Chapter 20 - Jealousy
Sophia's P.O.V.
We were having dinner when Xander asked me, "Did you receive an invitation?"
"Yeah."
"We'll go together tomorrow when I arrive home."
"No, I will go from the company. I will take my dress to the company."
"Sophia."
"Xander, you're arriving late. I will go with my parents. My mother is going to the company, too."
He breathed deeply and said as calmly as possible, "Alright. It will be like you say, Sophia."
He stood up with his plate being almost full so I asked him, "Are you not hungry?"
"No, I've lost my appetite. I'm going to work."
He went to his office without looking at me. I finished eating, cleared the table and went upstairs. I was tired. I decided to go to bed.
I got up in the morning. I took my dress for the event. When I went down, there was breakfast on the table. Since I had started to stay in his house, Xander got up early every morning and made breakfast. It made me happy how caring he was towards us, but sometimes he exaggerated. It made me angry. I walked closer to the table and there was a note on the table.
'Good Morning! Don't leave without having breakfast. Drink the orange juice, too. See you at the event. Xander.'
I put the note on the table and had breakfast. Suddenly, a wave of nausea flooded over me. I ran to the bathroom. I felt sick. I didn't feel well; nausea passed a little at noon.
I was ready. I told Luke that he didn't have to wait for me, but he told me that he was going to drop me off because he had an injunction from Xander that he would drop me off.
When I arrived at the event, Xander hadn't arrived yet. I walked towards my parents and Xander's parents. After talking to them, I went to talk to Ella. We were talking and she said, "Sophia, look at who's coming?!"
I was surprised when I turned around, "Derek?"
"Girls, you look beautiful." He hugged me, then he hugged Ella.
Derek was our groupmate from the university. We hadn't seen him for a couple of years.
"Where have you been? We haven't seen you for a couple of years," Ella asked.
"Look who's talking. There was no news from you after graduation either."
"Excuse me, my mother calls me," Ella said.
"Okay, Ella."
Xander's P.O.V.
I didn't see Sophia when I arrived. I went towards my parents and asked them, "Where's Sophia, mom?"
"She went to talk to Ella."
"Okay, I'm going to talk to James."
"Okay, son."
James and I were talking while I looked for Sophia and finally I found her. She was talking to a man though. I squeezed the whiskey glass in my hand tightly. "Who is he?!" I asked James.
"Who, Xander?" he asked. He looked at where I was looking. "Oh, Derek is here, too."
"Who is he?" I asked again.
"Derek Thompson. Don't you remember him? We met him at a party a few years ago."
"Yeah. Why is he talking to Sophia? I'm going to them."
"Calm down, Xander. They're just talking," he tried to stop me.
"Are they only talking?! Don't you see how he's looking at her." As I continued looking, I saw that he said something to her; she was laughing. As the waitress passed by them, the man took two glasses of wine and gave her one. I put the whiskey I had in my hand down on the table. "I'm going."
James said something behind me, but I went to them without listening to him. I grabbed the glass from her hand and took a sip. I put my hand on her lower back. The man was shocked.
"Darling," I kissed her cheek, looking at the man. Sophia was surprised. She wanted to pull away, but I wrapped my arm around her waist tightly and pulled her closer to me.
"Are you together?" he asked Sophia. This guy was getting on my nerves. I wanted to break his nose.
"Yeah," she answered.
"You never told me," he said looking at me. She must have felt my tension and she said, "There wasn't an opportunity. Xander, let me introduce you to my friend Derek, from the university. Derek, this is Xander."
"Her fiancé," I added while looking into her eyes.
After we shook hands, he left. She pulled away. She was angry. "What do you think you are doing, Xander?"
"Alcohol can harm the baby," I said and pointed to the glass as I placed it on the table.
"I was not drinking. I didn't say anything because I didn't want everybody to know about my pregnancy."
"Nobody or Derek?" I questioned.
"What are you talking about, Xander?! He is just my friend."
"He was flirting with you. You looked like you were very satisfied."
"What are you talking about, Xander?! Stop this nonsense."
She was angry at me. She went towards our parents. I followed her and offered my hand, "Let's dance, darling."
"I'm tired," she said to refuse my offer.
"Come on." I wasn't going to take no for an answer. I held her hand and walked to the dance floor. I pulled her closer to me.
"I told you that I'm tired. Why are you doing this?" She kept refusing.
"Be quiet and dance." She wanted to go, but I didn't let her. In order to get her to dance with me, I whispered, "My parents are looking." She started dancing and didn't say anything. Stubborn.
Sophia's P.O.V.
After the dance, I went to talk to Ella. "What happened?" she asked.
"Xander happened. He got jealous of Derek," I said while rolling my eyes. She laughed. "Don't laugh, Ella. I'm angry!"
"But he wasn't being unfair. Didn't you see how Derek looked at you? He asked you out several times when we were at the university."
"It's in the past. There is no such thing as that now. And I didn't feel anything for him at that time either."
"I'm not sure it's in the past. He's still looking at you." I looked at the direction where Ella pointed with her eyes. Derek was looking at me. He smiled as he saw me looking at him.
We were beside our parents. We were going to celebrate our engagement with only our families and friends in two days. Xander was talking to his mother and suddenly, I felt dizzy.
"Are you alright, my dear? Your face is pale," Xander's mother asked worriedly.
Xander put his hand on my waist and asked with a concerned expression, "Are you alright, darling?"
"I'm a little tired. My head began to spin."
"Mom, we're going," Xander said.
"Okay, watch out. I will tell your parents, Sophia."
Xander put his hand on my waist and pulled me closer to him as we walked outside. He opened the door, and I got in. He got in the car as well and asked me, "Are you better now?"
"Yes, it passed."
"You're not listening to me. I tell you not to go to the company. You get tired."
"I'm looking after myself. I said that because your mother would become suspicious. Dizziness is normal during pregnancy. Let's go home."
"Okay."
Three weeks later
Xander's P.O.V.
I got up to drink some water at midnight. When I was returning to my room, I heard her voice coming from the bedroom. I entered the room. She was having a nightmare. I tried to wake her up.
I sat on the bed and shook her shoulder gently, "Sophia. You're having a nightmare, beautiful. Wake up, Sophia."
She opened her eyes, "Xander."
She hugged me, crying. I hugged her back and reassured her, "I'm here with you." I stroked her hair and she calmed down. I took her cheeks in my hands. "Are you better?"
Suddenly, she kissed my lips. I started to respond to her after I got rid of my surprise. I helped her sit on my lap. She wrapped her legs around my waist. We were kissing passionately. I missed her so much. I took her nightie off and threw it away. I moved my lips down, placing kisses on her skin from her neck to her breasts.
She ran her hands through my hair. I sucked her nipple and bit it slightly. She moaned. I cupped her other breast while teasing her nipple. I teased her other nipple.
"Xander," she mumbled.
I laid her on the bed. I bent over her. I didn't put my weight on her stomach. I continued kissing her lips. I trailed my hands down her body. I slipped it between her legs and I shoved my fingers inside her. She pressed her head to the pillow. I moved my fingers in and out faster.
"I missed you so much," I mumbled, leaving kisses on her body. I couldn't wait anymore. I took my clothes off. I parted her legs and shoved my length inside her. I entwined our fingers above her head. I started to move inside of her faster.
