Hells Kitchen, New York
Christmas Morning
"Okay my turn!" Foggy said eagerly, reaching under the small tree the three of you had put up in him and Matt's dorm. The tree was lit with small red and green lights, just enough to bring a small burst of brightness to the bland room.
He was dressed in a matching Christmas set he had gotten him and Matt for today with reindeers and hot chocolate stamping the red fabric. Matt had refused to wear matching pajamas with Foggy, but after testing your arguing skills on him, he was now happily wearing them.
It had become a tradition for the three of you to spend Christmas together. Although visiting family was nice, Foggy and Matt where truly the only people you would want to do Christmas with. No arguing, just peace with friends.
It was early on Christmas morning. You had stayed the night at Matt's after Foggy insisted you all had one giant sleepover so as soon as he woke up he could open his gifts. The smell of gingerbread, pinewood, and hot chocolate lingered in the dorm room as snow fell softly outside, creating a white haze inside the room.
Foggy reached for the box with green and blue wrapping paper, shaking it like a child as he brought it to his lap.
Foggy always had a thing for Christmas ever since he was young, and spending it with his best friends made it grow on him even more.
"Whatever it is your gonna break it." Matt laughed, his arm wrapped around you as you leaned against his bed.
"Eh, it isn't fragile." Foggy waved his hand. "I can hear it moving." He said, sounding almost disappointed.
"Well don't act too happy, Foggy." You joked.
"You know what I mean!" He laughed, opening the box as a loud gasp escaped his mouth.
"I know you have been wanting that for a while so I thought I would-"
"No fucking way!" Foggy exclaimed. "Dude, she got me all the Star Wars movies! AND the directors cut? Holy shit." He looked at you, lunging forward as his arms wrapped tightly around your shoulders. "Thank you, Y/n!"
"Your welcome." You laughed, being strangled by the dirty blonde. "Just do me a favor and don't keep Matt up all night watching movies." You said with a smile. "You know sleeping beauty gets cranky when he doesn't get enough sleep."
"Oh I will, good luck dealing with him." Foggy nodded, looking over. "Well I think that's all-" He paused. "Guess not, spoke too soon." He reached forward for the medium sized box near the back of the tree. "To Ms. Y/n Y/l/N." Foggy said in a singsong tone.
"And that is from me-" He said, taking the box from Foggy, handing it to you.
"Oh you didn't have to, Mr. Murdock." You said jokingly as you placed the box down in front of you.
Foggy smiled to himself, "I know what this one is." He nodded. "Your gonna love this one."
"Don't spoil it for her, Foggy." Matt chuckled. "If I'm being honest, I'm surprised he's kept it a secret for as long as he has." He smiled.
"Is there like a hand in this box or something? You guys are scaring me." You said, opening the box that was covered in snowman wrapping paper.
You opened the box fully, revealing a doormat that had the words 'Nelson, Murdock, and Y/L/N: Avocados at Law' plastered in black letters across it.
"Oh my God, Matt." You laughed. "This is amazing. I don't think we can have this outside our office though." You chuckled.
"Well I figured it would go good in front of our apartment." He shrugged, a knowing smile appearing on his face.
You remained silent, cocking your head.
Matt reached behind him, grabbing a small box. He opened it, revealing the matching set of silver keys.
You looked up at him, a wide grin covering his lips. "Signed off on the place yesterday." He smiled. "We are officially apartment renters."
"Your joking!" You exclaimed, excitement fueling your veins. "We got the apartment?!"
"We got the apartment." He nodded, a smile wider then he thought he could have plastered across his lips.
"Matt, this is amazing! Thank you!" You laughed, wrapping your arms around his neck as you pulled him into a hug. Pulling back, you looked at Foggy. "You knew about this?"
"You don't understand how hard it is keeping a secret that big." Foggy let out a sigh of relief. "I swore if I had to keep it in any longer I would die."
You smiled, "Well thank you for not spoiling the surprise, Foggy." You looked back at Matt. "So...can we go see it?" You questioned with a hopeful smile.
"We can do whatever the hell we want with it, it's ours now." Matt smiled, standing up as he put his hand out for you. "Well, besides paint it ." He shrugged.
"Well then what are we waiting for! Let's go see our new apartment!" You said excitedly as you took Matt's hand and stood up, waiting for him and Foggy to follow behind you.
"I immediately regret putting these pajamas on." Matt said, referring to the matching set him and Foggy had.
"Nah, your just jealous you don't look as good as me." Foggy said as he followed you out of the apartment, Matt being in the middle of you both.
"Oh yes, I bet you just look jaw dropping." Matt said sarcastically. "It's been quite hard to be in the same room with you without wanting to tear those pajamas off." He laughed.
"Oh Jesus Christ, Matt." You chuckled, placing your hands over your face as you all walked out of the dormitory, heading to your new apartment.
Present time
Harlem, New York
"Oh my God." You groaned, throwing your head back. "This seriously taste so fucking good."
All three of you where sitting in a booth inside a random diner as far away as possible from your apartment. The diner was practically sweating itself as cheep plastic fans pushed like hell to give some relief to the customers.
You had promised to give Matt information as long as you got food first being that your hunger was first on the lists of things to get rid of.
"Okay, c'mon that's enough. Talk" Matt said, taking the burger from your hand.
He had completely changed into his suit, looking the same as when he first arrived in your apartment. Hair slicked back, glasses propped on the bridge of his nose, and his shirt somehow still looking freshly ironed.
"Let her eat." Frank sneered, taking the burger from Matt's grip and giving it back to you.
The waitress came around the corner, holding a pot of coffee as you put your mug out.
"Thank you." You said to the waitress with a sweet smile, turning back to Matt. "You sure you don't want anything?" You questioned, your voice muffled by food in your cheeks. "You always liked pie, I could order you some pie."
Matt shook his head.
"Oh come on, don't tell me your watching your weight." You complained. "You need fuel to keep that daredumpy of yours growing."
"We just fought a group of thirty men." Matt said, ignoring your comment.
"And won." You responded.
"Not if it wasn't for lieutenant screw loose over here." He nudged his head to Frank who had a mouthful of chicken pot-pie, and a defensive look on his face.
"Why don't we just kill him?" Frank suggested, his mouth full of food.
"Frank." You said in a warning tone, eyeing him. "He's just grumpy, he gets like this when he doesn't eat for long periods of time." You explained to Frank, earning an understanding nod from him.
"You could have mentioned to me that we would be fighting trained assassins before the butterfly knives started flying." Matt complained.
"I told you I needed help, didn't I?" You questioned, reaching your hand for the basket of fries.
Matt reached for your wrist, grabbing it. "You stole my suit and set me up."
You looked up at Matt, his hand still wrapped tightly around your wrist. "Okay, maybe I bent the rules a bit."
"Yeah no shit." He said, letting go of your wrist. "You've been lying to me since you got here-" He said, reaching his hand into the fries as he popped one in his mouth. "-And that ends now."
"Was he always this big of a prick?" Frank questioned, making both heads turn to him.
Matt had a confused look on his face, looking back to you. "Tell your boyfriend to bud out of this one."
"He's my friend." You sneered.
"I'm stayin' no matter what." Frank said, placing his fork down. "So get used to me red, cause I ain't going nowhere."
Matt looked back at you, "Explain everything, now."
You rolled your eyes, wiping your lips with a napkin. "God aren't you a bit pushy tonight." You complained, placing your napkin down. "A few months back before my trial I was out on patrol." You took a sip from your coffee. "I tracked down a sex trade and drug deal group and took them down. Sent their information into the police, got the guys arrested and the girls freed."
"So what does that have to do with this?" Matt questioned, his hand resting on the booth behind him.
"After all the guys where arrested, they refused to say anything about what had been going on." You said. "They told the officers they would rather die then give up any information on whatever group they where working with. Three days later, one man came forward telling one of the officers about what had been going on. The next day, both him and the officer where killed."
"And how do you know this?"
"Because I was there." Frank spoke up.
You turned your head from Frank, back to Matt. "Frank was serving time when this all happened. He's the one that told me." You paused, "Long story short, the guy who is in charge of all of this, his name is Dominic Phillips, he's the one-"
"Who killed your sister." Matt finished your sentence.
"Bingo." You pointed. "Dominic has been working on a new type of drug. Something called the Iscariot."
"The Iscariot?"
"Basically Heroine and cocaine on steroids." Frank said before taking another bite of his food.
"Okay, so he's making drugs." Matt shrugged, "It's New York, you know how many new types of drugs there are?"
"Stop being a smart ass and let me get to the point." You sneered. "This drug is..dangerous." You paused. "People who use this shit get the same strength as Captain America and the Winter Soldier, but much worse. Their senses are heightened, their skin becomes impenetrable, and it sends their adrenaline through the roof."
Matt took a deep breath, "So why did you blow up their building?"
"Really? I just gave you a rundown on a scary ass drug and you want to know why I committed arson?" You questioned, like what he just said was unbelievable. "God, your such a lawyer."
"Y/n." Matt said.
"Fine." You raised your hands defensively. "It was a basecamp and lab for their experiments. It was easier then me going in there trying to collect samples one by one." You grabbed a fry, "So I blew it up." You shrugged. "Now the guys are all after us. Guess I have a way of pissing people off sometimes."
"Yeah well, blowing up a building, that'll do it." Matt stated.
"Oh come on." You leaned against the table. "You needed some fun in your life, now we got an army of drugged up bitches coming after us." You shrugged, sipping from your coffee.
"No. Uh-uh. There is no us." Matt leaned closer to you. "This is strictly a you problem. You got yourself into this mess and now you need to get yourself out of it." Matt paused, "Why can't you just let the police handle this? Tell them everything you know."
"Because they won't do it my way." You said like it was an obvious answer. "Plus, that's a cowards way out, and we aren't a bunch of cowards. Aren't we Frank?"
Frank sipped from his coffee as he put his fist out to the side, fist pumping you as Matt rolled his eyes.
"Besides, your one to talk. Mr. Devil of Hell's Kitchen-"
"Keep your voice down." Matt placed his finger over your mouth, shushing you. "You can't fight these guys by yourself."
"Listen, I don't need you." You moved Matt's hand from your mouth. "If you don't want to be partners, I'll take care of it myself with or without you."
"Partners?" Matt scoffed. "I don't need a partner."
"Yes you do." You sat up, "And I could always use another partner. Frank although great at his job, can sometimes result to violence." You shrugged, "I could use a little catholic to even things out."
You paused, "Matt, you fight better then anyone I know. But I have information that you need." You slightly smirked, "We do this together, we get it done quick and easy, then I'm out of your hair for good."
Matt paused, all eyes where on him as you and Frank both awaited an answer.
"I don't know why I keep agreeing to your shenanigans." Matt mumbled to himself, shaking his head as it hung low. "Alright, fine. We work together, and we get this guy put away."
"Deal."
"And you leave me and my life alone for good." Matt pointed.
"The second it's over, I'm out."
You put your hand out for Matt to shake which he took, shaking it before you both dropped your hands down to the table.
"I do have one rule though." You said, sitting back into the booth. "No sex."
Matt scoffed, throwing his head back. "Oh my God." He leaned forward again. "You really got a pair on you."
"I know it's probably gonna be a struggle for you." You shrugged, "But this is just strictly business, Matthew."
Frank chuckled under his breath as he sat next to you, sipping from his coffee silently.
"I know it may come as a surprise to you, but in the ten years that you've been gone, I've moved on." Matt clasped his hands together in front of him as he spoke in a low and raspy tone. "For a matter of fact, I'm actually seeing someone right now." Matt leaned in, "And that's only part of the reason I would never start anything up with you again."
"Right." You nodded, raising your eyebrows. "Check please." You called out to the waitress.
Matt scoffed. "Your still an arrogant bitch."
"Just realistic." You smiled.
"Do you really think every man you meet wants to sleep with you?" Matt questioned.
You shrugged, "I mean so far they have." You looked over at Frank, "Er- most."
"Nah your still right." Frank said, making both heads turn to him as Matt's jaw twitched.
Matt turned his head from Frank. "We do this, we fight Dominic, we put him away, and-" He made a whistle, moving his hands up in the air. "Your gone, for good."
"Second it's over, I'm out." You stated, leaning against the table, keeping your gaze on Matt as the waitress placed the check down in the middle of the table.
Reaching your hand forward, you took the small booklet in your hands, opening it and placing a wad of cash in it.
"I'll take this up." Frank said, taking the book from your hands as he left the table, leaving you and Matt alone together.
"I have a question." Matt said, leaning back.
"When do you not?" You questioned.
"How where you able to pay be $35,000? Last I checked you where broke." Matt questioned, moving his arm back behind him on the booth.
"Money is money, the way I got it doesn't matter." You said, reaching over into your bag as you put your wallet away.
"It does if it's illegal-"
"Matt." You groaned.
"What? Do you really blame me for asking?" Matt questioned, leaning forward. "Since I've reconnected with you, you have ended up in jail, committed arson, threatened a guy, and almost murdered someone." He paused, "I have good reason to ask these questions."
"Everything I do to get my money is legal." You said. "Now would you stop trying to nail my ass for something illegal?"
Matt scoffed just as Frank walked up from the front of the restaurant, his head hanging low from exhaustion.
Frank wore a cap over his head, hiding the indication from a rather obvious beating he took God knows when. His shirt had occasional speckles of blood on it, leaving a darker red coating over the dark black shirt he wore.
"Ya ready?" Frank questioned.
"Please." You groaned, moving out of the booth. Looking back, you saw Matt who's face was slightly confused as he listened to you both move.
"What are you doing just sitting there? Let's go." You nodded your head to the door.
"Go where?" Matt questioned.
Harlem, New York
Luke opened the door, squinting one of his eyes as the dim light from the apartment hallway shone onto his face.
"Y/n?" Luke questioned, his voice indicating he was in a rather peaceful sleep for once in his life. "Why are you here? What's wrong?"
"Remember that favor I said you would owe me after I gave you Claire's number?" You questioned, wearing a small smile. "I kinda need to use it now."
Luke peered behind you at Frank and Matt. Matt was standing still with his cane in his hand, looking rather unamused as per usual. Frank was standing next to him with a still face, not moving a muscle.
"Who are they?" Luke nodded behind you.
"They uh..." You looked back, trying to think of some excuse but finding your thoughts running short. "Okay there's no way to sugar coat this," You pointed at Matt. "Ex boyfriend, vigilante, blind lawyer-" You pointed at Frank. "Work friend, assassin, ex war vet."
Luke looked down at you with a confused look. "You always find the weirdest shit don't you?"
"I like to say it's a specialty of mine." You shrugged.
Luke had a small smile lift the corner of his lips, "C'mon, get inside." He said, pressing his hand to your back as he moved you inside, keeping the door open for Matt and Frank.
"Place looks...feminine" You said, throwing your duffle bag on the floor as you turned back to Luke who was closing the door behind Frank. "Where's Claire?"
"On a trip." He responded, walking closer. "Went to go see her Grandma on the west coast." He crossed his arms over his broad chest, "So, are we just going to pretend you didn't just show up to my house at two in the morning with random guys? Or are we just gonna keep rolling with the small talk?"
You had a straight line smile, "I kinda pissed someone off."
Luke scoffed. "Yeah you tend to do that." He said, walking over the couch as Frank and Matt moved closer to you. "Who'd you do it to this time?"
You paused, your voice becoming softer. "Dominic Philips."
Luke's face lifted at the sound of the name as he nodded. "Well...yeah, you really outdid yourself on this one." He said quickly. "How the hell do you piss off Dominic Philips? It's kind of a known rule to stay away from him at all costs even for us vigilantes."
"He's a vigilante too?" Matt pointed, his voice raising.
"Not now, Matt." You pointed back at him before facing Luke again. "I know okay, and I didn't really think it would escalate this far but it did." You shrugged.
"What did you do piss him off?" Luke questioned.
You paused. "I kinda blew up his building."
"You said you didn't think it would escalate this far." He said over you repeatedly saying 'I know, I know.' "You blew up a guys building, how would it not escalate?"
"Well not all of us got the strength of the fucking hulk, Luke!" You argued. "I couldn't just punch him away."
"Sweet Christmas, Y/n." Luke said, placing his face into the palm of his hands.
"Listen, I know your probably pissed right now especially since you told me to leave you out of my shenanigans, but I need your help." You pleaded. "We just need a place to stay for a bit, until this whole thing is over."
"And how long is a bit?" Luke questioned.
"Three days max." You said. "C'mon Luke, we're friends." You begged.
He sighed as he looked behind you, then back at you again when he spoke. "Fine. Three days max," He pointed. "And I don't want a single word of this getting out to Claire. If she finds out I let two strangers into our place she'll kill me."
"Deal." You said with a relieved smile.
Luke had a tired look on his face, "I need sleep." He groaned as he stood up, walking towards the bedroom. "Night, Y/N."
"Night Luke." You called out, just as the door shut behind him, leaving the living room alone with you, Matt, and Frank.
"I'm gonna get some air." Frank said after a moment of silence with all three of you, grabbing his gun from his bag as he left through the front door, leaving you and Matt alone.
"Does he always bring a revolver with him to get air?" Matt questioned.
You walked over to the couch, plopping down. "In Frank vocabulary, getting air means going on a look-out." You said simply. "He's just doing it for me. He knows It'll calm me down if he's keeping watch."
Matt followed over, sitting on the opposite side of the living room on a recliner. "He's pretty protective of you."
"That's just Frank." You shrugged. "I think that watching over me is kind of a safety blanket for him. If he can keep me safe, it makes up for him not saving his family."
Matt took a deep breath, regretting what he said as soon as the words left his mouth. "Is that why your doing this?" He paused. "Finding Dominic, is that why your doing it?"
You scoffed. "Are you saying I should feel guilty?"
"No I'm not I'm just saying..." Matt sighed. "I know you. I knew you." He took a deep breath. "The day you where on the stands I heard it in your voice. I heard the regret I heard the guilt, I heard it all."
You eyed him as he spoke, knowing he was right, but being to stubborn to admit it.
"So be honest with me. Is that why your going after Dominic?" Matt questioned.
"I haven't slept good in ten years." You admitted. "I haven't stayed in the same apartment for more then a week, and Frank is the only person I have let myself draw close to." You looked at him. "I keep waiting for him to find me. I keep waiting for the day when Dominic or one of his toys will put a bullet through my head and kill me."
Matt felt a small pang in his heart. Although you where broken up and weren't able to remain anything other then enemies after the way things ended, he still felt guilt for not helping you. For not being there when you needed him most.
"He didn't hesitate to kill my sister, and she did nothing." You shook your head. "I'm not eager to find out what he'll do to someone who made his life a living hell and made him hide underground."
"He won't lay a finger on you." Matt said.
"But you don't know that, Matt."
"I do." He said, stopping the arguing. "I know that because I won't let him." He had something that looked like a small smile lip the corner of his lips. "Cross my heart." He said as he crossed his fingers over his chest.
You chuckled softly at his action. "Does that mean your serious?"
"You know what it means." Matt said, the look of a smile still there. Slowly though, the smile left his face as he cleared his throat, standing up. "I uh- I'm gonna go wash off."
"Yeah-" You pointed. "Just down the hall to the left."
Matt turned on his heel, leaving for the bathroom as the apartment became more quiet.
You watched Matt as he left, your mind racing at a million miles an hour.
I heard the regret, I heard the guilt, I heard it all
-++++++++-
"So why exactly are we walking three miles to a coffee shop? You know we passed like five already right?" Matt questioned.
"How do you know that?" Frank questioned as he turned his head to Matt.
"I can smell the coffee from outside." Matt said, making Franks face become confused. "You know, heightened senses and stuff." Matt explained, waving off the comment with his hand.
Shaking his head, Frank mumbled. "That's some weird ass shit, Man."
"This is the coffee shop that one of Dominic's men said he would meet one of the guys to sign off on a delivery." You said as you walked in the middle of Matt and Frank. "Figured we use Horton Hears The Who to ease drop on them." You referred to Matt.
"You both are just jealous I have abilities and you don't." Matt said.
"Jealous you can hear when people pass gas?" You questioned as you pushed the door open to the coffee shop. "No, no I'm not Matt."
When you opened the door you looked around as Matt and Frank followed suit behind you. The smell of coffee lingered in the air as chatter erupted around you all. Your eyes fell on a individual in the corner who wore a dark blue suit, a cufflink with a pitchfork moving as he typed swiftly on his laptop.
"Guy in the corner." You said, making both Matt and Frank face in your direction. "That's him."
"So what we just wait?" Frank questioned.
"Find a seat, I'll scope the place out, see if it's just him." You said, looking over at Frank. "Text me if anyone walks up to him." You said as you began to walk off, feeling your arm getting pulled back.
"I'm going with you." Matt said, his hand grasping your wrist.
"Matt, I am fully capable of handling myself." You argued.
"I'm going." He said in a darker voice, almost as if it was a warning.
"Jesus, fine." You said, pulling your arm from his grasp as you and him both headed to the back of the building.
As the sounds of chatter became less dominant, you made your way to the back of the building. You stopped just before you where about to walk in front of the entrance to another hallway, pressing your hand to Matt's chest to stop him.
"Can you hear anyone?" You whispered, you and Matt standing barely inches apart.
Matt listened for a minute, his head cocking slightly. "Two men blocking the door." He listened more carefully. "They have MP7's. Suppressors attached. They planned on something happening."
"No, they planned on me. Assholes think a suppressor will keep me quiet." You paused, "Remember what we used to do to get into fancy events in college?"
Matt sighed, unfolding his stick. "Yes. Sadly I do."
"I'm gonna need some better acting then that." You said, tying your hair up. "You ready?"
"Don't think I have much of a choice." He said, walking in front of you as he turned the corner down the hallway, walking slow as his stick tapped on the floor in front of him.
Both of the men blocking the door turned their heads towards Matt, lifting their guns to their sides.
"Hey man, you lost or something?" One of the men questioned, taking the safety off his gun.
"Oh my God, I'm so sorry." Matt said, sounding distressed. "I'm just trying to find the restroom. Do you mind showing me where it is?"
The man looked over to his partner who nodded.
"Just show him where it is, man." His partner said to him, sounding almost annoyed.
The man looked back at Matt. "Alright man, c'mon." He said as he put his gun back down, walking forward as Matt followed the sounds of his footsteps.
As soon as the man turned the corner and saw you, he instantly opened his mouth to talk, being cut short by your hand rushing to his mouth as you turned his back to your chest, placing him in a chokehold.
You waited until the man stopped kicking to gently place him on the ground.
"Tag team the other guy?" You questioned Matt who was folding his stick up. His suit jacket was pushed back by his hands on his hips, making his chest appear broader.
"Yeah.." Matt nodded. "Yeah, good idea." He said as he began to walk off, his actions being stopped by your hands on his arm.
"Did you just...say I had a good idea?" You questioned in disbelief.
"Oh God-" Matt groaned. "I take that back."
"No! You already said it- No take backs!" You whispered with excitement like a child.
You both turned the corner, walking towards the man who was standing in front of the door.
"Hey, what are you-" The man paused, his eyes raising. "Fucking shit-" He said quickly as he lifted his gun, aiming at you and Matt.
Before he could shoot you reached over, grabbing a metal plate as you threw it at his head, halting his actions.
You and Matt both ran over as you grabbed the man by the shoulders, ducking his head down as you kicked him in the face with your knee, tossing him over to Matt.
Matt grabbed him by the back of the neck, slamming his head into the wall as he fell to the ground flat, not moving.
You looked up at Matt who was standing in front of you, your eyes full of surprise.
"What?" Matt questioned, sensing your eyes on him.
"Nothing." You shook your head with your eyebrows raised. "Just...whatever possessed you to do that should definitely possess you more often."
Just as Matt was about to respond, your phone buzzed with a message from Frank. You pulled your phone from your pocket, reading over the large banner.
3 Missed Messages From Frank Castle
Frank Castle: Guy just approached him
Frank Castle: What are you doing fucking back there? Get your ass up here he's about to leave
Frank Castle: Y/n! Come on!
"Shit." You groaned as you placed your phone back in your pocket, heading towards the door, "He's leaving."
Matt grabbed you, "There is a full building of families out there, you cannot beat the shit out of him here."
"Who says I'm gonna beat the shit out of him?" You questioned, taking your hand back as you walked away. "Just follow my league." You said in a high pitch tone.
Matt groaned to himself as he followed you out. "I better not end up dead, Y/n."
"Oh for the love of Christ, Matthew." You said annoyed, walking into the main room where seats where filled with groups of people. "Put your arm around me and walk."
"What?" Matt questioned.
"No time for questions, just do it" You sneered.
With a heavy groan, Matt moved towards you, placing his arm around your shoulders as he brought you to his side.
Your eyes fell on the man in the dark blue suit who was heading for the door with a coffee and briefcase in hand. You looked at Frank, giving him signaling eyes to move in.
Frank walked in front of the door, blocking anyone from entering and leaving. He grabbed his phone from his pocket, scrolling randomly as the man approached the door.
"Excuse me." The man in the freshly pressed suit said, trying to maneuver around Frank. He cleared his throat, his tone more aggressive this time. "Sir, excuse me."
Frank kept moving around and looking down at his phone, staying completely silent.
The man spoke with anger this time, "Know what fine." He said aggressively, beginning to turn around just as you and Matt walked up.
You moved to the side, making the man spill his coffee all over Matt. A large brown circle covered Matt's shirt as it soaked through.
"Oh my God." You said with a exasperated voice, looking at Matt and then at the man. "You just spilled coffee on my boyfriend!"
"Ma'am-" He tried pleading.
"Don't Ma'am me!" You pointed. "You could have burned him!"
"I don't think I burned him." He shook his head.
You moved closer, pointing your finger. "Your just saying that because he's blind huh? You know how rude that is?" You questioned as your other hand balled into a fist, hitting Matt straight in the balls discreetly.
Matt bent over, his hands finding his knees as he let out a large uncomfortable groan. "Fucking shit-"
You looked at Matt, then back at the man, having to keep your smile at bay. "Look at him, he is in pain!" You said loudly. "That's it, I'm calling my lawyer." You raised your hands.
"No no no, Ma'am, I'm sure we can resolve this." He pleaded, just trying to get out of the shop.
"$10,000." You said simply.
The man raised his eyebrows. "What? That's ridiculous, I'm not paying you $10,000."
"Well go ahead and spend that money on a lawyer because I can guarantee you your gonna need a hell of a good one-"
"Fine." The man cut you off, his voice rapid and urgent. He groaned as he placed his briefcase on the floor, reaching into his pocket as he pulled out his checkbook.
You eyed Frank who reached into his bag, grabbing the copy of the papers he had signed off on. He lifted them from the bag quickly as he took them and walked out the door, unseen by the man.
"Here." He said, handing you the check.
You took it with a prideful smile. "Pleasure doing business with you." You said, grabbing Matt by the bicep. "Come on honey, let's get out of here before anyone else burns you." You said loudly as you and him walked out the door.
"You could have nudged me." Matt said, still in pain. "You didn't have to straight to punching me in the dick." He said as you walked towards Frank who was standing at he edge of the street.
"Well if I did that then I wouldn't get a good laugh out of it." You shrugged, "Acting industry is a jungle to survive in, Matthew." You said sarcastically.
Matt just rolled his eyes as you both made it to Frank. He handed you the paper, a confused look taking over his face when he saw you and Matt still attached.
"What took you both so long?" He questioned, looking at your linked arms.
You took the hint, looking down as you pulled away suddenly, bringing your hand to your back pocket.
"There where two guards in the back." You stated as you looked down at the piece of paper, trying to read over information as you spoke. "Both had guns."
"You okay?"
"Yeah we're fine." Matt said, making Frank's head turn to him.
"I was asking her, not you Red." He looked back at you. "You alright, Y/n?" He questioned.
"Yeah I'm fine." You nodded, reading over the paper. "Just uh....This dock, I know it." You handed Frank the papers back, "It's the same one I used to fight at."
"Fight at?" Matt questioned. "You where in a fight club?" He asked with concern.
"Just when I needed money." You shrugged.
"I asked you if the money you had was from legal jobs." Matt said. "Fight Clubs aren't legal, Y/n."
"They are if the cops don't find out." You looked back at Frank. "They're meeting at the docks tonight at 11. That's when the first shipment comes in."
"We get down there before they do, we can scope the place out a bit and take down any guards they have." Matt nodded as people moved around the three of you.
"Well..." Frank folded the paper up, placing it in his pocket. "Guess we got some plans tonight."
Hell's Kitchen, New York
11:13 pm
You, Matt, and Frank all where crouched down on top of a shipment container, watching as a black BMW rolled up besides the dim lit docks.
After hours of debating if your idea of getting Dominic off the streets was worth risking your life, you finally decided to leave Luke's apartment. Luke pleaded with you to let him go, saying he could act as your human shield. Despite his pleads, you said no, telling him to stay back and watch the apartment while you where gone.
Matt and Frank had proven themselves rather useful, despite their constant bickering. You had all managed to get past a group of about 15 men without a single scratch, heading straight for the shipment zone where Dominic would be.
Keeping your head low behind the barrier of the container, you watched as the car came to a stop.
"That's him." You said, hints of hesitation hidden inside of your voice.
"Then let's go." Frank said, attempting to stand as Matt's gloved hand stopped him.
"Wait." Matt said with a rasp in his voice. "You go down there now, your gonna get shot at by about twenty different men."
"Let em try, Red." Frank said, still trying to stand as you spoke.
"Frank, just wait." You said, looking at him. "Matt's right, you go down there and your gonna get shot." You looked back at the car. "Wait for my signal. I say when it's safe."
With a small sigh, knowing you where right, Frank crouched back down.
"I'm doin' it cause she said so, not because of you." He whispered aggressively to Matt.
"Of course you are, Frank." Matt nodded with a small scoff. "Cause you would do anything for her, right?" He said, hinting at a relationship.
"Know what, your lucky we haven't fucked." Frank sneered. "Cause' believe me if we did? Oh that shit would be rubbed right in your face." He scoffed. "Your just pissed because you can't get in bed with her huh? She ain't stupid enough to go back to your ass again, so move on."
"Would you both shut the hell up and stop bickering?" You questioned. "Listen, I don't have a dick, so I'm not sure how this whole dominance thing works." You waved your hand around. "But If you don't stop fighting with what is between your legs, rather then what's in your head, I swear to God It will not be pretty, Boys." You scolded.
Frank and Matt both let out small irritated grunts, facing forward again as your attention averted back to Dominic.
A crane lifted one of the shipping containers, hovering it over the water as it moved from the boat to the docking station.
Dominic stepped out of the car. His hair was neatly slicked back and he wore a white button up with a suit jacket.
"Listen for their guns. What do you hear?" You questioned Matt, your voice low.
"Same guns as earlier today. Suppressors are still there." His head cocked as he listened further. "They want things quiet."
"We'll be quieter." You said, reaching into your holster on your ankle as you pulled your knife out. "When I say so, jump down quietly." You whispered. "Thin out the heard before we get to Dominic."
"What happens when we get to him?" Matt questioned.
"You let me handle it." You said, moving back as Matt 'looked' in your direction.
Looking back at Dominic, you spoke. "Now."
Everyone fled with your words, jumping down from the containers as they landed on the concrete floors. Three men stood in front of dark blue shipping containers, holding guns to their sides as they kept a look out.
"I'll get the guy on the left, you get the guy in the middle." Matt said, standing close behind you.
"What about the one on the right?" You asked.
"Whoever beats the shit out of their guy first gets the last one." He shrugged, a small grin fading over his face, quickly disappearing7 as he spoke again. "When you said let you handle Dominic, what did you mean, Y/n?" Matt questioned.
"No time for talking, Matt." You said, rushing forward as you covered the man's mouth with your hand, keeping everything quiet.
Matt stayed for a moment, shaking his head. "The one time I don't want you to shut your damn mouth." He said irritated, lunging forward as he grabbed the man on the left by the neck, pushing him down to the ground as he slammed his head into the concrete.
You came around the back of the shipping container, seeing Matt stand up slowly. You had a small chuckle lift the sides of your lips.
"What are you laughing about?" Matt questioned.
"I'm sorry I just can't take you seriously in this." You referred to his costume. "You got a slutty devil at home for when your feeling scandalous?"
Matt shook his head. "Are you sober?"
"I'm moderately functional." You shrugged, turning the corner as you grabbed the last guard by the shoulder, tossing him to the ground as you grabbed your knife, stabbing him in the shoulder as you covered his mouth that elevated screams.
"So I take that as no." He said, grabbing the man by the collar as he punched his fist into his face, sending him into the ground.
You both where met by Frank who had turned the corner behind you.
"Everything's clear." He looked behind him. "Just took care of a group of guys."
"Good." You nodded, walking closer. "Then let's go get our reward, shall we?" You questioned, just as your arm was pulled back by Matt.
"Y/n, if your thinking on doing what I think you are-" Matt said, his body radiating heat off yours.
"Matt." You said simply. "I can handle myself. I appreciate you trying to look out for me, but I don't need you to save me on this one, Devil Boy." You pulled your arm back.
"Y/n." Matt said as you walked off, making your head turn back. "Stick to the plan."
"Search the area again. Make sure nobody comes near us." You ignored his comment as you spoke, walking away from the containers as you made your way to Frank.
You and Frank hid behind a large container, waiting as Dominic got word his men where down.
"Search the area, find her." He said angrily, placing his phone back in his pocket as his men scoundrel the area, leaving him alone.
Frank lifted his gun as he repeated the usual rhyme he did before he shot at someone. looking back at you he said. "Just tell me when." lining the gun up with Dominic.
You waited a moment, watching Dominic as he looked around, the small hint of fear covering his face like a mask.
"Now." You said, the sound of gunfire going off as a bullet hit Dominic straight in the side. A heavy scream filled the air as Dominic fell to the ground, his hand rushing to his side as blood gushed like a river.
You walked out from behind the container, your hand balled into a fist as you walked closer.
"Well no fucking-shit- way." Dominic said, his voice hiding pain. "If it isn't my sister in-law? Or would have been at least."
You walked up to him, hitting him across the face with your fist as he fell completely to the ground. He had a small burst of laughter escape his mouth as blood dripped from the inside of his cheeks.
"Oh somebody is mad tonight." He said, just as you lifted his head by your hands wrapped around the collar of his shirt. "Whatcha' come here to do? Scare me?"
"You took something from me." You said, anger fueling your veins. "A very important thing."
"Oh just get to the point, darlin'." He groaned as Frank walked up behind you, lifting his gun to Dominic's head.
"Shut ya damn mouth man, or I swear I will blow ya God damn brains." He said, hitting his head with the front of the gun.
"Oooh, you gotcha self a scary bodyguard?" He questioned. "Should have gotten your sister one of those." He laughed. "She was in so much pain. Scared shitless too." He laughed harder.
You punched him from side to side with your fist, watching as blood escaped his cheeks and filled the white shirt he wore. His gun fell from his hands as he toppled to the side. You kicked him repeatedly as tears streamed down your face, the sight of his blood only making things worse for you.
You grabbed the knife from your holster as you placed your knee on his chest, holding it over his head. Frank stepped back and watched, hearing as footsteps came closer to you both.
"Y/n!" Matt yelled. "Stop! You aren't like this, don't do it!" He spoke through nerves, stepping closer slowly.
"Damnit, Red! Let her do it!" Frank yelled. "She lost everything! Let her have this!"
You watched Matt as he stepped closer, tears still streaming down your face.
"You do this, and you are just as cruel as he is." Matt said. "You are a caring person, you wouldn't do this if you where thinking right."
You shook your head as tears rushed harder down your cheeks. Your hands shook with the knife in your hand.
"If you do this, you aren't the person I know." Matt had his hand out. "You aren't the person I loved."
Just as Matt's words escaped his mouth, the sound of a gun going off took over the noise. You looked down at Dominic, seeing he was still alive, the only blood being from your beatings to his face.
Looking further down at your stomach, you saw a patch of red moisture seeping through the new hole in your shirt.
"Tell your sister I said hello." Dominic said, the gun falling from his hands as he passed out.
You looked over at Frank and Matt who rushed towards you, yelling your name. You fell to the ground, feeling every nerve in your body scream for help.
"Hey hey hey! It's okay, I'm right here." Frank said, his voice shaking. "C'mon, stay with me." He said, grabbing your hand. "God damnit, Red!" He shouted.
"Y/n!" Matt said, his hands moving to your face as you saw his face without his mask. He was nervous, and his eyes where moving from side to side as he spoke. "It's okay, I'm right here." He said as he breathed heavily. "I- I'm so sorry." He said as he buried his face to your neck. "I'm so sorry." He repeated again.
Your name was called more and more through the next couple seconds, until finally your eyes shut and your body grew cold despite the alarming heat. Everything around you became slow as Matt and Frank lifted you up, rushing back to the car.
And the next thing you knew, Everything became black.
