bottled up
One of Shisui's favorite things about Itachi is how good he is at listening. Shisui always wears his heart on his sleeve, and he could come home upset, toss his backpack on the couch and then himself, then tell Itachi what was on his mind. Itachi, usually in the kitchen cooking up something delicious, would listen without interruption. Then, when Shisui was finished, Itachi would always think for a while before answering. Shisui is always impressed by the clarity and depth of Itachi's advice, despite Itachi being three years younger, and often depends on it. Itachi has taught Shisui the value of allowing oneself to be upset despite admitting one is wrong. He has taught Shisui that people often weren't out to purposefully hurt you. Shisui is grateful for that.
Itachi, however, is a quiet sufferer. If something bothers him, he will usually bottle it up. It has taken a long time for Shisui to learn to read the signals that means Itachi is upset and wants to talk. It has taken him even longer to make Itachi understand that he doesn't have to wait for Shisui to ask him what is wrong before telling him. Shisui is the only person to whom Itachi goes for advice and support in that way. Shisui knows, and treats it like one of the most valuable things he had, as it was.
