Chapter eleven

Thank god the weekend has arrived. This week has been very stressful and chaotic. I met up with Rudy the next day to catch up on what I missed. According to him, as soon as I left with Reed and Rocky, the police and the ambulance came and took away the bodies.

Everyone was instructed to gather their things and go home at once. They were looking for me and had called my parents to notify that I was missing. Let's say that I was in trouble the next day. On top of that some kid decided to record the whole thing so it was on the news the next day. School was canceled for the rest of the week and possibly next week. Teachers sent out an email to work on the assigned work until we get back.

Every staff and student from the school was questioned and I was no exception. I could only answer as much as I could without giving away too much detail. If I told them that I made a deal with Reed to protect me from danger and that Quinn and Jessica, and Ella were hurting me, then they'd think I'm crazy and making an excuse.

I was questioned for the next two days about Quinn, Jess, and Ella. It was brutal.I refused to talk for the first little bit but eventually caved in to answer some questions, not all. If I wasn't being questioned then I was doing homework. They had given me my school stuff that I had left there which was good.

Since that day, I haven't seen Reed either. I hope he's okay. Rocky's been with me and my family. At first my parents didn't like the idea but I begged them that it was necessary to have him here. I told them I found him on the side of the road when I "disappeared." Eventually they gave in and said that I have to take care of him which I'm fine with.

Currently, I'm on the back patio reading with Rocky laying at my feet. My peace was interrupted when Mom came out.

"Honey, there's someone here to see you."

"I swear if it's another cop . . ."

"It's not."

"Stay here." I told Rocky. I forgot to mention, when I was being interrogated, Rocky stood by my side and nearly bit off one of the cop's face. That was the last time he was allowed to come with me when I'm out. I had to go out to buy a sorry present for the cop so I wouldn't get charged.

I heard voices in the living room. When I walked in, the familiar face I so badly wanted to see. "Juliet!" I ran to hug her. It was nice to see a familair face that I can count on without targeting me.

"Jayleen, I missed ya."

"I missed ya too. Oh my god I can't believe you showed up!"

"Told ya that I was going to come."

"I'm so glad you did!"

"I was thinking we could go around town for a bit. I saw this really nice coffee place we could visit."

"Of course you girls can, just stay close to each other and be careful." Rocky trotted in.

"You guys have a dog? And you didn't tell me?"

"Well, kinda. He's a foster dog."

"Oh I see." Rocky trotted to her and sat in front of her tilting his head. "Hey boy." She patted him and surprisingly he's not growling. In fact, he licked her. I'm shocked that he isn't biting her face off.

"He's never been calm with anyone before, apart from me."

"Really?"

"Yeah, he almost bit off a cop's face."

"Ooh, you must love violence," she cooed. "Well, we better get going."

"Let me get ready first." I ran upstairs, gathered my money and phone and changed my pants. I ran downstairs to Juliet playing with Rocky. I watch the sight in front of me.

"Well buddy, I must get going. Hopefully I'll see you later." She stands up from the couch ready to go. "Ready to go?"

"Yes." We left the house to walk on main street where all of the shops and restaurants are. However, we didn't get past the driveway before Mom shouted to bring Rocky with us. We turn to see him running towards us with his tongue sticking out.

We continue our way into town catching up with each other.

Currently, we are in the coffee shop resting. We took the window seat so I could watch Rocky. He wasn't coming in here anytime soon. Actually we tried but the employee said he wasn't allowed in so we kicked him out. He's walking back and forth watching us before lying down. Then he repeats. We looked around shops, Juliet bought a couple souvenirs to remind her from Blackburn. I bought a couple shirts for my wardrobe. I needed something new anyway.

We sat in silence looking out into town. I sipped my coffee unaware that someone had sat down at our table.

"Hello ladies." The voice got my attention. I turned my gaze over to the man I thought I'd never see again.

"Hey, Mr. Chandler," I greet.

"Please, call me Tristan."

"Hello, Tristan," Juliet says, drinking her beverage.

"What brings you here?" I question.

"I was stopping by to make sure everything was okay. I own this cafe and I'm positive your Mom works here?"

"She does."

"Do you own small businesses like this?" Juliet asks.

"Oh yes. I own a lot of small businesses like this. A lot in this town and some in the city."

"That's nice. I bet your company is huge."

"Oh it is. You wouldn't know how massive it is from over the years. I've had a lot of help and your father has a big part in it. You should be proud that your father is a successful man."

"I'm proud all right."

He glances down at his watch cursing quietly. "I must be going. A new project is being created and it will change the world. You two ladies have a good day."

"You too," we say simultaneously.

"He's creepy," Juliet says after he leaves the cafe.

"Agree. I don't know why he would sit with us."

We watch outside seeing Tristan hadn't left the area but in fact was glaring at Rocky. "Juliet . . . I think we should go."

"Yeah." We quickly gathered our things and went out to Rocky growling at Tristan.

"Rocky! Rocky, come here!" Still growling at him, he walked towards us. "Sorry about that," I apologize to Tristan. We left after that with his 'okay' echoing behind us.

"I don't like that man. He gives me the creeps," Juliet replies once we were out of ear shot.

"I don't like him either. Something about him is off and I can't pinpoint it."

"Well, whatever it is, don't worry about it."

We walked back to my house after that. Juliet told me she had to get going as her parents wanted her back by mindight. I'd say it's a long drive to do a day trip but apparently she got up early to come. I needed this day with her and I'm glad she came. Once we got back, we said our goodbyes and I watched her drive away. Rocky and I went inside the house. When we got in I heard the TV upstairs. Locking the door I stopped by my parents room to tell them I'm home then went to my room. A little surprise was waiting for me when I entered.

Reed was sleeping in my bed, ontop of the covers. He was curled up in his robe sleeping peacefully. I grabbed my pajamas and went to the bathroom to get ready. When I return he was still sleeping with Rocky laying beside the bed resting.

Turning off the light I crawled over him into bed. As soon as my head hit the pillow, I was out like a light.
