and the skies darkened. Then the biggest bolt of destructive power dropped down and smashed against the Gates, completely obliterating it. I raised my shield up to cover my face from all the shrapnel that flew in all directions.
I laughed like a maniac when I saw the Gates, or what once was the Gates. Now it was a huge gaping hole with enough room for the entire army to charge right through. I also saw many bodies of Roman archers flying across the air, smoke coming out from their burnt bodies.
"All you need do is ask, if it's within my power to grant, I shall make it happen child'' Lord Perseus whispered through the winds.
I smiled as I continued charging and jumped through the debris of the now obliterated gates. The Myrmidons were first to enter the city, with my Spartans right on their heels all looking eager to start killing.
All around me I heard shouts from Roman Archers, all of them screaming in fear.
'Their Gods are with them!'
'What hope do we have against Gods?'
'Why doesn't Mars answer our prayers?!'
Was all I heard as I let lose a mighty roar before launching myself at the nearest Roman soldier. 'For Our Gods!' I shouted as my spear pierced the soldier's neck.
I blocked a sword strike from the Roman beside the one I just killed before jumping back and sticking my spear tip through the Roman's armor. I then ducked and spun around sticking my spear again through another Roman that tried sneaking up on me.
By this time, My Spartans have formed a wall of shields and were pushing the Romans back, killing droves of Roman soldiers in the process. Screams of pain and the smell of death tainted the air. Th Myrmidons were on the opposite side of my Spartans, also pushing the Romans back through the parallel street.
I continued to watch the Myrmidons at work, impressed at their level of skill, efficiency and endurance as hordes of Romans tried to push against the mighty Wall of the Myrmidon Shields. They even threw themselves at the mighty wall, but they didn't even slow them down! The Myrmidons kept pushing, with their usual chant. 'For Achilles, For Achilles' and 'Long live Achilles' It was quite mesmerizing.
So mesmerizing in fact that I almost got myself decapitated. I ducked and spun around before embedding my spear through the Roman's stomach and poking out through his spine. I smiled in satisfaction before I withdrew my spear and kicked him away from me.
I then charged through the masses of Greeks as they pushed forward. On my way to the Spartan lines, I saw Greek archers climbing buildings and setting up positions to send deadly volleys of arrows to rain down upon the Roman scum. I smiled as Greeks parted before me, allowing me to the Spartan lines in record time.
'Alright men, push forward! I want to be at the inner palace before night comes upon us!' I yelled as I joined the front lines, placing my shield in front of me and pushing the Romans who ran against my shield.
I then brought my shield up, pushing the Romans away from me and raising my spear to my waist and stabbing forward, piercing the heart of the Roman soldier in front of me, then quickly taking out my spear and driving it through the throat of another Roman before withdrawing my spear and bringing up my shield just in time to block a Roman soldier as it tried to impale me with his sword.
With each push, we drove forward, pushing the Romans back, towards the palace near the center of the City. I smiled as half an hour later, the palace came into view. I was even more pleased to see the Myrmidons on the opposite side of us. The streets my Spartans and the Myrmidons were on ran parallel to each other, ending in the Front Gates of the Palace.
I gave the Myrmidon General a nod, signaling for him to push forward alongside me. I then turned my attention back to the Palace grounds and saw around 500 Roman soldiers with shields raised and spears out. I smiled and stabbed my spear against the ground, then withdrew my sword and stabbed it hard against the ground.
Behind the Roman lines, Skeletons of fallen soldiers began ripping out of the ground, their bones being dark with dirt raining out of their stomachs. The first one out gave a roar before whipping out a sword and charging the rear flanks of the Romans. I laughed as Romans began screaming in absolute fear as Skeletons came out of the ground in hordes, causing a rush of fear and chaos as Romans turned around to face the new threat.
I turned to my Spartans and the Myrmidon General and nodded before sheathing my sword and grasping my spear back. I them bellowed a mighty roar before charging through the street towards the palace grounds. I swung my spear and watched as the sharp tip of it slashed the throat of a Roman.
Thank you Lord Osiris for adopting me and giving me our blessing! I thought in joy as the Skeletons kept pushing the Romans straight towards us, whom destroyed them. Left and right, Romans fell to Greek blades, Spears and sometimes Arrows as the Greek army finished off what was left of the Roman forces in the Palace.
Once done, I turned to the Myrmidon General who was right beside me. 'I want you to send out groups around the entire city. I want to control everything. Check every home, every building and every hole, if there are still Romans alive, then take them prisoner unless they continue to fight' I ordered.
The General nodded before racing off, bellowing orders to different officers. I then turned to my own General, who was looking eager for more Romans to kill.
'Aiolos, come with me. We are going to capture the ruling family of this City. With them in custody, taking the rest of the city will be much easier' I said before charging forward, shield raised and spear in hand, ready for use.
I slowed down to a slow march, shield up as I entered the palace. I looked behind me and gave the Spartans behind me the signal to spread out and search the entire Palace.
'Not even the servants are to leave this palace until we have the entire Ruling Family in custody' I ordered as I took off towards the stairs with 10 Spartans behind me.
I charged up the stairs and kicked down the first door on my left. I doubted the ruling family would hide on the first room at the stairs but I did find 3 servants. I nodded to 3 of my men whom led the 3 women down the stairs towards the small encampment at the bottom of the stairs where even more soldiers started setting up guard.
I left the room and went to the next room. This went on for a little over an hour before we finally found the Ruling Family. They were trying to run off towards an Escape Tunnel. I smiled as I looked down at our new prisoners.
I turned towards some commotion behind me and saw Lord Priam coming up to me on his horse.
'My lord, We have taken over 90% of the city! Soon we shall have complete control over it. We have also captured the Ruling Family' I reported to Priam who looked pleased.
'Very good Lord Leonidas. I will report our success to Lord Perseus. I'm sure he already knows but he may have some news for us from the Egyptian Forces' Priam said before giving me a nod and galloping off.
I smiled. He never called me Lord. It has always been just Leonidas. I didn't mind that however, since he is a personal friend of mine. I turned and went to our makeshift barracks, where Roman prisoners were being dragged by Greek soldiers.
This is just the beginning. One city down, about 20 more to go with a hundred or more villages.
Third Person POV
Perseus was very happy that the Greeks were able to successfully sack the Roman city of Romania. Even more so when he found that they barely suffered any casualties.
'My Lord, what is your will?' Lord Priam asked from the center of the Throne Room.
I smiled. 'Lord Priam. We didn't just flash you here to get a report from you. We flashed you here to promote you' Perseus spoke from his magnificent throne.
Lord Priam looked nervous and surprised. 'My lord?' He asked.
Perseus smiled again. 'It has come to our attention that all Greeks are still somewhat distant from each other. In order to bring the wrath of Greece down upon the Romans, we must have unity' Perseus spoke before silence enveloped the room.
'So we, The Persian Council, have agreed that we need one ruler. A ruler that will rule over Greece as a whole. A ruler that will be just, kind, honorable, and strong. A ruler that will enforce our laws and bring not only victory to Greece, but also peace and prosperity' Seshat continued.
'As such, we have agreed to crown you, Emperor of Greece. You will follow our will as you already do. You shall be the ruler of its armies, and protector of its lands. If you believe you can do this, the title is yours' Thetis said.
Perseus nodded. 'So what say you, Lord Priam?' Perseus asked.
Lord Priam stood there shellshocked and rigid for he could not believe what he was hearing. The Gods wanted him to rule over Greece? How could the Gods have so much faith in him?
'But my lords, I am not worthy of such a title. I lost Troy, Tried to kill Lord Achilles. Yet you still wish for me to rule over Greece?' Lord Priam asked still in shock.
Perseus smiled as did the entire Council. 'That is precisely why we wish for you to rule. You are a good man, and a great ruler. What happened in the past in Troy is in the past, plus, Achilles here has obviously forgiven you already since he gave you the Myrmidons' Perseus said respectfully.
Priam looked thoughtfully at the King Of The Gods before bowing his head. 'If you wish for me to rule over Greece and lead it's Armies, then I accept. However, won't the Kings of Greece fight against this?' Priam asked nervously.
Perseus chuckled lightly. 'We ourself, are going to announce it in front of the entire Army. They won't dare challenge us, nor will they challenge you for we will watch over you and your family' Perseus replied calmly.
Lord Priam looked relieved to hear this and nodded his head. 'Very well my lord. When shall you announce it?' Priam asked curiously.
Perseus smiled. 'Right now!' He said before flashing himself and Priam down to Romania where the entire Greek Armies were.
All Greeks kneeled before the mighty Gods, all saying 'My Lords and Ladies' as they walked past them with Priam in their midst. Many looked curiously at Lord Priam but none dared challenge him or even utter a single word.
Before long, they stopped at a raised platform where all of the Greek Kings stood, all of them bowing respectfully towards the Gods.
'Greetings my fellow Greeks!' Perseus spoke clearly and loud enough for all to hear.
'We are here to make a certain change that is necessary to the defeat of Rome' Perseus said before pausing for extra effect.
'We have decided to name an Emperor who will be the sole voice of Greece. The said Emperor will rule over all of Greece, no King or lord shall have higher power than the Emperor. This Emperor will lead Greece to a new age. To victory against Rome, and peace and prosperity for the Emperor shall have the blessings of the Persian Council' Perseus said before pausing to let the information sink in.
Priam looked nervous while King Leonidas was looking at Priam Proudly as a smile formed on his lips. Other Greek kings were looking a bit angry at this but none dared challenge King Perseus.
'We, The Persian Council, have chosen King Priam as the first Emperor of Greece! All hail Emperor Priam, ruler of Greece!' Perseus shouted as Priam stepped forward in a proud manner, but on the inside he was nervous.
In a matter of seconds, the entire Greek Army erupted in cheers shouting 'Long live the Emperor!' while many Kings were glaring at Priam. Heron then stepped forward, holding a beautiful crown that had the Persian Council's symbol. It was made out of pure gold and had a Diamond outlining around the edges of the crown. It also had a beautiful Gem in the front on the center that glowed a bright light, white in color.
'We present you with your crown. It has been blessed by the entire council, and will only work for the Emperor that we, The Persian Council, appoint. With this crown, you shall have some control over each element and be able to call forth Skeleton warriors, and you will be able to contact the Persian Council whenever you wish, all you have to do is touch the Gem and we will hear you' Perseus said.
Lord Priam bowed his head as Lord Heron lowered the crown upon his head. As soon as the Crown made contact with Priam's head, it glowed extremely brightly, causing everyone to cover their eyes. When the light died down, Priam stood feeling stronger as power and energy flowed through his body.
Emperor Priam kneeled before the Persian Council and swore an Oath of fealty to the Gods that way he will never be able to turn on them. Once he finished the oath, Perseus beckoned every King over, telling them to swear fealty to Emperor Priam.
Leonidas was the first, stepping forward proudly before kneeling before Emperor Priam with a smile on his face as he swore his oath. Every King soon followed, and in about 40 minutes, all the kings had sworn fealty.
And so began the rule of Emperor Priam, the first Greek Emperor, ruler of Greece and Protector of its lands!
END OF CHAPTER.
