Chapter 2: A Deal with the Devil

Sunday mornings were the best-
With the crack of the dawn, where millions of people around the globe would get into their sunday best with hair slicked down and shoes laced up to attend church masses to preach and pray and try sanctifying their souls...
Jungkook would wake up in bed with more than two people on his side instead and what other way could be better to piss off the guy upstairs?
Jungkook smiled, turning to the pretty blond on his side, who was fast asleep.
He ran his finger on her bare back and she let out a soft whine, her eyebrows crushing amidst her slumber.
She was a bit of a screamer- a little shy to put down the first step and needed encouragement to go on with her art, but yeah- Jungkook could remember... she definitely was a screamer.
Jungkook sat upright glancing down at the raven haired girl on his left. Her bangs splayed on her forehead. This woman was just as beautiful as the other one.
She had the right curves and dips and not to forget- she was a little too aggressive, a bit freaky and Jungkook liked that.
He liked the confidence and the feeling of being challenged.
Being the Devil- had its pros and cons.
Pros being; immortal for the most, powerful, strong, sexy, undeniably hot yada yada..
And for the Cons... well Jungkook didnt think he had any Cons for being the Devil.
Yeah- he did have to spend half of his life in an un-ventilated or non-airconditioned looming hole of despair that stretched on and on for eternity.... but after he bounced back to the mortal realm, things weren't so bad afterall.
There was alcohol, wealth, beautiful mortals who dropped to their knees for him... well- Jungkook found everything he wanted on the land his father had created.
And he had made up his mind to not leave anytime soon...
He ever so gently touched the raven haired's cheek who shifted in her sleep, grumbling a 'Jungkook stop..'
Still fierce...
Shaking his head, the Devil got out of his bed, his fine sculpted bare body full on display- but Jungkook didn't really carry shame around- so...
He slung onto his robe, tying down the knot in the middle of his torso and walked out of his bedroom, yawning.
His penthouse was luxurious- flawless.
The fine oak wood furniture and the charcoal colored marble floor gave an expensive aura- just like Jungkook liked.
He had put tons of money to make it look amazing afterall so he wouldn't have taken an otherwise in any way with that.
Pausing near the luxury bar counter, he poured himself a drink. Not anything too heavy- but not anything light either.
Pure malt whiskey was his go-to morning drink, where other people would opt for green tea or juices or coffee- but as you see, Jungkook didnt belong to the category of 'people'.
He took a gulp out of his drink and smacked his lips, the taste unfolding on his tastebuds, just like he liked it.
With his glass secured, he stepped into his office- a spacious room but seemingly appearing just like any other high-profiled person's office room.
He placed his glass of whiskey on his desk, as he lifted his iPad to check his schedule for the day.
There wasnt anything important, his schedule was set to the same as that of any other days with the evening to night hours occupied- with that being having to attend one of the parties.
Sighing, Jungkook leaned against the glass desk, his gaze shifting to the white cloth that had been sitting on his coffee table for over two days.
Jungkook walked closer, picking up the folded handkerchief and slowly unfolded it in his palm.
There were small minute specks of dried blood on the white cloth as the pick rolled a bit, when he shifted his hand.
Jungkook had a choice to leave it there and let the Summoning slide away... but he didnt know why, he had picked it up to seal the deal.
A deal with the Devil.
A deal with him.
He gingerly picked up the cleaner end of the pick and rose it to his eye-level, inspecting the dried blood that was still attached to the the piece of wood.
Sure... there were people who still summoned him- curious teen girls, camp nights with seniors, goth parties, satanists you name it- and always it would be something Latin and vile with bloodshed and some animal sacrifice and even with something as measly as Ouija boards- seriously... mortals were mental, Jungkook confirmed.
But for the first time, he had found a connection with a summon that wasn't some Latin phrases and simply a bickering conversation between mortals- but more to that, he was astounded by the fact... the means used to summon him was a sandwich with a pentagram.
How... innovative.
This was a first- and Jungkook was blown when his connection got stronger with the blood prick, immediately making him want to know who summoned him instead of ignoring mortals like he did every other time.
Jungkook had to admit- the mortal was pretty.
The way his eyes bulged, lost in a trance as he gazed at his bloody finger... enthralled Jungkook for some reason.
His hair was a shade of deep oak brownish black, most of his fringes covering his eyebrows and his eyes were a shade of clear black. Jungkook wouldnt have mentioned it out loud- but that didnt mean, he wasn't focused on the man's lips, when he had his bloodied finger wrapped around his pretty pink lips.
Jungkook was amazed... that wasn't a lie.
And the fact that the male gave him a subtle 'challenging' aura... excited him.
There was just something in those dark pool of cold eyes, Jungkook found enticing enough to accept what came him way...
Maybe- just maybe... Jungkook didnt have to seal the deal.
But he did- the flame, made it sure of that.
And he could only wonder why?
Was it because he was simply bored and decided to take up onto the deal... or was it because the mysterious man who summoned him, dodged him off of his power of manipulation for truth?
Jungkook felt a little queasy at that.
How could a mortal dodge his powers?
Jungkook grit his teeth a little and walked back to his desk, lifting up his glass and gulping a bit more of the bitter sweet alcohol.
Jungkook smacked his lips again, placing down his glass. He walked towards one of his wall cabinets and pulled it open showing pieces of antiques encased in glass compartments, that he had collected over centuries.
He looked around, trying to find something suitable to fit his idea.
He spotted a vintage empty cylindrical glass vial at the right corner of the cabinet and a huge grin formed on his face.
"Aha! Come here you-" he mumbled to himself as he opened the glass compartment and grabbed the vial.
He remembered this one- fairly from the 1850s... ah yes- this one made him smile.
It was a murder evidence.
Nothing too graphic, but it belonged to a woman who poisoned her extemely abusive husband to death.
If anything, Jungkook believed the guy deserved it and snatched the only evidence away to save the woman from the law.
Jungkook was nice like that, despite being the supposed 'Devil'- he believed women were too much of a beautiful creature to be taken advantage of or abused.
Pushing the faint memory back into his head, Jungkook tossed open the designed cork of the vial and slipped the pick into it.
He shut the vial with the cork and looked at the pick again, through the glass vial.
He hummed to himself, as he walked back to his desk- with the raven haired male on his mind.
He paused to his thoughts, when he heard soft giggling and he craned his head to look through the door.
"Bye Jungkookie! Thanks for the night!" The raven haired girl, whose name he remembered to be Soyeon hollered.
The blond haired, Rosè shyly waved at him behind Soyeon, with a pursed smile on her lips.
Jungkook grinned "Drive safely girls!"
The two giggled and waved at Jungkook before they made their way to his private elevator and disappeared from his sight.
Jungkook shook his head, chuckling a bit as he wrapped his fingers around the vial and walked around his desk, sitting down on his chair.
He placed the vial down and switched on his desktop computer.
He cracked his knuckles and exhaled.
"Okay..." he mumbled to himself and went to the Google search icon.
"What's your name...hmm"
Clicking onto the Seoul Poloce Department site, he went through the images and any news regarding a certain raven haired male.
"Detective Kim... where are you..."
His eyes searched intently, trying to spot the male and for a split second an image flashed, making a grin cave up on Jungkook's lips.
"Ah.. there you are." He grinned clicking onto the image.
"Detective Kim Taehyung.... hmm Taehyung. That's a nice name..." Jungkook licked his lips, his eyes glimmering.
The image was a picture taken from a year ago, when the State awarded the male with the Bravery Award for his commission to the Country and its citizens.
"One of the best.. huh? Mmm seems like we have a lot in common already Taehyung..." Jungkook mumbled, chuckling to himself as he read along the lines of the article published on the male.
Jungkook exited from the site and leaned back on his chair, staring at his screen for some time and then letting his gaze shift down to the vial.
"Mm... why do I feel like you'll bring a lot of trouble?" Jungkook murmured monotonously ad he gazed at the pick.
"You dodged my powers... hm.. I don't like how that makes me feel" Jungkook stood up from his seat.
He gulped down the last bit of his drink and slammed it down. He grabbed the vial from the table and walked to his wall-infused safe.
He punched in the code and the door opened with a small 'beep'.
Looking at the vial one last time, Jungkook placed the cylindrical glass tube in the safe and shut it close.
[A/N: play Billie Jean- Michael Jackson, to vibe along JK here :) ]
Exhaling, Jungkook walked out of his office, resuming to play his playlist on the home theater- Michael Jackson's classic best, Billie Jean booming in through the speakers.
Jungkook grinned as he poured himself another glass of whiskey and made his way towards the bathroom, passing by the living room while stripping mid way lazily- careful with his glass to not drop the liquor.
The speakers played loud in the background as he began bobbing his head, his lips pulled close and eyebrows crushed feeling the music in his veins.
Meeting the legend, Michael Jackson himself was Jungkook's greatest feat in life- he had all of his records and even had a signed custom record which he treasured so much.
Ofcourse, when the the singer died- let's just say... Jungkook didnt take it very well-
He was devastated and heartbroken and had gone missing for an entire month only to be found drunk somewhere on a beach in Miami- and it took his personal guard slash Demon friend who was currently banished for fun by the raventte- to hunt him down.
Jimin was too protective and annoying like that- and Jungkook needed his breaks from the Demon... so voila! a month in the Void should do him good to not piss off the Devil again.
Anyway going back to where Jungkook was at the moment, he slid into the bathroom- MJ style, dancing to the song as he placed his glass on the counter.
"Whoo- yeah!" He yelled with a clap, spinning on his feet and then singing out loud to the lyrics, holding an imaginary mic stand in his hands as he prepared himself for the chorus.
"Billie Jean is not my lover
She's just a girl who claims
that I am the one
But the kid is not my son
She says I am the one,
but the kid is not my son" he sang along to the song.
Jungkook continued bobbing his head to the music as he looked at his reflection.
He raked his fingers through his hair and pulled them back, smirking at his own reflection.
Oh he was hot.
Jungkook knew that for sure.
He rolled his shoulders, tilting his head back as his muscles flexed with his collar bones moving from the slight movement. His body was literally sculpted by God- and if anything Jungkook was grateful about that old guy... was giving him the most handsome face and the perfect body in all of mankind or angel-kind.
No wonder they got all prissy and kicked him out of the silver gates... but Jungkook didnt give two shits anymore.
He was done mourning over home ages ago.
Jungkook gulped down his drink in a go and placed the empty glass on the counter, still dancing to the music.
Removing his toothbrush, he put plenty of toothpaste and shoved the brush into his mouth, brushing around his pearly white teeth.
Spitting out the foam, he held the tooth brush like a mic and began mouthing to the chorus, completely focused and determined as if he really was singing.
He shoved the toothbrush back in and began brushing his teeth again and finally rinsing his mouth out with clear water and putting his toothbrush away.
Jungkook looked back into his reflection.
"Hmm... I wonder." Jungkook mumbled, his tongue swiping over his bottom lip and his eyes glinting mischievously as he shifted his weight down to his hands pressed flat against the counter around the sink.
"To make it right and push my doubts away, I'd have to pay you a visit again..." Jungkook spoke, his lips morphing into a smirk.
"Would you tell me you name then Detective Kim?" He chuckled.
******
Taehyung groaned leaning back into his seat.
A mild migraine pushing it's way through his brain folds and he could already feel his frustration reaching its peak.
It had been over two days... and they had no leads whatsoever over the newly filed case of Kidnapping.
The fact that he was sitting without any ideas while a 15 years old girl was probably somewhere in the dark, scared to her death- annoyed him.
He exhaled.
It's not the time to get mad over disadvantages.
"Okay..." Taehyung mumbled and sat up straight on his chair, looking through the case file.
"Tae!" Hoseok's voice entered his and the male quickly whipped his head to face his friend.
"Anything?" Taehyung asked eagerly.
"Nah... her mother said the same thing as she did before. She can't recall of anybody suspicious or LeeHi complaining her about anything that bothered her..." Hoseok answered with defeated sigh
Taehyung's shoulders slumped "I talked to LeeHi's friends and they seemed to know nothing that bothered her either. I feel like this whole thing- it isnt something that has to do with LeeHi..."
"What do you mean?" Hoseok frowned.
"We have interrogated LeeHi's friends... we've interrogated the family and anyone they knew... their colleagues and their friends too... plus a ransom hasn't showed up yet... despite being over 2days- so I think it should be personal." Taehyung flicked his pen between his fingers.
"Whoever did it... knew where LeeHi would be after her school, and it would seem like, LeeHi willingly followed the person- there were no scenes of struggle on the site, so that means, the person should be someone LeeHi knew... besides I dont think the person did it for the money- maybe... for hatred? Maybe there was some fight or something? We have to go through their family issues again.. maybe ask the neighbours around again specifically focusing on the people who were close to the Lee's"
"Right- I will get to it." Hoseok replied nodding.
"Alright- I'll check what Jin hyung has got for us." Taehyung said standing up and Hoseok hummed, as they parted ways.
Taehyung made his way down to the forensic section of the precinct and opened the door.
"Shut the door please"
Taehyung snorted and shut the door behind his back.
"Anything?" Taehyung asked looked at the male, who was looking into a microscope, focusing on something.
"Uhhhhh... I dont know- I found some particles from the site-" Jin paused and stood straight up.
"Okay- something I need to know?" Taehyung asked, waiting patiently.
"Yep-" Jin replied with a grin as he moved around the counter to the other side and Taehyung followed the man.
"So- the tire prints that we found on the site definitely belongs to a SUV. I mean it makes sense- its kidnapping afterall.." Jin said with a suggestive eyeroll. "And since Jihyo found a silver Toyota on one of those only working misty CCTV cameras.... I can assure you, these tires belong to a Silver Toyota Corolla model after analyzing for a whole night."
Taehyung looked at the male, who simply shrugged
"Coffee is my fuel baby." Jin grinned, his eye bags evident under his eyes.
"Right and uh... the SUV... what are our chances with it?" Taehyung asked.
"Well...." Jin sighed "considering Japan produces them and being cousin countries with them.... we have approximately 10000 models working in Seoul alone right now."
Taehyung groaned. "So to go along only that- would take us a whole month to track down the criminal."
"Yep-" Jin nodded "But-"
"I've found something else too" Jin smiled widely, a little too excited.
"So- as you see, the soil usually holds a certain kind of texture with its particles. They can vary but it almost has the same constituents...when it comes to the surface layer." Jin paused showing the sample containing red soil.
"Ofcourse, the situation would be little different if it rains- but it hasnt rained down in a while... so I can say these are foreign particles." Jin added.
"So where did they come from?" Taehyung asks folding his arms over his chest.
"I found a mixture of concrete and gravel and red gravel- that's especially used in making fancy pavements" Jin said showing the other sample.
"So basically driveways... or maybe garage?" Taehyung queried.
"Yep. It could be"
Taehyung sucked his lips in, thinking hard as he leaned against the counter.
Red Gravel.
Broken Red Gravel
Before he could think of anything else, the door cracked open, his focus shifting to WooYoung who had stepped in.
"Detective Kim? There's someone on call, asking for you" Wooyoung spoke.
Taehyung's eyebrows furrowed.
"Alright- I'll be there" Taehyung replied and Wooyoung nodded and left.
Taehyung turned to Jin and sighed "good job- if you find something else then tell me"
"You got it man" Jin smiled, pointing his fingers at the male.
Snorting, Taehyung walked out of the room shutting the door on his way and quickly made his way to his cubicle, finding Hoseok on a phone, who sent a questioning look at him but Taehyung just shook his head in return.
Taehyung lifted the hand phone, and pressed in a button as the call got diverted to him.
He pressed the device to his ear, as he leaned against his desk.
"Yes... Detective Kim here."
"Oh hello there" the familiar voice rung into his ears from the other side.
Taehyung's expression-less morphed into a scowl.
"What do you want?" Taehyung almost barked back
"Nothing- I just remembered about our little encounter the other day, so I decided to call." The Armani Crcakhead replied and Taehyung felt the need to smack his own head against a wall.
"You.... you do realise that you have actually called the Seoul Police Department right?" Taehyung cocked his head to the side, a deep frown etched on his face.
"Yes... yes... I think that's quite sexy actually... y'know the whole Detective thing"
Taehyung could hear the Armani Crackhead chuckle on the other side.
"Did you call just to waste my time?" Taehyung deadpanned.
"Ooh... well then- you want me ask you on a date?" The Armani Crackhead questioned, his voice filled with confusion while Taehyung suddenly short- circuited, unable to process what the fuck was the other man even saying.
"Okay then- be my date for tonight's party at Allison Garden's" The Armani Crackhead added.
"What- are you outta your mind?!" Taehyung retorted, finally snapping out of the daze, hearing a light chuckle from the other side.
"Dont call me again- I'm not interested in you like what the hell? Plus I'm busy so stop bothering me!" Taehyung said, frustrated and just as angry.
The fact that he could hear the Armani Crcakhead laugh from the other side- made his blood boil.
Did he think this was funny?
"So that means are you gonna be my date or not?"
His audacity.
Taehyung rolled his eyes
"Bye!" Taehyung barked into the phone before hanging up on the phone.
His chest heaved, his sanity hanging by a thread as tried steadying himself.
"You alright man?" Hoseok asked, appearing next to him.
"Yeah... just some asshole thinks its funny to call the police department for no reason" Taehyung said rolling his eyes, as he stood up to look at Hoseok.
"Ah..." Hoseok snorted "anyway- I got in the second reports from Johnny and one of LeeHi's friends, mentioned she had seen LeeHi talking to a boy- who seemed older, probably in his early 20s. She doesn't think it's her boyfriend as LeeHi would have told them, if he was.. the reason why the friend didnt say this early was because she thought it was irrelevant."
Taehyung sighed averting his gaze from his finger, that had almost healed.
Right. LeeHi.
Not the Armani Crackhead.
"A boy huh... so we gotta find- a boy... in his early 20s... who runs a toyota Corolla... and-" Taehyung paused, his eyes widening.
"Red Gravel!!" He blurted out.
"What?" Hoseok asked, confused.
"A guy in his early 20s, A Toyota Corolla model and Red Gravel!" Taehyung repeated, feeling the adrenaline gush through him.
"There is only one place where you can find abundant red gravel driveways and Toyota Corolla rentals with the combination of 20 year olds in Seoul- and its Seoul University!" Taehyung blurted out as he put on his jacket quickly.
"See ya later!" Taehyung said as he zipped past Hoseok, leaving him in a daze- who simply shook his head and got back to his desk.
Taehyung speed walked down to the parking lot and got into his car. He drove carefully but at a rushed pace, his gaze steady as he maneuvered his car into the direction of the University.
The guards stopped him at the huge gates, but with a flick of his batch, they let him pass through.
There were students in and around, who were busy in their old worlds. Some were on the benches and some settled on the grass, enjoying the warm glow of the evening sun.
Taehyung noticed the red gravel pavement and the toed of Silver Toyota Corollas and smiled inwardly, knowing he wasn't far from securing his goal.
He parked his car and stepped out, quickly calling Hoseok to send in the Forensics, knowing one of those cars was definitely used in the kidnapping.
"Ah- you must be Detective Kim, the security informed me. I'm Kim DangHo, vice Principal" a man in a crisp white shirt approached Taehyung and shook his hand.
"How may I help you detective?" DangHo asked, folding his hands.
"I'm working on LeeHi's case and our sources and close proven evidences have led us here. The fugitive of the kidnapping could be one of your students." Taehyung answered.
"I.. what do you mean by one of our students?" DangHo asked, a little shocked.
"Someone had rented one of your rental cars day before yesterday- a boy in his 20s. The forensics team is on their way, to confirm which car it was. We are hoping to find more evidences in the car" Taehyung replied
"B-But... Detective, the press and the media- would- this is a prestigious institution-"
"Sir." Taehyung cut the man off, his tone cold as ice "there is a 15 year old girl out there... whose scared to death. And our only hope to find her is knowing who the fugitive is. We will do our jobs strategically like we've always done, but if you aren't willing to help us- think about how the rest of the parents and people who send their kids here will think knowing you denied investigation over a 15 year old missing girl up save your prestigious institution."
The man gulped, clearly intimidated by Taehyung's strong aura.
"Ah.. ah.. I-I didn't mean that Detective Kim- it's just... we dont want the media coverage to put the institution in a bad light." DangHo stuttered through.
"We cannot avoid the media once the fugitive is caught- but for the time being, we'll restrict them." Taehyung replied, looking back at the row of cars.
"As of for now, I'd like to look at your log of rentals-" Taehyung said and the man nodded, leading the way.
They didnt initiate an conversation and let the silence succumb them.
The security was asked to show the CCTV footage and the log entry of that of three days ago.
And there it was, the only person who had rented a car for the day- a boy in his 20s getting into one of Toyota Corollas at approximately 2PM and the returning time was 11PM.
"Caught you..." Taehyung whispered.
"The entry to friday rentals- is under Chae HyungWon who.. uhhhh... is in 3rd year of engineering." The Security guard read through, from the other computer.
"Chae HyungWon... hm.. does he live in the dorms?" Taehyung asked turning to the other computer.
"No.. he lives outside according to the details." The security replied.
"Any other information, family, friends, address?" Taehyung asked, as he dialed in the number to call back the precinct to check out the fugitive's home.
"His postal address is pinned as Eunji-gil 3rd street, 21-B. There's no details of his friends or family."
Taehyung repeated everything the security said, to Hoseok who was on the line with him.
"I'm sending a unit to HyungWon's house and his phone is currently coming switched off- but we've now tapped his phone number, so if he switches it on we'll no where he is" Hoseok replied and Taehyung hummed in agreement.
"Is there any part time jobs or any other places?" Taehyung asked looking at the Security.
"Oh- uh... it says he works as a server in Allison Gardens." He replied.
Taehyung paused.
Be my date for tonight's party at Allison Gardens
Taehyung grit his teeth.
"Uh... Taehyung?" Hoseok asked from the other side, noticing the silence.
Taehyung sighed. "looks like we got ourselves a party to attend. I'll call you back later." Taehyung replied and hung up.
Holding his gaze attached to the screen, Taehyung sighed- finally looking away, glancing at his wrist watch to find it was already 7PM and the party back at Allisom Gardens probably being started.
Taehyung was positive.
If anything- he did NOT want to meet the Armani Crackhead again.
But it seemed like fate had it's own mind.
