Chapter three

Chilling on my mattress texting Juliet telling her my experience today with my first possible enemy while searching for great wall colors for a teenage room. There are great ideas for a bedroom but I don't have the money so I continue on but still save those inspirational ideas for what I could add in my room. I got a facetime call from Juliet and I answered immediately. Juliet is already cursing her for her actions when we both don't know her. I laughed hysterically at her reaction.

"Tell this bitch that she's messing with the wrong person!"

"Damn right. I'm not scared of her boyfriend, hell I don't even know her boyfriend."

"Who does she think she is threatening you about messing with her? I bet she can't even take care of herself let alone threaten people because of her boyfriend."

I laugh at her remark. "And this is why we are friends."

"I know. You tell me these things and I insult them, that's how it works."

"Well I believe I already made an enemy and I haven't started school yet. I haven't been here for twenty four hours yet."

She chuckles. "Yeah."

I sigh knowing that my time is up. "I must be going. I start my first day of school in the morning."

"Oooh, have fun girl! I know you'll rock it!"

"Thank you Juliet, you're the best."

"Thank you."

I smile as I end the call. Plugging my phone in, I fell asleep thinking of scenarios about tomorrow.

-

My first night in the new home and I hardly got any sleep. The mattress wasn't comfortable and the blanket was too thin so I was freezing all night and I'm not sleeping in the basement. Now I'm walking to school in the cool air shivering my ass off. I should have brought a jacket.

I come up to the school grounds glancing around the school yard. Students are filing into the school with a few groups of friends scattered in the yard. Taking a deep breath I start walking towards the doors.

When I get in people crowd the hallways with loud chatter and not moving to get to classes. I have to find the office in the crowded school. I weave my way through the hallway when I get shoved into lockers by two boys who seem to be fighting. Slithering away I managed to get free from the crowd. Breathing I turn a corner to come down a hallway with little students. However, one group of kids, assuming they'd be the druggies since they're away from the rest of the school. I leave them to it when I turn back from where I came from going the opposite direction.

"Excuse me, where is the office?" I ask a group of kids. They gave me a look of disgust and left, leaving me astounded. "Great, this is gonna be hard fitting in," I mumble.

I kept asking around until the bell rang which I cursed myself for not finding the office. As the kids file in the classrooms I scurry around attempting to find the office when a teacher walks down the hallway.

"Excuse me?"

He turned around to acknowledge me when I asked where the office was.

"It's down that way, turn to your left and it should be on your right."

"Thank you."

"No problem. I take it you're new."

"Yes I am."

"Well you better hurry, class is starting."

I thanked him once again hurrying down the hallway towards the office. When I entered I noticed immediately the contrast between the rest of the school to this. The school is bright and cheery with thousands of lights brightening the way, whether it's natural light or light bulbs, while the office is dark and gloomy. Blinds block the light from shining in but the only lights are the ceiling lights and the walls are a light shade of gray which makes it even worse. I cautiously walked up to the lady at the desk.

"Hello, how may I help you?"

I'm stunned but not at the question. However the tone she questioned in. She sounded like she hates her job, just got a divorce from her husband and her kids won't visit her.

"Umm, I'm new here and I came for my schedule."

"Name?"

"Jayleen Hensley."

"Right." She types away on her computer when the printer goes off. Grabbing the paper she hands it to me. "Thank you."

She grunts not caring. I turn around walking out the office not wanting to be there a second longer.

I stop to look over my new schedule. I had History first so I made my way towards the classroom. First day and already late to class, perfect.

Luckily, the door was open so I walked in and stopped dead in my tracks when every kid turned towards me. Oh fucking great.

The teacher stopped writing on the board and turned to me when I realized it's the same teacher I met in the halls.

"Ahh, you're the new girl right?"

"Yeah."

"What is your name?"

"Jayleen Hensley."

"Welcome Jayleen. I'm Mr. Rodrick. Please have a seat." I nod turning towards the students searching for a seat. I found an empty seat at the back corner so I made my way towards it. Placing my bag beside the desk I sit and pull out my notebook beginning to write whatever was on the board. The class continued.

"Pst." I ignore it. "Pst!"

I continued to ignore it when someone poked my shoulder. Glancing towards the culprit I glare at him for disturbing me. The first thing I notice is his bangs are dripping over his eyes and his messy platinum blonde hair falling over his shoulder. "Hey new girl."

"What do you want?" I whisper.;

"To tell you that coming fashionably late isn't cool."

"Thanks dude."

"No problem. Say, what's your name again?"

"Jayleen."

"Jay."

"No, it's Jayleen."

"Well Imma call you Jay."

"Fine then. What's yours?"

"Rudy."

"Short for Rudolph?"

"Yes, my parents are obsessed with the reindeer from the movie."

"Don't worry, I think your name is wonderful. I haven't met any Rudys yet."

"Well I'm honored to be your first Rudy, Jay."

I smile and nod when Mr. Rodrick hands out worksheets. I pay more attention to the worksheet than Rudy now because I want to start off strong, not a bad start.

-

Lunch has arrived and I'm already exhausted from all the work I've received. Walking into the cafeteria, I realized that I'd never find a table. Every Table is filled with students, each corresponds with their group of friends. The Jocks, the artistics, the band kids and most importantly, the cheerleaders and the football team.

Great.

Leaving the cafeteria I find the library to eat in while I finish my homework. Passing by the bathroom I realized I needed to go. I stop by the bathroom I found earlier and also find the druggies from before. Ignoring them I walk into the bathroom and immediately I feel an eerie presence. I drop my bag looking around the bathroom, I realize it's the trans bathroom with several stalls. The entrance I walk is beside the sinks. Walking towards the mirrors, I see something that I probably shouldn't have. A young face appeared with a cut from his eyebrow all the way down to his nose. I was horrified as blood gushed out of the wound. His charcoal black hair sticking to his forehead from sweating. Then the face changed into an older guy with the scar in the same place as the young boy's cut. His short trimmed beard and his charcoal black hair sticks out from his chai coloured skin. He smiled an eerie smile like he's planning on commiting murder.

I stepped back from the mirror shaking from the image I just saw. The face disappeared when the druggies interfered. "Hey, miss! You're not supposed to be in here," one of them stated.

I close my eyes, shaking my head. I look at them questioning what they just said.

"No one has ever been in that bathroom for years. You should get out," another said about to sniff whatever substance she has.

"Umm, thanks."

I picked my bag up and ran out of there. On the way to the library I stopped by another bathroom but avoided the mirrors. Throughout the rest of the lunch, I thought about the young boy, who looked to be sixteen, and the man who looked to be in his late twenties, early thirties. The scar and the cut on his handsome face is what drew me in. They must be the same person, right? No one could have the same cut in the exact same place. I wonder what happened to him?

How the hell did he get that massive cut?

Who is he?

Why hasn't anyone been in that bathroom in years?

I have so many questions.

The warning bell rang so I packed up and went to class.

-

When I got home Mom was cooking in the kitchen. It smelled nice. Dropping my bag by the door I walk into the kitchen with my mom putting something in the oven.

"Hi Mom."

She turns around happily to see me home. "Hey honey, how was your first day of school?"

"It was good."

"Did you find your classes alright?"

"Yeah, a little trouble but I managed."

"Did you make any friends?"

I thought about Rudy not sure if we're friends yet, or at all. "Kind of."

"Oh. Well it is only the first day so maybe tomorrow you'll make friends."

"Yeah."

"What about that girl you met yesterday?"

"No, I haven't seen her today."

"Oh that's too bad."

"Yeah." No it isn't too bad. I'm glad I didn't run into her today but I doubt it'll last long.

"Can you please set the table? It's just the two of us tonight. Your dad is working late."

"Okay," I mumble. The TV played quietly in the background as I finished my homework in the living room.

"Dinner's ready," Mom called from the kitchen. Leaving everything where it is I walk into the kitchen to Mom bringing the chicken casserole to the table. I dish myself up before digging in. I love Mom's cooking. It's always delicious.

"So, Mom, what does dad do?" I never knew what dad does for a living exactly. All I know is he works for a major company that I never heard of.

"He works for this company to make lives better."

"So charity?"

"Not quite. He does all of these things to support the lives of the citizens for better living standards."

"Okay. Is this why we moved here?"

"Partly. It's closer to his work and the company starts off small before working towards cities."

"Okay."

-

As I layed in bed I couldn't get that guy out of my mind. The way he smiled creepily at me like he's planning on something. That scar I can't fucking get out of my mind.
