When Zhan woke up, he was in the infirmary. He clutched his shoulder and pulled down his shirt to see the wound was gone and he was healed completely.

Strange.

His wound was healed, but he still felt pain.

Was it ghost pain?

"You are up." the sudden voice scared him as he looked at him.

Yibo quickly came to him and sat at the edge of the bed looking at him worriedly, "does it still hurts? I thought that it healed, I will try to contact a sorcerer..."

Zhan grabbed his hand and squeezed it, "I am fine... It's okay...um..." Zhan paused as he looked at Yibo, he still can't believe that this person who he thought was an innocent human was actually a guardian.

Yibo sensed this and he by no means wanted things to get awkward so he said, "years ago... I suddenly vanished because I had my guardian awakening."

Zhan looked at him, he never really had any interactions with guardians so he never knew what's that, "what is that?"

Yibo sighed, "guardian awakening is when a guardian is ready to receive his or her celestial weapon, I received mine which was a trident.

Guardians are warriors and trained to fight since birth, but when they get their celestial weapon that is full of power it takes some time to master them.

They undergo immense training in order to master this super strong weapon, because if they didn't learn how to use their weapon rightfully then they can die and hurt others around them.

I didn't even have the chance to meet you because this immense power made me unstable, my emotions were all over the place and anything that triggered me can cause mayhem that's why my father had to send me away. In order to get trained."

Zhan sighed and nodded, "I understand." he paused before he suddenly smiled, "that's crazy though I had never ever expected this turn of events."

"Neither had I." Yibo said and then Zhan asked, "about Ziyi... I had heard you know your fights about...how you killed her husband and all... was it true? I really didn't mean to pry.

But that time I thought that you were human and getting abused... so... that's why."

Yibo sighed as he looked down and held down Zhan's hand tightly, "I am not a weak human."

Zhan smiled, "I know that."

Yibo's face went blank for some time, and he looked very torn, as if didn't know where to start.

But after some time he gathered the courage to speak,"Ziyi is right, she has the right to hate me and even kill me... I did kill her husband."

Zhan looked at him not knowing what to say as Yibo continued, "My...my powers were corrupted a few years back."

Zhan's eyes widened, "what? how? I mean aren't guardians immune to that?"

Yibo shook his head, "when I got my celestial weapon, it had a name, a guardian must never ever tell his weapon's name to anyone, if the weapon's name is disclosed then that guardian is doomed because the person can either let it slide or corrupt my powers.

And the latter happened with me, my powers were corrupted and I lost control and killed my parents, Ziyi's parents, and even her husband...

To save herself and her child she summoned a spirit... Ziyi's family has been guarding a spirit for hundreds of years, that spirit was trapped in a stone, so to save herself and her child she summoned that spirit and that spirit saved me from corruption and helped me to change my weapon's name.

However to do that, that spirit used all its powers and took shelter in Ziyi's body, and that proved to be fatal, she went through depression, and then another spirit in her body also contributed, and finally one day her child died.

And she lost control of her emotions and even tried to use black magic to bring her husband and child back and her relatives found out and nearly killed her for that.

The spirit in her body would have also backend so to stop Ziyi the spirit also absorbed all her magic and if that was not enough that spirit was slowly feeding on Ziyi's soul, which makes Ziyi weak and cold.

And seeing her like that I couldn't leave her alone as guilt was clawing my heart to save her I married her so that I can keep her by my side away from her relatives who were going to kill her and I fed that spirit my powers..."

"What?!" Zhan spoke baffled by this and Yibo nodded.

"That spirit apparently was not a normal spirit, to save me that spirit had sacrificed half of her powers that it cultivated for hundreds of years, and so she fed on other's life force to get it back.

She does not do it on purpose though this is how Ziyi accidentally killed a few humans that she touched and that made her more and more depressed so I locked her in the house and only fed her my powers."

Zhan's mouth was half agape as he looked at Yibo with wide eyes his face was covered with a frown, this story shook him to the core, it was so messed up and so brutally tragic.

Yibo sighed, "I am a guardian and we are blessed by nature we have immense spiritual energy and we are connected to all the five elements of the earth and to some extent in Croia as well.

Nothing can corrupt me other than my weapon's name being stolen... however, sometimes I give Ziyi more and enough power and that makes me feel weak it won't kill me though.

Just like last night... I fainted because I had given Ziyi a lot of spiritual energy."

Zhan closed his eyes and sighed while Yibo gulped and wiped the lone tear that slipped from his eyes, "I wanted to give my entire life and soul to that spirit so that she would leave Ziyi however I can't, I have a responsibility as a guardian and I wanted to find that person who corrupted my power and I want to give my parent justice as well."

Zhan did not say anything while Yibo who was holding his hand stared at nothing his face was firm and his eyes were wet from hot boiling tears.

While Marius who was just outside the room and also heard this story and to say this heard was ripped into shreds would be an understatement.

He left from there and came out to see his mate sitting near the fountain looking at nothing.

Her hand was on her stomach and her eyes were dead and empty, Marius slowly went to her, and she sensed his movements, when he was standing right next to her she finally looked at him, her tears full of tears as she got up and said, "you...you promised me that you won't let me hurt anyone else ever... but... you broke that promise."

Marous looked down, he can't bare to look at her, he just can't see her cry anymore, not after hearing everything back then, " I am sorry, " was all he could say.

"No... I am sorry for trusting you," she said and sat down again no one said anything after that and there was silence.
