Chapter 8: Don't Fear The Reaper.

"Mey-rin, I need you to find me a tube. Do you think you can manage that?" Sebastian asked the maid frantically.

She nodded her head and ran out of the room. Sebastian looked down at his mate as a single tear threatened to escape his eye. It was a bittersweet moment, for she lay there as beautiful as ever, but dying. Before, it was near impossible for Eva to die, but after carrying and birthing Leyla, that had soon changed.

Eva had been unconscious for over an hour now. Sebastian had heard her call and left his fight with Senyaka, finishing him off of course. He had arrived at the perfect moment, for he had caught his dear Eva before she had fallen onto one of Walter's deadly wires.

After catching her, he had noticed the still bundle in her arms.

He was currently attempting to relieve her lungs of any blood that had become trapped in them. She had unknowingly been sliced so deep, it pierced her left lung. She was fighting for her life, but she had the best doctor the underworld had to offer.

Sebastian slowly cut her dress open, revealing her body for the world to see, but it was at full demand. He had to get to her lungs somehow, and her mouth was not an option.

Mey-rin had made it back into the room, after checking on Bardroy of course, and handed Sebastian the only piece of tubing she could find.

Eva attempted to open her eyes, but to no avail. She fell in and out of consciousness continuously every time she would try to open them.

He grabbed the tube from the maid and picked up a small surgical scalpel. He then felt along her side until he found the correct spot. When he found said spot, he ever so gently sliced her skin open and placed the tubing in until he heard a pop. A dangerous amount of blood poured from her body and into a bowl.

Sebastian had to hold himself back as her sweet scent filled his nose.

"Mister Sebastian, are you alright?" Finny asked. He simply nodded his head in response.

Sebastian whiped the blood that had managed to escape the tubing away. He sat the scalpel down and exchanged it for a needle and some stitching thread.

Everyone in the room sat back helplessly and watched as Sebastian tried to save their dear Eva's life.

Finny had thought back to a time when he, Sebastian, Eva, and Leyla had all played hide and seek. He felt happiness when he and Leyla played, he had a friend. But now he had seen the life tragically taken away from his dear friend.

Mey-rin thought back to a time when she used to play tea party with the child. Leyla would dress her up in beautiful gowns and jewelery and pretend they were princesses. Eva would make them tea and do their hair.

Ciel thought of the first time he had ever met the little girl. It happened moments after he was taken to the Trancy manor by Claude. He was unaware of who the small child was at first, but he figured it out soon after. She had her mothers dazzling personality and her fathers looks, whom he loved dearly, which made his love for the small girl even greater.

Sebastian thought back to the first time he had met her as he stitched her throat closed.

It was a cold winters day and Sebastian had work that needed to be done with the parents of the Glover household. He had known the couple for quite sometime and was invited to meet their newborn child. Sebastian had never thought of soul mates before, until he held the newborn girl in his arms.

She was a rather small baby with beautiful ruby red eyes that twinkled even in the darkest of light. Her hair was thick and the color of virgin snow. She was already a beautiful child, but she would grow far more into it with age.

When Edith had handed him the small child, he hesitated at first, but then scooped her up happily when she grabbed his large finger in her small hands.

In that moment, some sort of electricity shot through his body and zapped his heart. He never thought in a million centuries he would ever find his soul mate, but he found it in the small child. He loved her already. He wanted to scoop her up then and there, but since she was a child, he would wait until she was much older.

Sebastian smiled down with a sad look plastered to his face as he finished stitching up her neck. He sat his instruments down and leaned over, placing a gentle kiss on the apple of her cheek.

"We need to let her rest for a day or so before we can take the tubing out, but until then, we wait." Sebastian said with a heavy heart.

Everyone in the room nodded.

"Mey-rin, do you remember how I showed you to make tea to the young masters liking?" Sebastian asked the maid without looking away from Eva.

Mey-rin nodded her head. "Yes sir, I do." She said.

"Take the master to his study and prepare him some tea." Sebastian demanded.

Mey-rin and Ciel stood up and left the room, now it was Sebastian, Eva, and Finny.

The blonde boy stood up and turned towards Sebastian. "I'll go clean up the manor."

Sebastian nodded his head and looked down. He grabbed Eva's cold hand and held it in his own.

"Please do not leave me love. I can not handle losing the both of you. I need you to stay here with me. I do not know what I would do with myself if you left." He said as he squeezed Eva's hand. A black dot fell from Sebastian's eye and landed on her pale hand.

The room fell silent, except for the quiet sobs from Sebastian and the shallow breathing from Eva.

Every once in a while, Eva would mumble in her sleep, giving Sebastian a little hope. But when she wouldn't wake up, the little hope he had melted away.

"Oh Bassy!" A feminine yet masculine voiced called throughout the manor.

Sebastian rolled his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose. "What is that obnoxious creature doing here?" He asked himself.

"Bassy where are you!" The voice shouted. The door to the room Sebastian was in flung open, revealing Grell.

"Oh my, what happened to her?" Grell asked as he looked down at Eva.

"She was attacked, what are you doing here Grell?" Sebastian asked angrily.

"Why I came to visit my favorite demon. Are you not happy to see little ol' me?" He asked in an annoying tone.

"Actually," Sebastian thought for a moment. "I am. I need your help."

The reapers face lit up bright red. "And what do you need my assistance for?" He said with a wink.

"It's Leyla." Sebastian said as he looked down at his feet.

"Oh dear, I just adore that child. She looks just like you, you know. What seems to be the problem?" Grell asked.

"Walter." Sebastian said.

"Walter who? Oh my. Do you mean Walter Dornez? That ghastly Butler for Hellsing? I simply can not stand that man. What has he done?" Grell asked disgustingly.

Sebastian looked up at Grell with glowing eyes. "He has killed her Grell."

"B-Bassy." He said while looking behind Sebastian. "You're demoning!"

Sebastian stood up and stalked towards the flamboyant male.

"I need her back Grell, can you help me?" He asked.

"I'm not sure Bassy, that would be tampering with the soul book. But, since it's for yo- I mean dear Leyla, I can pull some strings." Grell said in thought.

Sebastian's eyes lit up for the first time in a while. He grabbed the red reapers face in his hands and smiled.

"How can I ever pay this dept to you Grell?" Sebastian asked.

An evil smirk grew across the man's face. "You can introduce me to that sexy brother of yours, Agares."

Sebastian rolled his eyes. "Alright Grell, so you will help me? I am all out of options at the moment."

Grell nodded his head. "Yes, I suppose. Show me the girl."

Sebastian nodded his head and opened the door. "Follow me."

Sebastian led the red reaper down the hall to the room Leyla was in. When Sebastian opened the door, the reaper gasped.

"Oh my my." Grell said as he stroked the pale girls cheek. "The poor girl."

Sebastian sat down on the bed and cradled the child in his arms. "It is alright my little flower. Daddy has got you now, everything is going to be alright." He looked down at Leyla with a sad smile.

"Oh Bassy." Grell said with a sniffle. "That is just the most heart wrenching thing I have ever seen. And I take people's souls for a living."

Sebastian shot Grell a look that would scare the devil himself.

"Alright Bassy, set the girl down on the bed and step back."

Sebastian nodded and sat Leyla down on the bed as gentle as possible and stepped back.

Grell reached into his red coat and pulled out his death sythe, that just so happened to be scissors, and held out his hand. Leyla's soul book appeared in his right hand and flew open, right to the page from the day of her death.

"You might want to look away Bassy." Grell said, turning to Sebastian.

"It is alright Grell, do carry on." Sebastian said.

Grell nodded his head and turned back to the lifeless child. He sat the book down on the bed and ripped the last page from her book. He then took his scissors and shoved them right into her small chest. Sebastian let out a small gasp as he did so.

The film strips of her short life flowed out of her body until Grell had found the last memory. He cut said memory away from the others and stopped the rest of them from flowing all of the way out. He then took the page from her book and held it in his hand until it disappeared.

Grell turned and placed a hand on his cheek. "Alright Bassy, that should do it. She should be waking up anytime now."

They sat and waited for what seemed like hours. Sebastian was holding Leyla in his large arms and rocking her back and forth. He hummed a sweet lullaby while doing so. Grell was busy picking at some chipped paint on the wall, Sebastian was far too busy to notice it. They waited and waited until Leyla suddenly moved.

"D-daddy?" The small child whispered as she rubbed her eyes. Sebastian scooped her up into a large hug and placed a kiss on her small cheek. "It is alright love, daddy has got you."

"Daddy?" Leyla asked again. "Yes my dear?" Sebastian asked, happy to see his beloved daughter once more.

"Where's mommy?"
