Half an hour later~

Treasured Friend,

Sorry I had to leave like that, dad was finally able to see me. Living as a hostage, he had received lots of injuries that need looked at.

Anyway Blake, dad and I escaped the shed and stealthy crept around the house.

"Anne, is it safe for you to go back inside?"

I had considered this. Was it safe? Would I be caught again? Did Stan know I was put in the shed? Could I pull off being a devestated teen who's mom just got engaged now that I knew so much?

"Yes. Someone has to give her the shot and you two are out of the question." I said with determination.

Dad and Blake exchanged looks.

"Act like you are ok with their engagement. Give mom a hug and congratulate her. While you hug her, give her a shot in her hip. It will go directly into her blood stream and should heal her. Tell her to act dumb. she's safer if she plays along. We will back you up."

I nodded and off I went before I could back out. As I opened the door I could hear mom giggling.

She didn't even miss me! No, remember to keep calm, be happy for her!

Following the voices I found myself in the kitchen. It looked as though nothing had happened since I'd left.

"Mom!"

Mom turned and looked at me, still smiling like a fool.

"I'm sorry I didn't understand. You need to be happy. I want to congratulate you!"

Mom said nothing, Stan on the other hand did.

"Why, it's our little snoop. Shouldn't you be somewhere else?"

They did know! My heart dropped and I just stood there.

"I suppose that is an early wedding present behind your back." He said with a smirk.

He knows! He knows everything!

At that moment, I saw Blake creep in the back door with a gun. I decided to stall and said the first thing that came to mind.

"Dinnae teach yer granny Tae suck eggs."

I got the effect I wanted, utter confusion. As I continued, I silently thanked William for teaching me some of his favorite sayings. Out of the corner of my eye I think I saw Blake give a slight smile.

"I'm fair puckled and Am pure nick."

Blake was closer and closer. One more phrase and this could all be over.

"Lang may ye lum reek!"

That did it! Blake stepped up behind Stan and knocked him over the head with the end of his gun. I quickly gave mom the shot and watched as her eyes flashed and she came back to reality. Blake searched the house while dad came inside.

"Rick!" Mom exclaimed!
"Ruth!"

They had a tearful reunion and they had not let go of each other even after the L.O.M.P squad cars had shown up minutes later. Stan was arrested along with four other men.

So here we are, my mom is in the hospital room with dad (who is healing nicely) Blake is here beside me reading a magazine, still being my protector I see. Oh and that photo that dad so bravely protected? He had  found a family of Nessies. Turns out the skin of the Loch Ness Monster cooked with the horn of a Unicorn can give you immortality! That's what dad believes they were after.

Dad said something else to me when I went in to see him. It opened my eyes and I want to share it with you.

"I've traveled to foreign lands, seeking adventure, when really I've missed the best adventures that was here all along."

I too, have know what it's like to get caught up in the thrill of an adventure.-
