PROLOGUE

After my dad left I went with him for a while, until I was offered a job in the CIA. I loved working for the BAU but after everything that had happened I had decided to leave. But today would change everything. I was sat at my desk at work when I received a phone call from Penelope "hey P, what's up trying to find cyber criminals" i said with a little chuckle but there was a moment of silence which worried me. "Haley's dead" Penelope said which made me drop everything and just freeze. For a while a serial killer voyet had been threatening Hotch and his family so Jack and Haley moved away for protection.

"What happened, is Jack ok?" I said trying to hold back my tears because of my dad and Hotchs careers I often spent time at Hotch and Haley's house, along with my dad and Hotch Haley pretty much raised me and she pretty much became my mother "Jack is ok? Hotch stopped him before he could get to Jack but they both need you Jane, I think we all do?" Penelope said as I sat there still in shock and annoyed that the fact they didn't tell me voyet was closing in I felt as if I could have helped.

"Ok I'll get the next flight out?" I said before cutting off the call before gathering all my electronics and headed out of the room. As I walked across the hall I held my breathe to calm myself down before I reached the door of my bosses office so I stood there before knocking on the door. I stood there for a few moments before I heard "come in?" Before I opened the door and walked in. "Agent Gideon how can I help you?" My boss asked as he looked at me and the expression on my face.

"I need to head back to Virginia something happened and I need to be with my family right now" I said trying to hold back the tears "I heard of the death of Agent Hotchners ex wife, and that you were very close" my boss said which made me close my eyes and take a deep breathe. I was glad that I didn't need to explain what happened because I knew that would make me cry. "Take all the time you need Agent Gideon family is important, we will only contact you if we desperately need you" my boss said with a smile trying to make me less uncomfortable.

After I headed out of the building I headed back to my apartment before gathering as much clothes as I could get into my bag because I didn't know how long I was going to be away, as well as anything else I would need before grabbing my passport from my bedside draw. And heading straight to the airport and checking in as I sat down I pulled my phone from my pocket and texted Penelope "I'm at the airport just checked in I'll be there don't tell Hotch I'm coming" I texted before grabbing some food before I headed to the plane.
