Slowly falling into the abyss.

Until a pair of wings saves me from colliding with the endless darkness.

But he didn't know.

I was already in the darkess.

With a sudden gasp my eyes opened,heart going fast as my body didn't move.

Looking around i noticed the familiar place that was my room.

"Oh my god Kat." Sam,that was sitting next to me,held my hand.

Slowly turning my head towards her,her worried eyes that where hiding behind her glasses looked down at me.

"What..happened." Trying to get up,my arms trembled and Sam held me,noticing that I had an ice bag on my forehead.

"Don't make sudden moves,you aren't in the condition for that,Devin is comi-."

"Devin!" Interrupting her i squirmed away from her embrace,my feet touching the cold wooden floor as i tried to reach my bedroom door.

"Hey wait!He will be back he is just bringing food!"

Managing to open the door,I came across with a pair of dark eyes,looking at me with a knot on his heart,and bags with food on his hands.

"I see you are up Kitty Cat,but you need to lay down before-."

"You were there."

He titled his head,giving me a confused look.

"Don't act dumb,you were there,and you had wings!"

He looked over to Sam and she just shrugged in confusion.

"I think the impact with the ground made you imagine things." He walked past me,giving Sam the bags with food as he rested a hand on my shoulder.

"You need to rest." Looking into my eyes he gave me a gentle push towards the bed.

"Oh sweet!you brought tacos!" Sam said happily getting it out the food and resting it on my desk.

"I brought tacos,pizza,all the goodies you two like." He said with a smile.

I looked at the time."Guys,its 2 am and we are about to eat all that?"

"When we haven't done that before?" Sam looked over to me with a smirk and I nodded.

"Good point."

Grabbing a taco with a slice of pizza,I jumped back on bed,eating with a smile.

"Can you please tell me what happened." I said with mouth full,making Devin laugh.

"Well,I finished late and forgot to tell you,and run outside to find you in case you left." He then sighed,looking away. "But,when I saw you at the parking lot,and that car was coming right at you..I couldn't just leave you like that,so I pulled you away just on time and you hit your head on the ground."

His fingers gently caressed my chubby cheek from the food,making me blush as he moved his fingers on my forehead.

"You have a scratch right here." He said giving a bit pressure on that spot making me flinch."I am sorry,but I don't think that will leave a scar,so that's good."

Pulling his hand away,I felt the warmth of his fingers going away,making me swallow hard.

"Well then..I wonder who hates me that much that wants me dead."

"I was thinking the same thing,you are such a good person,who could harm you!" Sam said,covering her mouth as she ate.

"Even good people have enemies,who never know who might be jealous of you or hates you with all their might.Even people that are nice to you might hold a grudge."

Devin was right,it could be anyone,but as far as I know,the only person that might hate me from my work place are some people in the Designing department,after getting that promotion.

But still,will that be enough that they will want me dead?

"Kat?Are you okay?"

I blinked,shaking my head and looking at them."What."

"You spaced out for a minute or two." Sam said with a questioning look."What were you thinking?"

"Just..possible enemies?"

"If I was in your situation,I would think only one."

I looked at her confused."Who?"

"Oh come on,only one person might want you possibly dead!"

I was still confused.

"Oh for fuck's sake,Val!"

"Sam,I don't think Val is that kind of guy." I looked down at my taco,thinking what I said.

"Hm,don't cross your heart on that,people are unpredictable!"

"Who is Val?" I slightly flinched,slowly looking over to Devin but then looked away and stuffed my mouth with the taco.

"Kat,tell me now.This might be important."

"I am going to bring something to drink,be right back!" Before I could complain,Sam stood up and run out of the room,making me groan.

With a long sigh,I started telling him what happened back in my hometown during Christmas.

"Was he the reason of your suicide attempt?"

"What!Of course not,I will never do that for a guy.I had my reasons,okay and..yeah." Looking away embarrassed,he gently grabbed my arm and made me face him.

"If you do that again,I swear I will.." He suddenly cut himself and didn't continue,letting go of my arm."I am sorry."

"What will you do."

"Nothing."

"Devin tell me,its no use hiding things from me."

"I was about to say the same thing,since i know when something is up."

He cupped my chin,looking deeply into my eyes making my heart slowly melt.

"I can see it in your eyes."

"Nonsense." I cursed myself on the inside because of the stutter.

He stayed silent,our breathings breaking the silence of the room as he examined my face,but still stayed focused on my eyes.

"I want to protect you Kitty Cat.I want you to trust me."

"But,why."

"I can't tell you now,but please trust me.Patience is key,and time will come soon."

Blinking slightly,feeling my cheeks warm from his touch,trying to break eye contact but found it hard to do so.

"Kathleen,do you trust me?" His voice almost in a whisper,as if he was telling me a secret to keep it only for myself.

What is he doing,why am i feeling like this.

"Devin I-."

"I am back!And brought some-!Oh.What is going on,am I interrupting something I don't know?Kat!I thought we were telling everything to each other!"

Me and Devin looked at her and then at each other,laughing to ourselves as Sam was staying at the door with a confused and irritated look.

Fixing my hair to cover the scratch on my forehead,the elevator doors opened,making my way towards my office with a small sigh.

It can't be Val,can it?He couldn't just travel all the way here to kill me right?

Unless the grudge is big.

With a long sigh,I pushed open my office door,noticing a familiar figure's back.

"Sir,what are you doing in my office." It came out rather rude than I expected,cursing under my breath.

He turned his gaze towards me,wearing his usual smirk.

"People usually say good morning,but I understand your reaction."

"No,no sir,I just-."

He chuckled."Relax Miss Latrom,I am just teasing you,it was my fault coming in your office and checking out the progress of your work."

My eyes went wide."You shouldn't sir!It's not ready for any reveal whatsoever!"

"I understood it by looking at it." He smiled and walked towards me,stuffing his hands inside his pant pockets.

"I am sorry sir,I told you it is in progress." I lowered my head,feeling embarrassed from seeing that mess of a start.

His large fingers cupped my chin,slowly lifting up my head as my eyes met his,a pink blush dusted on my cheeks.

"I think we should discuss the mistakes over dinner,don't you think?"

"What." My blush deepened in shade,as his hand held my hand,pecking his soft lips on the back of my hand.

"You heard me,dinner.Me and you,and don't decline again Miss Latrom,I don't think my heart can endure another rejection from you." He said playfully and smirked,a deep chuckle escaped from him.

"Um,I don't know sir,it is not right an employee to go out with their boss.What will the people think?"

"They will think in the wrong way.We are going out for a business matter,not to be in a playful mood and do inappropriate things.The relationship between us stays an employee and employer."

Slightly tighting my hand around his,I looked away,thinking it for a second before I pulled my hand away.

"Fine,it will be rude to decline again anyways."

He smiled."Perfect.You can go home early to get ready,I will come and pick you up at eight."

He walked past me,his hand wrapping around the door handle before he looked back at me,and I looked back at him as well.

"It is,not,a date." He chuckled with a smirk,opening the door,slowly closing it behind him.
