I

With the threat of Maya Sundaresh gone for now a new one arises, Fikrul showed himself again, this time he posses one of the Echo's. Turning the fallen into mindless Scorn everybody is trying to save as many Eliskni as the can. However, Drifter had nothing to do, like usually and instead is spending time with Eris Morn. They are chatting, talking about current events, discussing future plans and such. He always felt drawn to her, they were always the weird ones, always sticking together. Without her, he couldn't find enjoyment in talking. They talk and talk, comment on the current situation, she isn't all that fond of the Eliksni but she hates the Hive a lot more so they are the lesser evil. She does however feel sorry for the poor people that suffer and agrees that Fikrul has to be stopped no matter what. He cannot be allowed to reign free and is certain that one Guardian will forever stop him. The time finally comes when he has to separate from her as he does have other things he has to do. Elsie wanted to talk to him in person about something that she found. He flies off to Europa to meet Elsie who doesn't seem all that thrilled, something is bothering her.

Drifter: Hello there, Elsie. What is bothering your pretty little head?

Elsie: Hello Drifter. You noticed. What am I thinking, why wouldn't you notice.

Drifter: I am pretty good at reading people, you ain't hiding anything from me. So, what's the problem?

Elsie: I came across something that I have never seen.

She pulls out what appears to be a tip of a spear. He is confused, why does she find it weird.

Drifter: A tip of a spear. It is probably some Fallen spear tip that one lost in battle.

Elsie: That is what I thought of at first, but I tried to pick up one, there were a couple. It exploded, thankfully I was quite clumsy and it fell on the ground. This one I managed to keep from exploding.

Drifter: A bomb of some sort?

Elsie: I highly doubt it, not in the purpose of blowing up a building. All of them were identical, rarely do blades break into identical shapes, well not three in a row.

He grabbed the piece carefully and examined it. It is quite a pretty little thing, crafted with purpose of lethality and beauty. He had never seen anything like it. Maybe it came from a glaive, but glaive's fire off a energy projectile, not a physical one. It could be a one of weapon that some Guardians would pay fortune for, just to have it.

Drifter: Where did you find it?

Elsie: It was laying on the ground surrounded by a bunch of Vex corpses. I did detect a strange source of power on them, it was neither light nor dark, I know how they feel. This was more, unnerving.

Drifter: You had my attention, but now you have my curiosity. Shall we go and visit the place you found it at.

Elsie: Sure.

Together they went got on their sparrows and went out. Driving through the storm but eventually it subsided and gave them a clear view. As they arrived they noticed that the bodies were still there, however, there were also small burnt places, presumably where the spear tips exploded. As they walked around, trying to investigate the area they come across footprints. They look pretty normal so they follow them to a small cliff, where they simply stop. They look around if they continue on but they don't find anything.

Drifter: Maybe it was a Guardian?

Elsie: It could be, but I want to know what weapon are they using and where they found it.

They then heard the distinct sound of fire and a metallic ting before it was followed up by an loud bang. The two quickly rant towards the source, their guns drawn, who knows what they might face. They come up to an entrance into a small cavern, Eliskni bodies lay all around, some blown up some not. They ran inside as there was more of that carnage, dead bodies all around. Continuing deeper but with a lot more caution, this time they hear a familiar and normal sounding gunshot. However, another sound echoed out, one that made both of them confused, the sound of chains. Something definitely wasn't right and as they ventured in deeper, hoping from a platform to platform. The inside of the cave was clearly Vex but it appears to have been overrun and now Fallen moved in. As they entered a largish room there was a fierce battle going on between a Fallen Captain and a creature that can only be called impossible in looks.

In one hand it held a long spear but in the other a thurible from which strange energy glowed out of. The thing was almost incomplete, it's hands were not connected, a ribcage of metal and a strange head. The thing couldn't be explained, they didn't know if they had gone crazy or what. It fired out from the spear projectiles that would explode a couple seconds later. That must have been the tips that Elsie found. It then whipped itself with the thurible, which made them even more confused. The Captain didn't last long as it was quickly slain, Drifter and Elsie hadn't been discovered which was good. They could observe the creature more. Some kind of strange purple smoke, or liquid, or energy flowed not only in it's head but it's what appeared to be the heart. The thing stood over the body, looking down on it. They were conflicted, should they shoot it, or stay hidden. A shot rang out, nearly hitting Drifter, it came from a remaining Dreg, they had no other choice but to shoot and kill it. But as they looked back, it was gone. They ran towards the captain, to see where it had gone. They looked all around, there is an exit that it could have gone through.

Drifter: Dammit, it escaped.

Elsie: What was that thing?

Drifter: I got no idea, but it gave me the creeps. No thing could be built like that, that thing wasn't normal.

Elsie: We should probably head out, maybe report this to the Vanguard.

Drifter: Oh, I don't know. Let's wait for a little. Mayb...

Something lands behind them, cutting off Drifters sentence. Quickly both of them jumped in opposite direction, guns drawn they saw it standing there, tall. They shot at it but it's movements were quicker than theirs. It landed next to Elsie, he could not get a clear shot because of her. It swung it's thurible upwards and chains sprouted from nowhere, trapping them. No matter how hard they tried to break free, they couldn't. Even him, as a Guardian could not break free, these chains were not normal. I walked past Elsie and to him, looking straight at him, for the first time in a long time he actually felt fear. It brought up the spear to his face and all he can hear is the ting before dying. Elsie could only hear what was going behind her, her heart sank. However, to her luck, the creature was focused on the flying Ghost. It looked at it with curiosity but then dashed back as Drifter came back. Finally free from the chains he starts firing, the bullets impact but they don't appear to do anything. Nevertheless, the creature runs through the small exit and disappears from sight, the chains soon dissipate. Elsie is finally free from the hold. He stops her from going in pursuit.

Elsie: Why are you stopping me? Let's go and get it.

Drifter: I would love to, but I think it is in our best interest to not go after it. It subdued us quickly and then thing just shot me once and I was gone. Normally we are able to take quite a beating before dying.

Elsie: So what do you say we do next? Sit and forget that this ever happened?

Drifter: No, but at the same time, we shouldn't report this to the Vanguard.

Elsie: Why?

Drifter: I got a feeling, a gut feeling that there is a possibility of dialog with it.

Elsie: What do you mean?

Drifter: I think it is capable of thought and I would like to talk to it.

Elsie: And that is why we should contact the Vanguard, they could help us track those things. And then you would be able to talk to it to your hearts desire.

Drifter: The bigger the search party the easier to detect. And plus, we might scare it away.

Elsie: Scare it? That thing might not know fear.

Drifter: Just trust me, we don't report this, at least for now.

Elsie stared at Drifter in disbelief, not knowing if he was joking. But there was complete seriousness on his face, he wasn't joking around. She sighed, while he isn't fully trustworthy most of the time, he is usually right.

Elsie: Fine.

Drifter: Perfect. Now, shall we head back and figure out our next plan.

She nodded and with that, they returned back to their base of operations. They sit around a campfire and chat, discussing where it could have gone and what it's intentions are. Is it evil, or good, or neither. But he is set on finding one of them and trying to interact with it.
