Graduation night

Matt pushed the door open, slamming your back against the wall as your lips collided.

Muffled moans filled the silence of your shared apartment as he lifted your legs, wrapping them around his waist as your hands roamed his chest.

"I have been waiting all day to fuck you." Matt smiled into a sloppy kiss as your hands unbuttoned his shirt while his cupped your ass. "Attorney Y/n Y/L/N."

You chuckled softly as Matt placed kisses all along your collarbone and neck, slipping the strap of your dress off your shoulders as it began to fall down your body. Clothes became discarded on the floor below you as Matt moved his lips over yours, stumbling towards the bedroom while your hands roamed the back of his neck.

"We just had sex this morning before the ceremony." You chuckled. "You act like we haven't had sex in ages."

"With you, I need it more then once a day." Matt said as he pressed your back into the mattress, erupting a laugh from your mouth as his lips covered yours and his hands moved over your waist-cupping it in his hands. "Fuck- with you I feel like I need it every hour."

Your hands moved to his bare back as he unclipped your bra, discarding it on the floor next to you as he licked a long stripe down your body. Your nails dug into his skin as he made it to your underwear, pulling them down your legs as he placed them in the same place as your bra.

"Every hour, huh?" You said breathlessly. "I personally feel like that's a bit much." You said sarcastically.

"Well I would be willing to take you to court for this matter if needed." Matt said, hovering over you as a smile lifted the corner of his lips. You smiled as you took his glasses off, placing them down on the bed next to you.

"Oh enough with the lawyer talk, just fuck me, Matthew." You breathed, just as Matt placed another long kiss to your lips, moving his pants down his legs with his free hand while the other cupped your waist.

Matt moved his hands down to your legs, pushing them apart as he moved his knee in the middle of them. Your hands moved to his neck, pulling him down closer to you as you both continued roaming each other lips, not pulling back for even a second.

With one simple motion Matt pushed himself inside of you, making your back arch up as a loud moan escaped your lips.

"Fuck-Fuck-Fuck-Matt-" You breathed heavily as Matt placed his head in the crook of your neck, pushing in and out of you.

"Oh sweetheart- Your doing so good." He said, pressing soft kisses to the crook of your neck. "Fitting every inch of me inside of you like the pretty slut you are." Matt praised, moving his lips over yours again as your hands where pinned above your head by him.

"Faster-" You moaned, making Matt almost cum on the spot by the sound of your voice. He sped his pace up as the bed creaked under you both, the sound of heavy moans overturning the noise.

Matt moaned your name over and over again as he kept speeding his pace up, moving the bed harshly with every movement he made. Finally, you called out his name as you dug your nails into his skin, the feeling of your stomach dropping overtaking your body.

"Matt- I'm gonna cum." You breathed as Matt continued his pace.

"Good girl." Matt praised, moving his lips over your collarbone as he sucked at your skin. "Cum for me, sweetheart."

Just like that, you released onto Matt. Your vision became blurry as he repeated your name, releasing into you at the same time.

Matt pulled out of you soon after, falling over on the bed next to you as heavy breathing filled the room.

"Our neighbors are gonna file another noise complaint." You said, making Matt laugh. He reached over, cupping your face with his hands as he turned your face towards him.

"I don't give a shit what they do, I'm not gonna keep quiet when I'm fucking you." He said, moving his lips over yours.

You smiled, "Imagine what they'll complain about on our wedding night." You continued kissing Matt, his arms wrapped tightly around your body.

"Our wedding night?" Matt questioned, his demeanor now changed as he let out a confused scoff.

"Yeah," You shrugged, "I mean I figured after we graduated you would pop the question sometime soon. It's not like we haven't been dating since we where sixteen." You chuckled.

"Well I mean, I-" He paused. "No what, nevermind, It doesn't matter." He said, beginning to move his lips over yours again as you pulled back.

"Hey no." You said, pulling back. "Come on, tell me." You said, your bodies still close.

Matt breathed. "I just don't really see why we have to get married." He shrugged. "That's all."

Your head cocked as you sat up, pulling the blankets over your body. "You don't want to get married to me?"

"That's not what I'm saying-" Matt grunted as he sat up. "We do everything a married couple does, I just don't really understand why we have to get married. So we can say I love you in front of three of our friends?" He scoffed.

"It's a vow, Matt." You argued. "It's a vow to love each other no matter what."

"I tell you I love you all the time." He said, his voice now raising. "Here, you want me to say it now? I love you."

"Don't do that." You said aggressively.

"Do what? Tell you I love you?"

"No, do it in spite of me." You stated as you moved from the bed, grabbing a shirt and shorts from your dresser. "Your making fun of the idea of marriage, something that I care a lot about."

"I'm not making fun of it, I'm just saying we are already practically married so I don't see why we have to actually do it." He moved from the bed, putting clothes on. "I mean come on, you want me to buy you a dress? If you want I can buy you a white dress."

"Stop that!"

"Stop what? I'm just saying, that's how I feel!" Matt shouted.

"Your making fun of me because I'm thinking logically!" You yelled. "What do you want to do, be 50 and tell people we're still dating?"

Matt opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out. Instantly you felt your heart shatter. You let out a heavy breath as you stared at him.

"You don't think we'll make it that far, don't you?" You questioned, your voice on the verge of breaking. You let out a laugh through your tears, your emotions all over the place. "You think we'll break up."

"We where young when we started dating-"

"Oh my God." You tried to comfort yourself, thinking of reasons why he would say that but still, his words flooded your mind and panged at your heart.

"Can you blame me?" Matt shouted. "We where sixteen, for all we knew we where just horny and wanted to fuck someone, we didn't know what we where doing!"

"So that's what this is? Some fucking booty-call?" You yelled. "Some pathetic relationship that somehow is still lasting?"

"I'm not saying that, your not listening to me!" Matt's voice raised, rasping through the walls of the apartment.

"I'm listening to you, Matt." You said, feeling your chin tremble. He walked closer, reaching his arm out, but they where pushed away by you. "Don't. Don't touch me." There was a moment of stillness, a moment when no words where spoken. "Tell me, do you think-" You paused. "Do you think this will last?"

"Of course I do." He pleaded.

"I can't hear heartbeat, Matt. How the hell do I know your not just saying that?" You cried.

Matt reached for your hand, placing it on his heart. "Tell me, does this sound like the heart of someone who isn't in love?"

You paused, your voice growing soft and weak. "That's not what I asked you." You felt his heartbeat speed up. "Tell me the truth, Matt. Do you think this will last?"

Matt let out a heavy breath, "I'm-" He couldn't even form words. The feeling of remorse filled his chest. "I'm so sorry." He spoke quietly as he lowered his head.

Just like that, you broke. The words sharp on Matt's tongue confirmed your suspicions, he didn't think it would last. He loved you now, but he didn't know if he would love you then.

You broke first, then Matt followed suit. Hiccupping as tears snuck up on you, one falling down your cheek. Every bit of love and trust you had for each other, had somehow disappeared in the span of two minutes.

Matt frowned as tears streamed into his eyes. "Please." He begged. "Please you need to understand I love you so much." Guilt laced his words, it sounded like a pathetic apology.

"If you loved me, you wouldn't think of us as something temporary." You said quietly.

You pulled your hand back from him, making the words on his lips disappear. You said nothing else to him as his forehead pressed against yours, knowing what was coming next would hurt most.

"I'm gonna stay with my sister for a bit." You nodded, pulling back from Matt as he repeated the words 'no' constantly. "I just think we need some space."

"No please don't, please don't leave Y/n." Matt cried, feeling the one piece of his heart fall apart and shatter on the ground.

"I need a break." You said as your voice broke, no longer referring to you both, but now just yourself. "I need to think some things out, decide if I think this is something...something I want to keep going."

"Don't go-" Matt cried.

"Matt you just told me you don't think this is going to work!" You shouted. "How do you expect me to stay when you think our relationship is some sort of ticking time bomb?" You forced a hollow expression. "You where right, we won't work. We're just good idea's in each others minds. We where only good in our little dream world. But we will tear each other apart in the real world, Matt." You paused. "There's no point in pretending this can work forever."

Matt felt your words twist like a blade in his heart. "Is that how you really feel?"

"Yes." No, I know this can work. I know we are worth fighting for.

"Fine." Please stop this. Stop us from making the worst decision of our lives.

You wanted him to despise you. You wanted him to be able to move on, to be able to find something else so you knew that what you had was only temporary.

"So this is it?" Matt questioned.

"This is it." You stated.

You couldn't stand it. Having to stare at someone who you practically just destroyed. The man you loved with every bit of your heart.

Over. Just like that, a life, a relationship, over.

Just by the sound of a heartbeat.

Present time

Your eyes slowly opened as Matt pushed through the door of his apartment. Bright blue, pink, and purple lights shone through the dusty glass of the windows as he placed you down on the couch.

Your skull banged against your head as your eyes faintly opened, the feeling of blood dripping down your stomach bringing warmth to your skin.

Yelling erupted through the pair as Matt argued with Frank. You where too out of it to pinpoint exactly what they where saying, but small portions of sentences seeped through your ears.

"What the fuck do we do!?" Frank shouted. "If we don't get that bullet out of her in the next two minutes it's gonna explode in her body and release whatever the hell Dominic was dealing!"

Another sentence.

"My fault?" Matt argued, the faint blurry sight of him walking closer with a knife in his hand taking up your view. "I was giving her a chance, Frank. She needed me to tell her that she wasn't a killer, unlike you who just promotes it!"

Another sentence.

"You just can't stand the fact she isn't like you!" Frank yelled. "You can't stand that she moved on and found someone else to draw to that isn't you!"

Another sentence.

"That's gonna hurt her, Red." Frank shook his head as the slow and blurry image appeared closer as he walked near the couch. "You need to keep her quiet or else the neighbors are gonna call the police on us."

Your eyes fluttered open slowly as you looked over at Matt who was crouched down on the side of you. His hands where cupping yours as his head pressed against the couch next to you. Blood covered his ungloved hands as small tears sprung down your face.

He mumbled words of prayer as Frank held a knife in his hand, standing over your bare stomach.

"Matt..." You groaned, sounding more like a painful moan then anything. Your eyes filled with water as you felt your insides burning from the bullet.

Matt's head peaked up quick as he stopped praying, his free hand moving to your face. He had a small smile of relief peer on his face as he spoke.

"Yeah-Yeah it's me." He said through a lifted smile. "Listen, Frank has to get the bullet out of you and the hole it went in is too small for us to reach in-"

You looked back at Frank as Matt continued speaking. Frank's eyes had a look of sorrow as he stared down at you. The person he swore to himself he would protect, was down bleeding half to death.

"-He needs to open the wound a bit more in order for us to reach in." Matt said, grasping your hand harder. "It's gonna hurt like hell, and I'm gonna need you to stay quiet for me, okay?"

"I've had worse." You joked as your voice became slow and muffled. Your skin became colder as a slight chill ran down your spine.

Matt slightly laughed through fear. "Of course you have." He looked over at Frank. "We need to do it, I can hear the bullet starting to move."

You looked back at Frank, seeing the hesitation in his face.

"It's okay." You slightly nodded through a rasp of a voice. "I'll be fine."

Frank had a painful look on his face as he shook his head. "Three...two..." And with that he pressed the hot knife to your skin, cutting a deeper and longer wound.

Your back arched as you clenched your eyes shut. You shut your mouth as you screamed, tears streaming down your face. You squeezed Matt's hand as tight as you could as he pressed his lips to the skin of your fist, shaking his head as the sounds of your muffled screams filled his ears.

"It's okay, sweetheart." Matt said quietly, trying to calm you down as he pressed his head to your hands.

As Frank stopped you looked up, your body was shaky as tears continued to stream like a river down your cheeks.

"Please- Please be done." You shook your head. "I can't do it, I can't, It hurts." You cried.

"I'm done with that part." Frank said, in a disappointed tone as he placed the knife down on the coffee table next to him. "With the worst part, no."

You saw as Frank grabbed the plastic gloves from the first-aid kit, placing the latex over his hands as he looked at you.

"No.." You said softly. "Frank, I swear to God your hand better not end up in my fucking stomach."

"He has to get the bullet out, Y/n." Matt said, making your head turn to him.

"Fuck." You shook your head. "Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck." You repeated as you clenched your eyes shut. "Just do it, get it over with."

Matt looked over at Frank who had hesitation written all over his face. He could hear Franks pounding heartbeat as it slammed against his chest.

"Frank!" Matt yelled, bringing him back to earth. "It has less then a minute before it explodes inside of her and releases everything, you need to do it." He said with urgency in his voice, clasping his hand further over yours.

Frank looked up at you as you gave him a slight nod, his hand reaching inside the larger wound on your stomach. The sounds of skin, blood, and organs mixing together filled the room, along with your gut-wrenching screams that where being muffled by your closed mouth.

Matt turned to you as he heard your heartrate spike. "Hey, look at me." He said, his voice somewhat calming you down as you turned to him. "Remember that time when we where kids and you sprained your leg?"

You nodded as you winced through small tears, "Y-yeah I remember."

"All you wanted was popsicles." Matt laughed through fear. "You didn't want anything but popsicles because you where convinced that was the only thing that made you feel better."

You had a small smile arise on your face, despite the pain, "Only the strawberry ones though."

"Only the strawberry ones." Matt repeated. "Keep thinking of days like that, just keep your attention on something else." He said as you clenched his hand tight as Frank moved his hand around, finding the bullet.

You nodded slightly, looking over at Frank as you opened your mouth. "Frank I swear to God, you better find that fucking bullet in the next ten seconds or I'm gonna vomit on you." You said as you clenched your teeth together, feeling as if you where going to break them.

"I'm tryin!" Frank shouted through panic as he wrapped his fingers around the bullet, pulling it out of you in one simple pull, a loud scream erupting through your lips.

You finally stopped screaming as Frank placed the bullet to the side of the table. Matt quickly let go of your hand, rushing over to the first-aid kit as he grabbed gauze and a handful of blood-stoppers.

Your vision became blurry once again as your head fell back-panging through the yells of the men. Voices became combined together as your eyes shut, leaving you in silence once again.

-+++++++-

The early morning sun flooded through the blinds, making your eyes shut ever so slightly due to the contrast of the light.

Your body was covered by one of Matt's button ups as you lay in his bed, covered by black silk sheets-the same ones you both had bought when you moved in with each other. Your fingers gripped the silk slightly as you sat up, feeling every piece of skin on your stomach pull apart.

Blood covered a used to be white bandage on your stomach, the sight of it making you cringe as you stared down at it.

Just as you looked back up, the sliding door opened-revealing Matt's face.

The stubble on his face had grown out a bit from not shaving it the past few nights. His body was covered with a white t-shirt and grey sweatpants, perfectly framing and sculpting every muscle on his body.

"Morning sunshine." Matt said with sarcasm, a stark difference then the usual bland and angry tone he gave you. "How you feeling?" He questioned as he walked closer, holding a cup of coffee in hand.

"For someone who has a hole in their stomach, I'm gonna say pretty good." You shrugged as Matt came closer, adjusting the pillows behind your back so you could sit up straight.

"Well that's good." He moved back. "Your vitals sound okay so I would say my shitty stitching skills are holding up pretty well." He paused, remembering why he came in the room in the first place. "Oh and uh...this is for you." He said, handing you the mug of coffee.

You took it from his hands ,"I can tell this is pity coffee for getting me shot, but I'll take it."

"Well, it's not like they have a card for the occasion, so I figured coffee would do." He shrugged, sitting down on the side of the bed next to your hip. He motioned to your stomach with his hand. "May I?"

"Prod away, doc." You said, giving him free reign.

Matt moved closer, unbuttoning the bottom of his shirt you wore. His hands moved over the skin of your stomach, his fingers wrapping around your waist on one side as he lifted the bandage with the other.

You watched him as he did so, feeling a small burst of butterflies run through your stomach. Trying to keep your heartrate down, you took deep breaths-your motions not going un-noticed by Matt.

"You alright?" He questioned, a small smirk lining his lips as his head peaked up at you. He heard what he was doing to your heartbeat, and sure it was fucked up to keep going, but he did anyway. Payback as he would consider it.

"Perfectly fine." You said, making Matt let out a small chuckle as he felt at your stomach again, taking the bandage off.

His fingers laced over the terribly stitched hole, running along the open lines as small spurts of dry blood covered the skin of your stomach. You winced at the slight pain, feeling like every part of your lower stomach was one giant bruise.

"Still doesn't seem the best." He observed.

"Yeah, no shit."

Matt's face narrowed at your response. He could practically feel the rebuttal burning up inside of him as he took a deep breath. Staying still for a moment, he reached over for the new bandages on the side of the bed, taking one in his hand as the other remained on your waist.

"You want to do this yourself?" He questioned, the more he listened to you the less his harsh reactive thoughts took over his mind. "Or do you want the help?"

Sighing, you looked down at your lap. "I want the help." You mumbled.

"Great." Matt said, his voice going from raspy and dark to a bit lighter.

He cleaned off the stitching again with alcohol, going through the same procedure he used to do with his dad when he would come home from boxing matches. The entire time he worked, your eyes where trained on what he was doing, but mostly him.

Forming words became hard as he continued. Your mind raced, trying to find the words to say thank you for what he was doing. But instead, you chickened out, starting a new conversation instead.

"Remember when I snuck out and sliced my knee open on that tree outside your apartment?" You questioned, making a small smile instantly form on Matt's lips.

"How could I forget?" He questioned, unwrapping the bandage as he placed it over your stomach. "You where terrified about your parents getting pissed at you. My dad agreed to sneak you back in so you wouldn't get caught." He had a small smile form on his lips.

"Your dad was always keeping me from getting my ass beaten." You snarked. "The best was whenever we showed up to his boxing match after he told us to stay home. He had to come up with some excuse to my parents saying I was studying with you."

Matt laughed. For once really laughed. "God, we where terrible kids." He smiled, finishing the bandage. "My dad really liked you. He always told me-" Matt's smile quickly disappeared as he cleared his throat.

Your head cocked, "Told you what?"

Matt paused, the smile now small and forced. "Told me I should marry you."

You felt like your mouth was being held shut. "Right." You nodded, saying the only words that could leave your mouth. "Well if I'm being honest, he wouldn't want that now. Y'know, things changed. I'm much different then he probably would remember me like."

"Right." Matt nodded.

"Right." You said again, silence wavering over you. Heat rushed to your cheeks as you turned your head away, finding something new to focus on in the living room. "Frank looks like he's about to have a brain aneurism." You noted.

Matt finished everything up. "He found the location for the guy who's phone you bugged the other day. We where gonna head over there again and see if he knew anything about where Dominic is."

"Where's he at?"

"Wharf." Matt said simply. "Guess he works for a fishing company down there."

"That guy was dressed in the nicest shit and gave us $10,000. There is no way in hell he's a fisherman." You said in disbelief.

"I guess we'll find out when we get there." Matt said, standing up fully as he wiped his hands with a cloth. "How does it feel?"

"Hurts like a bitch." You shrugged, starting to move your legs out of bed. "But I'm fine."

Matt had a love-hate relationship with your stubbornness. Although he appreciated your for once civil exchange with each other , he knew where this was heading, and couldn't let it happen.

Matt stopped you from moving, placing his hands on your waist to gently push you back down.

"No." He shook his head.

"Matt."

"I said no." He said again, standing up as he took his hands from your hips. "You just got shot last night and now you want to find this guy again?"

"Yeah, glad your keeping up." You said, trying yet again to get your legs out of bed, this time being stopped full force by Matt's hands around your wrists, pushing you back down. "Oh come on! This is my guy! My guy, my rules."

"I'm not debating with you anymore about this." Matt still had his hands wrapped around your wrists. "I'm not gonna put you in a position where you can get hurt again."

You stared Matt down. "I hate that I have to do this, but I know it's the only way I can distract you."

"Do what?" Matt questioned.

You took your hands from Matt's grasp, reaching up as you cupped his face in the palm of your hands. Moving up slightly, you pressed your lips to his, bringing him down next to you on the bed as your lips continued crashing together as Matt's hands moved to your lower back, not pulling back the slightest.

Just as Matt landed on the bed next to you, you pulled back, moving your legs from the bed as you felt your insides practically rip apart with every swift motion.

Standing up fully, you looked down at Matt who's face was completely red and flustered. He laid flat on his back, one hand behind his head and the other on his stomach.

"Really?" Matt questioned. "That was your way of distracting me?"

"It worked didn't it?" You questioned, a small grin appearing on your lips. "Didn't feel you pulling back, Matthew."

"If your implying I enjoyed it, I didn't." He argued.

You nodded to his pants and hummed, "Well either way, you may want to adjust yourself before we go." You smirked. "It's quite unprofessional showing up with a boner Mr. Murdock." You said sarcastically leaving the room through the sliding door as you made your way to Frank who was sitting in the living room.

"Did I just see what I think I saw?" Frank questioned, his eyes glued away from the laptop for once in the past three hours.

"Not like I could flash him, so I went with the next best thing." You shrugged, reaching forward as you grabbed the key's to Frank's pickup, flipping them on your fingers as Matt walked out from the room. Matt and Frank remained still and silent, not willing to discuss what had just happened.

"What are we waiting for a written invitation?" You questioned. " We have people to interrogate, and killers to catch. " Still Matt and Frank remained still, looking between each other as you slipped your shoes on. "In other words, let's go."

-++++++++-

"For fucks sake, how much longer do we gotta wait for this guy?" Frank questioned, eager to leave the drivers seat after watching the street for the past two hours.

"Yeah, Y/n are you sure he's even here?" Matt questioned, turning his head back.

"He'll come." You said, staring down at your phone as you watched the man's location remain still. "We just have to be patient."

3 hours later

"That's it." Frank sat up as he banged his hand against the steering wheel, "I'm done, he ain't here."

You sat up from the backseat, your baseball cap falling low on your head as you moved it back up. "We aren't leaving, Frank."

"She's right, we leave and who knows what will happen next." Matt brought out. "Until we catch these guys none of us are safe."

"Oh enough with the kiss ass shit, Red." Frank sneered, turning the keys to the car as the engine kicked on. Cool air burst through the vents as beads of sweat on your face became dried to your skin, "We're done. This is useless, for all we know the guy left his phone here."

You sighed to yourself, looking down at your phone just as Frank took the car out of park. Your eyebrows quickly raised as you saw the location finally move, gaining closer to the car as he approached the exit of the Wharf.

"Wait!" You yelled, practically scaring the shit out of Frank as he moved the car back into park and turned it off, a loud grunt escaping his lips. "He's moving." You kept your eyes focused on your screen. "He's coming out, what do we do?"

"We've been here for five hours and you never thought of a plan?" Matt questioned, turning back at you.

You looked at Matt, cocking your head. "Oh I'm sorry, I've been keeping watch."

"You where sleeping." He argued.

"Fine I was sleeping." You admitted. "But still, you can't even keep watch. You should have been thinking of a plan instead of daydreaming-"

"Daydreaming?" Matt interrupted you. "You think I was daydreaming?"

"Enough bickering like a God damn married couple." Frank sneered between the two of you. "Just figure out a fucking plan before this guy comes out."

You remained silent, your mind racing at a million miles an hour. "Okay, I have a plan."

"Is it a good one?" Matt questioned.

"I have a plan." You repeated, fixing your cap. "Frank start the car, and Matt come with me."

Frank turned the keys to the ignition as the car started. Matt kept his head in your direction, "Are you going to explain to me what we're doing?"

You shook your head, "You'll figure it out soon enough." You said, pulling on the handle as the door pushed open and you went off, Matt following suit as he caught up.

The smell of salt water filled the air as darkness seeped over the wharf. Dimly lit yellow street lights shone over you both as others flickered out, leaving the light of the moon as your sight.

The man was walking to his car. He wore dark blue cargo overalls over a grey t-shirt. His hair was wet as he took his beanie off, reveling the rest of his tired face that was covered in different scratches and bruises.

You and Matt picked up your pace. "I don't like the way your heart is beating." Matt mumbled as he kept his head low under his cap.

"Yeah well, when do you?" You questioned as you made your way to the man's car. "Just do me a favor and stay back until I need you."

Matt scoffed. "You don't think of me as anything other then your homicidal booty-call, huh?"

"Homicidal? No." You shook your head. "Booty-call? Definitely."

The man made his way to his car as he placed his keys in the lock. Footsteps drew closer as his head turned back, seeing you and Matt approaching him.

Within an instant his eyes widened as he quickened his motions, trying to unlock his car as quick as he could. "Shit shit shit shit-"

A sarcastic grin lifted your lips, "Oh come on! Aren't you excited to see me again?" You questioned as he dropped his keys to the floor, reaching in his pocket as he pulled out a knife and lifted it to you, his hands shaking as his heart pounded against his chest.

"Step any closer and I'll stab you, bitch!" He yelled, his hands still shaky.

Matt sighed, reaching forward as he grabbed the knife from the man's hand as he threw it to the ground. He placed his forearm around the man's neck as he placed him in a chokehold.

A smile grew on your lips as the man slowly passed out. "Glad you finally grew some balls while I was asleep." You said, reaching for the mans legs as you lifted the rest of his body.

"Oh sweetheart, we both know I had them long before tonight." He said, your heart racing as he said the term 'sweetheart.' Matt smirked at your reaction, choosing to ignore talking about it until later.

"I'll grab his legs." You said, sounding breathless. "We'll take him to the car."

"Your plan was to kidnap him?" Matt questioned as you lifted the other half of his body.

"Originally it was to stab him until he spoke, but I guess this works better." You shrugged as you brought him back to the truck, Matt's words still racing in your mind. "Besides, he's gonna keep screaming if we keep him here."

"Well we can't just keep him in the back of the truck." Matt said as you both walked back to the truck.

"Who said I was just gonna keep him in the truck?"

-++++++++-

Your arms where crossed over your chest as the small gust of wind blew the beads of sweat off your forehead. The night sky brought darkness over the three of you as you stood in the middle of the ring, closed in by barbwire fences.

The day after you had fought at the fight club, police shut it down. Since then it had remained silent and desolate, making it a perfect place for...well, holding a man hostage.

The man's eyes began to flutter open as all three of you sat on the floor of the ring. Exhaustion piled over you as your arms felt weak, and your eyes felt as if they would fall out of your head. Still, the smallest drive of motivation lived in you, making it so you where still determined to find Dominic.

"He's waking up." Matt said, standing from the floor of the ring.

You and Frank launched from your positions as you stood up, walking towards the man as his eyes finally opened all the way.

"Well good morning, sunshine." You said sarcastically as the man moved his hands against the zip ties that where holding his hands and arms together. "Glad your finally awake, took you long enough."

"Shit-I don't want any of this bullshit alright? I don't even work for Dominic." The man pleaded, still trying to get away.

"If you don't work for him then why where you getting papers signed for him the other day?" Matt questioned, stepping up next to you.

"It's a deal!" The man shouted, "I made a deal with him and that was me upholding to my part!" He sounded as if he was on the break of tears.

"What kind of deal?" You questioned, following Matt's questions.

The man paused, his breathing still heavy. "I can't tell you that, man." He shook his head. "If I tell you he-" the man began taking short breaths, panicking.

"He what?" You questioned, crouching down. "Listen, I know by the looks of it we seem like the bad guys, but I need you to trust us."

"Trust you?!" The man shouted. "You have me tied to a fucking boxing ring!"

"We could have handled it much worse, believe me." Frank said, gripping his gun tighter in his hands.

The man looked over at Frank, his fear just growing stronger as he did so. You gave Frank a look to take it down a notch before you looked back at the man. "Listen...." You paused, waiting for his name.

"Mort." The man said in a soft tone

"Mort." You nodded. "Dominic is the person we're after, not you. Whether you worked for him or not isn't my issue, people make mistakes, hell I've made plenty." Mort watched you as you spoke. Matt heard as his heartbeat became calmer, showing what you where doing was working. "But I need you to help us. We are talking the fate of millions of people here."

Mort's breathing picked up again as he looked between the three of you. "I want too, believe me I- I want to tell you but I can't." He shook his head.

Standing up, your face radiated disappointment. Frank saw the look on your face as he lifted his gun, placing it on the edge of Mort's jawline as he pressed it into his skin.

"I'm tired of playing nice withcha'." Frank sneered as he stood next to the man, still holding the gun up to him. "Tell us everything or I swear to fucking God this bullet will end up straight in ya head."

The man jerked away, trying to flea once again.

"Frank." Matt called out his name.

"Shut the fuck up, Red." Frank kept the gun to his head. "He doesn't wanna tell us, he's of no fucking use."

"I can't tell you because If I do he'll kill my wife and daughter!" Mort shouted, tears streaming down his face. "Please I'm begging you, I can't- he'll blow their fucking heads off!"

Your face became soft as you looked over to Frank, motioning for him to take the gun away from his head. Instant regret seeped on Frank's face as he backed away, leaving the ring for you and Matt.

You walked over to Mort, crouching down in front of him.

"I had someone that he took from me." You said in a soft manner. "She was my family and now she's gone. If you tell us everything we need to know, I guarantee I will keep your family safe even if it's the last thing I do."

Mort looked up at you. the tears now disappearing from the waterline of his eyes.

"I need you to trust I won't let anything happen to them." You pleaded. "I just want to keep other people safe from Dominic, and I can't do that if I have nothing on him." Mort's chest wasn't rising at the extremely fast pace it was before. "Please."

Mort's face looked to Matt, and then back at you. "He made a deal with me that if I worked for him for a bit that he would give me that Iscariot shit he was making." Mort spoke. "I live in a shitty neighborhood. My wife can't walk home alone, and my daughter can't play outside. I just wanna keep them safe, and I thought if I had those powers, I could keep them from getting hurt. So I took the deal."

You nodded as Matt spoke, "Do you know of anyone else who he made this deal with?"

Mort looked to Matt. "Nobody I can think of, but that doesn't mean there isn't more of them." He looked back to you. "He's stationed at a warehouse just west of here. Near the midtown precinct."

You offered him a small smile, "Thank you."

"Don't thank me, just keep my family safe." Mort said. "I trust the three of you can handle your shit. Just don't let me down."

"I promise you, we won't." You said as you stood up as Frank walked in from the gate, holding his gun at his side. You walked towards him, Matt following suit behind you.

"We have his location." You said to Frank as you looked between both him and Matt.

"Then what the hell are we waiting for? Let's get this bastard." Frank said as he began walking off, just as you grabbed his arm to stop him.

"This time when we do it, we don't do it my way." You looked over at Matt. "We do it Matt's way, nobody get's killed, just hurt."

Matt offered a small closed mouth smile to you. "Our way."

"Our way." You repeated.
