II

Drifter was still thinking of his encounter with the strange creature that seemed to defy all of reality. It is clear it did not belong to any of the known species. Him and Elsie did some digging and it all led to a dead end. But, as they were about to give up they come across a strange place, but it is not on Europa, but on Earth itself, it is clear that this place wasn't old. They walked through the hallways, it was a mall, it looked almost completely new.

Elsie: I do not like this Drifter. Something feels odd.

Drifter: Don't worry sister, we are odd ourselves, hah. Everything looks relatively new, but at the same time, there is no product on the shelves, naked mannequins. This is really odd but exciting.

They started to notice some sort of corruption on the material around them, it was strange, silvery and as they turned the corner they noticed a massive crack in space and time. Strange bluish energy flowing out from it, as they got closer they could feel as if something is trying to touch them. Like a thousand hands are roaming their bodies.

Elise: What in the world is that?

Drifter: It ain't Hive I can tell you that. Nor Vex. This is new, this is different.

Elsie: We should report this to the Vanguard immediately and wait for them to come.

Drifter: And what if we don't get a chance. I am going in, are you going in?

Elsie: Hell no! Are you crazy? What if you never come back?

Drifter: Then tell Eris that I will miss her. I need answers, that thing piqued my interest and I will find those answers, even if I don't make it out I will be satisfied.

Elsie: I can't let you go inside.

Drifter: Try and stop me.

She saw the seriousness in his eyes, she herself was conflicted on what to do. Does she let him go and get yelled at by every single person or go with him and have the prospect of never coming back. He makes a run for it and she can't believe herself but she follows after him. As they jump through the crack they find themselves in a strange place. In the distance is another crack but between it and them is scattered rubble that they will have to cross. They take a moment to take in their surroundings, a strange place indeed, a blueish green storm like space, there is lightning and a sense of danger if they were to stay here for too long. They jump form one large piece to another, all of these appear to be pieces of something. Some are strange containers, some look like large fans, some are walls and others appear to be what they could only assume are parts of ship. There are even whole platforms with staircases on them. This entire place appears to be another dimension that sucks in things from some location. Elsie suddenly stops, Drifter notices as he looks behind himself, seeing her some distance away from him. She is staring at something.

Drifter: What the hell are you doing?

Elsie: I saw a child.

Drifter: What? Have you gone insane now?

Elsie: No? I am certain I saw it.

Drifter: What the hell would a kid do here? We need to push on forward, let's go.

She reluctantly follows after him, she is certain she saw a child sitting at one of the floating boxes. As they finally reach the end they jump through. There is a blinding light before they feel hard surface beneath them. As they open their eyes they find themselves inside some ruins. They walk around, the stone is grey, there are strange plants growing and remnants of some society. There is a lot of gold and as they reach a balcony they see something that disturbs them. Earth. But they were just on it, how can they look at it. Then where are they? Drifter recognizes the stone.

Drifter: Are we on the moon?

Elsie: We could be, judging by the position and terrain around us. But it is clear that it had been shattered and altered.

Drifter: Where in the name of the Traveler are we?

Elsie: Let's head further out.

Drifter: Yeah, let's do that. We came here for answers and we ain't gon get them by standing around.

They explore more and more, walking through many corridors and hallways, coming across beautiful room and also strange ones. Then, they hear noises up front, approaching. They hide behind some rocks, the voices sound strange but some words sound familiar. Past them walk a group of strange looking humanoid creatures, they have many prosthetics and wear bulky armor. But they look relatively primitive. The group passes by and once the coast is clear they move forward.

Elise: What were those things?

Drifter: Beats me sister. I know as much as you. But they looked pretty human to me, altered though.

Elsie: Do you think they are human?

Drifter: Seemed like it. Some words also I think I kind of understood. They appeared to be English but a heavily altered and undeveloped English. Barbaric even.

Venturing forward they come across more beautiful room, a large open space with a golden rotating sphere. This whole places looks like a fever dream. Delving deeper in the distance they hear the sound of not gunfire, but pure carnage and it is getting closer to them. Scared they start to run back, however, their way is blocked by the strange soldiers they saw earlier and they spotted both of them. They do not appear to even try and talk, immediately they start to shoot. Ducking for cover they return fire, killing some but more appear to come out. As if they are fighting the Hive, they are endless. Now they not only have to deal with the problem at hand but the carnage that they heard before all of this is getting closer.

Elsie: Drifter, what do we do?

Drifter: I got no idea, we are cornered. But the carnage that approaches is definitely not for us, but these guys are endless.

Elsie: Seriously, we had killed twenty of them right now but there are still more.

Drifter: Ya got a idea for an escape?

Elsie: The only way is jumping off that cliff and I for sure don't want to do that.

In the distance they notice the massive doors open, like a vault door twisting open and from them something jumps up into the air and lands with such a brutal force that they feel the ground shake. It quickly kills off the remaining soldiers with a massive machinegun. It doesn't appear to have noticed them as it is preoccupied with the soldiers as they just keep on coming. The thing is metallic, large with many muscles and a horn atop of it's head. It pulls out a axe and charges at a crowd, knocking them back and as they get up slashing them into pieces. Another one appears, it is a female for sure, as there are breasts on their chest. They have a really strange head that appears to have a gold crown like extension going back.  One of the soldiers rushes at them but they appear to do something to him and he stops and turns around and starts to shoot at his allies.  As they appear to be preoccupied with the battle Elsie and Drifter grab this chance and run past. They need to somehow head back to that crack and go back to their world at all costs. This world is completely ridiculous, mind control, ground shattering stomps, this is absurd. They run, run as fast as their legs can take them. Navigating through the complex, trying to find the room where they first came in. After many dead ends they find a path they remember and retrace it. A couple of those soldiers show up but they are easy to deal with as they didn't appear to have large numbers. They finally reach the room they vividly remember, but to their dread, the rapture is no more.

Drifter: Where is it?!

Elsie: I don't know, it couldn't have just disappeared, could it?

Drifter: Are you sure that this is the room?

Elsie: I am sure, I vividly remember that plant next to that strange coffin thing.

Drifter: Fuck, fuck, fuck. You think it closed?

Elsie: That is the only explanation?

Drifter: Well what are we going to do now?

Elsie: I don't know. This was your plan remember, you wanted to find answers. I said that we should probably get the Vanguard and not go in but no, you wanted those stupid answers for your stupid curiosity.

Drifter can't really even feel mad at her, all that she said is true. If they turn out to be trapped here then that is bad news. At least he still has his Light, that is a positive. He starts to walk back and forth, trying to figure out what to do. They are in an unknown timeline, place, world even, there are strange humanlike soldiers roaming around, trying to kill them whilst they themselves are being slaughtered like animals by some strange creatures. His heart drops when on the radar he gets a ping, approaching them quickly.

Drifter: Quick, hide.

He makes a jump for some rubble but Elsie, she doesn't know where to hide. She franticly looks around, there aren't many places where she could hid. Fear sets in because if they find her, god knows what they will do to her. If she dies, she is dead, she isn't like Drifter. She makes a run and pushes the coffin thing a little and hides behind it. She peeks through as the large door slide open and the same two figure they saw walk in. The horned one has a machinegun and the crown one has some sort of a long bow. They look around, examining the room, but to her shock, it only takes a moment of not paying attention to loose sight of the crown one. She stops peeking and leans against the surface of the back of the coffin, if she had a heart it would be beating at a million beats per minute. As she looks up she sees it, staring down at her, the bow drawn, an arrow aimed right at her. Her heart sinks, all she can do is stare up at it. There really isn't even a point in trying to go for the gun, it's sight is set on her. Studying every move. She walks out from behind the cover, the thing slowly eases the arrow as Elsie steps out in front of the large one, it's form has a presence of it's own. It points at the rubble, it knows that the Drifter is there.

Elsie: Drifter, you can come out, they know that you are hiding there.

He peeks up, noticing Elsie standing there he thinks of what to do. Doing anything stupid would put Elsie in danger so he refrains from doing anything. He steps out, a rarity is for him to be scared, but he is now. The large one looks at him examining him from head to toe before turning around, the female one stands beside the large one. As they start to walk away, they look back at them. They want those two to follow after them. Seeing that as their only option they oblige, walking behind these strange things. They do not know where they are being led to, what will happen to them, they don't know anything really. Everything is now in the hands of these creatures, if they want to kill them they will, but if they really wanted that, they would have killed them the moment they saw each other. Once at a strange platform the female one grabs Elsie and the large one Drifter and they board two different ships. They fly off to god knows where, but all they can hope is that nothing bad will happen.
