"You better be going to the club tonight. It wasn't easy for me to convince the owners to let us in," Olivia said, her tone a mix of determination and excitement.
"I'm all for a good time, don't get me wrong, but what if my dad finds out? He'd definitely kill me," I argued
"Well, isn't your dad the one who supplies people and demons with angel blood to get high?" Olivia said. "He's breaking the accords by dealing, so who is he to lecture anyone?"
I shot her a glare. She wasn't wrong, but my dad was like many businessmen, keeping his work life separate. When I found out what he actually did for a living, he made it clear that he had no intention of allowing any of that to seep into my life. He warned me sternly that I better act accordingly, or else he'd ensure I'd end up behind bars through paid-off law officials. I never dared to mess up, not after knowing the fate of the poor guy who once yelled at my dad downstairs about a botched business deal. I overheard their heated argument, and that man went missing, never to be seen again.
My dad was powerful, with demons at his disposal who would go to any length to ensure the constant flow of supply. Once I became aware to my dad's world, he started showering me with lavish gifts, granting me everything I desired. We became the wealthiest family in the city.
Plus, I wasn't exactly the most social kid in town, oddly enough. People tended to gravitate towards me for status rather than genuine connection. Besides, I didn't have many reasons to leave the house; we had everything one could desire for a fun night. From a fully equipped movie theater to game room, the mansion offered many forms of entertainment.
"Now, this club is a bit high-end, and we want to blend in, especially since most of its members are angels ," Olivia remarked as she handed me a button-up shirt and a suit jacket.
I stepped into the bathroom to change, while Olivia, ever comfortable in her own skin, didn't hesitate to get changed just about anywhere, including in front of me in my room. Despite Olivia being one of the few who knew I was gay, I still felt uncomfortable as hell. I admired her confidence and wished I could be like her. She always told me I was a catch, but no matter her reassurances, I am still very self-conscious.
Struggling with the buttons on my sleeve, I couldn't help but let out a frustrated yell, "Olivia, help me, please!" She came in with a grin, remarking, "Well, look at you, you are hot," as she buttoned up my sleeves.
"You look very nice too," I said to Olivia, admiring her in her red dress. She always looked badass, effortlessly pulling off any look. But it wasn't just her attire that made her stand out; it was her confidence.
Tucking my shirt in slightly, I took a deep breath, feeling a bit more put together. "Alright, let's go," I said.
The worst part was having to walk to our destination because, in order to avoid the security team stationed outside 24/7. We had to climb the fence. Fortunately, luck was on our side as we found a spot behind a tree where the barbed wire had broken off during a storm a while back. We used it to leave whenever me and her snuck out. I'm 19 but My dad treats me like I'm 12, he says its because I am a target.
I assisted Olivia first, pushing her up and over the fence. With her being short, she couldn't quite manage it alone, I chuckle as I teased her about it. Once she was safely on the other side, I easily hoisted myself over the fence. At 6'3'', climbing wasn't much of a challenge for me. As I landed on the ground, Olivia watched. "Show off," she whispered, to which I grinned in response.
As we strolled, I found solace in admiring the city lights and towering buildings. There was a certain innocence to the night, a feeling that momentarily washed away my worries. I remembered why I had agreed to this in the first place.
However, my peaceful reverie was shattered when I spotted approaching car lights up ahead. Dread crept over me, fearing that it might be my dad taking this route home. We had sneaked out before, and though he typically went straight to bed after returning, this was the riskiest part where we could easily get caught. "Oh, great," I muttered under my breath.
Before I could fully process the situation, a sudden commotion behind us sent a jolt of panic through my veins. Olivia's piercing scream echoed in the night air, and I barely had time to turn around before a menacing figure emerged-a demon.
Instinctively, I braced myself, but it was too late. A sharp blow to the head sent searing pain radiating through my skull, and everything went black.
