The Devil And I
A/N: This is kind of a squeal to The Day I Met The Devil but you don't have to read that one to read this.
~~~
Being the female devil had its perks. I get a pretty red dress, my once bitten nails are now long and blood red and I get to hang with the devil himself anytime I want.
Now, as the female devil I had all the same powers as the devil but obviously there can only be one top dog and so his powers and his say always out rule mine. But I don't mind that because if there's an issue we talk it though and well since we first time we've always been able to just talk to each other. I guess you could say we're best friends.
We have other friends, but it's not the same because they're our friends out of fear or thirst for power. It's not the best feeling, I mean I would have thought that after 10 years of my being here they'd know that I'm not evil or anything. And neither is the devil, if I'm being honest he's a big softy. He cried at the end of Marley & Me.
See, would an evil person cry at a dog dying?
The answer: No.
Anyway, as I was saying. My position has perks; I get want I want, I have a constantly growing collection of video games and no one can tell me what to do. Yup, life is sweet.
But I can't help but feel something is missing.
"Stupid. I've got it all" I mutter, picking up the Xbox control, which we had decorated with flames (cliche, I know) and start to play GTA 5.
The first thing I did was drive to the strip club.
"Hey, Little Devil" The devil calls, jumping over the back of our red sofa to sit beside me.
Technically my name is The Female Devil but Mr. nicknames here has become accustom to calling me Little Devil because of my height. It used to annoy me but now it's just normal for me to responses to the name.
I can't even remember my human name. I think it started with an A, or I dunno maybe R.
"Hey Dee" I say back, not taking my eyes off the half naked cartoon stripper on the screen.
Jesus her boobs were big. Too big. I bet she has back problems. Or you know, she would.. If she were real.
"Whatcha doing?"
"Oh, ya know, just at the strip club"
"Kool, Kool. Hey, I was thinking bout getting a cat"
I drop the control, not even bothering to pause the game, as I stare at him with wide eyes.
"Nah ah. We spoke about a this. If we get a pet, we get a hell hound" I huff at the end of my sentence because, seriously, we've had this conversation like 173758275736 times.
Okay, maybe that was a little bit of an exaggeration.
"But-"
"Nooooooo, I want a hell hound!" I'm whining now, but I don't care, I want a hell hound.
The devil frowned for a moment, his eyebrow glowing for a moment as he thought. I waited, watching at his eyebrow went through about 50 shades of red. What's he thinking so hard about? I didn't upset him right?
With that thought my frown left my face for a second, just to return as I now worried for my friend.
Suddenly he looked up, grinning at me.
"Why don't we just get both?"
Heh. "I never actually thought about that..." As I said the words I smiled at him, nodding. "That's actually a great idea!"
"Shall we go to Ken's kennel in the morning?"
I looked up at the fiery clock "It's only 5 pm"
"Yeah, but" he pointed to the tv "strippers!"
"Good point" I reply, picking up the controller again.
**
"Oh my, isn't he just the cutest thing?" Dee gushes over the small kitten with black furs. The kitten looks up at him and meows, skipping forward to lick Dee's extended hand. "Oh my gosh! He's the one! I'm getting him, I'm going to call him Toby!"
"Haha, okay Dee. Go tell Ken and then we can pick out the hell hound"
Dee skipped away, his hair lighting up in flames showing that his mood was extreme. And clearly it was extreme excitement. I never understood why our bodies show our emotions so clearly but it's cool because when we're angry the look on people's faces in priceless!
When Dee came back he had the paper work for Toby and his hair was still blazing. He put his hand out to Toby, stroking him behind the ears. "I'll be back in a few moments little guy, right after we find LD her hell hound, okay?"
Normally I'd roll my eyes but knowing that I'm probably be going to act that way in a few minutes, I keep my eyes in the same spot.
We quickly made our way through a green door (huh, it's not red. that's new) to the hell hound section. Hell hounds are basically dogs but unlike dogs they can glow red, not to the extend Dee and I can but its still pretty cool. Oh, and they're also about twice the size of a normal dog. And black. They're always black.
Not even two minutes into looking around I spotted a rather small (but still waaaaay bigger then a dog) hell hound in its enclosure. The way it was lying down, clearly scared or upset made me smile sadly. I knew then that she was the one I'd be taking home.
I walked up to the enclosure and call out. Her head raised towards me before she pulled herself up and walked over to me. She licked my hand before I rubbed her ears and chin.
She whines a little, but it was a positive whine... If that makes sense.
I smile at her and her nose goes red, as does her tail which she wags at the speed of light.
"Marsie" I name her, giving her one last scratch before going to fetch the paper work.
Once we need home we show Marsie and Toby were they're going to sleep and such before we all settle for lunch.
**
Marsie is so cute, she's the sweetest hell hound I've ever met. Hell hounds are naturally more reserved and always on the look out for danger but Marsie is all fun and games and I couldn't love her more for it.
She's still protective and double checks things, as if she heard a odd sound then she'd check at least two times before she'd go back to messing around.
I couldn't ask for a better pet. I mean, all Toby does is sit around, sleep and lick himself.
Although Dee seems happy with him. And I'll admit the little guy is adorable. Toby, not Dee... Just making that clear. Haha. Awkward...
I shake my head, getting rid of the thoughts. I wiggle the piece of rope I front of Marsie and just like that we're back to messing around. She gets hold of the rope, her nose, ears and tails glowing with excitement. I tug on it, trying to reclaim but her hold on it was strong. No surprise, she is a hell hound.
"Heeeeey Little Devil!" Dee shouts, entering the room.
I grit my teeth, annoyed by his voice. I mean, I love him, he's my best friend but I just wish that for once I had another friend.
"Hi" I snap, not even trying to hide my annoyance.
"Umm... So, you okay?" I can tell his worried.
I suddenly feel ashamed and guilty that I snapped at him. He's my best friend, why would I do that?
"Sorry, I just..." How do I phrase it without sounding mean?
"You just?.." He replies, nodding to urge me to finish my sentence.
"I just, I feel like maybe we should have other friends? Y'know? Because- I love you and everything but I, like, think its not healthy for any devil to spend all their time with one person?" Everything I said came out in a jumbled mess, not really making sense but I think he got.
"I get it, no need to worry" He smiled before kissing me on the check.
I smile back before giving him a hug. He really is my best friend. I don't know what I'd do without him.
