L O G A N

Today is our free day as well as the day we would all go back to school work. The trip has been fun, except when Ayo tried to run away from the girls trying to hit on him and ran towards me instead, which resulted in the girls noticing me and I joining the fun of running away. Note the sarcasm.

I decided to take a walk because I was not feeling so well. The air smelt bad, as if something was about to happen...I shook the thought off and wore my jacket and vans.

"Where are you going?" Ayo asked, looking up from the guitar he was tuning.

"Taking a walk." I replied. He dropped his acoustic guitar and picked up his black hoodie with funny cat ears (don't ask me, I also wonder why a seventeen year old wears that) and wore his jordan sweatpants and matching jogging shoes.

"Let's go together." He said.

We grabbed our phones and headed out, only to be met by the others also heading out so we decided to join the wandering party. We originally wanted to walk around the hotel premises and fool around but one way or the other, we found ourselves in the neighborhood strolling along side walks and chattering like birds, well all of us except Scarlet, Ayo and I.

While we walked about I saw a house at the end of a street. The house was huge, no doubt, heck it could be called a mansion but it was barricaded by police tapes saying do not cross. The tapes were old and torn and the house itself looked like it had been abandoned for years. Something in me rang loudly to turn back and catch up with my friends who I have strayed away from but another thing in me drew me closer to this house...no mansion.

I don't know, for some reason this house triggers a part of my memory that I didn't know was there. It was as if a voice was calling me from that mansion; a low and soft voice which soon turned into voices. I sent Ayo a quick text to tell him where I was before I wandered into the mansion.

"♪The moon is shining in the sky, such a beautiful night...♪"

A voice sang in my head, it was a feminine and sweet voice to hear.

"♪The owl is flying in the sky when you're sleeping at night...♪"

It continued to sing its soft lullaby as I ventured farther in the house.

"The bogeyman is going to get you!"

A woman screamed playfully in my memories and chased after a young boy with brown hair and mismatched green and blue eyes...a younger me?! Who is she?! Mother? Father never told me about mother. Anytime I asked I was in for deep trouble. I never did remember her at all but here I am having strange visions about my mother and I running around this mansion.

I walked around the dusty mansion and climbed the rusty stairs up to the second storey to view the rooms up there which, by the way, were HUGE! A room was bigger than my whole studio apartment with some closet space to spare. I closed the door (I wonder why I did that though) and went into another room in that house...er mansion. I'm not kidding but my legs hurt from exploring the mansion and my head hurts from the sudden influx of memories. I don't know why this house triggered them but if I can just remember how my mom looked like, I would put up with it. I opened the faded blue door and walked inside the room.

I winced as a migraine wave hit me but I weathered through it and looked around the room. It looked like a child's room from the design of the wall paint and the bed size. Looking around, I looked down and saw dried blood on the floor and chalk marks that showed the outline of two people who were probably dead. The chalk marks were most likely done by detectives. I gulped down some bile as beads of cold sweat ran down my head, why do I have the feeling that my father was involved in this?

I wanted to leave the room because the migraine was getting to me but my legs gave way beneath me and I collapsed. As I was about to stand back up, I saw a sheet of paper under the small bed frame and I stretched out to pick it up only to see that it was a picture.

Logan...

My heart rate picked up and my breath dramatically hitched when I saw the picture of my...younger self and my mother. The picture was ripped but I could tell that another person was in that picture, my father perhaps. This place was MY house, I used to live here with my Mother...these chalk outlines, don't tell me he actually...

Only you, Logan...

The voice in my head spoke up again and I had to leave the room otherwise I'd faint from overwhelming emotions so I tucked the picture safely in my back pocket and went downstairs to explore more. My eyes caught a line in the wall behind the huge painted canvas that was in the room before I left, however.

Now I am wondering how I missed such a huge painting but I clearly missed it. My instinct told me to feel the painting, which I did only for me push a hand sized button I never knew existed in the painting. Like I was in some movie, the canvas pushed back and slid to reveal a secret base.

Marvelled by the mystery I was unravelling, I stepped inside and looked around to see what was in it. It appeared to be a safe of the sorts because at the very far end of the secret room stood a box with a safe lock on it. The room itself was heavily guarded by invisible light triggers that were designed to lock whosoever enters the place and triggers them. I am not about to spend half my day in a safe.

Only you, Logan, only you can...

The voice disappears and I turned to see a fingerprint scanner. Pushing my luck, I placed my palm on the pad and it glowed green, giving me access to the place much to my surprise and dispelling the lasers. I walked towards the box, which made me scan my fingerprints again and this time my eyes. It was ultimately guarded with a pass code so I could not open it.

What could be inside this safe? How could I access this place? Is that woman in the picture really my mother? If so why didn't father tell me anything?

Lots of questions ran through my mind and the voices in my head weren't helping my headache. As if by magic, the ache stopped and my heart beat increased drastically as I heard a voice behind me, a voice I never wanted to hear again, a voice that belonged to the person I wanted to stay away from the most.

"Found you."

My heart was at the nape of my neck when a figure stepped into the secret safe. It didn't take a genius to recognize the signature black face mask with designs of a snake and the golden eye contacts which masked his identity, leaving him unspotted by the police and giving him flawless escape each time he strikes. He found me, Maru found me.

"F-father..." I found it very difficult to make words as he walked towards me with painfully slow gait. He smirked triumphantly through his mask, something I could see in his eyes, and removed a pocket knife from his pocket.

"Aww is the game over already?" He asked with a sadistically happy tone to mock my pathetic attempts to hide from him. "I told you that I would find you, didn't I? Now what should I do to you for running away?" He pretended to think and I used that opportunity to bring out my phone from behind me and text Ayo not to come here again.

Too late.

My heart failed as I heard voices at the door and sure enough, the whole clique were there. Most of their faces morphed into faces of absolute horror and fear once they recognized the man that stood before them.

"M-Maru!" Shelka stuttered.

"Logan!" Most of them screamed.

I could feel father's mischievous smile from beneath his mask as he turned to look at them.

"Oh, friends? How amusing." He sneered. Today is the worst day of my life, I shouldn't have left the hotel premises.

"I hope you all are taking good care of my son." He emphasized the my in the sentence to make them realize his point. Sure enough, their faces other than Ayo and Scarlet's read shock and confusion. "You didn't tell them? Oh they can't see your eyes because of the contacts you are wearing. Come on show them your beautiful mismatched eyes."

Their faces were now of pure confusion and total fear. I knew they would find out sooner or later but I didn't expect that they would find out this way. Ayo dialed a number on his phone once he noticed that there was an ulterior motive hidden in father's action and showed the screen to father.

"I have called the police and I have recorded everything that happened here so don't think of trying anything funny." Ayo threatened. I am sure he knows that his threat doesn't have any effect on father so why does he bother? Father just chuckled amusingly and twirled the knife expertly in his hands before slipping it back into his pocket.

"Well, I guess I would leave for now. Make sure you behave and be a good boy, Logan." Maru sneered and went out of the door. The others stayed clear off the way and avoided eye contact as he passed by. The breaths they held were released and they all turned to look at me with malicious and suspicious eyes. It was so much that I gulped at the coldness of their glares. I knew it would come to this, I just knew it.

"I-is it t-true?" Shelia's stuttering voice broke the thick silence that filled the air. My head hung in shame. I wish I could say no and change my identity but it was impossible, I am the son of  murderer. I reached up and slowly removed my contact lenses and watched as their breaths hitched and their gazes turned cold at me, except Ayo who knew already and Scarlet, whose face was unreadable.

Shelia gasped and fell back, her legs finally giving in to the shock. If I say that her reaction didn't hurt, I'll be the greatest liar on earth but I couldn't blame her or anybody in this room. I just wanted them to understand, to see me for who I am and not my father, I stretched my hand to reach out to them but they moved back as if I had leprosy.

"What are you? Are you here to spy on us for your father?'

"No, I..." I tried to defend myself.

"You've been drawing information on us and planning who your next target is along with your father, right?"

"Please listen..." Nothing I said made them listen or stop their accusations. Scarlet suddenly hissed and swung at me, planting her strong fist into my jaw so hard that I toppled over and fell. Ayo held her back in time to keep her from assaulting me but I could hear the sound of a police siren outside, only to find out that April had called the police on me. I was apprehended once again without cause and I don't know whether it was because this came from my friends but I felt tears slipping down my face as I was cuffed.

He ruined me...again.
