Chapter 20 - The Devil has a Devilish smirk

My parents and brother stayed for the weekend and everyday Callahan would come and not to mention, sometimes the others crashed as well.

While Gretarioth and Droy would take Andrew with them for a city tour, Miory and Callahan took my parents and me for a tour. As promised, Droy and Gretarioth took Andrew to their world famous gaming competition where the trio ended up winning a grand prize of cash. We all were happy and astounded.

Overall, my weekend was amazing and my family somehow liked them more than me. Those devils certainly knew how to win over people's hearts.

This morning, they took a flight back as I stayed home and felt homesick. I sat on the couch with a pillow on my lap and my thoughts running everywhere. I was missing them already.

"Don't worry, we will be going there." Callahan said as he was making me breakfast and not to mention, he was naked--half naked, again.

As he cut vegetables and meat, his biceps and triceps moved and I looked away to stop my strange thoughts in my mind. I dumped my face on the pillow then looked up again.

He turned around and took some spices from the drawers above him. Damn his back muscles!

"Can't you put on some clothes?" I asked.

Callahan turned around and asked, "Why? Is it distracting you?" He gave a grin which made brows twitch. Well, he wasn't wrong. It was distracting me. Sort of.

"Never!" I shouted, "Just put on some clothes."

"No." He replied, "It is the best way to distract you so..."

"Wait! What do you mean?"

"Well, don't you always think of naughty things when I'm not wearing a shirt?"

"Of course not!"

His grin broadened and grumbling I got up as I left to take a bath as I needed to reach the office. I went to my room and took my clothes, then I entered the bathroom.

After shower, I came back to find Callahan wasn't there but he had prepared breakfast with a side note.

I took the note and it was written, 'I will come back to pick you up. Be ready at 9' with a smiley but it had two horns and a tail. I smiled to myself as I sat down to have my meal.

I wore my beige pencil skirt and white shirt as I kept my hair in a bun. I was ready and was about to lock my apartment when a voice whispered in my ears, startling me. "You smell nice."

"Don't scare me like that!" I said breathlessly, clutching my hands on my chest.

He grinned.

We came down and I saw he had brought a new car. A black BMW. "Just how many cars do you have?"

"Just name your favorite one. I will bring it tomorrow." He said as his face became smug.

"No thanks, I am fine." I went toward the car door when he reached it with longer strides and opened the door for me. Of course, his smile never left his devilishly handsome face which made a warning sound blaring in my head.

"Why the privilege?" I asked, my gaze turning doubtful. Callahan felt happy. Extremely happy, to be precise. And when he is happy, there is something going on in that evil head of him.

"Oh! You wound me, Carson." He feigned a painful expression and added, "I am just being nice to you as a boyfriend should be."

"Unhun..." I nodded as I entered the car but my suspicious gaze never left him.

He sat on the driver seat and started the engine as we left for my office. The whole time I was wary because I had expected something would happen but didn't. At least not now as we reached the building without any problem.

As usual he opened the door for me, making every pedestrian jealous and as I came out, he gave me a peck on my lips which made my heart pump all the blood to my ears.

"D-don't do it here!" I said through gritted teeth.

"So you prefer to do it behind closed doors?" He grinned. "I don't have a problem."

"That's not what I meant!"

His grin broadened as he said, "Off you go, my lady. I will come to get you."

I entered my office building where everyone was talking, glancing at me and whispering.

I went to the lift and saw Mr Anderson was entering as well. As soon as his eyes caught me, he held the lift.

"Thank you, sir." I entered.

"You're welcome." He said and the lift doors were closed. There were only three of us and no one was engaged in a conversation. It was quiet and soon the doors opened on the sixth floor and the woman left.

The doors closed and now there were only the two of us. A strange silence fell on us and I moved my eyes on the lift as I saw, Devis was watching me with his intense gaze through the lift's walls. I gulped.

Why did I have to be alone with him? Then I recalled Mr Denver's warning. My heart thumped and to pretend that it was a normal ride to our floor, I took out the phone and endlessly scrolled on it without any hints of what to see.

"Carson..." Devis called. I snapped my head up and asked, "Yes, sir?"

"Did you get my message today?" He asked and I looked at him with a pair of questioning eyes. Did he send any message?

"I may haven't..." I looked at my phone screen and said, "Let me see it now."

I always checked my messages but today I forgot because of certain incidents.

"Well, it is not something important but..." He said as I opened the message and saw it was written 'Good morning, Carson."

He had been sending so many good mornings lately. Well, a good habit if I may add. I said smiling, "Good morning to you too, sir."

He nodded but didn't say anything as we reached the eighteenth floor. As usual, once again the day went with a lot of files, a lot of compliments for nailing the contract and a lot of glares directing at me from Emily.

It was already lunch and I was about to go to the cafeteria when a message came. I opened it and it was from Devis. It said, 'Come to my office, now.'.

I looked at it for a moment. Had I forgotten to give any document? The one on which I was working right now, I was expected to give it before leaving and the rest, I had already sent him. And besides, if he needed anything he could have called me on my landline.

I shrugged as I was hungry so I thought let's drop by before grabbing my lunch.

I took my bag and went to his office room as I knocked.

"Come in."

I went inside and asked, "Did you need the document now?"

He shook his head and said, "No. You can give it when you are done. Why don't you take a seat?"

I nodded warily and went ahead recalling the previous experience. I took a seat and looked at him while he got up and I was about to get up when he placed his hands on my hands which were on the arms of the chair.

"S-sir?!" I stiffened as my voice became a bit breathy. My heart was banging in my chest as he said, "Oh, c'mon, Carson. How many times do I tell you to call me Devis?"

"Well, we are in the office so..."

He balanced himself on the table before me and bent his back toward me as his face neared. "Carson. I have been meaning to tell you that... The moment I saw you in the bar, I couldn't get you out of my head."

My round eyes stayed on him as I breathed heavily. By now, my surroundings were blurred and distant while his glinting eyes looked at me intensely. I gulped as I said in a weak voice yet in a formal tone, "If you need any official document then please tell me."

I didn't want to ruin my official image as well as his. He was my boss and I didn't want to indulge in any kind of relationship other than a formal relationship.

My hands and legs froze as he kept saying, "Oh, please. This is not even the working hour. It is lunch time."

"T-then I should go have my lunch and you should too." I nodded stiffly.

His face neared dangerously close as I could feel his breaths on my skin which made all of my inside howled. He said, "I know you have a boyfriend but...why not spend some time together? With me?"

My voice caught in my throat and panic flooded in my cells as I managed to squish out some words. "I-I can't."

"Why not?" He showed a pained expression.

"You are my boss and I don't want to ruin my relationship with you." I somehow managed to voice out my thoughts.

"Nobody would know. What's the problem?"

"That's not the issue here, sir. I don't want to do it."

"I see. Trying to get my attention in a hard way, aren't you?" He smirked which made me puzzle. "I like it."

"What?"

"Carson, you should not hide that body of yours in these boring clothes. You were looking mesmerizing and oh! I so wanted to have you right there." He said as his grip tightened and I yelped.

"P-please, sir. I don't want to get into an affair with my boss." I pleaded as right now my eyes brimmed with tears. I was scared and I wanted to shout but my voice wouldn't allow that.

"Oh, it won't harm you. I may reward you with some increments."

Right there I felt I was so useless because still then I was thinking of his reputation and the company's future. My future. I knew if I lost this job it would take me quite a while to get another one and I couldn't afford that. I didn't want to go back to live in my hometown and I didn't want to ruin my image. I didn't want to do it with him. I was scared shit but I wouldn't scream as my breath hitched. My whole body shook and I wanted to stop it anyhow.

"Please. I don't want to ruin my image." I blurted out.

"Image? What image do you have to ruin?" He scoffed, "Oh! You are making it hard for yourself. There is nothing to think about, Carson. It is a good offer."

"No!"

Now his body shook in anger as his patience was running low. "What is this? You wore that slutty dress and seduced me. Now you are trying to act all innocent?"

I looked at him with tear filled eyes and thought, just because of a revealing dress he was attracted and now he was accusing me that I seduced him? Why?

Yes, I was against it when Callahan made me wear it but at some point I wanted to try those. Not for anyone but for myself. What was so wrong with wearing a short dress? Just because it was above my mid thighs, was it enough to call me a slut?

Callahan saw me naked yet he hadn't even made a move on me yet Devis lost it with just that?

I looked up at him, now my tears had stopped and my face bore an expression that said I was disgusted with him. My face heated with anger as I said, "I would never seduce a man whore like you."

And I bashed my head on his face with all the power I could muster. A cracking noise came as he immediately left my hands and clasped his nose.

He stepped back in pain as blood came out from his nose and he said, "I-I will ruin your career!"

"A wishful thinking but I am afraid that won't be happening. Not in my watch." A voice came from behind me and I snapped my head back and saw Callahan standing by the door with his usual devilish smirk.
