Chapter 10: Memories of a broken heart.
"S-sebastian?" Eva asked as she opened her eyes only to be met with a pair of loving scarlet ones. Sebastian placed a hand on the apple of Eva's cheek as she awoke.
"Yes, I am here my dear. Are you feeling alright?" He asked with a worried tone. Eva nodded her head slightly, but Sebastian stopped her. "Do not move your head love, you will rip your stitches."
"S-stitches?" She asked fearfully. "I had to stitch your neck closed, do you remember anything that happened?" He asked.
Eva closed her eyes and tried to remember the events that occured, but she could not remember anything.
"Sebastian, I don't remember anything. Not a t-" "Mommy!" Suddenly, Leyla ran through the door running to her mothers bedside.
Eva looked down to the small silver haired child and back to Sebastian, quite confused. "Sebastian, why is this child calling me mommy?" She asked.
Sebastian's eyes widened as he looked at his fiance. "L-love, what do you mean?" He asked.
"Daddy, what's wrong with mommy?" Leyla asked confused as well.
"Who is this child and why is she calling me mother?" She asked once more, completely oblivious to the obvious.
"Leyla dear," Sebastian said turning to the small girl. "Why do you not go play with Finnian for a bit, I need to speak with mommy. I am sure he has missed you dearly." He said as he ruffled the small girls hair, attempting to hide the worry in his voice.
Leyla nodded her head and ran out of the room, shutting the door behind her. Sebastian took a deep breath and returned his attention to Eva.
"Do you not remember her love?" He asked. Eva quickly shook her head and cut her eyes to the spot where Leyla had just stood.
"It is Leyla my dear, please love, think." Sebastian said, slowly becoming hopeless. "Think of the name."
Eva searched around her brain for any information she had on the name Leyla, but nothing came up.
"I am sorry Sebastian, I don't know who she is." She said.
Sebastian stood from his chair and walked to the window, placing a hand on the glass.
"How can this be?" He thought to himself. "She has lost her memory yet again. Even I am at a loss here."
"Sebastian, what is goin-" Eva began, but was interrupted by the sudden outburst of pain that shot through her head. She placed both hands on either side of her head with a pained expression.
"Eva!" Sebastian shouted as he ran to her side. "Don't move love. Stay as still as you possibly can."
Eva watched helplessly as her vision slowly became blurred. "Eva, hold on!" Sebastian shouted.
A loud ring erupted from her ears, sending her into another state of pain. She started so close her eyes as she was becoming overwhelmed, now she could barely comprehend what Sebastian was saying.
"Eva, don't close your eyes! Stay with me!" He shouted frantically, but to no avail. She could not understand anything. All she could see now was blurry shapes of objects around her and all she could hear was murmurs and that putrid ringing in her ears.
"Do not close your eyes love!" Sebastian shouted once more. She could not fight any longer, she was exhausted and in pain. She slowly close her eyes as Sebastian stood over her in panic.
************
"Finny!" Leyla called out as she was wandering the halls. Leyla had grown quite a bit over the past few weeks. Her hair was now a light silver that stretched past her torso that she wore in two long braided pigtails.
"Leyla? Is that you!" Finny shouted as he rounded the corner of the hallway. His eyes widened as he laid eyes on his dearest friend. He thought he had lost her, but as soon as he heard her sweet voice, hope filled his small body.
He ran to her and scooped her up in a large hug. "Finny, you are crushing me!" Leyla squirmed in his hold.
Finny giggled and sat her down. "I'm sorry Leyla, I'm just so excited to see you! I missed you so much!"
Leyla furrowed her brows and cocked her head to the side. "How come you say that? I just saw you a few minutes ago ya silly willy. I just went with daddy for a few minutes." She said.
Finny shook his head and placed a hand on his forhead. "Oh, right. Silly me."
"Finny?" Leyla asked with her sweet voice.
"Yeah?" Finny responded.
"What's wrong with mommy? She's acting really funny." Finny's heart broke as she spoke. "She's not acting right."
Finny knelt down in front of her on one knee and placed a hand on her head and ruffled her hair.
"Miss Eva bumped her head Leyla, she's sick. She'll get better before long, don't you worry though. Me and Mr. Sebastian will always be here to play with you until then." Finny said, not really knowing how to explain the situation.
"Oh okay Finny." Leyla said, leaning her head down.
"Hey! Cheer up okay, everything is going to be alright." He said trying to calm her.
Leyla looked up with hopeful eyes. "Really! How do you know?"
"I know it will, it has to! Everything gets better. It has for me, I know that for sure! I may not be the smartest one here, but I know we're all gonna be okay! Don't you worry Leyla!" He said with a smile, thinking back to the first time he was free. The first time he felt the cool breeze flowing in his hair and the warm sun on his skin. The first time he knew that not everything turns out horrible, that there's always hope.
"Yeah," He said as he ruffled her hair once more. "Everything is gonna be alright."
