Chopper
I watch Zoro practising using weights instead of his swords, only then to realize the wraps around his bottom legs just above the ankles.
"Zoro?"
"What?"
"What happened to your legs?" I ask.
"I was trying to cut them off so I could save everyone."
"W-what?!" I shout. "Why didn't you tell me?! Stop and sit down so I can heal you!"
"I'm fine," he responds.
"If you don't sit down to let me heal you right now, I'm going to fling you off this ship," I threaten.
He scoffs. "I'd like to see you try."
I grab him above his wounds by the ankles and hold him over the edge of the ship in one quick sweep. "Don't. Tempt. Me."
"What are you doing?!" Zoro shouts. "Are you crazy?! Let me up!" He squirms.
"If you squirm I'm going to drop you," I say.
"Okay! I'll let you heal me! Just let me up!" Zoro shouts.
I let him on board, and we sit down. "That's more like it."
"Jeez, you're unusually strong for such a scrawny girl."
"I may be small, but I'm not scrawny!" I shout at him. "And I can still kick your ass! Now, unwrap those bandages."
"Okay, sheesh," he scoffs, unwrapping the bandages.
"Jeez, you almost cut them clean off," I inquire. "How the hell are you still able to stand?"
He shrugs. "Willpower."
I roll my eyes with a chuckle. "Whatever." I grab the short knife from my side and slide it across my hand, smoothing it over his cuts.
"Your hands are really warm. Like hot," he says.
"That's just my burning passion to heal you," I joke.
"Smartass," he chuckles.
"Hey, you started it with that willpower shit," I fuss, finishing healing him. "There. All healed." I use the wraps to wipe off the access blood.
"Thanks," he says.
"Now, don't do something so damn stupid next time," I scoff.
I see from the corner of my eye Nami fall to the floor.
"Nami?" I call out to her and rush over.
"You're burning up," Vivi says, feeling her head. "Hey everyone, come quick!"
"What's wrong, Vivi?" Luffy asks.
"Nami has an awful fever," Vivi says.
"WHAT?!" Sanji shouts. "Nami's sick?!"
We get her down into her room in her bed. Sanji's crying like a little bitch, Luffy and Usopp are staring hard at Nami's face, Nami's breathing heavy, Vivi's putting a cold rag on Nami's forehead, and Zoro's navigating upstairs.
"Fia, you're the doctor, do something," Luffy says.
"I'm not the doctor! I already told you that!" I shout at him, punching him in the head. "But... I can do one thing." I move over to sit behind Nami, putting my hands on either side of her head. "I can reduce her fever."
"What? How?" Vivi asks.
"Ssh," I hush her. "You need to be quiet. I need to concentrate to do this."
"To do what?" Luffy asks.
"What a-are you doing, beautiful?" Sanji sniffles.
I sigh agitatedly. "I'm going to transfer some of her heat to me."
"You can do that?!" Luffy, Usopp, and Vivi shout.
"That's so cool!" Luffy shouts.
I sigh. "I can, but her body will keep remaking heat, so I'll have to constantly come down here to take it down."
"Listen, I'm fine..." Nami says, sitting up.
"Yay, she's cured!" Luffy cheers, resulting in Usopp to smack the back of his head.
"Go to my desk, open the second drawer," Nami says. "There's a newspaper in the bottom."
Vivi gets it and reads it. Her face shifts into worry. "No, that's not possible," Vivi gasps.
"What's up? Something wrong?" Luffy asks.
"Is it about Alabasta, tell us," Sanji says.
"According to this article 300,000 royal soldiers have defected to the resistance," Vivi says.
"Oh great," I sigh. "Nami rest. I still need to take away some of the fever."
"Won't you get a fever too?" Nami asks.
"No, I don't get sick," I say. "I ate the Mend Mend Fruit, remember?"
"Oh yeah..."
I begin to take the heat away as Nami explains about the newspaper. She begins to get up saying excuses about the fever how it's not real.
"Nami, if you don't get your ass back in this bed right now, I'll trap you in here to make you stay," I threaten. "I'll take all this stuff in your room and throw it overboard, especially your belli."
"What?!" she squeals.
"And there won't be anything you can do about it because you don't have enough strength to even manage a punch," I say with a smirk. "I'll handle the navigation. I'd comply because you really don't wanna tick me off."
She sighs. "F-fine..." She crawls back into the bed.
I finish taking a load of heat off her shoulders. "Vivi, I want you to stay here and take care of Nami. Everybody else, let's go up top. We need to check the log pose." We all head upstairs. I feel a strong wind coming and look at the log pose. "We need to move!"
"What? Why?" Luffy asks.
"Something's not right," I admit. "We need to move. Now! Let's go! Catch the portside wind!"
We all move and change course when Luffy points out something.
"Ah! What the hell is that?!" he shouts.
We all turn to look in the direction he pointed to see a giant cyclone.
"That was the same path we were just on!" Sanji shouts.
"Sanji's right! That's the exact same direction!" Usopp shouts. "We'd be dead right now!"
"Alright!" Luffy shouts. "What are we waiting around here for! Let's find Nami a doctor!"
"Yeah!" we all shout.
After a while, it begins to snow. Sanji goes back down to help Vivi with Nami.
"Have you found any doctors yet?" Luffy shouts up to Zoro, who's up in the crow's nest with me.
He's looking through some binoculars. "Uh, hey guys, what do you think about guys standing on water?"
"What, do I think it's possible?" Luffy asks.
"What kinda question is that?" Usopp asks, who's wrapped in a blanket. "It's impossible of course."
Luffy and I are the only ones without anything on to keep us warm. I look out onto the horizon to see what Zoro is talking about. "What the hell is that?"
"What's what?" Luffy asks.
"Say what?" Usopp says.
They both turn around and look at the guy standing on the water.
"You think he's a doctor?" Luffy asks.
"Hello!" the guy calls out. "Sure is chilly today!"
Suddenly a giant dome-shaped ship comes from underneath him, causing the ship to rock a lot.
"What the hell is that?" Zoro and I shout.
"It's a pirate ship!" Usopp shouts.
"It's huge!" Luffy yells.
"Great," Zoro scoffs. "Just what we need when we're in a hurry."
Suddenly, we're surrounded by the crew on the ship. Sanji comes bursting out the door only to get surrounded. The captain comes onto the ship, eating meat on a knife and eventually eats the knife with it. He then begins to eat the ship.
"He's a ship eating monster!" Usopp shouts.
"Hey, our ship isn't your lunch!" Luffy roars, punching the two who put their hands on him.
Gun fire begins to ring off, and we all knock them out in a few seconds. Luffy launches the captain far away off into the ocean and then they all leave.
"Jeez, how weird," I sigh. I head down to Nami's room to take down Nami's fever again.
Sunset falls. Everyone eventually falls asleep in Nami's room, but Sanji and I remain awake to navigate. Sanji eventually falls asleep on my shoulder, mumbling in his sleep about how warm I am and wraps his arms around me. I try to shove him off but eventually stop since he kept returning.
Sunrise comes faster than usual and Usopp begins to fix up the ship. We find an island and sail into it. Luffy and I sit up on the figurehead as we sail in.
"Ah snow, it's so white and beautiful," Luffy says.
"Guess I'll get ready for the inevitable," Sanji sighs.
"I'm so happy!" Luffy squeals. "Look at the snow!"
"Look at the mountains," Sanji says. "They're like nothing I've ever seen."
"Say, Luffy, Fia, aren't you cold dressed like that?" Usopp asks.
"It's 10 degrees below freezing out here," Vivi says. "That's when bears get ready to hibernate."
"Huh?" Luffy huffs, turning to look at them with a blank expression. "Oh boy... Uh, cold!"
"You just figured that out?!" Sanji and Usopp shout at him.
"I think it feels good," I say.
"How are you not cold?" Sanji asks.
"I don't get hot or cold," I say. "I'm always neutral."
"That must be from your Devil Fruit power, right?" Usopp asks.
"You can say that," I say.
"You have a Devil Fruit power?" Vivi asks.
"Mend Mend Fruit," I say.
"I've never heard of that fruit," Vivi says.
That's because it doesn't exist. "That's because I'm the first one to ever find it," I lie.
"Wow, that's so cool!" Luffy shouts.
"Doctor search, who's in?" Zoro asks. "Guess we gotta find people first."
Sanji, Luffy, and I all agree to go.
"That's far enough, pirates!" a voice shouts.
We look around to discover many people surrounding us from the cliffs.
"People, well that was easy," Luffy says.
"They don't seem too friendly," Usopp says.
"I'll only say this once," a man says, stepping up. "Your kind is not welcome here. Leave immediately."
"We only came here to find a doctor," Luffy says.
"We have someone who's sick," Vivi says.
"You have to try better than that! We're not going to fall for that trick!" some guy shouts.
Yelling goes back and forth, and Vivi ends up getting shot in the arm.
"Vivi!" Luffy shouts and turns back to the people. "Why you?!"
They all aim their weapons. "Ready? Aim!"
Vivi stops Luffy, and I kinda zoned out, not really caring for what she says. Vivi and Luffy bow to let the people help us. They eventually agree.
"Vivi, come here and let me heal you," I say, taking out my knife. I quickly heal her wound, and we continue onto the island. We meaning everyone, but Zoro, Emerald, and the duck.
The man ends up telling us the only doctor they have at the island is a witch. We later learn the man's name is Dalton and is basically the most liked man in the village. We end up going to Dalton's home and get warmed up.
"Her fever has gone back up, Fia," Vivi says.
"Yeah, I figured," I say, moving over to the bed Nami's using. I place my hands on either side and concentrate.
"What is she doing?" Dalton asks.
"She's reducing her fever," Sanji answers.
"How?" Dalton asks.
"She's a Devil Fruit user," Vivi says. "It's the reason why she doesn't have any extra clothes to keep her warm. She ate the Mend Mend Devil Fruit. It prevents her from getting too cold or too hot, and she's immune to illnesses."
"Her blood heals wounds," Sanji adds.
I finish taking down Nami's temperature and smirk. "Don't give away all of my secrets now."
"Wow," Dalton says. "That's amazing. Why aren't you the doctor on the ship?"
"I'm no doctor," I scoff. "If I was I would've healed her. Idiot..."
"Sorry, she has a bit of a temper," Sanji says.
I roll my eyes. "And how would you know?" I scoff and head outside. "They don't know me. Damn. From captain to crewmate... What has my immortal life come to?"
Luffy eventually decides that he's going to scale up the mountain. Sanji and I join him. We ignore Dalton's warning about the giant bunnies and rush up the mountain.
"Let's go!" Luffy shouts, carrying Nami on his back. After a while, the wind begins to blow harder. "It feels like it's gotten colder, the wind's picking up too."
Sanji and Luffy go on and begin to bicker before we begin to get attacked by a little bunny trying to attack us. We continuously dodge it before it gets on Sanji's nerves and he kicks it.
"You're becoming a pain in my ass!" Sanji shouts.
"Really, what was with that thing?" Luffy asks as we continue to tread up the mountain.
"Nami, just hang in there a little bit longer," Sanji says. "We're going to get you to a doctor, alright?"
"The snow's getting really deep around here," Luffy inquires.
They begin to bicker again and up ahead spread out across our path is a bunch of giant bunnies.
"These must be the lapahns Dalton was talking about," Sanji says.
Sanji and I beat the shit out of the laphans and we rush away. We get up on a ledge and they follow.
"Dammit, no matter where we go they're gonna follow!" I shout.
They eventually get in front of us and create an avalanche. We run as fast as we can back down the mountain. The avalanche reaches us and Sanji gets knocked out. I manage to grab him as Luffy and I hang onto a rock as the avalanche passes. We begin to make our way back up the mountain when we see one of the bunnies trapped in the snow with the baby that was attacking us earlier, trying to get the elder bunny out. Luffy rescues it and continues our journey up the mountain. We get cut off by the guy that ate our ship with him blabbing about teaching us a lesson.
"Move it," Luffy growls.
"I don't think so," big mouth responds.
"We don't have time for this shit," I scoff. "Get out of the way or I'll make you."
"And what are you going to do, little girl?" they taunt.
I smirk and draw my blades out, setting Sanji gently on the ground. "Don't piss me off more than you already have."
"Or what?"
"This." I swing my arm around and slice down my swords in front of me, causing them to be blown back by the force. I create a whirlwind and send them flying across the sky away from us. "Let's go, Luffy." I throw Sanji over my shoulder and begin walking.
"That was so cool!" Luffy shouts.
"Come on, we don't have time for this," I say.
"Yeah," he says and follows behind me.
We make it to the base of the mountain, and Luffy ends up trying to climb it.
"Luffy?" I call out.
"Yeah?"
"I'm sorry for this," I admit.
"Sorry for what?"
"This," I say, swinging my arm straight at his face and knocking him out cold. I transform into The Demon and pick up Sanji with my tail as I grab Nami and Luffy with my arms. I spread my wings out and fly to the top of the mountain. I quickly turn back, before the witch and her reindeer come out from the castle.
"Who are you and what business do you have here?" the witch asks.
"I need your help," I say. "My friends need medical treatment right away. Please, help us. I beg you."
"What do we get in return?" she asks.
"The pleasure of having cured someone in need," I scoff.
"That's not a very good gift for saving someone's life. This girl here will die," the witch observes.
"It's either save her or lose your life," I threaten. "I don't have time for your ridiculous greedy self."
"Lose my life?" she questions. "And how do you expect that to happen?"
I draw my blades, except the one for my tail, and hold them as if about to strike. "I am the greatest swordsman in the world. Many might not know that and someone else holds that title, but if I need to prove myself, I will. I have done all I could to help save this girl. I'm not a doctor, so I don't know how to do these things, but I'm not going to stand here and bicker with you about what measly thing you'll get in return for saving her life. Now, save her and help us. These people are my friends and they need help. I'm not gonna let them die."
The witch sighs. "Fine. I'll help them. Chopper, help bring them inside."
I watch the reindeer thing change form and lift Sanji and Luffy.
"You're a Devil Fruit user," I say. "I knew I sensed something earlier. You ate the Human Human Devil Fruit, correct?"
"H-how did you know?" Chopper asks in fright.
"I know all the names and powers of the Devil Fruits," I announce.
"How? That's impossible," the witch says.
"That's for me to know and you to never find out," I say, carrying Nami inside. "Where do you want me to put her?"
"Follow me," the old hag says. "I'm Dr. Kureha and this is Tony Tony Chopper."
"I'm Fia," I greet. "Thank you for cooperating and helping my crew."
"Your crew?" Chopper asks shakily. "You the captain?"
"No, this kid with the straw hat is the captain," I say. "He may be stupid, but we must be even stupider to stay. He would be nothing without his crew."
"You must really care for them if you're risking your life to bring them to me," she says. "That climb is ridiculous. Your fingers must be bloody."
I show her my hands. "No need. My hands didn't get damaged or cut."
"How?"
"I'm a Devil Fruit user too," I say. "I ate the Mend Mend Devil Fruit."
We get inside the castle and she takes me up to a room.
"That's very interesting," she says. "And you couldn't heal her? Set her down right here."
"I can only heal wounds, not illnesses," I say. "I can only heal them using my blood. My blood changes to whatever blood type they are and quickly heals them."
"Very interesting indeed," Kureha says.
I lay Nami on the bed and back away. "I reduced her temperature as much as I could, absorbing her body heat. It would, of course, keep coming back."
"Of course it did," she says as if obvious. "She was bit."
"Okay, don't care why she's hurting, just heal her," I say. "I'm going to explore the castle."
"Don't mess with anything," she warns.
"I got ya, you old hag," I scoff.
"What'd you say?!" she shouts.
"Don't think you didn't hear me. You know exactly what I said!" I shout back as I leave the castle. I walk to the edge and jump off, transforming in the fall. I fly off to the ship, seeing nobody there I land and transform back into my normal self. "Wonder where Zoro and the duck went? Whatever, Emerald, where you at?"
She flies from the orange trees and flutters beside me. "What are you doing here? Is Nami okay?"
"Everyone's fine. We got her to a doctor," I say. "Now, my hearing picked up a large commotion coming from the village. I'm going to go check it out. If you don't mind, I'd like you to head up to the castle and watch over Nami."
"You've grown attached to these pirates," Emerald says and smiles. "I'm glad you found some happiness again."
"And I'm not going to let mother nature destroy that again," I claim. "I'll meet you at the tower later."
"Alright!" she says and flies off.
I transform back into my demon form and fly off to the village, transforming to normal before entering. "Vivi, Usopp, Zoro, what happened?"
"Fia!" Usopp exclaims. "Is everyone okay?!"
"They died in the climb."
"What?!" Vivi screeches.
"Nah, I'm just messing with you. Everyone is fine. Sanji, Luffy, and Nami are getting treated as we speak."
"Sanji and Luffy?" Usopp asks.
"Sanji got caught up in the avalanche and Luffy had a hard blow to the face," I say.
"You got out unscathed?" Vivi asks.
"Mend Mend Fruit, remember?" I say.
"Oh, right, forgot," Vivi admits.
"Obviously," I say with an eye roll. "What's going on?"
"Dalton was buried under the snow from the avalanche!" Usopp shouts.
"Oh, sorry about that..." I sigh.
"You caused the avalanche?!" Vivi, Zoro, and Usopp shout.
"Well, not really, but we were the ones to cause the ones who did it to do it," I say. "We ran into those giant bunnies that Dalton was talking about and upset them."
"You idiots!" Usopp shouts.
"Whatever," I say. "I can find Dalton, give me a second." I begin to concentrate on Dalton's scent and lower myself to the ground.
"What are you doing?" Zoro asks.
"I'm tracking Dalton," I scoff.
"By smelling the ground?" he asks.
"Yes."
"You're going to track his scent?" Vivi asks. "You can do that?"
"Yes," I say, moving along the ground, searching for heat signatures as well. I hover over a certain area. "Found him."
"Dig here!" Usopp shouts.
"You're not gonna doubt me?" I ask.
"Well, when you just made yourself look like a fool, I'm not going to doubt you," Usopp says.
"What?!" I shout, punching him in the face.
They eventually dig Dalton up to find him passed out with two large stakes in his chest.
"Dalton!" the people shout.
I walk down into the hole to pull Dalton out and lift him. "I can heal him, but he'll be out for about an hour or so. I'm taking him to his house." I walk to a cart and put him inside, pulling the cart to his home. Vivi, Usopp, and Zoro ride in the cart with him. Once we arrive at Dalton's house, Zoro pulls out the stakes, and I fill the wounds with my blood to heal him. The villagers watch in horror by the way I heal him, but as soon as the blood is wiped away the wounds are completely healed.
"What kinda monster are you?!" the villagers shout in amazement.
"The worst kind," I growl. "I'm the kind of monster that haunts your dreams and continues to haunt them until your last breath."
"Uh, Fia?" Usopp questions.
"Oh, heh heh, sorry," I chuckle awkwardly. "Well, I'm gonna head back up the mountain."
"We'll go with you," Usopp says.
"No, stay here and watch Dalton with the doctors," I say, heading out of Dalton's house. I watched to see if anyone followed me and luckily they didn't, so I transform to my demon self and fly up the mountain to see that Wapol and his men are fighting against Luffy and Chopper. I quickly hide transforming back to my normal self and finish getting up by climbing up the mountain. I watch as the reindeer completely defeats the two faced lackeys. "Strong reindeer."
"Beautiful, you're back!" Sanji cheers from the ground where the old hag is sitting on top of him.
"Where's Wapol?" I ask.
"Wahh!" Luffy shouts. "When'd he go?!"
"Probably when you were drooling over those transformations!" Sanji shouts.
"How sneaky!" Luffy growls.
I gasp. "Nami!"
Luffy and Sanji freak out and go barreling into the castle. I remain behind with the hag and Chopper.
"You not going to follow them?" Kureha asks.
"I believe they have it handled," I say.
"That guy, did you hear him?" Chopper asks Kureha. "He called me his friend."
"Chopper, we're all your friends," I say. "I know how much Luffy wants you to join. I would love it if you joined."
"But I'm not a human!" he shouts. "I'm a reindeer."
"So?"
"I have a blue nose..."
"I think the blue nose suits you," I admit. "I wouldn't want it any other way. Nobody cares if you're a reindeer or if you have a blue nose. We like you. I think you'd make a great addition to our team, right Emerald?"
"Emerald?" Chopper questions.
Emerald flies down and perches herself on my finger, automatically getting warmed up. "Yes!"
"See? Emerald thinks you'd be a good addition to the team," I say. "The crew allows any type of person or creature. Emerald here is my pet or sidekick if you like. She loves being a part of the crew as much as I do."
"You can understand her?" Chopper asks.
"Yes, because I'm a creature too," I whisper to him.
"You are?" he asks.
"I'm a creature of the skies, of the shadows, and the place you never want to see," I say. "I won't tell you what I am, but you'll most likely see someday. You'll just have to take my word for it."
He looks up at me, eyes shining. "You really think I'd be a good crewmate?"
"I do," Emerald and I say.
"You know, we also have a giant duck on board the ship for now," I say.
We hear a loud explosion from above and we watch as Luffy sends Wapol flying through the air.
"Hey, what the hell are you doing?!" Zoro's voice shouts from behind us.
"Just watching your back," Usopp says from behind him.
"Hiding behind me is more like it!" Zoro fusses.
They begin to bicker before they're tackled by Luffy.
"OH, hahahaha!" Luffy begins to laugh.
"What the hell did you do that for, you moron?!" Zoro shouts.
"I didn't recognize you at first," Luffy says. "I thought you were more of big mouth's guards coming to fight. I'm really surprised you guys came all the way up here."
I zone out as I look back to Chopper. Things happen and Luffy eventually begins chasing after Chopper.
"With friends like you I don't need enemies!" Chopper shouts.
We eventually get him to agree to come with us. Kureha makes a big exit for Tony as he wails like a baby in appreciation. I scoop him up in my arms and give him a big grin. The sight of pink snow made to look like cherry blossoms is a sight everyone should see.
"You'll have a lot of fun with us, Tony," I say.
He gives me a hug. "I believe you."
"How about I declare you as my little brother?" I ask.
"What?! R-really?!"
