N I N E
I held my neck and moved my hand around the mark that man left yesterday. It hurts to even move my neck around. I wanted to go to school just to get out but no one let me. So here I am sitting in mom and dad's room. I am not scared anymore but mom said she is going to visit dad in the hospital so I should stay there instead of my room as if this will make me safe. But I didn't protest if that's what makes her feel secure about my safety. Dad got hit on the head and he lost too much of blood so he was advised to get admitted though he will be back in a day or two at most.
I got up from the bed holding my neck as if it will fall down if I left. I walked towards the balcony and breathed the fresh air inside me. The weather was kind of clear today with just a few clouds in the sky but still, I could see the blue sky in between which I missed seeing. The trees and plants were shining in the dim sunlight as the butterflies roamed happily from flower to flower. It made me feel pleased for some reason. I was glad for the encounter I had yesterday with the killer because it kind of took away the fear from me. I feel more confident and most importantly now cops will take us seriously. So there is some kind of security I felt but I don't know until when it will last as the words said by that man echoed in my head. He will kill me sooner or later! I let out a sigh and looked ahead at the mountain. They looked happy today at the brightness of the sun hit them.
I looked back when I heard the door flung open. Aiden looked around the room until his gaze stopped at me. I gave him a pout as his blue eyes held concern and fear. He was in his school uniform. His hairs were dishevelled and messy. He was patting a little. He adjusted his tie and let it lose as he started walking in my direction. I was just waiting for him to come because I knew he would rush to me as soon as he will know about yesterday night. I heard mom talking to his family early in the morning about the incident besides now all kinds of news and their indefinite versions will spread like a wildfire around the town and even in neighbouring towns. I let out a sigh and walked towards him when he came hurriedly and grabbed me in his arms. I held him tight by throwing my arms around him. The tears started flowing again from my eyes as I left a sob being in his arms. Aiden held me tightly by one arm while another moved from my hair.
"I was so scared. I thought I might..." I was saying when a sob left my mouth. His school jacket was getting drenched with my tears but I didn't care. All I wanted was to stay close to him.
"Shhh..." he said and pulled away, "I am sorry. I didn't keep my promise." The guilt was visible on his face. I shook my head a little.
"It's not your fault," I said with a smile and brushed off the tears which gathered in his eyes. Aiden held my hand in his and pecked on it.
"I am sorry for going out of the way and tell everything to your dad," he said further looking down at our hands, "I didn't mean to betray you but I was scared something like this might happen. That's why..." he was saying when I cut him off.
"I know. It's okay," I said with a smile. I knew why he did what he did but I still doubted him. I felt disgusted by myself. I shook those thoughts away and focused on the guilty boy in front of me, "You were just worried," I said with assurance. Aiden stayed the same as he let out a sigh.
I engulfed him in a tight hug yet again resting my head over his chest. He caressed me by moving his hand around my hair. It felt good as a smile involuntarily formed on my lips.
The flashes from the yesterday yet again started to fill me as the weather outside changed suddenly making everything dark yet again. I shivered when I remembered that person and his creepy wicked smile. His words started ringing in my head again and again. He said someone told him about my whereabouts and that he promised he won't hurt me to someone. Why? Who is it?
I shivered unknowingly still being in Aiden's arms because that's the most secured place for me at the moment. I know he won't let anything happen to me. Aiden held me tighter and closer to him without saying a word.
"Aiden," I started in a low voice and just hoping he won't get offended this time around.
"Hmm?" he was playing with my hair by now which he has been doing for years. I chuckled unknowingly.
"Can I ask you something?" I asked and looked up at him. He was looking down at me with his eyes holding some questions and doubt as to what I will be asking. I went ahead and moved a little away from him so I could face him and look into those blue orbs. I wanted to assure them that I don't doubt him, never have and never will again. I spoke again after a few moments, "Just don't be mad, please?"
"Go ahead," Aiden said letting out a sigh as he carefully looked at the mark around my neck. He put his hand up as he held my chin and moved my face to the side to take a close look. I saw him gritting his teeth as his posture became harder.
"It's about something that man said yesterday," I said looking at him carefully. He moved his gaze from my neck mark to my eyes again and stood straight giving me his full attention.
"He said that a little birdie told him that I have been still working to solve that mystery," I said and stopped getting confused, "But..."
"But no one apart from you, Edmund and Emily knew about my whereabouts and what are we up to," I said my exact doubt to him. Aiden let out a sigh.
"I don't understand," I said shaking my head with frustration.
"Mr and Mrs Moore knew about it," Aiden said in a low voice. I frowned looking up at him as he again let out a sigh and went ahead, "Besides he might have kept an eye on you, Faith. That's what you feared, right?" he asked and I nodded my head a little.
"That he is watching you," he said again. That's right! I was worried that someone might be following me and he indeed was following me? But I didn't see anything suspicious.
"If he can get to your window and inside the house then finding of your whereabouts would be the easiest task," Aiden said again and I couldn't agree more. I let out a sigh.
"He said he will be back to kill me," I said and made my way towards the bed to get seated.
"He won't..." Aiden said and kneeled before me keeping his hands on my thighs and holding my hand in his, "Just..." he said and looked down. I was broken by hearing the brokenness of his voice. I moved my one hand over his cheek.
"Don't doubt me," He said and looked up at me. His eyes were slightly moist, "I won't hurt you ever," he finished looking straight into my eyes. I knew he won't hurt me but I don't know why I said those words. I felt myself tearing a little by looking at him like this.
"I don't doubt you," I said and moved to sit on the front of him on the ground, "None of us do."
"Forget me..." I said and wiped his moist eyes and pecked on his cheek lightly, "But Edmund and Emily fought for you with Rose." Aiden gave me a look to which I narrowed my eyes at him.
"Edmund fought with Rose? That too for me?" he asked being dramatic to which I gave him a glare making him chuckle.
"Yes, jerk," We looked to the door to see Emily and Edmund looking down at us with smiles. Again these two were in their school uniforms stating they bunked today as well. That too for me. I smiled along with them just being grateful for having these three in my life and making it complete. Edmund came ahead as we got up from the ground, "I have to as no one points finger at my best friend." We all chuckled and looked at Aiden who looked awkward.
"The next time she does the same... She better be ready for the breakup," Edmund said again and put his hand over Aiden's shoulder. Aiden gave him a full smile after days of their fight and held Edmund's hand resting on his shoulder.
In the meantime, Emily rushed to my side giving a concerned look as she watched at my mark on the neck. She moved the strands of my hair aside. I gave her an assuring smile as she hugged me tightly.
"I am sorry, man," Aiden said with a guilty face as he went on, "I was just fucked up."
"Why?" Emily asked leaving me and widened her arms gesturing at Aiden who chuckled and hugged her tight making her chuckle. I and Edmund smiled looking at them. It feels so good to see us together again.
"I am just sticking with Tyler because I want to confirm something," Aiden said pulling back and looking at the ground.
"Like what?" I asked with crooked eyebrows.
"I will tell the rest after it's been confirmed," he said making me roll my eyes.
"You doubt Tyler?" Edmund asked. Aiden shook his head slightly.
"Someone who I can watch over by sticking to him," Aiden said. I don't know anyone related to Tyler so I couldn't guess. But I am not surprised if someone related to him is doing this shit. They all are the same.
"What made you doubt that person?" Emily asked. I moved my hand to the neck and whined. It was burning with pain. The three people threw concerned looks and asked me to sit on the bed letting them settle around me. Gosh! They are acting as if I got stabbed. But I like the extra attention so I am not complaining.
"I saw him with Dad after Doppler was killed. He looked wasted and scared to the death," Aiden said letting out a small sigh. We looked at him with all attention.
"That's why I followed him for a few days but got nothing so I decided to be-friend Tyler so I could watch him closely," Aiden finished as we nodded at him. Now we know the real thing. Well, not the whole but we will get there. Other time, we can continue with our theory if he wants to join us.
"Why was he with your dad?" I asked as he frowned at me.
"I don't know," he said and narrowed down his eyes at me as he spoke further, "I know you still doubt my parents and me but at least don't make it obvious." I chuckled and so did Edmund and Emily.
"Okay. I won't," I said and held his arm tight, "Just stay with me then." Aiden chuckled and pecked on my head. Emily awed while Edmund chuckled and shook his head looking at us.
"People, just keep that PDA out," Emily said, "I love you both but I don't like the cheesiness."
We all started laughing at her comment as I moved aside and hugged her tight.
"It feels good to see everything getting back to normal," I said with a wide smile as Edmund ruffled my hair. But the wide smile didn't last long as in an attempt to hug Emily I moved my neck fast making it hurt. Aiden shook his head in disappointment looking at my whining state while Emily tried to comfort me along with Edmund.
"I am happiest to see the house full today," Mom said entering the room. We all smiled looking back at her.
"How are you doing, Mrs Anderson? And what about Mr Anderson?" Aiden asked as soon as she came near us.
"I am fine. Gladly didn't get hit much," she said putting a smile, "Her dad got hit a bit but he is doing fine now."
"Shouldn't we take him to the city?" Edmund asked with concern. She chuckled making me feel easy. That means dad is doing really fine.
"Don't worry. It's not that bad," she said.
"Tell me if you need anything," Aiden said making me smile along with mom.
"Us," Emily jumped in with a big frown looking at Aiden.
"Yes, us," he said with a plain face correcting himself. Emily smiled. We chuckled to that.
"Okay, I will," Mom said.
"I am sad that you had to bunk the school but I am happy that I don't have to worry about her being alone here," she said again.
"Don't worry. We will stay with her," Edmund assured her.
"Thank you," she said and looked at the clock.
"I will send something to eat and then leave to stay by her dad's side," she said and started walking out of the room.
"Mom, you take rest too," I said with concern. She says she didn't get hit much but she still has a scar wrapped in band-aid on her head. We are resting so she should too.
"She is right," Emily said with concern. Mom smiled looking at us.
"I will after I go to the hospital," she said as we just nodded at her. That's what we can do after all at the stubbornness of my mother.
************
We moved to my room as no matter what, I feel the most comfortable being here. Mom sent too many items for us to eat but the plates got empty in no time. Edmund and Aiden were settled on the couch as they chatted about something. I wonder how did they get along in no time. But whatever it is, it's good. I don't understand how Aiden changed all of sudden? Did I getting attack hurt him that much that he thought of changing his ways? If that's the thing then I am happiest. I hope that's the only thing and there is nothing more.
"What are you thinking?" Emily snapped her fingers before me. I moved my gaze to her absent-mindedly. It took me a few good minutes to register what she asked me.
"Nothing, just thinking about how everything got back to normal in no time," I said shaking my head a little, "Us. Being together."
"It's good, no?" She asked studying my face carefully. I don't know how to put it out. I don't doubt Aiden and his intentions but I just don't feel it right. Maybe the events happened recently have screwed my mind but I just can't think straight.
"Hmm..."
"What is it?" Emily asked again. The worry was visible this time on her face as she looked back at me. I was trying hard to hide any kind of emotions. I guess I'll clear my mind soon enough before I mess up anything again. This Mrs Wittnakar chapter will end my doubts and suspicions for sure. That's why I want to go there but I don't know how. Especially, the thing happened yesterday have just added to everything which was already screwed up because of this guy, Aiden.
"Nothing. Really," I said with a gentle smile and looked to the side as I felt some gaze on me. I was right. Both the boys were looking at me.
"Faith, are you still going to continue with your plan?" Edmund asked. I looked at Aiden involuntarily but he was blank. He knew what I will say. At least, that's what his face told me. I let out a sigh.
"I guess," I said with a shake of my head, "I don't want to stop."
"Girl, you got attacked," Emily said her concerns. She is right as well but what's the point of stopping now? He will be coming back hunting down to kill me sooner or later as he has said.
"As that person said, he is going to come after me again so what's the point in stopping? It's better if we get to him before he comes back again, right?" I said with a shrug. I saw Aiden looking out of the window being utterly disappointed in me. But what else can I do?
I know mom and dad will be equally disappointed in me when they will know about my plan. Edmund and Emily exchanged a look as well but didn't say anything. A few moments went in silence as I kept looking at my hands down.
"What is your plan?" Aiden broke the silence. I looked up at him who had his gaze fixed on me.
"Umm..."
"We are ... Going to follow Mrs Wittnakar," I said and looked at Edmund who didn't say anything and stayed quiet.
"She might not have anything to do with it," Aiden said quietly letting out a sigh. A frown took place on my face.
"Maybe but you said the person you are following is related to your dad and so is she," I said ready to start the debate. Aiden looked at me with unbelievable expressions.
"That has nothing to do with my dad. I am following because he looked suspicious," Aiden said looking frustrated yet again. Ok! I need to stay calm.
"She does too. She is acting weird since Mr Gracia. That's what Rose said," I said keeping the irritation out of my voice. Aiden closed his eyes briefly and looked out of the window. In the meantime, I exchanged looks with Edmund and Emily yet again who gestured me to take it easy with him. I nodded and looked at Aiden who still was looking outside.
The wind was hitting his face ruffling with his dark black hairs as they moved gently. His eyes were fixed on something outside. I guess he felt my gaze on him as he looked back at me. I didn't bother to move my gaze away and kept staring at him. Aiden let out a sigh.
"What if Rose has already informed her about your plan?" he asked calmly. That is one possibility for sure.
"I didn't tell her," Edmund said.
"But you asked her. What if she already knows about you people?" Aiden asked again.
"Then we are screwed," Emily said as I looked at her with crooked eyebrows. She shrugged her shoulders.
"Then? Do you have any other plan?" I asked looking back at Aiden who shook his head again.
"Do you really think that she has something to hide?" he asked. My frown deepened. Why is he defending her so much? But I stayed calm.
"What goes in trying?" I asked. Edmund nodded agreeing with me. Emily seemed to be in team Aiden it seems as she stayed quiet.
"What if you get caught?" Aiden asked again playing with my last nerve. I let out a sigh.
"Aiden, please," I said asking him to stop already. He let out a sigh keeping his firm gaze on me.
"I know her personally. I mean she works in the firm so have been to her house and know the ways to get inside without getting noticed. She has lessened the security a few months back because of some money issues so that won't be a problem. We just need to be careful about people around her house," He said again after some time was passed.
"Faith and I can go inside her house and Emily, Edmund you can follow her in that time," he said as we all nodded in understanding.
"The minute you feel that she is getting back to the house, inform us by calling on her landline from the nearest booth so we can get out before she comes," Aiden said looking at Edmund and Emily. They both nodded.
"Just remember, people, if we get caught then it's bound to get on the ears of my parents. If she is truly related then she won't let it slide. So act accordingly," Aiden said again with pained expressions. He surely is the one with a practical brain and I don't know how he is always patient with us. We three exchanged a look amongst ourselves and started smiling like a maniac. Aiden's frown deepened as he gave us all a glare.
"What?" he shouted with irritation.
"We are impressed," I said with a smirk. He rolled his eyes and shook his head gently.
"That's why I say, we need him," Emily said as Edmund gave her a look.
"You never said that," he said. Emily rolled her eyes.
"Well, I am saying now," she said making me chuckle. I saw Aiden getting a little serious as he looked at the clock and started getting up.
"Umm..." he said gaining attention from the remaining two, "I need to leave."
"Where are you going?" I asked and got up to face him. Aiden put his hand into the front pockets of his jeans.
"At Tyler's," he said making me frown again.
"Now?" I asked without changing my posture. Aiden nodded.
"Yes, he has asked me to come over by evening so I should get going now. I need to get changed as well," he said and gave me a small smile putting his hand on my cheek.
"Okay, bye," I said holding his same hand.
"Bye, take care. See you tomorrow at school," he said gave me a quick peck on lips. I chuckled looking at his smiling face. He moved away and looked past me.
"Bye guys," he said waving at Edmund and Emily who waved back at him with same wide smiles.
I let out a sigh once he was out of the room. I seriously need to follow him again and rest all of my doubts for once. I can't go on like this. That stupid Rose has polluted my mind and I need to solve this mystery for the peace of my mind more than anything else. I could have stopped but I have come too far to look back now. The killer is already after me so there is no point in stopping. I should keep running so he couldn't reach me. I need to solve this mess before he could find me again.
Edmund stayed until mom came. He took the leave saying his goodbyes and promising to meet tomorrow after school. I am again going to take off stating some reason as if I go to school then I wouldn't be able to go to Mrs Wittnakar as someone will come to pick me up and drop me. I will ask Aiden to come and pick me up as he is the only reliable person my mom and dad think of. Emily stayed back for the night. Her dad dropped her belongings at my house. I was happiest to have her as I have no intentions of sleeping in this room alone after yesterday.
Dad still hasn't back and will be staying for another day. Mom said someone close from the factory will stay with him for tonight. Emily, I and mom had our dinner talking about random things. There was some kind of haunted silence filled the entire house and the surrounding which made me feel scared but I didn't let it show much. The security around the area has been increased by Mr Moore this time and there are cops under my window to keep a close look which made me feel at ease but I am still half convinced. Mom excused herself as she was tired by running around since night handling my trauma and then dad forgetting her own scars. I don't think would ever be able to pay her debts as to what she did for me or is still doing without me being her own daughter. The love she has given me is unmeasurable. Even my own dad couldn't offer me the same amount ever.
As Emily and I were making our way up the room a helper informed me that I have a few guests. I gave him a confused look asking about who exactly would this late at night to which he said those are from Wright's place. I smiled and gave him a nod as I made my way towards the living room. I gave my widest smile to Mr and Mrs Wright. Mr Wright had his ever so favourite round black hat on his head. His glasses rested on his nose while his golden pocket watch was visible as it peeked from his grey coloured coat's pocket. He smiled under his thick moustache when he saw me coming but the shine in his eyes was missing. I could tell by looking at him that he might be having sleepless nights. The dark circles were visible around his eyes. He is one of the well known and reputed attorney and with latest events, it must be hard. He got up taking the help of his walking stick. Aiden was sitting on one of the couches.
"Sorry to bother you this late," Mrs Wright came forward to hug me tight. She was looking as delinquent as always except for just one thing, she was looking tired today. Her bun was all messy. Her ever so favourite red lipstick was gone making her lips nude. Her beautiful dress wasn't helping her distress state in any way. But her hug felt warm and it felt good to be in her embrace but the guilt surpassed me that I am actually doubting these two people and that won't make me have a good conversation with them but I need to try to put that doubt away. I just want this phase to end and everything to go back to normal again.
"That's fine," I said pulling away and giving her a big smile.
"We are pretty late to come here but how are you doing?" she asked making me sit on the couch beside her. Emily got seated on one of the chairs.
"It's ok even if you are late. That barely matters. I am happy that you came to meet me," I said truthfully. I understand that it much be tough for everyone at this time and I don't mind anything at all. As long as their son gives me his time I am happiest.
"And I am doing good," I said further making her chuckled. Mr Wright smiled wholeheartedly as well.
"How have you been?" I asked moving my gaze between them both.
"We are doing well too," Mr Wright said with the shake of his head, "Just been hectic since these events started happening." I nodded in understanding and looked at Aiden who wasn't looking at me anymore.
"Met your dad in the morning. He looked a mess," Mr Wright said again. I didn't say anything to that. I haven't met him yet neither have I gone out of this house.
"Mom went to sleep as she was tired," I said awkwardly not knowing what else to do. I have never been awkward with them but as I said my inner guild is just not letting me act freely.
"That's fine. Let her rest. We met her in the hospital already. Came to check on you," Mrs Wright said putting on a smile. I smiled and looking at them.
"But you forgot us as you have stopped coming over. Did he fight with you?" Mrs Wright asked gesturing towards Aiden who rolled his eyes making us chuckle.
"No. Of course not," I said shaking my head.
"Just because of the mess around, I didn't get much time lately," I said further, "But I will come over soon."
"Better," Mr Wright said and Mrs Wright smiled at me. They started asking Emily about her parents and about how she is doing lately. I drifted apart to my thoughts little by little forgetting about my surroundings. I honestly feel bad like I am the worst human being ever. Why am I doubting these two people? Because of that Mrs Wittnakar? Because of what Rose said? I know them since long time. I know them better and still, I got drown away with those words. I don't even want to face them anymore. I am ashamed of myself. I think this psycho is ruining every inch of my mind and I don't feel like myself anymore. Am I becoming the worst kind of person? Aiden is disappointed in me. I have put my own parents in danger, I feel like I am taking advantage of Edmund and Emily. I am doubting the people who were there for me through my growing years. What am I becoming?
"I am sorry," I said to my own surprise. Slight tears held my eyes as I kept my gaze down. I could feel the eyes on me but I had no courage to look up at them. The conversation they were having a moments ago got halted somewhere.
"For what?" Mrs Wright asked putting her hand on mine. The worry was visible in her voice.
"Just..." I managed to say putting out awkward laughter in between. Mrs and Mr Wright smiled at me when I looked up blinking the tears away from my eyes. Aiden looked concerned as he kept looking at me.
"Don't be," she said with her sweet smile as she went on, "Take care. I am glad to see Ms Moore staying with you for the night but call us any moment you feel scared. We will rush here as soon as possible." she finished giving me an assuring smile. I nodded my head at her with a small smile.
"Thank you," I just said that as she started getting up.
"We will take leave then," Mr Wright said adjusting his coat.
"Yes," I nodded at them with an apologetic smile. Emily held me from the side as she got me and so did Aiden but he didn't say anything. Instead, he just started walking with his parents making his way out of the house.
"Aiden, just a minute," I called him out as he looked back at me. I don't know why I called him but I just wanted to talk even just for a minute.
He walked towards me as his parents got out of the house with smiles lingering on their faces. He gave me a concerned look yet again.
"What is it? You okay?" he asked studying me. I chuckled and hugged him tight staying there for a moment or two before I pulled back. He was clueless about my gesture but didn't say anything.
"I am fine," I said with an assuring smile as he smiled back looking down at me.
"I don't know if what I am doing is right, Aiden and I truly feel so pathetic for..." I was saying when he cut me off.
"It's okay. Better to clear the doubt when we have one," he said taking me by surprise. He was fuming over the fact that I am doubting him and his family and the sudden mood of change was something new. Did that killer actually was of help? Wait! What am I even thinking?
"Else everything gets messed up. Things fall apart and people go away forever. A small doubt has the power to ruin everything you built over the years. So it's better that you are going ahead. I am sorry that I acted in a pretty impulsive way," Aiden said again getting a bit serious when I didn't say anything at all. I shook my head slightly in an attempt to tell him that he need not have to be sorry because if I was in his place then I don't know how I might have acted. But Aiden didn't let me speak and continued.
"We will know the reality sooner or later. Till then just do what you have to," he said and smiled a little. I nodded at him as he went ahead, "Don't worry about rest. We will take care of it."
"What happened to you all of sudden?" I asked narrowing my eyes as he smiled sweetly at me.
"Just..." he said with a shrug and continued further, "Thought of using philosophy somewhere," I chuckled along with Emily just when I remembered that she is still there in the room. I almost forgot about it. I let out a sigh at my own stupidity.
"About tomorrow... Can you pick me up when we have to go there? I am giving the school a miss," I said. Aiden nodded in agreement.
"Mom has already talked to them and they agreed," I said again.
"Okay, I will call you in the morning," he said and moved away making his way out as well.
"Bye then. Good night," I said waving back at him.
"And just give a call if anything. Doesn't matter what time it is," he said for the last time from the door. I smiled.
"Yes," I said with a nod as he vanished. I asked helpers to shut the door and lock it.
"You have got the best boyfriend girl. Don't doubt him. He loves you," Emily said when I turned around to move. I gave her an unbelievable look. Isn't she the same person who always had her doubts about Aiden?
"You changed your sides," I said raising my eyebrows at her. She chuckled and shrugged making me smile.
I and Emily made our way up in my room as the thoughts about tomorrow started surpassing me. I just hope everything goes well for us else we are really screwed. Emily was talking about some boy from the chemistry class who I don't know existed till now. Apparently, she has a huge crush on him and when everything gets over she is thinking of telling him. I smiled genuinely feeling happy for her.
Once in the room, Emily went through all of the cassette set I have in my room and started playing one after other when she found her favourites. The songs filled the silence of the room. I got settled at my favourite spot in the whole house. That is by the window on the couch. I spread my legs ahead and made myself comfortable on the couch as I rested my head on the cushion behind. Emily was singing the song sleeping on my bed. I looked outside in the dark. There was no wind today neither the rain but just silence. I could hear the low whispering voices of the cops who were sitting inside the garden so they could have a watch on my window. Emily turned off the lights making my room dark. The faint yellow light of the gasoline lamp spread in the room putting the shadows on the ceiling.
I kept looking up at them as the flashes from yesterday started playing in my head. No doubt that I am going to have a long night. I am scared of the nightmares. I just hope that I don't scare Emily with me.
"Do you still suspect them?" Emily asked in a lazy voice. She is seriously tired. I shook my head.
"I don't know but something doesn't feel right," I said moving my head to look out again.
"Like what? About them?" she asked getting confused. Even I don't know what is wrong but I feel something is surely wrong. The way the killer looked and smiled. It's something. I was trying to remember the voice but I couldn't figure out.
"Not about them. About the killer," I said absent-mindedly, "Whoever he was yesterday definitely knows me."
"How?" Emily got up and looked at me as I moved my gaze to her.
"He said that he promised someone that he won't hurt me and that someone told him about me going to your house or something," I said. A frown formed on her face.
"Someone might have seen you around my house," she said the exact same thing as Aiden which might be true.
"That's there but who did he promised?" I asked again.
"Maybe he just diverting you?" she said and she might be right as well. There might be possibilities why he didn't want to kill me. Maybe he just wanted to scare me so I would stop going into depth. Does that mean he didn't scare the cops? Or someone is helping him out. I don't know. I need to stop thinking else my night will be worst.
"That's one possibility," I said shrugging the thoughts away.
"You are thinking way too much," Emily said and yawned widening her mouth, "I hope we get something tomorrow."
"Just be careful," she said and spread across the bed stretching her hands and legs. I smiled at her.
"Hmm...I will," I said in a low voice letting out a sigh and moved my gaze away.
"Good night," I said.
"Good night. I am taking the left side exposed to the window," she said and closed her eyes.
"Okay," I said.
"Don't think too much and go to sleep," she said in a sleepy voice. I smiled to myself.
"Yes, mom. Sleep now," I said looking up in the sky. The moon was full today spreading his brightness across the town making it shine white. A tear escaped my eye as I stared at the stars remembering my mom's words when she used to tell me out the theories of stars and moon at night and about how she will shine like the brightest star in the galaxy when she is no more with us. I don't remember her much or the time I spent with her but I know she was a beautiful soul and that she loved me a lot. I got up from the couch and walked towards the dressing table opening the drawer. I took out her neckless which is the only thing I have of her. I held the red stone closer to my heart. This will make me feel less scared. This neckless gave me the strength when I was little and coping with my fears so I hope it will help me to get through this night and this phase as well.
