Chapter 4: The Devil May Cry.
(Sebastian's pov)
"E-Eva..." I whispered. She threw her head back in a laugh. "Yes my dear, it is I." She answered, malice dripping from her voice. "I d-do not under... stand." I whispered.
She placed a hand on her torso and smiled down at me. "I am afraid I shall have to take back my earlier statement, you are not as smart as you look." She said.
I placed my left palm over my eye. "You see Sebastian, I only needed you for one thing; a child. And now that I have that, I do not need you anymore." Her words felt as if they were the culprit behind my now poisoned body.
I attempted to stand, but to no avail, for my limbs had grown far too weak, so I had decided to sit up.
I looked up to my beautiful bride as she reached her hand into her black boot, revealing a silver butter knife.
"Oh Sebastian." She said as she stepped towards me. "You are a terrible excuse of a demon. I thought even you could see my plan I kept so well hidden, even after you almost caught me."
My head thumped harder at her words as I tried to remember what she meant.
°°°°°°Flashback°°°°°°
Eva passed Hannah's body on the way, noticing the sword was gone. As soon as she turned the corner, she had 'said' sword to her throat.
Claude.
"Why did you let me escape?" He whispered, pressing the sword harder. "I could not let him kill you." She said sweetly. He forrowed his brow in confusion.
Eva slid her finger down his chest. "I just could not possibly let him take you. You see, I do not want Sebastian. I want you Claude. I want your gorgeous eyes, and your raven hair, and your strong, intoxicating voice." She said seductively.
He released the sword and let it fall to the ground. He wrapped his arms around her waist. "I knew you would come around eventually my dear. I am yours." He pulled her face closer to his. "And you are mine." She whispered.
She slowly leaned in for a kiss, when she heard the clanking of loafers hitting the ground. She placed a loving hand on Claude's sculpted cheek.
"Do forgive me my dear." She said as she placed her hands around his throat, giving him a soft wink. He nodded his head and pretended to be in pain.
"Someone please! Get this wretched woman off of me and help!" Claude shouted, a little too dramatically.
Sebastian heard the disturbance and ran towards her. "I shall take it from here, love." He said as he placed a hand on her shoulder so he could "pull" her off of Claude.
°°°°°°end of flashback°°°°°°
I clutched at my chest after remembering.
"You see darling, I was not the only one involved in the plan. At times, while you were taking care of that brat Ciel, I would leave the manor so that I could be with Claude, my true soul mate." Her words felt like venom coursing through my veins that sent me into a state of shock.
I clenched harder at my chest and watched as a drop of black liquid fell onto my white glove. I brought my hand up to my eyes and dabbed my skin.
I was crying, something I had not done in centuries. Eva noticed and began to laugh again. "My my, the fallen angel is crying? How perfect!" She said as she stepped closer.
I slowly laid down on my back and looked up to the fresh night sky. Another singe of pain shot through my abdomen causing me to wince in pain. I focused on the cloudy sky that seemed to be laced with stars. I noticed a single snowflake fall before me and land on my lips, I slowly licked it away.
The small puff of snow only seemed to have worsened the pain, for my body felt as if someone had ignited a fire in my chest, that spread throughout my body at an alarming rate.
I clenched at my chest in excruciating pain, but I must have not been paying attention to the shillouette before me, for it had pinned me to the ground.
Eva lifted the silver butter knife to my throat and stared into my ruby eyes.
I turned my head to the side and watched as a multitude of snowflakes fell to the ground where they melted into tiny pools of cold water.
Eva grabbed my chin and turned my head back to her. "Do not look away Sebastian! I want you to remember the face of your demise!" She shouted.
I looked back into her dark eyes with a saddened look. "My love, I could never begin to forget your face, for it is the most beautiful thing I have ever had the opportunity to look at." I said.
She hung her head for a moment as if pondering something, but that was over as soon as it began. She pressed down harder on the knife that was occupying my throat.
All of a sudden I felt a bolt of energy shoot through my body.
"But," I said while slowly standing to my feet. "I shall forget with time." Eva took a few steps back. "What! That can not be! The amount of poison in your body I... you should be dead!" She shouted in anguish.
I slowly stalked towards her and felt my eyes change and glow in a dark magenta. Eva's aura had changed to pure fear, only adding fuel to my fire.
"S-Sebastian please..." She whispered. "Spare me." I crouched down in front of her and placed a hand on her cold cheek, she began trembling.
I threw my head back in laughter and slowly brought it back up. She looked into my glowing eyes mercifully.
I leaned down to her neck and grazed my fangs along her cold skin.
"You have wronged me my love, I can not let you leave with your life." I hissed at her.
She widened her eyes and her heartbeat increased. I placed a gentle kiss on her cold cheek.
"Now then, my lady." I said as I bit down into her neck. A loud shriek erupted from her throat as her velvety blood flowed through my parched throat.
"S....Seb- Sebastian. S-stop." Eva whispered.
Another tear seemed to threaten to escape my eye. Even if she attempted to kill me, she is still my love and I could never forget that.
All of a sudden her body went completely limp and her aura slowly disappeared, I pulled away and watched as the life slowly drained from my darling's eyes.
I gently laid her body down onto the cold roof top and placed one last kiss on her cold lips. When I lifted my head I realized I had began to cry again. I stood up slowly and walked along the edge of the roof and sat down.
"S-she's gone... and I. I k-killed her." I whispered as I placed my face into the palms of my hands.
"What have I done!" I shouted as I slammed my hands down onto the roof.
I stood up in a fit of rage and jumped off the roof and ran through the alleyways. I brought my hand up to my face and look down at my red stained glove.
"Her blood is on my hands." I murmured to myself.
"Sebastian." A high pitched voice suddenly called out.
I turned to see my young master, he had anger written all over his small face.
"Where on earth have you been Sebastian!" The young master shouted.
I pulled myself together and turned my attention to the young lord. I placed a hand over my heart with a bow.
"My deepest apologies young master, there was a problem that needed to be dealt with at once." I said.
The young master nodded his head. "Why are you covered in blood? And what happened to your right glove?" He asked.
I looked at my burned glove and remembered I had not changed it yet.
"I had no choice but to eradicate the issue." I said as I tried to cover my saddened glare.
"Is something the matter, Sebastian?" He asked.
"No my lord, of course not." I reassured him.
"Whatever." He said. "Have you found anything about the break ins yet?"
I shook my head slightly. "No my lord, but we shall return to the manor. It is getting rather late."
The young master nodded his head. "I suppose you are right Sebastian."
I slowly trailed behind him as I hung my head in shame of my dear Eva.
